After watching this video you will know how to create a bootable USB install media for macOS Big Sur. If at any point you new additional help for this tutorial please refer to the Apple support article: support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372
First, we will need to download a copy of Big Sur from the App Store, and after doing so the installer will show up in your Applications folder as “Install macOS Big Sur”.
Instead of running the installer, we hit quit and create a bootable USB stick. For this please go to:
➜ Applications ➜ Utilities ➜ Terminal
There you can copy and paste the command from the Apple support article, make sure to replace the last part called “MyVolume” with the name of your USB stick.
If you are unsure, one easy way to check is to start the Disk Utility, if you go to View and select show all devices it will be easy to double-check the name of your USB drive.
After you created the Bootable USB drive installer, please be aware that newer MacBooks have a so-called T2 security chip. While in the past on older models you could just plug in any USB stick or external drive and boot from it, the new security chip will prevent it unless you previously change the settings.
Chase A - Older Mac Computers:
1. On Startup Press ➜ Option (⌥)
2. Select macOS Big Sur ➜ Boot from USB
Chase B - Newer Mac Computers:
1. Startup Press ➜ Command (⌘)-R:
2. Go to ➜ Utilities ➜ Startup Security Tool
3. Startup Press ➜ Option (⌥)
4. Select macOS Big Sur ➜ Boot from USB
Chase C - Latest Apple Silicon:
1. Press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.
2. Select ➜ macOS Recovery ➜ Utilities ➜ Startup Security Tool
3. Press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.
4. Select macOS Big Sur ➜ Boot from USB
As you can see, because Apple has beefed up security with this new chip, there is one additional step required. If you are coming from an older model it used to be much easier.
Keep in mind that most users just download and install straight from the App Store, but for computer enthusiasts or system administrators having a USB install media is usually popular.
That's pretty much it, if you have come that far, installation should be easy.

Happy to help!
Awesome video, thanks.
Glad you liked it!
Chapters would be a great addition to your video
See video description, it has some time stamps.
Looking forward to your video on how to install Big Sur using OpenCore on your Mac Pro tower;)
I don't use OpenCore, but did install the previous macOS Catalina on an external SSD once and put it into the old MacPro tower, did seem to work fine.
Thanks a lot mate
You're welcome!
I noticed that my laptop is getting hot pretty fast after upgrading the ssd. I have a 2015 MBP and upgraded to a 1T Samsung Evo plus ssd. Everything seems to be working perfectly but it gets hot. Do you have any suggestions on how to prevent the computer from heating up so much?
Normally SSD is much cooler than conventional hard disk drive. According to Samsung EVO Plus is an NVMe drive with Operating Temperature 0 - 70 °C
Awesome video very informative.
I did make some improvements, and shorten the video to be more concise.

Can you show how to do this on Apple M1 chip ? And maybe Carbon Copy Cloner :)
Details in the video description.
hi there. I followed your video but I am stucked in the step plug in the usb drive. when I plug in, it doesn't show up like yours. can you please help ?
Please see video description for additional information.
hey there, I would like to ask whether it'd still be fine to clean install from an 8gb usb ?
If you had done some small amount of work, you would have seen that the apple support document says you need a USB with at least 14gb of space.
At least 16GB is needed.
After doing this do you erase it from your internal hard drive
If you need additional help please refer to the Apple support articles in the video description.
Hello, I followed every step you showed. I erase everything on internal disk and it still says that I need more additional space..
Can you help with that?
According to Apple you can format like this:

I'm running into an issue for about a week now, that I am not able to install the macos (Internet Download/Internet Recovery). I also tried to install with USB Installer, but I have no access to the "startup security utilities" caused by "no administrator [...]"". It is an MacBook Air A1932 (2018).
After I erased the volume, It always boot into the internet recovery (Default is mojave, with option+cmd+r is big sur) and got in the "Installer Log" a lot of outputs.
e.g.:
When I booted into the Recovery mode:
- InstallAssistant[336]: No compatibility bundle on this version of macOS. Will assume compatible.
a lot of this:

@@ReviewTechTV my comment is not aimed for quality of your content. Apple scued something and there is a lot of issues. Your video is top quality but not apply when apple have own issues.
Sorry if my previous comment was misleading.
@@MrBasforce I haven't noticed any issues, only increased security since introduction of the T2 security chip.

How to reinstall macOS ➜ support.apple.com/en-us/HT204904
You don't have to install macOS from an Bootable USB Drive, see article above.
Not clear, very confuse
See video description for step by step overview.
It actually is quite clear and very easy to understand. Just do exactly what hé does. And a bit common sense helps everyone, don't you agree ?
