Absolutely the clearest instructions I've come across. I got things wrong trying to follow two other sets of written but ambiguous instructions elsewhere before coming across Jeff's video. Nailed it in one. Very grateful. Truly excellent job.
I did it! It worked. I'm so exited, I know nothing about computers, accidentally erased my harddisk completely and needed to get it working again. Bought an USB drive and followed these instructions and it worked!! Thanks a million for these good to follow and clear instructions!! My Mac mini has a new lease on life. Thank you!!!
This is by far, the best tutorial for doing this. The speech is clear and concise, knowledgeable and the video is easily referred to when confirming that you are doing it right. Thank you!
Very easy to follow. I agree with the comments below. I did this on a Mac Book Air about 4 years old. Like he says be patient it took over an hour to do this.
Wow, this is the most helpful tutorial! I am in Ethiopia helping a friend who had a 2015 Macbook air running on Mavericks (10.9). Ethiopia has no relationship with Apple, so there was no way for her to use an Apple ID. Plus, Mavericks is so old that no MacOS was showing up in the App store. Her machine can run on Big Sur, but she had no way of getting there without help. Your tutorial solved the problem! I have no technical skills to speak of but I was able to use your tutorial to install Big Sur so that she can download new apps and stay on a supported version of Apple's OS. She is now able to login with her apple ID, etc. THANK YOU! This would have cost her $100 USD at a shop to do, which is 1/3 of the average young college grad's monthly salary.
After I watched tons of ways to create a bootable usb for Mac with no success, yours is definitely the simple and most effective way to do it, thanks a lot
Superb job. This is how instruction videos should be done. Nio annoying music. No begging. Straight to the point. Every step clearly explained. Thanks. again.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. You helped save a trip to the Store for my cousin. Her M1 Mac Mini was having issues, thankfully I was able to get a bootable disc made for her and it got her back up and running.
Brilliant sorted my Mac book air 2015 that was stuck with high sierra. Could not update. But followed your tutorial and Boom. I feel alive again!!!!!!! Thank you so much😊
Upgraded from late 2011 MacBook Pro to mid 2015 MacBook Pro. Will be putting in 2tb SSD in tomorrow. Then restoring from my backups from 2011 post install of Monterey. Thank you for posting this video, working out great...
After attempting to fix my wife’s MacBook Pro, which wouldn’t reload Big Sur, wouldn’t reload Sierra and would load from Internet options this was my 4th attempt at trying to get anything installed. Thank you SO much, you saved me from having to buy another laptop or at least from sleeping on the couch for a week. For anyone else with this issue, I just plugged the flash drive into the MacBook and restarted it. The Apple logo finally showed up and then immediately went to recovery mode and gave me the chance to load a fresh copy of Monterey. Nothing to it
I have been going crazy try to figure out the installation of ios monterey. Nothing was working for me at all until I saw your video. Huge thakns to you!!!!!
Perfect, Precise, To The Point. No Need For Third Party Software When Mac OS Is Capable Itself. Nothing Can Be More Perfect Than This Video For The Topic. Thank You So Much. You Earned An Honest Follower And A Subscriber Too. Stay Blessed.
This really helped me out, I accidentally deleted all my mac through FIND MY IPHONE app. i had to use another mac to download the file onto USB and in Terminal had to remember to put the spaces in after Sudo and volume, it was just so relieving, didn't have to take it to a professional, thank you so much
Thank you so much for the perfect easy instructions that worked like a charm and first time using terminal! I've used DiskMaker X to create bootable disk drives starting with El Capitan, I believe and support has ended with Catalina. ):
Thanks so much. Your instructions were so helpful. I have a 13 Macbook Pro 2015 that I had installed a new 256GB SSD. When I would boot into Recovery and try to use Disk Utilities to initialize & format it would not work because it Disk Utilities did not have the option to change the View to "All". So using your video I made a bootable installer and booted to it. Then opened Disk Utilities which was a newer version and it had the option to change view to "All devices" and my new SSD showed up. Was able to successfully initialize, format and install MacOD Big Sur. Thanks again.
Hi, I ran into an error while trying to reinstall MacOS, after I erased my macbook Macintosh HD-Data Disk. Its showing to install the Sierra OS, when I click on continue, it displays a msg "your computer eligibility will be verified". I clicked on continue then it shows a msg. " the installer information on the recovery server is damaged"..... The wifi is connected on the MacBook during this entire process... I don't know what to do now. Can anyone help me with this issue?
Thanks a lot. I had done this a couple of years ago, but had forgotten how to do it, but found your video and it is now installing. Apple really ought to make it easier to make install disks without the need to using Terminal. it should also automatically wipe the ssd you want to install it on instead of using Disk Utility.
thanks brother you saved my life its work using you method . I tries other people on youtube none of them work I struck at volume nothing boot or work keep saying must use root or argument value lol. your more detail and explains well thanks again keep up to good work help people need help like me
Simple tutorial, particularly the use of the direct resources and achieving the goal alone with on-board resources of macOS itself I find exceptionally good, many German tutorials fall back on third-party providers, which ultimately breaks the chain of trust. So: Thank you for this video! Incredibly helpful!
@@mikehunt576 happened to me as well. I went to the AppStore downloaded it and at the and it said it was unable to open it or something. Super instructional! thank you! One thing I needed to do was to remain APFS containers via the terminal of older Mac OS Mojave before I could install on the new drive: From Terminal, "diskutil list". find the container name you need to delete that is APFS (HD needs to be GUID Partition). Then type: "diskutil apfs deleteContainer /dev/[nameofdisk itentifier, eg: “disk0s2”] then you can make a clean install. Just be warned this will delete eveything on the partition / container selected. Choose wisely!
Thank you for this high quality presentation. I will do a fresh install of Monterey onto my Early 2015 MBP, which is at the tail end of making the cut for this OS; I am running Mojave now. My 14-inch 2021 MBP is scheduled to arrive in a month, during which I will deliberate whether to use the Migration Assistant utility or start fresh and selectively copy items as needed. In either case, wiping my existing laptop via this newly-created bootable USB will not occur until I am comfortable my workflow is in tact on the new unit.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! this was so easy to follow, pause and play! better than the apple instructions on their website!!! bravo, sir!!! BRAVO!!!
I used this method to boot Big Sur on my old 2014 mac-mini that was painfully slow in booting, running and opening apps. I bought a Samsung T7 Portable SSD - 1 TB for $110(Amazon). It is now much much faster than when I bought it new. Some things feel 2+ times faster. Everything pops up instantly so instead of junking my old mac mini I have a useable machine that I love again. Thank you
I am planning on doing the same thing. Question, I have the Monterey boot USB done. I understand holding down OPTION key to get to the right place. If the new SSD is connected and formatted properly (APFS/GUID, I think), do you then install it onto that drive?
@@leslieknowles3657 yes, the OS X file must be downloaded onto the ssd. Once done you will see a reboot option to start from the ssd. Good luck. If I can help further please let me know
