Hi everyone, thanks for joining me on the mat today. Many years ago I released a 30 minute yoga class that I called "spicy core" and as the title said, it was all about strengthening your power center! I thought it was time to give you an updated version of this class, so here we are!
Join me for a 30 minute intermediate level practice where we will work on strengthening our abdominals, obliques, hip flexors and back muscles. This is a fun and powerful practice that will take you through reclined, seated and standing poses to work your core in unique ways. I recommend having two blocks but if you don't have any, don't worry about it!

I'm writing this as a reminder that I have already done this more than 6 times and that I have recorded myself doing it too. I also want to say that this time I did the tree pose side plank successfully, almost without struggling 🎉🎉

beautiful practice as always. Can you also do a practice to strengthen weak wrists? my wrists really struggle in the side planks so I do them from my elbows, but I want to slowly strengthen them without causing injury. Love your channel and you!

Agreed! This felt like a wrist workout more than a core workout 😅😅
My left wrist is weak, so I ball my hand into a fist and it works pretty well. Also sometimes a yoga block can give you extra cushion if you want to bend your wrist.
Ms Kassandra, thank you! Your other yoga session videos helped us sail through the recent pandemic lockdowns. The shoulder and upper body workouts cured a persistent shoulder pain for which even the exercises prescribed by a sports injury specialist didn’t help. 😊

I LOVE your core strength classes - as I love all your classes, really. For more than four years, I've been doing yoga on a daily basis with you, you helped me staying sane during the pandemic and helped me recovering gradually from long covid. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do. It's so great that you come to my home with whatever class I feel like in this moment at exactly the time that's convenient. It's priceless, really. Please continue this way.

@@KaraCamilleDelonasBecause most of the Western yoga teachers have culturally appropriated the great and ancient Indian spiritual practice of yoga making money of it but without ever giving any credit to the roots of the practice or its history. My humble attempt is to remind people of the same. I remember you asking me this question before. I do understand genuine curiosity is not why you asked me this question but to possibly call me out or just to feel smart 😊

This is the second time I've done this routine. I'm getting a tad better and I feel stronger. I could do the sideplank crunches this but can't manage the tree pose sideplank. I'll keep at it. I always feel encouraged by your positive "can do but don't beat yourself up" attitude.
I like the sequence, but it contains lots of wrists work so next time it will be so nice if you add wrists warm-up at the beginning. Thank you so much for your beautiful energy 💕

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve practiced and I’m no where near this skilled but loved this session. There may have been a 1/4 of a millimeter of air between me and the floor on those lifts.
This was very very challenging, but it works! Thank you so much for a new addition to my daily routine

Always love when there's a little something extra added to a pose, beyond pushing your strength and balance, it's also just kinda fun just to have to think a bit more about what you're doing and how to coordinate yourself: no room for your mind to wander off and only half-tune in! I missed core yoga classes so much! Sometimes we tend to overfocus on the legs and forget about upper body and core strength. This feels so refreshing. Loved it! Lots of love from Portugal
I’m still a beginner after 2 years but you’re my very favorite instructor. I have 4 slightly bulging discs upper mid and lower so I have to be so careful not to do too many forward bending exercises. Thank you for so many wonderful videos that are very doable for me.

I am so happy I wrapped up this session by finally getting *Tree top?* pose correctly! after a few attempts in other sessions. Tracking my progress as I find I struggle mostly with my right side!
I still do the previous flow and find it challenging. This one with side plank and tree pose is even more of a challenge. Love them both! I'm so glad you did an updated class. One of my goals is being able to pick myself up and float my legs so I love that it's in this flow. I've been doing your 5 min yoga for serious strength for the upper body daily. This was so fun! The tree pose side plank was so challenging, I had to modify by putting my foot to my shin instead of my thigh, but that's okay! Amazing as always!

You are my favourite Yoga You Tube Lady Kassandra! I have been doing your yoga as an absolute beginner for a few weeks, but have had to stop because I've developed reflux and am losing my voice. I've tried your reflux yoga which was great, but I would love an inversion free session! Pretty please?
I've been avoiding this because core work is my least favourite and i finally tried it out - im amazed to say the 30 minites absolutely flew by and i was able to handle it!! Thank you for making core work accessible and enjoyable!! What a feat 😅

I like the sequences and will check out the older version of this class. I had a hard time keeping my leg in tree pose through all the transitions. I do wish it was more intense though.

Thank you Kassandra! ❤️ On a sad note my family just recently had to put our sweet old boxer Bentley down last Wednesday and I have been having a really hard time and was wondering what type of practice you would recommend for grieving from a significant loss? We were blessed to have him in our lives for 11 and a half years but it still doesn't feel like enough time 💔 he was the best dog and my daughter's best friend, the house feels empty without him now. 😢 Hug your fur babies as much as you can! ❤️

Brilliant practice for the core Kassandra thank you. I've been saving this for today and, as always with your classes, I totally enjoyed it 😁. The tree pose in a side plank was definitely a challenge, great for the obliques and to engage with the mind muscle connection 😊👍.
Well I did try it again and was much more successful this time. It helps not being really ill, as I have been for the last six weeks! I don't think I will ever be able to lift my self up on blocks though!

I feel realy good after this class and I am so happy that I was able to do the hard poses because I was not expecting it in the beginning. It was a good mix between strength poses and stretches, I would love to do more of these classes. Thank you
