    97 Honda Civic Hatchback D16Y7 SOHC Non-vTech
    The car started knocking after WOT on my way home. It seems that the oil levels were extremely low. I am lucky that only real issue is a knocking rod. This Job was successful, but the Knock came back after a week of driving. I have D16Y8 that I need to prep to be ready for drop in.

    Based on some of the comments it seems I wasn't clear in the video. The new rod bearings spun again. The repair for me only lasted a week and the engine started knocking again. I will install a new engine soon. I just haven't had the time to do it. This will be my first time removing and installing an engine.

      May have been a good idea to add assembly lube when installing the rod bearings. Did you replace the top crank bearing halves, or just the bottom?

    do you think they spun again because you didnt check clearances? oil clearance, out of round, runout and taper?

    • @RichLifeStories
      @RichLifeStories  11 месяцев назад

      Yes that is exactly what I think caused it.

      @@RichLifeStories doing my d17 engine on Gen 7 civic and I’m 0.10-0.15mm out of round. Trying to sand the sides that are sticking out for the new undersized bearings with 0.25mm and checking with plastigauge once it’s sanded down. Crankshaft needs to come out and be machined professionally at a shop from what I’ve seen but I’m trying to do it in my own without taking it out. Hopefully it works

    Why drop a new engine in and not really fix it this time?
