The Great Tribulation & End of the Age

  • Watch this new sermon from Pastor Jeff Durbin on the Great Tribulation. This is from our series in the Gospel According to Matthew. This is an often misunderstood section of Scripture that has been used in the creation of many aberrant religious groups and has been used as a source of criticism from many unbelievers and higher-critical scholars. When did Jesus say He was going to return in judgment? Where did He say this was going to take place? Why was He warning them of this?
Is this passage about the "end of the world" or the end of the Old Covenant "age"? As Christians, we all believe that Jesus is returning for the resurrection (1 Cor. 15). However, is this particular passage about that truth or is this about a local judgement upon His generation?
Watch this message in which Pastor Jeff starts the conversation about what the "end of the age" is all about.

Honestly if I find a good church I’ll attend and keep attending, but that’s easier said than done. To many churches only want to teach prosperity they don’t want to teach about hell they don’t want to condemn sin, because all they want is your money, and if they talk about hell (which Jesus taught more about than heaven) people would leave and take their money elsewhere... That being said it’s easier said it’s easier said than done, I find it better to listen to pastor/preachers that line up with the word of God and teach his law, like David Wilkerson etc. basically Bible believing churches and that’s hard to find these days... god bless

While I wholeheartedly agree that all believers need to have a zeal for studying scripture and that it is crucial to recognize that Scripture alone is the inerrarrant standard for what is true not the interpretations or theories of any singular church or pastor, I think it is still important to recognize that all understanding of Scripture comes from God himself through the Holy Spirit, and he gives the gift of understanding in different measures to different people and so while it is ultimately true that we need to "test the spirits" of the messages we hear from others against Scripture, God has and does choose to speak to his people through the mouths of "Spirit-filled" men. I once met a young brother in Christ in the Military that had a tremendous zeal for reading the bible, but he did not regularly attend any church and did not surround himself with other believers because he felt that each church "denomination" and that all pastors were somewhat corrupted in their doctrines, so he clung to the Word knowing it to be the only infallible standard of truth and relied purely on the Holy Spirit to lead him in his own understanding of truth. We had a few great conversations about this but I was and am still concerned with that level of skepticism toward expository preaching because
      A. It is not a good enough reason to forsake the gathering together of the brethren as we are commanded to do.
      B. Inhibits the ability for "Iron to sharpen Iron" and for "each one of you to "work out your faith"
      C. Is contrary to Paul's message in 1 Corinthians 12 and 13 that "knowledge puffs up, but love edifies" and that Love for one another is the hallmark of a believer not their Theology or level of knowledge about God.
      D. And finally is a bit of a pride-rooted attitude that nobody else has anything to teach you about God and Scripture that God would not teach you himself through personal revelation. This is built on a false premise that God does not use others as the means unto that revelation and is ultimately a lie from the pit of hell that the adversary will use to divide the Church when we should be unified.

  • @deloresm7494

Preterism and reformed, the 2 divisions in the church. I cannot discern, they both have great evidences. But for Jeff to say its simple if you know your bible, I'm pretty sure Chuck Missler, John McCarther etc. etc. know their bible. The best thing is to rely on God personally, pray without ceasing, sharing the gospel ,repent and love God with all our hearts, love our neighbour as we love ourselves and represent our Lord with love. We need to live in the day for that's all we really have being ready for the theif in the night. Amen

The problem I’ve noticed with MacArthur (I haven’t listened to Missler) in regards to the Olivet Discourse is that he purposely omits historical statements by Josephus, Tacitus, Eusebius etc in order to maintain his Eschatological view. He even goes as far as to boldly state things like there is absolutely, positively no evidence for a 1st century fulfillment when truthfully there actually is, and a lot of it, and MacArthur knows it but won’t present it because it would cause his congregation to question what they’ve been taught over the decades.

She has never pulled my little sister's baby teeth and let her grown up teeth grow in with the baby teeth still there because according to her it doesn't matter because the rapture is coming. In 1976, when I was 13 years old, I had a wide awake, real, in full color VISION of the Lord's Return...
We lived out in the country in the middle of dusty plowed fields, dirt roads and woods in south Georgia. Everything looked kind of brown and crispy, like it needed rain bad. The corn field across the road in front of the house was starting to turn brown and die.
I went to my bedroom, which faced out the front side of the house and looked out onto our front yard, which had a semi-circular dirt driveway and beside the left entrance was an old dogwood tree which had to be at least a hundred years old. Highway 341 ran from east to west in front of our house, which faced north, and the cornfield I spoke of earlier was on the other side of the highway. There was a slight rise in the middle of this field and you could not see the trees on the other side, so it looked like an ocean of corn that went off into the horizon.
As I lay across my bed looking out the window, contemplating what I saw before me, I began to hear music in the distance. I specifically heard it in my right ear and the direction from which it came made me think of the high school band which practiced several miles southeast from where I lived. When conditions were right we could hear the band playing, but usually only heard the faint beat of drums. This sounded like trumpets and as I was thinking this to myself, I began to notice the music getting louder and louder, coming closer and closer, very quickly.
Within a few seconds the sound wasn't just something that was exterior, but it was inside my head as well, reverberating throughout my entire body. It was so loud and it sounded like lightning crashed directly over my head and, in that split second, the trumpet sound thundered throughout my body and throughout the entire world...everything went dark and my bed and the earth shook violently.
In a flash, I was no longer lying on my bed, but I was standing outside my bedroom window in the front yard and I beheld the scene in front of me with tremendous awe. It was still my front yard, only now everything was different. It seemed as if my entire range of vision was a huge 3D movie screen and I was in the middle of it.
The trumpets continued to sound and I saw that the blue, sunny sky had turned black and the clouds churned and the wind blew with a violence that I had never experienced. The corn field was now a sea of wheat that was golden brown and ripe for harvest and I could see every stalk of wheat individually, billions of them. And I watched as the wind thrashed the wheat until it was beaten down by the storm. I now know that the Bible speaks several times about, in the end time, when the wheat is ripe for harvest, how the wheat will be separated from the tares. The tares are gathered and bundled together for burning and the wheat is gathered into the barn.
Then I noticed the dogwood tree. It was mid-July, so of course I know there should not have been any blossoms on it, they usually bloom around Easter...but the tree was in full bloom. I had never seen anything like this. You couldn't see any leaves on the tree because of the millions of dogwood blossoms. It looked as if it were lit from within, by a glowing whitest of white, neon light and it glowed gloriously against the darkened sky. Now, I know the Bible says no man knows the day nor hour that Jesus will return, but if we watch for the signs, we can know the season. I have always felt that He might come back in the spring when the dogwood tree is in bloom. Of all the things that could have been highlighted in a vision; why the dogwood tree? I believe there is a specific message here. (Update: recently, I prayed about this and I feel the Lord placed into my spirit that this represents the fullness of the gentiles coming in).
Just as I was taking all of this in, lightning filled the sky and the trumpets thundered over head again and in an instant there appeared two angels. They were dressed in white robes, facing each other up in the air and blowing golden trumpets. They were huge and filled the sky in front of me and I knew that the entire world must be seeing this as well. When I say huge, I mean like the size of the highest mountains, literally.
I didn't think the trumpets could get any louder, but they grew louder still, building to a great crescendo and I heard a great shout that was louder than anything that you could imagine. And with that shout, it's as if the earth fell silent, the black, violent clouds began to roll back onto themselves from the center of the northeastern sky and I saw light in the distance. It was more a combination of light and clearing of the clouds in the distance that got my attention. As I looked up at this shaft of light and clearing sky, I saw what seemed to be fluttering and movement in the distance. As it came into view, I saw Jesus on a white horse and behind him were millions of angels and saints on white horses. It was at this moment, when I realized what I was seeing, that it disappeared and I was back in my room lying on my bed. Everything was back to normal and I was again looking out at a bright, sunny day.

I randomly open my bible when i wake up and read something and try to understand it, which i do a poor job of. Well this morning it was Ezekiel Chapter 11. Thank you so much for giving me better understanding, i thought it was tied together and put it in the back of my mind. I had listen to Matthew the night before by audio book and seems like God wanted me to know a little more. I will have to watch some more video's of yours.
I really do need to find something local, i just don't like the sunday worship. I don't know why, maybe it feels catholic to me. I will work on finding something like you said. I spend everyday seeking God and really has always been part of my life, since 2020 it has just increased by 10 fold. I depend on him for everything now. Thanks again, great message. Glory to God.

I wish there was a fulfilled prophecy church in my area. But there simply isn't. There is a VERY small group meeting in a wonderful old country tiny little church building way out in the country in the VERY rural area in eastern Alabama. Its about an hour and a quarter driving time from my house. I go around 2 times a month due to gas and wear and tare on the car. But for now, I'm hoping!

There was minimal talk about Revelation and I don’t understand why. What about The Great Tribulation spoken of in Revelation was that referring to the past? I like Jeff but this was not put together well, at least that how it seems to me. Hopefully he’s just not done with this topic yet, because where was The AntiChrist mentioned who does wonders and miracles and implements the mark of the beast? Again, I can only believe that is not done with this topic. Way too much was not covered.

I first saw Si Ten and taught he was disrespectful then Jeff was the 2nd speaker and he made me a fan . I have always known there is something out there I cant explain. There are so many wonders we as humans cant explain. My question is how does someone like me who has not ruled out the possibility of a god and REALLY wish to believe like others do, really get true faith. Why does my mind change each day with my belief as to how we exist. I dont want to just say I believe because if there was a god he would know I am just faking it. Either way I live my life as if God exists but I just want TRUE faith..../

the Gospel of Jesus Christ is of the God-man He was, being prophesied to come, did just that, perfectly. He was crucified and resurrected, seen by many, and ascended to the Father. His message simple, Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand! Trust and believe He is the begotten Son of God, with the Father and Spirit since the beginning! His obedience to the Will of the Father to bring about Salvation for those whom believe. God saves, thru Jesus. my friend, talk to the Father. The final coming if Christ will be sudden, seen by all, and final. Believers WILL have tribulation in this world but "The tribulation" was the Persecution of Nero and destruction of Jerusalem.
Thank heaven for that. Why is everyone so interested in believing the whole world will go to hell and the church will fail? It sounds like a death cult.

Pastor Jeff, I appreciate your heart for God and I've been blessed listening to you! I would have you consider that Matt 24 and Luke 21 are not the same, even though they have similarities. Matthew is a tax collector and Jew and his Gospel is very much focused on the Jews and looking towards the 70th Week of Daniel, the end of the age, which I would argue is specifically for the Jews and God finishing his plan with Israel and opening their eyes to their true Messiah! The Matthew 24 account is a private briefing on the Mt of Olives with his disciples after he had left the Temple and was done teaching. Jesus specifically lists events that will happen and then says the key phrase "after these things" in v. 29. Luke, on the other hand, was a Gentile, and his Gospel has very much a Gentile focus. Lukes account was Jesus earlier that day teaching in the Temple. He says some similar things that will happen, but then the key phrase in v. 12 "But before these things take place." This is a very key distinction that most people miss. I truly believe that Matthew's account was very Jewish, focused on the Jews and what will happen at the end of days in the 70th week of Daniel, where Luke's account focused on the church and what would happen in 70 AD and the destruction of the temple. And we know that the Jewish believers took these words to heart and fled the city when they saw these signs and that there is no account of any Christians dying during the seige of Jerusalem and destruction of the temple in 70 AD. Just my thoughts and quick synopsis. God Bless!!

Corinna Warren , please read 1st John 1;5-7 , the blood of Jesus Christ ( free gift ) cleansed you of your sins , but only when this happen ( 1st John 1;5-7 This then is the message which we have heard of him , and declare unto you , that God is light , and in him is no darkness at all . If we say that we have fellowship with him , and walk in darkness , we lie , and do not the truth ; But if we walk in the light , as he is in the light , we have fellowship one with another , and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin ) . To believe and truth in Jesus Christ , you must live even as he lived ( 1st John 2;4-6 He that saith , I know him , and keepeth not his commandments , is a liar , and the truth is not in him . But whoso keepeth his word , in him verily is the love of God perfected ; hereby know we that we are in him . He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk even as he walked ) . Jesus Christ came to do the will of the Father ( John 6;38 For I came down from heaven , not to do mine own will , but the will of him that sent me ) ; and this is the Father's will ( Matthew 7;21-23 Not every one that saith unto me , Lord , Lord , shall enter into the kingdom of heaven ; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven . Many will say to me in that day , Lord , Lord , have we not prophesied in thy name ? and in thy name have cast out devils ? and in thy name done many wonderful works ? And then will I profess unto them , I never knew you ; depart from me , ye that work iniquity ) . What is iniquity ? Answer , SIN . What is sin ? Answer , 1st John 3;4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law ; for sin is the transgression of the law . The commandments of God is the covenant between him and the covenant people Israel ; remember , Jesus is the mediator between the Father and the covenant people , just as Moses was the mediator until Jesus replaced him . The covenant is the ten commandments , the statutes and the judgments , which defines the ten commandments , and they do not change because they are the love of God ( 1st John 5;3 For this is the love of God , that we keep his commandments ; and his commandments are not grievous ) . The mediators ( Moses and Jesus ) are given laws to protect the covenant people when they violate the laws of the Father ; Moses was the law of flesh through works ( blood of the animals and oblations for your flesh/body , not your heart/mind ; which could not forgive your sins , but kept God from killing your flesh ) , and Jesus Christ is the law of spirit through faith ( free gift - blood of Jesus through faith - believing God by repenting of your sins by starting to keep his commandments even as Jesus did ) , faith cometh by hearing , and hearing by the word of God . Jesus Christ is the mediator of faith ( Romans 3;27-31 Where is boasting then ? It is excluded . By what law ? of works ? Nay ; but by the law of faith . Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law . Is he the God of the Jews only ? is he not also of the Gentiles ? Yes , of the Gentiles also ; Seeing it i one God , which shall justify the circumcision by faith , and the uncircumcision through faith . Do we then made void the law of through faith ? God forbid ; yes , we establish the law ) . The law of works is the blood of the animals through the mediator Moses , and the law of faith is the blood of Jesus , our new mediator , by repenting and keeping the laws of God . Read verse 31 again , do we then made void the law ( law of God ) through faith ( blood of Jesus ) ? God forbid ( no ) ; yes , we establish the law ( law of God ) . For there is no respecter of persons with God , but in every nation he that feareth God and worketh righteousness he accepts and grafts them into the covenant of Israel ( Romans 11;11-22 ) , but only the nation of Israel is under the covenant of God , under the laws of God ( Exodus 24;1-8 , Psalm 147;19-20 , Jeremiah 31;31-40 , Amos 3;1-2 , Ezekiel 20;30-38 , Romans 2;11-15 , Romans 9;1-5 , 1st Corinthians 9;19-21 , Hebrews 8;6-13 ) . messenger Israel Thank you for taking the time to write this. I have read it and it appears you are well versed in the Bible. The scriptures you brought forth are correct and true but your interpretation of them is incorrect. There are many scriptures I could quote to counter what you have said to prove this. But I don’t think I can convince you otherwise, so I won’t try. I just really really hope you come to understand that repenting of sin by keeping the law is not what saves a person but merely a sign that you have been saved by grace through faith in Jesus (the ONLY one who can keep and fulfil the law)

@@messengerisrael3817 You are mixing the two covenants.
Are you saying that "walking in the light as He is in the light" is walking in the commandments? Walking without sin? Is that what you are saying?
Then what sin is He continually cleansing us of, if we are walking in "no sin?"
Light is Truth, and knowledge of that truth. Maybe to better understand that truth you should start by reading and understanding Paul's writings. I would suggest Philippians 3:9 to understand what RIGHTEOUSNESS is. Then Romans 10:2 to see how it's used.
Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, not our own (which is by the works of the law). Until we understand RIGHTEOUSNESS we are just babes, only able to take in the milk. Hebrews 5:13
Two completely different and separate covenants (Hebrews 8:9) and the new is NOT ACCORDING to the old. You seem to be combining them. Mixing them like mixing old wineskins with new wine or mixing cold and hot getting lukewarm. Not a good idea, Jesus says we will end up with nothing.
Faith in Christ is all that is needed to have eternal life. Until we understand that, we will not understand what James is saying to the Jews who were under the Old Covenant. Paul was sent to the Gentiles who were never in a covenant with God. And until we understand how to divide between the two covenants, just stick with Paul's writings, unless of course you are Jewish and and coming out of the Old into the New. But never mix them.
Both covenants are still valid, and they both have their own terms. Combining them will only lead to confusion.

@@randsollie7921 Please read the following ( 1st John 2;1-7 , " My little children , these things write I unto you , that ye sin not . Brethren , I write no new commandment unto you , but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning . The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning " ) . This is the truth ( John 17;17 , " Sanctify them through thy truth ; thy word is truth " ; also Psalm 119;142 , " Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness , and thy law is the truth " ) . You talk about mixing the old covenant with the new , but you do not understand that the old covenant and the new covenant are the same . The covenant is an agreement between the God of Israel and the children of Israel ; Which is the ten commandments , statutes and judgments to define the ten commandments . Can you show be in the bible about the God of Israel making a covenant with any other nation except the children of Israel ; if so , please let me know . Moses was the mediator of the covenant at Mount Sinai , and Jesus Christ replaced him after he was resurrected , and appeared before the Father in heaven for our sins ( Hebrews 9;24 ) . The Gentiles/Strangers who wishes to be part of the covenant of Israel must do the things that Israel is required to do ; as stated by the apostle of the Gentile ( Romans 2;13-15 , " For not the hearers of the law are just before God , but the doers of the law shall be justified . For when the Gentiles , which have not the law , do by nature the things contained in the law , these , having not the law , are a law unto themselves ; Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts , their conscience also bearing witness , and accusing or else excusing one another " ) . The God of Israel is no respecter of person , but in any nation , he that feareth God and worketh righteousness he accept , and they are grafted into the covenant of Israel ; But Israel is the only nation to have made a covenant with God ( Exodus 24;1-8 , Psalm 147;19-20 , Jeremiah 31;31-40 , Amos 3;1-2 , Ezekiel 20;30-38 , Romans 9;1-5 , Romans 11;11-22 , Hebrews 8;6-13 ) . In the covenant at Mount Sinai , the mediator Moses received the covenant on two tablets of stone and written in ink in the book of the covenant ( statutes and judgments ) ; but the people did not believe and did not continue in the covenant ; wherefore God gave the mediator ( Moses ) , who is the husband/ protector for the people , a law of sin sacrifice to keep God from killing the people ; The law of Moses , or the law of animal sacrifice , or the law of sin and death , or the the law of works , or the schoolmaster , of the whole law , or the circumcision of the flesh for sin . This law has many names , but it could not forgive your sins of the heart/mind/conscience/ spirit ; But kept God from killing your flesh/body . When you transgress against the law of God you fall into sin , and the wages of sin is death . To redeem you requires a sin sacrifice , and the law under the mediator Moses could not do it . To serve the God of Israel , you must live by faith ( believing him by repenting of your sins by starting to keep his words through the Mediator of faith , or the law of Christ , or the law of faith , or the law of liberty , or the circumcision of the heart for sin ( Jesus Christ ) ; Who is the only one to have fully completed the will of the Father , by obeying all his laws without sin . Jesus Christ came in the flesh to be the atonement for our sins , and to complete the instruction of the Father ( Deuteronomy 18;15-19 , " The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee , of thy brethren , like unto me ; unto him ye shall hearken ; According to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly , saying , Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God , neither let me see this great fire any more , that I die not . And the LORD said unto me , They have well spoken that which they have spoken . I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren , like unto thee , and will put my words in his mouth ; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him . And it shall come to pass , that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name , I will require it of him ) , for eternal life ( given us his word , or instructions , or the commandments ) . In John 5;37 , Jesus stated that no man has hear the Father or seen his shape at any time ; So the one who showed Moses his back parts in the wilderness was the Word ; And the Word became flesh to be a sin sacrifice for the atonement for our sins ( John 1;1-18 ) . Jesus Christ was called Jehovah , or Yahweh , or I AM THAT I AM , or the God of Abraham , Isaac , and Jacob when he gave the covenant to Moses . most people think that Jesus came by Mary , but he came through Mary to become flesh man ; but he has existed from eternity ( Micah 5;1-2 , " Now gather thyself in troops , O daughter of troops ; he hath laid siege against us ; they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek . But thou , Bethlehem Ephratah , though thou be little among the thousands of Judah , yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel ; whose goings forth have been from of old , from everlasting " ) . He replaced the mediator of works ( law of animal sacrifice through Moses ) , with his blood through faith ( believing by keeping the word of God ) . In order to come under this mediator blood , the Father must first hear you ( Malachi 3;16-18 ) , then he draw you to the Son ( John 6;43-45 ) to be cleaned of your sins , to become a Son of God ( John 14;6 ) . Now , go back to 1st John 1;5-7 ; Which tells you that you must first start obeying the will of the Father , before he can draw you to the Son , to be clean of your past sins . Shalom !

@@messengerisrael3817 I think what you are not understanding is that the New is NOT ACCORDING to the Old. Hebrew 8:9
I also think you are missing the fact that our covenant is based on a promise God made to Abraham 430 years before He entered into the Law covenant with Israel, and because it was established before the law covenant was given, the law covenant can not nullify the promise God made to Abraham. That's all spelled out in Galatians 3.
Both covenants are still valid today. Romans 7:1-4 compare the two separate covenants to two separate marriages. And combining them is adultry.
Maybe that's why people are mixing them together: because they dont realize they are two covenants that are still both valid.

I never questioned Left Behind and I don’t recall hearing any other views until last summer when I heard RC Sproul and John MacArthur talking about it and found Voddie Baucham’s Revelation series. It was too confusing with too many big words. Reapproaching it this summer, I have heard you and Voddie and it makes more sense like a silent, secret rapture of Christians doesn’t make sense. Trying to talk about it is like explaining to a King James Onliest why that doesn’t make sense. It also blew my mind to hear people say the church isn’t Israel.

Matt 24:3-14 is in between some of the verses quoted here. That section of scripture seems to use future language, as to say that these are future predictions, not happening now or to that generation. The tribulation described afterwards also seems to flow from a future/predictive description. So far into this video it seems that the Pastor is saying this tribulation has already happened, and did at the time Jesus was speaking these words. Is that what he means to say?

    • @kinghavox2011
      @kinghavox2011 3 года назад +1

I feel you on that. The only way to see which translation is accurate is to study the Bible in its original language (which would have been greek/hebrew since greek was the standard speech of the time)
As far as contradictions go, the true word of God never contradicts itself. The Lord said that His word would never pass away (Matthew 24:35)
I do understand where your coming from because im testing my traditions as well.

All translations are done by fallible humans who give their best attempt to interpret the infallible Word.
The Bible was written mostly in Hebrew and Greek, so it's best to go back to those original languages when you you get to problem passages.
KJV is great, but it's not the original language. NASB is also a really good one as well.
English speakers are so blessed to have a plethora of excellent translations. Many people in the world have NO translation into their language.

The KJV is not wrong. But the word “world” used to have 2 meanings in the 17th century.
One referred to the universe. The other meaning of the word in that time frame is a little trickier to understand.
The form of the word “world” used here comes from a merging of the 2 Anglo Saxon words “were” and “eld”. Which means “man” and “age”. To put it plainly “were eld” merged together as “world” meant age of man. Which is simply a reference to time.

I enjoy listening to Jeff...only issue is that although he is correct in his interpretation, he should also understand that Bible prophecy is presently being fulfilled in Israel...the Jews have most if not all the materials necessary to construct the 3rd temple in Israel.
In addition, they have the the red heifers for the sacrifice and the priestly garments for the high priest, even more, the Sanhedrin has been revived and they have already chosen a new High priest.
It's seems that very soon the jews will have a 3rd temple built and will establish once more the sacrificial system I'm Israel.
Bible prophecy continues to be fulfilled and soon the Antichrist will arise given to the abomination of desolation.

The KJV says "and the end of the World", and your reading in "and the close of the Age" in Mathew 24:3. That didn't come from the Greek, what kind of book are you reading?

I'm 100% on board with Jeff's eschatology, but I'm not convinced that dispensationalim's rapture stifles evangelistic fervour. Just look at the Southern Baptists who have done more missionary work than anyone and of course the Pentacostals are everywhere in the world; so, I think the damage that dispensational theology has done to the Kingdom lies elsewhere. From experience I think the greatest damage has been to the unity of the Church; provoked for the most part by Dispensationalism's general intolerance of other genuine Christians to the point of treatment as virtual infidels. The divisions which were created weren't lost on the world creating an unnecessary contempt by it for Christianity.

Thomas's two-volume work "Revelation: An Exegetical Commentary." These give a balanced approach to scripture that Jeff seems to be lacking - don't get me wrong, Jeff is a fine brother, but preterism is an extremely shortsighted way of looking at scripture.

"Thus says The Lord: I HAVE SENT FAMINE UPON THE LAND, even as in the day I caused a famine throughout the land of Israel. No, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of The Lord. As it was then, so it is this day also.
From the churches of men and from the devout I have removed My hand, and from My people I have taken back My spirit.
Lo, one full day has passed since I left them desolate, in severe thirst, with nothing at all to nourish them. I have left them in darkness, with no light to guide them, the still small voice silent. And what is this I hear among the churches of men and those devout in Israel, even among those who have recognized Mashiach in Israel? What voice do I hear lifted up to Heaven, crying out for guidance, longing for My presence and the Word of The Lord? What sound from the people has entered into the ears of The Holy One?!
    I HEAR NOTHING!...
Not a word is spoken, no outcry is made!
No repentance is offered, no plea is lifted up!...
No one thirsts, not one hungers, not one of them
Seeks The Light or grasps My robe, that I might guide
Them through this darkness, through this desolate land!...
    None listen for My voice!
Behold, I have spoken a multitude of words, a great number of speeches, Letter after Letter, Volume after Volume! Yet they will not eat of this bread, for they are already full! Nor will they drink from this cup, for they are drunken! Nor can they lift their heads to look upon this glory, for the weight of their sin remains upon them.
They refuse to see, their eyes are blinded! They will not listen, their ears are unclean! They cover their faces and stop their ears! Foolish people, most wicked generation, I do not know you! Fill up then the full measure of your error, according to the perverse doctrines of your fathers! Bear the sin of your heresies, drink from the cup of your blasphemies, to the fullest!
Yes, I hear your songs and your spiritual hymns, offered up to God... HE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE ME![1] I see your uplifted hands, and I hear all these prayers offered up in the name of Christ... HE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE ME!
Perverse generation, the Day of The Lord is here; yes, I have declared it! In these very Letters and by My servants, I have made it known! Lo, through this man I have spoken it, for he does seek to honor Me... I HAVE BROUGHT GLORY TO MY NAME! Yet you have hated both Me and My Word! You have rejected the voice of The Living God, you have loathed the messengers of The Most High! Therefore shall I also reject you, for your ways are loathsome in My sight! I have left you in famine, and now I shall leave you utterly desolate.
For I have called to My lambs; their hearts sing in anticipation. I have called to My sheep; they have embraced My voice. Yea, I have entered in and gathered them together. Behold, the harvest is separated, all is ready, the door is shut.
I have but to call out, and the first election shall pass from your sight, and the gate shall be shut. For the door is shut already, the time has passed; no more shall pass through.
I tell you the truth, you have done this!
You have decided, your decision is made!
Yes, YOU have shut the door to ME!...
Therefore is it also shut to you...
And it shall not be opened again
Until you breathe your last, testifying to the
Name of Glory and Him crucified,
Until the time I open it anew...
Behold, I shall open the gates of the city
And the dead shall pass through,
The martyrs of The Lord lifted up to glory!"
    ~
“Yet understand this: In times past I overlooked the ignorance of the people. Yet now I command all people everywhere to repent in sincerity and in truth. In like manner, I have overlooked the ignorance of those who call The Messiah by another name. Yet now I command all who have ears to hear, to call upon His name as it is, was, and has always been, and not as they presume it to be. Indeed I am calling all tribes, tongues, peoples and nations to embrace Him as He truly is, and not as the churches of men would have Him be, says The Lord.”
    ~
"Yet His Glory surrounds us on every side, testifying to His majesty beyond question! Indeed, we are without excuse!
Behold, even the whole of creation shouts,
    “YAHUSHUA is YAHUWAH!”
For it is He by whom all things consist,
It is He who causes to be...
For The Lord our God is One!"
