I grew up avoiding Revelation and not "getting" Matthew 24. Recently I have been listening to your End of the Age sermons and because of your excellent teaching, I've been able to see how the various scriptures string together so that they make sense and confirm JESUS's authority. It is like finding the right key to unlock a door, after kicking for years against a locked one, so THANK YOU!
What an astonishing sermon and invaluable history lesson proving all this has already been fulfilled during the first century! That's not to say judgment doesn't follow sin throughout history or in the future. It most certainly does! But for the first time in my life, I no longer have to be terrified of the book of Revelation, having read it many times and being afraid because of modern (supposed) eschatology by greedy false prophets out to sell books. Thank you so much! This is amazing!
I can't figure out where I stand on eschatology.... everyone is so sure of their different positions.... but they all seem to have places that fall short.. I'm overwhelmed.
This is a time to put on the armor of God and stay close to him. It is highly likely we are lied to on the timeline. Does not mean we are not in Christ. We are set up to be deceived by listening to mainstream narrative alone.
Best eschatology I have found is what's called (post trib-pre wrath) Absolutely makes the most sense. Everything fits. Unlike all the other views I've ever heard.
Yeah would be epic. Brother John MacArthur has been Dispensationalist so long I don't think he's able to grasp Covenantal Postmillennialism. He HAD to have talked to RC Sproul on these matters. JMA is 81 - I still enjoy his teaching greatly. I recall hearing him at our Summer Bible Conference at Scott Memorial Baptist Church in 1980 I was 16 & JMA was 41 - and he's not wavered since then. We just come to different conclusions on "Last Days Madness" doctrine. To his credit, he doesn't seem to make industry of pushing LDM doctrine like some do (LaHaye - too much, D Jeremiah too much). What Jeff is teaching here was water on dry ground 20 years ago. We were disappointed at the string of failed Prophetic failures from 1980-2000 and realized that God's Word was True but this Dispensationalism was highly mistaken. Then we heard Gary DeMar interviewed on Christian talk radio and were blown away - had never heard of Postmillennialism before. We bought his book 'Last Days Madness" and a dozen others and studied hard for 2-3 years. Now with RUclips it's more accessible - I'm still glad I have the books but the videos help greatly. Later if anyone asks I can put a link for my favorite Postmillennial Messages (besides any JD stuff)
Jeff Durbin recently turned down an invitation to have a public, moderated debate on the subject "Is the coming of Christ in Matt 24:30 a future or past event?" It will be interesting to see if he will continue to avoid such a debate in the future.
Pastor Durbin; this teaching has changed my life and I have not been able to share this context with other belivers because they don't want to hear it understand this specific teaching, I'm in hard situations because of this. I would like to thank anybody that reads this to keep me in your prayers for voice and strength to keep going and trying to share this massage to others that we the future in a gloom and caloric future. Love you and i thank it Lord Jesus Christ to have showed us the truth. But my text is there's is no 4:5 in Phillemom there's only one letter😔

During the Passover Seder every year, it is taught that each person, as the Exodus narrative is read, is to view themselves as if they personally were delivered out of Egypt. The Jewish perspective on these narratives is to view themselves as part of the story. Yes, Yeshua was speaking to first century Israelites, but as His disciples we (today) are in view in His teachings - as much as the actual hearers when He spoke in person. A demonstration of that is when He, in John 17:20, specifically states that He is not only praying for those standing in His presence in that day, but also for all those that would believe in Him through THEIR (His hearers/disciples) word. They recorded Him. We are included in the audience via their word. I like Jeff and his ministry in regards to apologetics, but this is where his Reformed, Calvanistic, Greco-Roman thinking is getting in the way of his understanding the scriptures in this regard. Biblical prophecy has many fulfillments, usually with an ultimate fulfillment at some point. Matthew 24 could partly be applied to 70 A.D., but not ultimately. It coincides with Revelation. Is Satan "bound" right now? Was 70 A.D. the worst this planet has ever seen? Was it the worst the Jewish people ever experienced? The Holocaust wasn't a tad worse perhaps? It was AFTER 70 A.D. that they were dispersed all around the planet. Wasn't that phenomena a part of Yeshua's description in Matthew 24 as well. Had the gospel reached every nation before 70 A.D.?
It wasn't until I took an OT class during my undergraduate study that I realized how important was the Tabernacle and, later, the Temple. It was the very place designated by God to meet with humanity. Contemporary Christians, comfortable with the idea of the indwelling Spirit, aren't struck by the awesomeness of having a building that God promised to inhabit. And not only inhabit but there promised to forgive sin through substitutionary atonement. This incredible place was the very center of Jewish religious and social life for centuries. What would it mean that God would allow it to be destroyed, as per the prophecy of his Son?
Jeff, I have a question that maybe you can answer on your radio show if not in the comments. If Matthew 24 / Luke 21 / Mark 13 / Revelation is about the judgement on Jerusalem in 70 AD, what verses tell us that the Lord is coming back for a second coming for the future generations? I'm trying to understand your view because on the church website under Doctrine it says that you believe Jesus is coming back to judge the nations. I appreciate your teachings on Matthew 24 and I've listened to about 3 sermons of yours on this chapter, but I am still confused on his second coming, what the bible tells us about it, etc... Also, it would be pretty helpful to understand why you believe that Revelation was written before 70 AD. Thank you Pastor Jeff, for all your knowledge on the subject I ask this question because I'm seeking the truth!
@@jorrharris Okay I have a lot of passages. To many to type out lol so I'll give you a few! 1.) Thessalonians 4:16-17 2.) Hebrews 9:28 3.) Revelations 1:7, 22:12 4.) Titus 2:13 5.) 2 Peter 3:10 6.) Matthew 24:42-44, 16:27 7.) John 14:1-3 8.) Acts 1:10-11 Read these passages. And before you read them. Pray and ask God that He will give you eyes to see and ears to listen. Pray that He will help you understand what you are about to read. I'll be praying for you as well, that God will helo guide you and strengthen your faith more.
I have goosebumps listening to this! I knew it sounded like that's what He was talking about when I read the text. I also believed Israel/Jerusalem was the Harlot after reading Old Testament passages and comparing it to Revelation! So now it all makes sense! Wow...
Thank you God for bringing me out of the cult that is premellinelism, and has caused me to see the truth! I fought it for so long but christ broke me with his rod of iron!

The post mellinial view does make very much sense, and I've always believed at least that a portion of revelations was revealed. But what I ponder is, just as it was with Noah, it will be similar at some point as far as the state of mankind on earth. With Noah, a real flood came, not metaphorically, not some type of special "biblical language", it was real and happened. Now there is suppose to be a judgement of the earth by burning, but suddenly it is just really metaphorically meaning something else, not so much literal. I dont see how that adds up, there is a line that should be drawn somewhere. I see that not believing in God's judgment with supernatural power is merely just unbelief. If anyone has thoughts please post.
Yeah I would say this is just my opinion but I agree with Jeff that the tribulation happened 70 ad. But from what I read from further study in the bible is when Jesus comes back sure it could be like the days of Noah. He makes his enemies his footstool. Does say put, lud, meschech and tubal which are modern day middle eastern nations are going to fight against him at his return. He's gonna judge the kings of the earth and bring his new Jerusalem down. But the survivors of those nations that didn't go fight him that weren't part of the first resurrection have to go up from year to year and celebrate the feasts or no rain on there nation.
Awesome message, the crazy thing is I have been having these same thoughts and talk with God lately and he is really true to what he says. People are worried about end times and this or that instead of going to Jesus now and doing his will
Many 'Amens' and Blessings from South Dakota!!! Praise God for His faithful and hard-working servants. If it is about Jesus and the eternal truths the Father has made plain to every human...GET AFTER IT!!!
Delia Delgado, I was a JW and had so many nightmares about the “end coming soon” for years. The Watchtower is really pushing the “great tribulation” and “Armageddon” hard right now. I found and accepted Jesus two years ago so I am free from that bondage but millions are chained to the WT’s interpretations. Jeff is an excellent teacher. The end times was still blurry to me until I began listening to his recent series. Talk about eye opening. 👀 I really hope you can reach your JW friends.
@@kickpublishing it's eschatology which is somewhat of a tertiary issue at best secondary however still important but I think calling it heresy is out of bounds. sounds like you may be a legalist mr. President
Eschatology is not tertiary, at least it wasn't to Paul when he marked out the false teaching of Hymenaeus and Philetus regarding the rapture (cf. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-2).
@@carolberubee when I say it's a tertiary issue I mean in relation to Salvation one's eschatology does not have any bearing on their salvation therefore it is an issue we can discuss as loving Brothers and Sisters in Christ and disagree on and still be brothers and sisters so in that sense yes it is a tertiary issue. Blessings.
They had the exact same issues and problems going on in their time. Maybe even worse than us today! They were all saying that THEY lived in the last days! Of course meaning the last days as in.. “the end of the age” and judgment coming upon Jerusalem.
Mr Potatoehead Why does the mark of the beast have to do with some sort of technology, like a “chip”?? As so many Christians seem to think it is and It’s only because so many pastors and Christians specifically talk about that only and it’s absolutely EVERYWHERE, that now Christians seem to have it stuck in their heads, that it’s “going to be” some sort of chip or something! The text doesn’t say anything about a chip or something being inserted into their hands or heads! But what does the text say?? It doesn’t say “in” the hand, if you actually read it in the Greek, it says ON! And it says it is the name of the beast or the number of its name. Also saying.. “This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666.” We know that Nero demanded worship and not only that, but in Greek numerology.. Nero’s name calculated as 600,60,6=666! He also had the nickname “beast.” He hated Christians and killed them because they would not give him worship and persecuted them for 42 months, like the text says! Also how did he know someone was a Christian, how could he tell?? And the things he did to them was absolutely brutal!! He used them as human torches to light up His garden, he skinned them alive and threw them in with the lions for fun, he would tie them to stakes, put animals skin on him and eat them!! The mark of the beast is also not literal, in Deuteronomy 6.. regarding God’s greatest commandment to love him with all your heart, soul, might and strength, he tells Israel to have his name as a sign on their hands and on their forehead. On their foreheads it meant giving ownership to God and their right hands was a sign of their action, their actions showed that everything they did, was for God and that’s who they worshipped and followed!
As for “legalised homosexuality” for the Jews it was an abomination, but not for the Gentiles.. They practiced homosexuality, orgies, along with incest, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it!! And you’re talking about morality?? They had no morals! “Aren’t we more wicked than Israel in 70AD”?? Um...No, not at all!! When Pontus Pilot asked the Jews at Jesus’ trial.. “shall I crucify your king”? They actually replied, “we have NO king but Cesar”!! Denying Yahweh right than and there! And they actually had their own Messiah KILLED!! They kept killing and stoning all the righteous that were sent to them! Do we go and stone people to death or have them crucified, for committing adultery, committing sexual immorality like having sex before marriage?? No! But most importantly.. Israel was colluding with Rome to have the Christians killed!! And they were still doing temple sacrifices, after Jesus has made himself the ultimate sacrifice! Jesus had to destroy Jerusalem, not only to punish them but also to bring in the new covenant! God does NOT owe anyone an apology!!
@@specialk7715, if Nero was the antichrist of whom John spoke, when did he sit in the temple in Jerusalem, defile it, and declare himself god? And when was he slain with the breath of Christ and destroyed by the manifestation of Christ's parousia?
@@carolberubee Well there is no question Nero declared himself a god he had christians killed because they wouldn't say Caesar is lord. Also during the siege of Jerusalem it was Nero's army that was sent to take over Israel his own generals Vespasian and his son Titus who would both becomes caesars themselves. But Titus went into the temple during the siege and sacrificed animals mocking the Jews God saying that Rome's gods were stronger. Now if thats not an abomination or a defilement of the temple idk what is you can look at Titus as a hand of Nero doing Nero's bidding. Titus did sit in the temple he did defile it under the authority of Rome specifically Nero.
I'm struggling with verses 30-31 in Matthew 24. I've watched many Jeff's sermons on this topic and this view makes sense to me EXCEPT those 2 verses. Can anyone help me with this?
Yes sir I think can help. At least point you in a direction. The bible is a huge puzzle that God has laid out for us to put together. Verse 31 is relating to Daniel 7:13. This is Jesus being taken up in His ascension, to receive a kingdom and glory. We've been taught that the Son of Man coming on the clouds is referring to Jesus coming DOWN, but in fact, this is talking about Jesus being taken UP to sit at the right hand of God. Verse 31 is what a verse that lets us know that the book of Revelation is describing the events that fall on the judgement of Jerusalem. They use the same wording. Revelation is all about God bringing wrath on HIS OWN PEOPLE!! His chosen people, the Jews. That's why it's so scary.
Matt.24:30,31 are not 2nd coming descriptions. When Jesus received all the acriments of rulership from the Ancient of Days in Daniel 7:13 His 1st assignment was to make good on his endictment of the apostate Jews in Matt.23 with the 7 woe oracles. Matt.26:64 is a major clue to the timing of Matt.24:30 with Jesus at His trial declaring to the high priest and the entourage that they would see Him coming on the clouds in judgement in their lifetime. Not the end of the world but the end of the age, the old covenant age. To make way for the new covenant in His blood. Daniel 9:27.
@@davidwoods6015 thank you for responding. I still don't understand verse 31. "He will send out this angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds." I once heard Pastor Jeff say this is his sending out of the apostles with the gospel but if you look forward to verses 40 and 41 where one will be taken and one will be left, it seems more literal. It's a lot to cover in a comment section but I appreciate your help.
Even IF Jesus was only talking to them, in the great commission, Jesus told them to teach ALL that He had taught them, to the world. Much love brothers and sisters Jesus Christ is King
Jeff, you are a most excellent apologist and nothing can be taken from that. Nevertheless, in this circumstance it appears you are at least ignoring Matthew 24:29-31. If taken as written--God breathed--the question must be asked: in an amillenial eschotology, when did these things occur? When did the"tribulation" occur? When did the sun darken? And, when did the moon not give its light. And, we did the stars fall from heaven. And so forth. May God grant you His intellect and wisdom in all things
Isaiah 13: "Behold the day of the Lord comes, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger to make the land a desolation and destroy its sinners from it. For the stars of the heavens and their constellations will not give off their light. The sun will be dark at its rising and the moon will not give off its light." This is a judgment on Babylon. When ever you see this type of language and it occurs several times in the old testament its describing the judgment of a nation not the end of the world. The stars don't literally fall from the sky if that really happened we would all be dead. Babylon was judged for their wickedness just like God judged Israel in 70 AD exactly like Jesus said he would in Matthew 24.
@@Chico60Colt With all respect and love in Christ, may I simply say that once we begin to "spiritualize" Scripture, where do we stop? The words of the prophet Isaiah are God-breathed as is all of Scripture. As such, they are fully understandable--perspicuous. A faithful reading of Isaiah 13 gives no indication that the tumult described from verses 9 through 16 is limited to one city or country or region. There are no metaphores in view, only direct descriptions. I cannot explain why the Lord put these words here, but here they are. And, what they describe is far more than what happened to Babylon. God's blessings.
@@jackuber7358 so if thats true and it describes more the what actually happened to Babylon did this prophecy not come true. You guys keep saying spiritualizing scripture its not spiritualizing scripture its letting scripture interpret scripture and not us interpreting it and inputing our own traditions and beliefs. Was Babylon judged?
@@Chico60Colt I have caused you anger, brother, and for that I apologize. Peace, brother.
This is like the tenth sermon by Pastor Jeff on this subject, and I’ve gotta say I think I’m a Post-millennialist now. I’m only 18, but my whole life I was raised pre-mil pre-trib, I also wasn’t raised Reformed. But over the past 2 years the Lord has opened my eyes to the Truth of Scripture in regards to His Sovereignty.
Just because you realize pre-mill pre-trib is an errant doctrine does not mean that reformed theology is true. In other words, if someone opens your eyes to one lie that does not mean that everything else they say is correct. I am 52 and it is wonderful to see someone 18 who even understands these doctrines much less who is comparing alternatives. Good on you Chris!! I have realized that no one has all the answers on every doctrine and you should caution yourself to beware of any one man OR denomination OR Theology that claims it is correct on everything. There are over 30,000 denominations out there with good people in them who all believe their doctrine is correct. Well, they can't all be. Is there one that does have all doctrine correct then? YES, his name is Christ Jesus and let every other man be a liar! All these differences we have on doctrine are good to study and compare but ultimately NONE of us have all the answers. The differences in doctrine can be compared to a type in the OT. For example, the law was a type or foreshadowing of a better covenant to come. Scripture is full of types. All of our created, man made dinstinctions/denominations/theologies/etc are but a shadow of the perfect truth we will learn when Christ reigns and He is our one and only high priest. Sorry if any of this sounds like I'm lecturing you Chris, you are way beyond where I was at your age. Just remember, there are none on earth with all the answers. Keep searching the scriptures because that is what Christ wants us to do. Keep growing in faith and witness to others the reason for the hope you have within you. God bless!!
Literal Word Thank you for your concern. I’m always willing to listen to someone older and wiser than myself. I generally agree with you, that just because someone says one thing right doesn’t mean everything they say is right, but I’ve been Reformed for 2 years. And I was a pre-miller the whole two years until recently. It wasn’t easy becoming Reformed. I didn’t want to believe in Predestination (I also had a misunderstanding of the doctrine). My church, and all of my friends aren’t Reformed. It was only because I was convinced through the Scriptures that I came to believe the “doctrines of grace.” And I didn’t except all five points at once, and I didn’t follow just one preacher. I watched debates, prayed, studied the Word, read articles and books. Of course I don’t know or understand everything. That’s clear, but I know enough to recognize what the Bible says, by the Spirit of God. Of course one doesn’t have to be a Calvinist to go to Heaven, but I do believe that Reformed theology is what you wind up with if you are committed to Sola Scripture. Nevertheless, thank you for your comment. God bless.
@@chriswhitejr1689 Yes, I assumed you had put a good bit of study and prayer in your conclusions about reformed theology so I'm sorry if my comments did not reflect that. My comments were more of a "one has nothing to do with the other" theme. There are many of the reformed persuasion that are in fact pre-trib/pre-mill/dispensationalists. In fact if you follow probably the most popular reformed pastor of our day, John MacArthur, you will see he and many others are. That was surprising to me because pre-tribbers seem to be more emotionally led whereas reformed people seem to be more academic. The two do not seem to fit so to speak. Durbin seems to be Post-mill and another popular reformed theologian, James White clams to lean Amillennial. Again, I don't mean to preach to you. You seem very far along in your walk for any age quite frankly, much less to be so young but what I wanted to point out to you is what I tend to see with the young and restless reformed. They are truth driven and with just a little bit of study and prayer can see through the lie of dispensationalism. Then they tend to be drawn to the more academic teachers out there who tend to be reformed in many cases. It seems to me a pattern that begins with having ones eyes opened through personal study and prayer to reject dispensationalism but then almost in juxtaposition, trading that new found spirit of a Berean for the reformed theology taught of man. My advice is to not get too locked in on one particular doctrine. Continue to study them all. There are many that become reformed and then progress to reject the doctrine such as Leighton Flowers and others. Just remember, even the brightest of the reformed teachers admit they cannot square God's sovereignty with man's responsibility. That's a major problem for that school of thought to say the least. Take care young man and God bless you!!
Literal Word I understand what you’re saying, and I respect it. I know that Reformed theology does not necessarily determine your eschatological views. I do read and listen to John MacArthur. I have a MacArthur study Bible and a Systematic Theology by him. I know he is a premillennialist. And like I’ve said the past 2 years that I have been Reformed, I was a Premillennialist. So for me I became Reformed long before I became a post millennialist. I do Follow Jeff Durbin and Dr. White rather closely, though neither men are perfect obviously, they’re like me and you , human. I know of the people who have accepted Reformed theology and then rejected it, like Leighton Flowers and Michael Brown. After seeing a debate between Flowers and Dr. White on Romans 9 and hearing him speak of Calvinism in other videos I’m not sure he (Leighton Flowers) understands or has ever understood Reformed theology. Dr, Brown is definitely more conservative than Flowers, but I haven’t watched much of him. Brother, believe me, if it can be shown by Scripture and sound reason that Reformed theology isn’t Scriptural, I will leave it. My allegiance is not to a denomination or set of ideas per se, it’s to Christ and the Scriptures. Which, from what I’ve seen, teach what we have labeled Reformed theology. Thank you for the clarification though, God bless you.
Love pastor Jeff, don't like replacement theology. Good for you. Keep going. The church needs to hear this. They try to keep us in fear of the tribulation, but that is wrong. We win, not lose. Did Christ come and sacrifice Himself? @@deliapuentez Hi Deia, I WOULD DEFINITELY encourage reading ALL of the scripture referenced and not referenced by Jeff on end times. I took up that challenge and feel that Jeff is wrong based on reading those biblical sections (Noah, Lot/Babalon and _ironicaly_ Mark 24 Jesus said he is coming as a *thief* and thieves never "leave" thieves take valuable things) Every one of them use "take" in reference to moving animals or people that God wanted to preserve/save rescuing out of judgement not take as in "sweep away" in judgment as Jeff maintained and needs to do away with "one taken and another left" meaning that Jesus will capture up. I am not following anyone on the rapture question, I don't know about pre-trib post-trib for sure, but Jeff is torquing on scripture here and ignoring scripture that doesn't support his case.... that always makes me suspicious because it is conclusion driven interpretation and selective reading. I would listen to John Macarthur on this and compare his case to Jeff's. I think his case is stronger and has more scriptural integrity to it.
Also, Durbin is exactly right about who the audience is in Matthew 24. It's the Jew, the believing remnant, the Little flock, the apostles. Yes. But what he doesn't not understand is that when Paul is saved, the dispensation of the Gospel changes, Israel and their prophecies are put on hold, postponed until the body of Christ is formed (which was a mystery kept from Satan 1 Cor 2.6-8 KJB only). Had it been in the OT, Christ would not have been crucified - as the verses say. And we are living in the dispensation of Grace which was not in prophecy nor talked about anywhere except it being given to Paul exclusively (hence Paul, the apostle to the gentiles). The dispensation of Grace has been in effect for 2k years and will continue on, until the rapture of the Body of Christ. Then, and ONLY then, will the book of Revelation commence. Have you heard of the dispensation of Grace where Paul asks you in Eph 3.2? For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles (not Jews, Gentiles), If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; He wrote about it afore in Romans 16.25-26 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: Paul calls it "his gospel" because it was committed unto him, not the 12 apostles (it's a mystery remember). Notice what Romans 16.25, which was kept secret since the world began. That is plain English. Compare that with Acts 3.21 and you will see what Peter and other 11 were preaching was made KNOWN since the world began. These two verses should Pause you and make you rethink what you know, because it's wrong. If what Peter preaches is made known since the world began, and what Paul preaches was kept secret since the world began, then you know for sure that these two things are DIFFERENT. 2 Tim 2.15 starts to make a lot of since now when Paul tells you to Rightly Divide the Word of Truth. That also implies that you can WRONGLY divide. That means you can be wrong. Test the scriptures. And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. Galatians 2.7 separates these TWO DIFFERENT GOSPELS for you. Rightly divide them and the bible will open up with truth you never had before. But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me (PAUL), as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:) You will not be able to convince me that the verse above does not have TWO different gospels in it. Take your blinders off please.
@@BiblicalFlatEarthJoshua He thinks the gospel of the Kingdom in Matt 24 is the same gospel Paul preached, but it's not. Gal 2.7 confirms this. I wrote a better response on his video if you want to read it.
Seems as if the plane never landed ??? did it ??? DID IT CRASH ??? Title seems off ... are we to think we have already seen the tribulation ??? WHAT DID I MISS ??? how and where does abomination of desolation fit ???
Did you not listen? Let's go thru it. Everytime u present a doctrine, look at the Holy Script and give the defense for that position, holding yourself to the same standard you hold others to. What is the "abomination of desolation" -your view, and refer the Holy Scriptures? i will answer back from the Holy Script to the best of my ability. See, Luke gives the explanation so a 'gentile' can understand; but once he does, soak it up and confirm GOD'S Holy Word, rather than bypassing it and attempting to try a different route of refutation.
Who is an "abomination" present, at that time? Matthew records YESHUA Saying "when you see..."; Who was he talking to? And told them to "flee to the mountains", which they did, and the Christians that fled to the mountains all survived. As it Is Written: "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation has come near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are inside the city depart, and let not those who are out in the country enter it, for these are days of vengeance, to fulfill all that is written". Luke 21
I think its important to remember this is a future event. Not sure its wise to draw hard lines in the sand. Gods ways are not or ways. Our job is to be ready and diligent.
Isaiah 13:9 Behold, the day of the Lord comes, cruel, with wrath and fierce anger, to make the land a desolation and to destroy its sinners from it. For the stars of the heavens and their constellation will not give their light; the sun will be dark at its rising and the moon will not shed its light. I will punish the world for its evil and the wicked for their iniquity." This was a judgment on Babylon that was carried out by God we have to let the Bible interpret the Bible. When ever it uses this type of language and this isn't the only example it is talking about a judgment that God is bringing against a nation not that the stars are literally going to be darkened the moon didn't literally not give its light. Its prophetic hyperbole thats used throughout the old testament.
What if there are no qualified, faithful, biblical elders in the area? What should someone do in that situation? BTW, it would be better if you put on a tie and button down with the blazer.
Matt. 13:37-43 does not fit the picture of “the end of the age” that Pastor Jeff describes as having been fulfilled in 70AD. Nor does it look like a wheat field that grows and dominates the weeds, choking them out before Jesus returns. No, it says that the wheat grows alongside the weeds and it will be separated by Angels at the end of the age. Pastor Jeff/Apologia, please explain how this fits in your eschatology.
Would it be possible to make a playlist specifically of these Matthew 24 sermons? I don't know if I could persuade my parents to listen to them, but they've been an immense blessing and it'd be helpful to have them all together and in order.
@ApologiaStudies @PastorJeff I have a question, R.C. Sproul (r.i.p) talked about this in many of his lessons and I am agree with almost everything you said here, as R.C. said also, although he said that one thing Did Not Happen and it was when All The World Was Going to See Jesus Coming in a Cloud and Everybody in the Entire World Was Going to See Him. R.C. was clear that didn’t happen and for that reason, many didn’t believe He Was a Real Prophet. I obviously truly believe in Jesus and all that is written in The Bible, but how do you respond or justify that All The Entire World Didn’t See Him Coming on the Clouds? Mark:13:26. Also, one man and one woman will be taken and other will stay in Matthew 24:39-43. So, this is difficult to understand when so many are saying that God will come back and He will take the Saints and the Devil will be Cast away for one thousand years and then Satan will be back after those thousand years and we will have the world destroyed and we will be with Him in his kingdom? This is more complicated when we see the Christian persecutions in China, and many countries around the world. I would like to hear more about Revelations and understanding what will happen in the present days and about the anti-Christ etc. And what about the mark of the beast that nobody will be able to buy or sell anything, if they don’t have the mark 666? And what about the 200 million army? This is now more confusing. Thanks for all and God Bless You and I hope to hear more about this. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Revelation 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
Dear brother Jesus says heaven and earth will pass away KJV Matthew 24:35 Nothing is impossible for God dear brother we are not to question GOD Kathleen 🙏
Jesus said, "For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now--and never to be equaled again." Matthew 24:21 Jeff it is insulting to say that the suffering in 70AD was equal to the suffering of one of the World Wars in the 20th Century. If we take Jesus at his word we can see that the Great Tribulation has NOT happened yet.
Is Jesus talking about a global tribulation or a tribulation that will take place in Israel? Matthew 24:15 "So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains." Sounds like you can escape the tribulation by fleeing Judea to the mountains. Which is what Christians did when the Romans surrounded the city of Jerusalem in 70 AD. And no there has never been a tribulation or suffering in Israel before or since the fall of Jerusalem.
He does address this in other sermons/ podcasts. Jesus’s judgement came “riding on the clouds”. Just as God’s judgement came “riding on the clouds” in the OT. If the same language is use in the NT, or if texts are quoted in the NT from the OT, we know it serves to symbolize the same idea as it served in the OT, whatever context it was used in, then.
If I understand your question correctly, he’s speaking from the Gospel book of Mathew. My Bible’s commentary says that the author has been debated, but likely points to the apostle Mathew, also known as Levi.
I love the sermon… in the future maybe you could practice with the audio so that Pastor Jeff does not have to kind of yell the entire time. To be more comfortable. Pastor MacArthur used to do this to, the tense raised voice. Over time he slowed down the speech and lowered his tone. Much easier to follow along and easier to listen for longer without having to take a break due to added stress.
It makes sense because its scripure.. If people actually read the scriptures and took versus into context.. Sheesh.. People acting like this is some new found revelation
abcfitness the Christian church has done a very good job at pushing the dispensational pretrib theology and eschatology which has lead many to hold the same views , this very well could be an eye opener for a lot of folks as these teachings have been for me as well.
Great information! At about 28:40 he makes the statement that Jesus left the temple and went to the Mt. of Olives - the same direction as when God left the temple in the O.T. (and cites this is not a coincidence) I've been trying to do some research on this and the best I can figure he is referencing Ezek. 10: 18 (???) but can someone give me a verse and explain what he meant? Thanks in advance.
Ezekiel 11:22-23. If you read all of Ezekiel 11, you'll see that God pronounces judgement, and then in 11:22-23 his glory leaves the temple. The same pattern takes place in Matt. 23-24. Jesus, God incarnate, pronounces judgement and then he departs the temple and goes to the Mt. of Olives(to the east).
If you want to know why there are preterist, present and post millennial aspects of prophecy within the same prophecy research Midras Interpretation. It is the Jewish way of interpreting prophecy and it ties together the confusion WITHOUT going to an extreme like preterism, amillenial and spiritualizing every prophecy.
I notice how people quickly react defensively when their eschatological perspectives are challenged by clear truths from the Bible and point to a well-respected minister calling for a debate. If we truly are followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, we already have what we need to know the truth - His promised Holy Spirit! May we let go of our blinders and prayerfully read and study God's Word ourselves letting His Spirit guide us as we learn to interpret Scripture using Scripture itself. May Scripture shape our belief system and not the other way around, which is what's happening now in the evangelical world, making many Christians easily manipulated by the world. 😢🙏
I still dont understand matthew 24:30 - 31 then. If thats not the final return of Jesus, With all the tribes of the earth seeing him come down from the clouds. It sounds like his final return. The way its mentioned by the angels. Its confusing because its thrown in there saying immediately after the tribulation. Im confused
Young's literal translation interprets it tribes of the land " it's Earth as in land not Earth as a whole or planet. The tribes of the land shall mourn. The 12 tribes for rejection of their Messiah. Chariots of fire were seen in the sky angels of armor were reported by Josephus Tacitus and others , as well as heavenly and earthly phenomenon . Revelation 1:7 tells us whom God’s judgment was against. It reads: “Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him, and all tribes of the land will wail on account of Him.” This clearly identifies Jesus’ crucifiers as the target. “All the tribes of the earth” is a reference to the twelve tribes of Israel, which means Old Covenant Israel. Interestingly, Josephus and other ancient historians reported seeing chariots in the sky above Jerusalem during the Jewish-Roman War of AD 66-70. This fulfilled the visibility requirement. “Coming on clouds” is Hebraic idiomatic apocalyptic language from the Old Testament, where God “came” in judgment against his enemies (example, Isaiah 19). Thus, this poetic judgment language affirms that the Lord would come in a non-literal sense against apostate Israel, as predicted in numerous New Testament passages, such as Matthew 16:27-28; 21:33-45; 22:1-14; 23:29-39; Luke 21:5-33; etc. Like judgments against Israel in Old Testament times (722 BC and 586 BC), God used an opposing army as his instrument.
I'm not so sure what your point is. You never really answered the question. Did the great tribulation happen? The answer is yes and no. The OT is full of what they call duel prophecy, a short term AND a long term fulfillment. Jesus is doing the same thing in Matthew 24. It's always about Israel, then and in the future. The tribulation is all about Israel; it's always been about Christ and Israel, but it just so happens that we also are involved. I don't know why you used all that prophecy stuff in Matthew 24 to show us God is faithful and we waver on God's promises. It almost feels like your trying to prime us for something you plan on preaching in the future.
Have to agree Mat 24, from what I read in scripture.... Very hard if not impossible to say Mat 24 all occurred before 70AD. One issue it seems that was glossed over, many end time prophecies in the O.T. had a fulfillment in that past and will have another in "The Last Week" as spoken by Daniel. Quickest, easiest example would be Antiochus (180 BC or so) and the anti-christ going into The Temple when eh causes the abomination of desolation (still future and not before 70A.D.) Just pointing out even if we see similarities between the time Christ died for us (THANK-YOU LORD!) and the destruction of the temple in 70A.D. we can't concluded, "Ah see all was fulfilled in the 1st century"... On the contrary, might assert it only establishes God's foreknowledge of the events, to assure us the thing prophecies will occur... @Ricard Manning I'm right with you that Revelations is all about Israel and only the future (after 70A.D.), i struggle to understand any view other then pre-wrath, pre-trib, pre-pre-Whatever... 2 Thes, and other passages, might assert you'd agree from your comments. Just wondering if most of the comments that are Peterist in nature aren't from well intending gentiles to say "The Church" has replaced Israel, and they most explain about the book of Revelations...? Cheers, God Bless
Yes most of Matthew 24 up until verse 33 already happened to the fallen Jewish nation. The reason it's called "The Great Tribulation" is because it concerned the (former) Covenant people of God, Israel. They were supposed to be The Lord's faithful wife but turned into a Harlot (mistress) partnering with Rome in betraying & finally murdering all the Prophets, including Jesus their only Messiah. Read Matthew 23 for all that. But the Lord was planning on making Abraham a Father of Many Nations, so the Lords Faithful Wife = the Church including both believing converted Jews & Gentiles. Jeff is covering here the convulsions that occurred I the "Inter-Covenantal" period of 33AD to 67AD when God was patiently waiting for all Israelites to Convert & Church to develop. It's more natural to grasp this by hearing other messages covering how a good bit of Revelation concerned the 1st century Church. Heres a great message "Beast of Revelation Identified" that is well worth your time: ruclips.net/video/Sy7cEW4MJac/видео.html Blessings in Jesus - David
@@hellosunshine1090 Sorry seems like your video is a peterist view. Sorry my understanding of scripture would reject it and John Revelations after 70AD. The historical record is easy enough to simply disprove a peterist view... John was exiled to Patmos about 94 A.D. well past the destruction of the temple in 70 A.D. End of peterism...
Amen. But what about Jesus coming in the clouds? Because He talks about Him coming in the clouds and then a few verses down He says all these things shall pass in this generation? Plz help this is a passage I have been struggling with it dont make sense for Him to have already come in the clouds
ok, you have made a good argument for what was written in prophecy a long time ago has already happened, as a fellow believer i would ask here in july of 2020 whats next?
One of the major issues I have is the is the binding of Satan. I find that to be the problem passage that isn’t dealt with well in light of Revelation 12. Of course, I’m currently amill and find strengths in historic premill and post mill also.
SpecialK 77 well there is a huge distinction between the two; that being a post millennial view is optimistic and believes the kingdom will continue to advance and gain more influence whereas amillenialism believes that the church will always be suffering, thus a more negative view. I’d love to see a discussion between two experts on those views(other than the video that Piper has)
I get what you are saying. I guess what I would say is predicting these things was like reading history and understanding the norms of what happens. Jesus never has gotten rid of the evil and created a good place for us to live. I wait for God to come and straighten things out. Not happened yet.
Really so you are the same person as you were before you were saved? No change? Nothing different? Same crap different day? If that is true then YOU were never SAVED you don't know Jesus and are destined for hell. When we get Born Again Jesus lives inside us, we are a new creation. The Kingdom of heaven is within you. We are to go into this world and take the kingdoms of this world in His name. You shall know them by their fruit. The fruit of the endtimesers is to sit back and put their light under a bushel. To preach the endtimes is to spread uselessness, no reason to invest, no reason to look to the future and plan ahead. No reason to do good works, what's the point if Jesus is going to come back and destroy it all anyway. That is error.
@@2drsdan "what's the point if Jesus is going to come back and destroy it all anyway." As I said. " I wait for God to come and straighten things out. Not happened yet." God will do it. God will Judge me. No one else has any right to think they are the Judge. If you do not believe in God I just feel sorry for you. If you do not believe Jesus is God that is a problem. You should not see a difference God or Jesus.
Steve Angell How are you waiting for God to come and “straighten things out”?? What does that look like?? “Jesus never got rid of evil and created a good place for us to live”?? So him dying on the cross and conquering the enemy, having ALL AUTHORITY in heaven and ON EARTH given to him and sitting at the right hand of God, while putting ALL his enemies under his feet and having the gospel spreading all around the world.. Is not him “straightening things out and giving us hope and a good place to live”?? If he’s for us than who can be against us?? Wow, you have no idea how almighty and sovereign he really is over EVERYTHING!!
@@steveangell1072 WHAT? since WHEN did I ever infer Jesus was not GOD? It's you who believe His work on the cross was incomplete. That when He said "It's Finished" He lied to us and we wait for Him to come back and finish what He started. Straightening things out is OUR JOB. We are to take the kingdoms of this world in His name by the power of Himself that lives in us guided by God the Holy Spirit. Get off the couch and get busy.

I just know God chose Trump and has helped Trump every step of the way. Here is the video. Just copy and paste it in to youtube. v=-3aAnD3Oij8
You guys that are reading seem to not understand. When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)....For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. Just read it and let it say what it says. So no, it has not happened. And no 70 AD does not fit this. May be time to rethink Calvinism and Preterism.
Luke 21:20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation has come near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are inside the city depart, and let not those who are out in the country enter it, 22 for these are days of vengeance, to fulfill all that is written." So was Jerusalem surrounded in 70 AD?
@@adamwoodie4029 If you believe the verse. Calvinism starts to fall apart at every seam when you first remove the false doctrine that Daniel's 70th week has already passed. When you remove the 70AD presupposition, all of Calvinism's theology falls to the waste side because it's built upon that very thing. It's why you see so many go through great lengths to sell you the bill of goods that 70 AD was somehow something special. Write books etc. Because without it, Calvinism falls apart. But if you believe the verse, For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be., Then you will have no problem throwing away 70AD and can then move on to the correct answers. Hence studying. I actually think I have a video uploaded on my channel about 70 AD.
@@Romans2Philemon But my friend... calvinism doesn't have anything to do with eschatology. You can believe everything that you just said and still be a calvinist. Calvinisim just deals with the doctrines of grace (aka TULIP.) It is basically the belief that God is sovereign over the process of salvation.
@@adamwoodie4029 When you say all the prophecies have passed, or most of them, including Daniels 70th week, you can then ascribe the body of Christ as 'spiritual Israel', rather then rightly dividing these two, which then allows you to place all of THEIR doctrine onto the body of Christ. Which Paul warns over and over again not to do. Hence you ignore 2 Tim 2.15 which tells you to rightly divide the word of truth.
Our focus really should be on doing our duty for King Jesus, he declared to the Disciples, onwards to us, "All Authority in Heaven & on Earth is given unto Me. Go therefore into all nations baptizing them in the Father Son and Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all things whatsoever I have commanded you, and behold I am with you even unto the end of the age." - Matthew 28:18-20 So that's our Marching orders and now we're 2019 years into the Kingdom Building phase. So let's let God worry about timing and KNOW that He has "All Authority in Heaven & on Earth..." Blessings in Christ - David in Texas
Jesus is ruling right now in heaven AND on earth and growing his kingdom right now while defeating his enemies. The only thing left is for Jesus to finish setting his kingdom up here on earth and then he will return in his second coming at the end , final judgment, great white throne ....
@@jrexplores5488 I'd overall agree except David's throne is in Heaven not on Earth and if you read Psalm 110:1 and the 10 ir 12 x quoted in NT for context, like especially 1 Corinthians 15, it sure sounds like Jesus is there for the duration "...until His enemies are made a footstool for His feet," And don't overlook the fact that though some say theres going to be a 3rd Rebuilt Temple- theres no clear verses or passages that say it, the Dispensationalist just assume it. So that's what I find compelling. There are Kingdom 'mysteries' the LORD doesn't explain fully, but we do know enough to believe & obey: "The secret things belong to the Lord Our God, but that which has been revealed belong to us & our children forever that we may do all the Words of this Law..." Deuteronomy 29:29 Blessings to you - David in Texas
that piece from uceebeus was the one thing i was missing. ive only read Josephus so i thought todays false teachers would be its fulfillment. but now knowing these records of famines and false christs that fills in the gaps in my understanding. great message
There are literal false christ's even right now with actual followings. There is one in Siberia and one in Brazil that comes to mind, look up the documentary, you'd be perplexed if you are interested in that stuff.
Most folks who are very dogmatic do NOT operate in the gifts of the spirit and usually bash speaking in tongues and have millions of reasons why they dont
Does Jeff believe the great tribulation has already occurred or we are in the middle of it? My believe it has yet to come. Just asking for clarity. Thank you
the gospels were OT books. the disciples traveled with the testator (Jesus) throughout the books of Matthew Mark Luke John. their gospel of the kingdom has been suspended for 2000 years. since their rejection of Messiah by stoning Stephen. their stumble has brought salvation to the gentiles. (Rom 11:11) this was done by revelation of the mystery gospel of grace to Paul a year after the cross. we are the body of Christ and will be raptured before the tribulation and will be seated in heavenly places. (Eph 1:3) during the tribulation the kingdom gospel will reestablish for the redemption of israel. they will inherit their earthly kingdom. (1 Cor 6:9)
Olivet Timing Revealed by Luke’s Gospel: Compare Luke's Gospel to that of Matthew if you want to understand the timing. Jesus Foretells Destruction of the Temple (These subtitles are found in e-Sword.) Luk 21:5 Then, as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and donations, He said, Luk 21:6 "These things which you see-the days will come in which not one stone shall be left upon another that shall not be thrown down." (Mat 24:2 And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down." ) Luk 21:7 So they asked Him, saying, "Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign will there be when these things are about to take place?" (Mat 24:3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?") ( Mar 13:3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked Him privately, Mar 13:4 "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?") Luk 21:8 And He said: "Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He,' and, 'The time has drawn near.' Therefore do not go after them. (Mat 24:5 For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. ) Luk 21:9 But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately." (Mat 24:6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.) Jesus Foretells Wars and Persecution Luk 21:10 Then He said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. (Mat 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. ) Luk 21:11 And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. (Mat 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. ) Luk 21:12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake. (Mat 24:9 "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake.) (Read Acts 22:19-20, where Paul reveals that he fulfilled this text.) Luk 21:13 But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony. Luk 21:14 Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer; Luk 21:15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist. Luk 21:16 You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. Luk 21:17 And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. (Mat 24:10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. ) Luk 21:18 But not a hair of your head shall be lost. Luk 21:19 By your patience possess your souls. (Mat 24:13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.) Jesus Foretells Destruction of Jerusalem Luk 21:20 "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. (Mat 24:15 "Therefore when you see the 'ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand), Luk 21:21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her. (Mat 24:16 "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.) Luk 21:22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. Luk 21:23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people. (Mat 24:19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! ) Luk 21:24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. (Almost all Bible scholars agree that the first part of the verse above is about 70 AD. At the end of the verse we find a period of time known as “the times of the Gentiles”. In the verses that follow we find the future Second Coming of Christ.) The Coming of the Son of Man Luk 21:25 "And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; (Mat 24:29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.) Luk 21:26 men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Luk 21:27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. (Mat 24:30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.) Luk 21:28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near." (Mat 24:33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near-at the doors!)
When a pastor gives a sermon it's not uncommon for him to recontexualize his words for his audience. For instance, a pastor can take a basic sermon and word it for early service that has mostly 60 to 70 year olds, then adjust the sermon for the later service with 20 to 30 year olds so that everyone can better relate to what is being said in context of life. With that understanding it is important to note that Luke 21 is not the Olivet discourse. Jesus was speaking in the temple not on the mount of olives, and he was talking to the Jews in general, not the disciples privately. In the middle of his prophetic speaking He then interrupts Himself and says in verse 12: BUT BEFORE ALL THESE THINGS.... He then goes on to describe the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD which was important for the Jews in general to understand. He never goes into this description in Matthew 24 when hes talking privately to the followers of Him, He speaks total end times prophecy. To understand the Jewish mindset of a prophecy, they know it as repetitive patterns and themes, not predictions alone. The destruction of the temple in 70AD also foreshadows the same type of things that that will happen at the end of the age. Another example of this would be Judas. Judas is a Typeology of the Anti-Christ. None of the 12 knew that he was the betrayer. He also fooled many (even the followers of Jesus) with his social image of good works and association. He is also the only person in scripture that was possessed by satan himself, the other person is the upcoming Anti-Christ written in revelation. I couldn't disagree more with pastor Jeffs sermon on this. I believe that a sermon like this discourages people from understanding true eschatology which is exactly what satan wants. The more people that understand it the more people will be prepared for what is to come. At the end of the book of Luke Jesus had to scold His disciples for not listening to the prophets and understanding all of prophecy about Him. He called them fools. There is 7 times more information about Jesus's 2nd coming than his 1st, and too many leaders are discouraging people from studying it properly.
Very well done. Thanks for taking the time to link it with the Old Testament as well. Wondering what your thoughts would be on the book “The Parousia”?
Matthew 24:21 Well if he is right then that means that the worst evils in the whole world have already happened!! So I guess it can only get better because that type of evil Jesus states would never happen again. I really like this guy but he is misrepresenting end time events. He keeps stating that the people during Jesus first coming were aware...but were they?? It states that when the Magi saw His star and told that to Herod. It says Herod and ALL of Jerusalem were shocked!! Why is that? Well Jesús makes mentioned that the scholars in Jesus day couldn’t even interpret the days and times in that generation. There is a lot wrong with the logic of post millennium view point. However I full respect for this pastor! Great man of God!!
You’re missing the point of the verse 21. Jesus is not referring to the worst possible event to ever occur. The reason why it could never happen again nor ever will because there never will be a temple in Jerusalem like the one that once stood there and the religious system that ruled over the people. That’s what Jesus meant.
@@J.F.331 No I’m afraid that isn’t correct. Although according to Zechariah 14:16-17 down below, all the nations will go to Jerusalem to celebrate the feast of Tabernacles! You should check that out!! “16 Then the survivors from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord Almighty, and to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles. 17 If any of the peoples of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord Almighty, they will have no rain.”
Post Mil checkmate: turning to Psalm 110, the 2nd sentence of v2 is "Rule in the midst of your enemies!" Besides v1 and all its quotations in the NT, v2 literally and plainly says His rule is in the midst of enemies. Pre-mil has Jesus reigning AFTER destroying enemies. This is false as we see it is in direct contradiction to the text.

If anyone just reads Matthew 24 you would not believe this guy on this topic. The stars have not fallen, that tribulation was not the worst (holocaust/WWII was worse). The world has not seen the son of man on the clouds as lightning from one end of the sky to the other. Preterist fallacy.
Isaiah 13:9-11 "Behold the day of the Lord comes, cruel with wrath and fierce anger, to make the land a desolation and to destroy sinners from it. For the stars of the heavens and their constellations will not give their light, the sun will be dark at its rising and the moon will not shed its light." This was a judgment against Babylon did the stars actually go dark did the sun actually not give its light and the moon not shine? If the stars actually fell everyone would be dead. If the sun our star moved closer to the earth we would all be dead. Babylon was judged just like God said it would be and Israel was judged in 70 AD just like Jesus said it would be in Matthew 24. There has never been a tribulation in Israel like the one in 70 AD. The holocaust/WWII didn't take place in Israel. You need to stop holding on so tight to bad traditions and bad eschatology.
@@Chico60Colt also Christ was literally quoting Isaiah's Babylonian prophecy over Jerusalem...John then calls Israel Babylon in Revelation. It is so clear if you read and don't force preconceived paradigm onto the text.
I think the references to sun going dark, moon turns to blood and stars “fall” is judgement language. Think of what you would see if your city is burning on fire. Looking up through all the billowing smoke, the sun will be darkened, the moon not give its light or turn to blood by the light reflection, and the stars will not be seen at all. Therefore the stars did fall from the sky in a sense because there gone to the observer. Also, the phrase “stars falling from the sky” does not mean that stars would fall and actually hit the earth.
Brother could you please study and examine the essenes and make a video on the essenes and the Dead Sea scrolls so u have a better understanding about them.
*Could it possibly be though* that what was written in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John was prophecy for the Jews then and what is written in Revelation is prophecy for us today? Because honestly, I agreed with his point all the way until he started saying that Revelation also applied to Jews then...🤔
The Apostle John, who wrote Revelation, was a Jew himself and he uses a lot of Jewish language in Revelation. Over half of all the verses in Revelation are either direct quotations or illusions to the Old Testament. Just something to think about.
m c and in accordance with the New Testament, specifically Galatians, true Israel are those who are in Christ. God was never done with Israel, however many who claimed to be Israel were not and are not Israel. NT makes it clear that being Israel isn’t a matter of genealogy and blood, but being in Christ. The jews today reject Christ and hate Him.
This opened my eyes and gave my spirit gladness. Gladness in the sense of food for my soul.

Could you debate John Macarthur on this? That eould be epic!
It is Highly unlikely that Brother MacArthur will debate this. He woild get Bahnsened in Eschatology.

Hey friend! Did you manage to find a good church?
@@mchristr Very good point. And what does it mean that it will be rebuilt again? Interesting thoughts.

Blessings.
how would u explain all the prophetic books of the Bible coming together perfectly in our time?
“This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666.”
We know that Nero demanded worship and not only that, but in Greek numerology..
Titus did sit in the temple he did defile it under the authority of Rome specifically Nero.

mathew 24 truth bombs !!!

If we are to come back with Christ and conquer... wouldn't there have to be a time when we leave the earth? Yes! The Rapture.
YES. Exactly.
Amazing sermon!

This is why we have so much confusion, like some think we have the wrong location and it is a place in Africa.
For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles (not Jews, Gentiles), If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
He wrote about it afore in Romans 16.25-26
Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
Paul calls it "his gospel" because it was committed unto him, not the 12 apostles (it's a mystery remember).
But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me (PAUL), as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)
You will not be able to convince me that the verse above does not have TWO different gospels in it. Take your blinders off please.
Ah, dispensationalism... not even once.

@ApologiaStudies @PastorJeff
I have a question, R.C.

Jesus said, "For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now--and never to be equaled again." Matthew 24:21
Jeff it is insulting to say that the suffering in 70AD was equal to the suffering of one of the World Wars in the 20th Century.
The mistake you made was by reading your bible and thinking logically about things .
He stopped before Matthew 29:30 which is the return of Jesus, by this translation it doesn’t make sense.
True. Matt. 24:29-30 is the Lord's return *immediately* after the tribulation of those days.
Wow! Thanks!!!
Trying to find the book mentioned, the great tribulation. Want to make sure I'm getting the right one. Who's the author?
I would like to know as well
If I understand your question correctly, he’s speaking from the Gospel book of Mathew. My Bible’s commentary says that the author has been debated, but likely points to the apostle Mathew, also known as Levi.
How do people miss this?🧐
I love the sermon… in the future maybe you could practice with the audio so that Pastor Jeff does not have to kind of yell the entire time.

I love you and Dr. White AND you don't have to say Lord every few seconds. He and we know who you're talking to, Brother.
Ezekiel 16 really makes me think that post mil might be right
I notice how people quickly react defensively when their eschatological perspectives are challenged by clear truths from the Bible and point to a well-respected minister calling for a debate.
Im confused
of course your confused..mathew 24:31 is a huge stumbling block for partial preterist/post millennialist.
What about Zechariah 14?
Quickest, easiest example would be Antiochus (180 BC or so) and the anti-christ going into The Temple when eh causes the abomination of desolation (still future and not before 70A.D.)
Just pointing out even if we see similarities between the time Christ died for us (THANK-YOU LORD!) and the destruction of the temple in 70A.D. we can't concluded, "Ah see all was fulfilled in the 1st century"...
Cheers,
God Bless

Why should anything that you said cause one to re-think calvinism?
@@adamwoodie4029 If you believe the verse. Calvinism starts to fall apart at every seam when you first remove the false doctrine that Daniel's 70th week has already passed. When you remove the 70AD presupposition, all of Calvinism's theology falls to the waste side because it's built upon that very thing.
It's why you see so many go through great lengths to sell you the bill of goods that 70 AD was somehow something special. Write books etc. Because without it, Calvinism falls apart.
But if you believe the verse,
For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be., Then you will have no problem throwing away 70AD and can then move on to the correct answers.
So according to this teaching where are we at on the timeline right now?
Getting closer to the millennium
Our focus really should be on doing our duty for King Jesus, he declared to the Disciples, onwards to us,
"All Authority in Heaven & on Earth is given unto Me. Go therefore into all nations baptizing them in the Father Son and Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all things whatsoever I have commanded you, and behold I am with you even unto the end of the age."
- Matthew 28:18-20
So that's our Marching orders and now we're 2019 years into the Kingdom Building phase.
So let's let God worry about timing and KNOW that He has "All Authority in Heaven & on Earth..."
Blessings in Christ - David in Texas
Jesus is ruling right now in heaven AND on earth and growing his kingdom right now while defeating his enemies. The only thing left is for Jesus to finish setting his kingdom up here on earth and then he will return in his second coming at the end , final judgment, great white throne ....
@@jrexplores5488 I'd overall agree except David's throne is in Heaven not on Earth and if you read Psalm 110:1 and the 10 ir 12 x quoted in NT for context, like especially 1 Corinthians 15, it sure sounds like Jesus is there for the duration "...until His enemies are made a footstool for His feet,"
And don't overlook the fact that though some say theres going to be a 3rd Rebuilt Temple- theres no clear verses or passages that say it, the Dispensationalist just assume it.
So that's what I find compelling. There are Kingdom 'mysteries' the LORD doesn't explain fully, but we do know enough to believe & obey:
"The secret things belong to the Lord Our God, but that which has been revealed belong to us & our children forever that we may do all the Words of this Law..."
Deuteronomy 29:29
Blessings to you - David in Texas
Mother Goose I agree completely that he is ruling from David’s throne right now.
"The Bible is not about you." Who else heard a Matt Chandler echo in their head?
How can I repent of my sins and turn to Christ pastor Jeff, if I'm totally depraved and unable to do it unless God changes me?
You must be born again..........being born of the spirit enables you to repent and believe!
@@randygrayson9015 and again, how do I do that unless God changes my heart?
@Ms. Anthrope I believe that yes.
that piece from uceebeus was the one thing i was missing. ive only read Josephus so i thought todays false teachers would be its fulfillment. but now knowing these records of famines and false christs that fills in the gaps in my understanding. great message
(Rom 11:11)
this was done by revelation of the mystery gospel of grace to Paul a year after the cross. we are the body of Christ and will be raptured before the tribulation and will be seated in heavenly places. (Eph 1:3)
during the tribulation the kingdom gospel will reestablish for the redemption of israel. they will inherit their earthly kingdom. (1 Cor 6:9)
Jim Oaks, well said!
Olivet Timing Revealed by Luke’s Gospel:
Compare Luke's Gospel to that of Matthew if you want to understand the timing.
Jesus Foretells Destruction of the Temple (These subtitles are found in e-Sword.)
Luk 21:5 Then, as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and donations, He said,
Luk 21:6 "These things which you see-the days will come in which not one stone shall be left upon another that shall not be thrown down."
(Mat 24:2 And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down." )
Luk 21:7 So they asked Him, saying, "Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign will there be when these things are about to take place?"
(Mat 24:3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?")
( Mar 13:3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked Him privately,
Mar 13:4 "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?")
Luk 21:8 And He said: "Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He,' and, 'The time has drawn near.' Therefore do not go after them.
(Mat 24:5 For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. )
Luk 21:9 But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately."
(Mat 24:6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.)
Jesus Foretells Wars and Persecution
Luk 21:10 Then He said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
(Mat 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. )
Luk 21:11 And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.
(Mat 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. )
Luk 21:12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake.
(Mat 24:9 "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake.) (Read Acts 22:19-20, where Paul reveals that he fulfilled this text.)
Luk 21:13 But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony.
Luk 21:14 Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer;
Luk 21:15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist.
Luk 21:16 You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death.
Luk 21:17 And you will be hated by all for My name's sake.
(Mat 24:10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. )
Luk 21:18 But not a hair of your head shall be lost.
Luk 21:19 By your patience possess your souls.
(Mat 24:13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.)
Jesus Foretells Destruction of Jerusalem
Luk 21:20 "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near.
(Mat 24:15 "Therefore when you see the 'ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever reads, let him understand),
Luk 21:21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her.
(Mat 24:16 "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.)
Luk 21:22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
Luk 21:23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people.
(Mat 24:19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! )
Luk 21:24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
(Almost all Bible scholars agree that the first part of the verse above is about 70 AD. At the end of the verse we find a period of time known as “the times of the Gentiles”. In the verses that follow we find the future Second Coming of Christ.)
The Coming of the Son of Man
Luk 21:25 "And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring;
(Mat 24:29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.)
Luk 21:26 men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
Luk 21:27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
(Mat 24:30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.)
Luk 21:28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."
(Mat 24:33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near-at the doors!)
Excellent book. Tough read linguistically. Also Brian Martin's "Behind the Veil of Moses"
Post Mil checkmate:
turning to Psalm 110, the 2nd sentence of v2 is "Rule in the midst of your enemies!"
Besides v1 and all its quotations in the NT, v2 literally and plainly says His rule is in the midst of enemies. Pre-mil has Jesus reigning AFTER destroying enemies. This is false as we see it is in direct contradiction to the text.
Good Job as always
The end is yet to come
Ted Graham - well yes, pastor didn’t say otherwise
The end of what?
Oh .my sir ....that was an amazing message that I just stand amazed at ....thank you plears pray for my wayward son that he gets back to how was raised in believing on JESUS not living hue so called gay lifestyle . Please help us pray our baby boy (24 years old)) back to GOD , into being saved ..

Wish somehow Jeff can minister to my Amish friends an family
@Edward Russell can you show me where I am reaching?
@@twood6992 hmmm. That's interesting.
Jeff,
So, is it your contention that all of Matthew 24 is speaking about 30-70 AD?
And what about Revelation?
These things were to happen soon.
Yes, i read the old test: and it says God is not done with Israel.
m c and in accordance with the New Testament, specifically Galatians, true Israel are those who are in Christ. God was never done with Israel, however many who claimed to be Israel were not and are not Israel. NT makes it clear that being Israel isn’t a matter of genealogy and blood, but being in Christ. The jews today reject Christ and hate Him.
You are exactly right, God is not done with Israel, Israel being those who are in the New Covenant, His Ekklesia.
🤯wow
