  • Watch the new and final message from the Olivet Discourse on the subject of the Great Tribulation from Pastor Jeff Durbin of Apologia Church. The modern church (in the West) has been heavily impacted by a view of the future that didn't exist before the 19th-century: Dispensational Premillennialism. Within this view is the idea of a rapture, followed by 7-years of tribulation (some are pre-trib, mid-trib, or post-trib), followed by a literal 1,000-year reign of Christ on earth. Many appeal to the Olivet Discourse to support their views on this. However, we need to ask the questions: What does Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21 actually teach? Who would endure the "Great Tribulation", what generation would see "these things", and who was to be "left behind"? We hope this series and this message in particular is a blessing upon you.

The nation of Israel has ALWAYS been referred to as a fig tree in the Old Testament. Jesus, cursing the fig tree is in direct reference to his parable on the gardener, asking the landowner for one more season. Jesus saying no fruit is saying, the nation of Israel will bear no fruit, meaning they will not believe in Jesus. This is why Jesus is on the mountain, saying how long I’ve wanted to gather you under my wing but because you’re not willing, you will not see me again until you call out blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Your teaching only says that Jesus is not referring to the rebirth of Israel in that passage, then what is he referring to?

I recently joined a house Church and I'm so grateful to the Lord for connecting me with these wonderful local saints right in my neighborhood. We have appointed elders and deacons, and we are beginning to build our own outreach ministry in which we carry the good news in an organized, methodical collaborative effort to seeking the Lord's Kingdom, and to search for His lost coins and wayward sheep, which we do in many ways, including Street evangelism, buying supplies for troubled teen outreach programs in our city, and music/preach the gospel ministry we take to nursing homes in our city. We are very small congregation of only about 30 people, but growing slowly. Praise God for bringing His people together to worship Him 🤩🥳

Yeah, the problem is that an informed premillennialist would know that. In the consistent premillennialism view, one would say that Jesus was talking about his return after the tribulation, not the rapture. You don't have to believe it, but it would be good to disavow the most convincing premillennial argument, not whatever Jeff is presenting, if that's what you're going for.

Off the topic a bit, I encourage you never trust anyone - a pastor, a friend, or even your own judgment - as to whether you are saved. If you are saved, GOD will let you know. You will be filled with the Holy Spirit and you will be firends with God. Instead of resting in denominational doctrines, I encourage you to check out Romans 8.16. If you trust in the promises of God, and humbly ask, you will receive. Only, never doubt; a double-minded man will never receive anything from God.

Daniel was told to seal up the prophecy because it was "far" or "long." The prophecy was concerning the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple. In the Revelation John is told to NOT seal up the words because the time was "near" or "soon." Daniel was written around 400-500BC, which makes "far" to mean roughly 470-570 years. So the "near" or "soon" CANNOT be more years than what "far" as already been defined by the angel! Jesus said he was coming "SOON!" Not 2000 years later!! Words have meaning. And scripture defines their meaning!

Completely new covenant. A different world in fact I most ways. The hope of all mankind. The end to the covenant breakers. The end to the exclusive pact for them. The beginning of salvation for any tribe, skin, group or family under God's grace. The end to the blood sacrifice. The ushering in of the Holy Spirit of God over the creation to guide it. The opening of the flood gates to gentiles everywhere to spread His word of the WHOLE EARTH to His people. The Great Tribulation. "All these things", did not happen in the generation of Jesus' day. The generation referred to in Matthew 24 is the last generation who sees Israel become an independent sovereign nation again. According to psalm 90 a generation is 70 to 80 years For one thing, the generation of Jesus ' day all died before Jesus' return. Also, when did the abomination that causes desolation come into the temple and set himself up as God? And when did 1/3 and later 1/2 of the earth's creatures die? When did the two witness come? The whole earth is supposed see them preach, die and be brought back to life. We, as Christians, are not appointed to wrath according to God. The righteous are always spared from it, whether they are the ones left behind or they are the ones removed. The wicked are always the ones under wrath

Matt. 7:13-14 Jesus clearly teaches that there will be many which go in the wide gate, but few will enter the narrow gate. If the doctrine of limited atonement is true, then the doctrine of post millennialism must be false. These people have to disregard the teachings of Jesus, Paul and the entire New Testament in regard to eschatology. Throw out 1Thess 4:16-17, and Rev. 20. If you follow these men (J Durbin and J White), you can just disregard the whole book of Revelation. James White stated that it does not belong in the text of Scripture. How can you follow such an absurd doctrine that contradicts everything the Bible teaches about the end times? I would love to debate these men on this topic. Post millennialism is a false doctrine. Abolitionism, Social Gospel or Post Millenialism. Call it what you will, but it is a false doctrine that will fade away with the rest.

Study Romans chapters 9,10,11. Then read Romans 5.9, I Thessalonians 1.10, 5.9, and Revelation 3.10. Those are the promises rooted in John 14.6. Paul wrote two epistles to make it explicitly clear that, before the judgements, He delivers His people. The coming of Christ is the fulfillment of the Feasts of Trumpets from Leviticus 23. Revelation 4.1 is the fulfillment of that "trumpet blast" of I Corinthians 15.51-53. The idea that the "church" goes through Daniel's 70th week was not Paul's teaching AT ALL. He comes, Jesus, for His bride, God is not a wife beater. This pastor is incorrect in his premise that Daniel's 70th week happens during the church age, that is not true.

Yep, a natural reading of "taken" vs "left" in the story of Noah was that the ones who were "left" were unbelieving and perished. If you doubt this, try it: tell someone the following synopsis of the flood story and see their reaction to the questions: Briefly: "... the world was wicked and God told Noah that he would destroy the world by flood and that to save himself to build an ark to save himself. If you were in Noah's time, would you rather be taken or left?" Most people will interpret taken as in "with Noah on the Ark." Also the only use of "take" that I can find in Genesis re: the flood was to "take" animals on the ark. It wasn't until *after* the calamity that "left" because a good thing. Also, I think if "taken" was meant to indicate destruction/judgement, it would just say that. At the very least Jeff is on ambiguous thin ice. Also in reading all of Matthew 24, not just the dissections that Jeff referenced, is that Jesus will do the "taking" of the valuable, that is why, in the very next verses He compares Himself to the role of a "thief" coming at an unannounced time. Gen ch 19 also used "take" in the opposite sense Jeff suggests.

Personally I see the danger of it seeking or counting on anyone. The Lord Himself will show you Truth. In fact, whatever one says the Bible says, I would say it's their understanding only no matter how many scriptures are tied together. Our thoughts are not His thoughts, our understanding is not His. So one may ask, "How can I know what Truth is?"...
Psalm 32:8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

The "Fig Tree" represents the nation of Israel, which is the OT Church. The destruction of the temple in AD 70 is not the event that Jesus was referring to when speaking to "this generation." There are only two generations: The generation of Christ -- which are the spiritual offspring of Christ by His death and resurrection OR the generation of evil -- which are the spiritual offspring of Satan to which all those apart from those in Christ belong. The "generation of evil" is the unbelievers -- the ones that "seeks after a sign" (Mat 12:39) who are "An evil and adulterous generation" (Mat 16:4). Who is "adulterous?" It is the nation of Israel, which has worshipped other gods than Yahweh and will not repent.
The sign given by God is not the destruction of the Jewish temple, it was "the sign of the prophet Jonah," which speaks to Christ's coming death and resurrection. Christ is the TEMPLE that will be destroyed, razed to the ground by Satan. Christ's purpose was to establish the NEW COVENANT and thus the end of the OLD COVENANT. This dynamic change came upon "this generation" with His death and resurrection. The House of Israel, with its OT types, has been fulfilled in Christ, to include the purpose of the literal temple structure. The destruction of that temple in AD70 is not mentioned in Scripture because its purpose as a type of Christ had been fulfilled.
The stones thrown down (Mat 24:2) that belonged to the temple was the OT covenant, and with it the House of Israel that adulterated God's word and killed the prophets, that evil generation has filled up God's wrath and brought their House to nothing. In its stead, God raises up a new Temple (Christ Himself) in which all the believers raised with Him are Living Stones and now comprise the body of Christ - both OT believers and NT believers. The pile of stones being torn down by Titus in AD70 signifies nothing. Christ the Temple being torn down in order to build God's new spiritual eternal Temple is everything -- it is the whole point of Jesus' ministry on earth.
The generation of evil, those that belong to Satan, continues until the end of the age. This same spirit of AntiChrist (against or opposing Christ) were the ones that destroyed national Israel and polluted the OT with their idolatry. Today, the NT Church is infiltrated by that same spirit - different people but still the generation of evil that began with Cain, a spiritual lineage that continues today and seeks to overthrow the NT Church. Jesus returns in judgment at the end of the age, and this second coming is to judge that evil generation, especially the Church which has become apostate. Jesus was judged and punished by God the Father at His first coming. It will be those outside the True Temple that will be judged and punished at His second.
Since Christ's return is at the end of this age, and following the Judgment, the cosmos is destroyed with fire and remade a new heavens and a new earth -- there are no persons "left behind." The "rapture" is on this earth's last day, it is Judgment Day for the lost, but all those in Christ are gathered together in the air to be with Him forever. The "Tribulation" deals with the NT Church -- its unfaithfulness and God's reaction for their failure to be faithful to His word. The final end of the NT Church is to be overthrown by Satan -- so that he rules in the congregations speaking lies, working through false prophets (declaring as truth lies). The OT Church was not faithful -- they were destroyed by Christ. The NT Church will not be (and is not) faithful -- they too will lose the Spirit of God and their house will be taken away, just like Israel of old had for their fornication, so too will the NT churches see their House left to them desolate, the domain of the unclean and abominable creatures worthy of God's wrath. That is the Tribulation that comes upon the corporate Church -- but, it the true Church made of God's true believers do not come into judgment, nor are they deceived by Satan's lies, but they await Christ's return on the clouds in judgment.
When you drive your eschatological car through the guardrails and off a cliff it is because the warning signs God provided in the Bible were misinterpreted. That is the folly of Post-millennialism, like the Jews that could not comprehend the spiritual truths that Jesus referenced and only thought in terms of physical earthly things, they too did not understand the time of their visitation. Due to spiritual unbelief and opposition to the mind of God as given in the Scriptures so many people end up in a ditch, forced to twist the Scriptures and invent wild theories that confuse God's people, simply because the leaders of the churches will not let God speak so as to harmonize all the texts, but rather insist if they lean on their own understanding, with a little help from Josephus, they will arrive at truth from their position of unbelief -- it will never happen, for God resists the proud.

Actually, disagree with Jeff's interpretation of Matthew 24:34, Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have happened. Many will focus on the word 'generation' or 40 years as an amount of time that progresses from 1948, but the focus should be on the words 'will not pass away' as the amount of time that will elapse. I believe Psalm 90:10 answers this question in that 'We live for 70 years, or 80 years if we're healthy'. Therefore, 70 to 80 years is the correct answer, hence between 2018 to 2028 would be the more correct interpretation.

i disagree also with his interpretation.... its easy to see(among MANY things) 1. fig tree does NOT represent destruction as Jesus tells Nathanael--> [Jhn 1:48-51 KJV] 48 Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee. 49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel. 50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these. 51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
and 2. as you point out "all these things have happened"--->[Luk 21:22 KJV] 22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

Christ was clearly speaking to the generation on front of him. He didn't say the generation that will come in 1900 years. He said "This generation" and spoke of wars and rumors of war (the end of the Pax Romana), fleeing to the mountains, that not one brick would remain of the temple etc... all of which happened in 70 AD

@@Finalsuspect1468 I believe the reason why Matthew 24:34-35 is seen in a future tense is due to the preceding and proceeding verses. Preceding verses such as Matthew 24:30-31, At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn. *They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven*, with power and great glory. And He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet call, and *they will gather His elect* from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. Matthew 24:30-31, "coming on the clouds "... "loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds", is at the end of days. Same with the proceeding verses as well: "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be at the *coming* of the Son of Man", Matthew 24:36-37. I believe Jeff is wrong on his eschatological view. God bless!

*_My views on why I strongly believe a PRE-TRIBULATION rapture of the current church (born again):_*
*1)* Note the elders with *gold crowns* in Revelation 4:4 ? We (Christians) get crowns when we stand before Jesus one day. The elders praising Jesus in Revelation 5:8-10, from every nation, tribe and tongue! This is a clear sign of the church being up in heaven *before* Jesus *opens the seals to start the tribulation* -> *chapter 6.* More on this seen in link below:
*NEW PROOF The Rapture is Pre-Trib! THIS WILL BLOW YOUR MIND!!!! - Cornelius Jones*
      ruclips.net/video/KnFqY8C2O-I/видео.html
*2)* The traditional Hebrew marriage custom perfectly fits as symbolism for what Jesus will do for His Bride (Born of Jesus' Holy Spirit today). Watch these video below for more details on the other traditional Hebrew marriage customs to clearly mirror what Jesus does for His Bride (Church):
*Biblical Marriage Customs Related to End Times - John Ankerberg Show*

*THE JEWISH WEDDING--THE RAPTURE, STEP BY STEP*
      ruclips.net/video/3j8Al5F190o/видео.html
*3)* The main point of the tribulation is to make people repent and turn to God so they don't wind up in hell forever. That's why you see, multiple times in Revelation, certain people *still not* _repenting_ after *a seal* was opened by Jesus. Christians don't need to repent since we're already Born of Gods Holy Spirit. The church is sealed, sanctified, justified and washed from all of our past injustice. We're done with our salvation before the tribulation even hit! Therefore it makes sense why we're _taken out of the way_ before the tribulation starts. Christians don't need to repent! We see Jesus saying that He shall *keep this church FROM the hour of trial (tribulation) that shall come upon the whole earth* in Revelation 3:10. That looks like a pre-trib (pre-trial) rapture to me.
*4)* _After_ the church marries Jesus and is _then_ at the *marriage supper* up in heaven, we (the wife of Jesus) ride out of heaven on horses, following Jesus down to Earth to judge the wickedness of satan and all his minions. *The Church is not down on Earth* when Jesus arrives for His Second Coming!
Revelation 19:6-9 - "And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to Him: for the *_Marriage of the Lamb_* is come, and *_His wife_* hath made herself ready. And to *_her_* was granted that *_she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white:_* for the *_fine linen_* is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, *Blessed are they which are called unto the **_Marriage supper of the Lamb._* And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God."
Revelation 19:14 -- "And *_the armies_* which were *in heaven* _followed_ *Him* upon white horses, *_clothed in fine linen, white and clean."_*
^ The Church is Jesus' wife, the armies _clothed in fine linen, white and clean,_ *following* Him on white horses *OUT OF* heaven to *be a part of* His second coming! Before that riding out of heaven, the wife (church) is seen in heaven marrying Jesus *and then* also going to the marriage supper of the Lamb.
*5)* Enoch was not a Hebrew (Jew) yet he was *raptured* before the great flood (Gods wrath) hit; Enoch could symbolically represent the rapture of the non-Hebrew church ('neither Jew nor Gentile') *before* the great tribulation hits! *Noah* could symbolize Israel, who is saved *through* this time of trial; though they're not taken directly out of it.
*6)* The *Restrainer* must be taken out of the way first, as Paul said, in order for the wicked one (antichrist) to come forth into action and, we who are born of that Restrainer (Holy Spirit of Jesus), _must_ therefore be taken out of the way with Him!
*7)* See in Revelation 7:9-14, how the masses of people seen in heaven, who came out of great tribulation, these people are said to have *washed THEIR OWN robes* in the blood of the Lamb? When you read verses about current Christians, it says that *Jesus Himself washed us!* Christians are not in the same grouping as the "tribulation saints" in Rev. 7.
Revelation 1:5-6 -- _"And from Jesus Christ, Who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the Prince of the kings of the earth. Unto _*_Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood,_*_ And hath made us kings and priests unto God and His Father; to Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."_
Revelation 5:8-10 -- _"And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and _*_four and twenty elders_*_ fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for _*_Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood_*_ out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast _*_made us unto our God kings and priests:_*_ and we shall reign on the earth."_
Revelation 7:9-14 -- _"After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, "Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb." And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, "Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen." And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, "What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?" And I said unto him, "Sir, thou knowest." And he said to me, _*_"These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb."_*
I believe that during the tribulation, the Restrainer (Holy Spirit) is taken out of the way, therefore no one can be *born again of the Holy Spirit of God* during this time period. The only way to be saved entirely is to die for their faith in Jesus, and most of that dying happens due to being beheaded by the antichrist. So this is them ("tribulation saints") *washing their own* robes. Whereas today, in the current dispensation ("age of grace"), we *can* be born again of the Holy Spirit (Restrainer) of God. When we accept Jesus into our heart, *HE* washes us from all unrighteousness. Salvation by grace, not by works --> JESUS washed us; JESUS did the entire work for us. *WE* don't 'wash our own robes.' At the end of Revelation 7, the elder clearly speaks of these people, who came out of great tribulation, *as a different group from any others.*
*8)* We read in *Revelation 20:4* that John *saw thrones and they that sat upon those thrones, judgment was given unto them.* Who are they on the thrones? If anyone remembers from one of Pauls' letters: 1 Corinthians 6:2-3 -- _"Do ye not know that the _*_saints shall judge the world?_*_ And if _*_the world shall be judged BY YOU,_*_ are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? _*_Know ye not that we shall judge angels?_*_ How much more things that pertain to this life?"_
Based on that I'd say the individuals seen sitting on those thrones are the entire (born again) church, and they're distinctly separate from the souls John saw who were beheaded during the tribulation, then resurrected (Rev. 20:4) after the second coming of Jesus. Whereas the wife (church) already came down with Jesus in Revelation *19,* riding on white horses. Two different groups, not the same.

If all of these things were fulfilled in 70AD then tell me what the heck Zechariah chapter 14 is all about? Here it talks about the nations attacking Jerusalem, raping their women and then after they have taken half the city, God himself fights on behalf of Jerusalem and destroys those nations. Last time I checked Rome demolished Jerusalem and did not get destroyed by God himself in 70 AD.

@Brendan Teversham, consider this take on Zachariah 14. This passage corresponds to the attack of Gog and Magog in Rev. 20.
Mat 24 and Revelation 2-19 correspond to Zachariah 13:8-9. In this passage, Jesus, God’s Shepard is struck and his sheep (the disciples) are scattered in the Garden, and come under persecution (I.e. Mat 23, Stephen’s stoning and the scattering from Jerusalem, then Paul and Peter’s deaths in the 60’s just before AD 70). Then it says, as a result of the striking of the shepherd, that God was going to judge his little ones, Israel, and bring them through fire to refine them. Thus 1/3 was to survive and one day Israel will call God their God, and he will call them his people (part of his church). This corresponds to Israel in the present time, but at the end of the times of the Gentiles, Israel will be refreshed spiritually (Acts 3:19-21, Romans 11:25-26).
Then Israel will have peace in the land and generally be known as believers in Christ. Ez 34 covers Jesus coming and then his judgment in separating the sheep as in Mat 25, which reflects Zachariah 13:9. Ezekiel 37:1-14 covers the time from the Babylonian exile (death in the valley of the bones of national Israel), through the beginning of spiritual restoration with Christ and the remnant (Paul and other Jews) through the refining period of AD 70 and up to the present time, and eventually Jesus being recognized as the true King by Israel as he reigns in heaven at the right hands of God on his throne but among Israel through his indwelling Spirit. This will bring peace to the land of Israel in the future. Then after the peace of Christian Israel in the land of Israel without walls (Ez 38:8), then Satan will be released and Gog and Magog (renewed paganism) will come against the followers of Jesus (Jew and Gentile) all over the world, but especially at Jerusalem, then In the moment when all seems lost and the city is being taken, Jesus shall come to earth to deliver his faithful people (Ez. 38:18-23, Zech 14, Rev 20:9, 1 Thess 4:16).
Not sure if that works for you but it’s something to consider. Blessings.

And the Jews inherit these same promises through Yeshua the Messiah, and in fact the early church began with Jewish followers of Yeshua. Sorry Pastor Jeff, but your logic here off in part of the "left behind" In Noah story.. The left behind was the unrighteous, not the Noah's family.. It's parallel with the Jesus's story.
In Noah's, it's so obvious the unrighteous was left behind to facing God's wrath; it's obviously not parallel with "left behind" AFTER the wrath of God.
It's true that the righteous left behind to inherit the earth, but the unrighteous also left behind to receive God's wrath.
You wrongly make comparison between the two that so obvious..
wasn't Noah and his family "taken" from the rest of their families?
That should be comparable with the rapture, not from there jumping to "left behind" to inherit the earth.
i think you still hold on a tradition there, that's why you seems to make an obviously gymnastic argument about the story that's so obviously tell us that Noah was taken to safe them from the wrath of God that fell upon them who left behind on land.

      R. Miller The world is filled with people who say they do not need God and look at where we are and how we have destroyed everything. You know deep down and by the evidence of creation that everything is existence did not come from nothing. So therefore something had to create it, and you are given a consciences that give you your morals. You can not deny there is something that has the ability to create life. But because we live in a fallen creation we want to live however we want with no rules telling us how we should live, so you reject this notion of God. But I tell you wether you believe in him or not you will have to stand before him. So what’s the worst that can happen from trying to believe if gods word is true and seek scripture for yourself. The worst thing is, is that when your dead there is nothing and base case you stand before a holy god and are accounted worthy. But because you don’t want to believe you will remain blind but if in fact if you came to scripture with a willingness to want to understand what is all this talk about faith, you would in fact change. That being said I pray you will understand soon brother and you will still be given a chance that chance to come to Jesus.

@@interrupts165 Sorry, but your statements include several logical fallacies. When a person makes a statement that cannot be rationally supported, it is unlikely to be an effective strategy for convincing people you are correct. For example, I am unconvinced by your response.
You write, “The world is filled with people who say they do not need God and look at where we are and how we have destroyed everything.” I do not understand why you think we have destroyed “everything.” That is not true-it is hyperbolic in the extreme and unserious. We have obviously not destroyed everything. In fact, the world in getting better. People live longer, they are more educated, and war deaths have drastically decreased.
You then say that I know “deep down” that there is a god because of creation. You clearly do not know what I know-you have made a baseless assertion. You are projecting your own beliefs about reality onto what you think I must inwardly know. You are not correct. The second mistake you make in this sentence is that you refer to the universe as a creation. By default, a creation has a creator. You assume the very thing you need to demonstrate. There is no evidence for a creator.
Nobody in the scientific community thinks the universe came from nothing. You have set up a straw man. I don’t think the universe came from nothing-you point falls flat.
Concerning morality: take a look at Exodus 21; the biblical god permits slavery. Some moral system.

Noah didn't come up with his own plan like people are doing today. A sinner's prayer, you just have to believe, etc which is not in the bible. The gospels show what Christ has done on the cross for us. The book of Acts shows us the beginning of Christ's Church and how to enter the Church, obeying Acts 2:38. The letters were written to the Church to show us how to behave now that we are born again into the Church. It's better to walk alone than to walk with a crowd going in the wrong direction. @John Sheffield you are going to have a serious problem with what you are saying. First is I would argue that 1 Thessalonians 4:17 is talking about the final resurrection of the dead and final judgment before the great White Thrown not a rapture before a tribulation. On Matthew 24:31 I would ask you what are we doing right now when we preach the Gospel Gods elect are saved? But your real problem comes with your 2nd point from Revelation 21:2 and how in order for the bride of Christ to descend she must be taken first. Your answer come in Revelation 20:11-15 the final resurrection of the dead and final judgment where everyone is taken before the throne and judged and then those who are saved return with Christ to a new earth. There is no mention of a rapture before that in Revelation I would agree if you want to call the resurrection of the dead and final judgment the rapture but there is not a rapture before a great tribulation.

The God of all creation met with humanity at that very place, the portal between the seen and unseen worlds. This idea can't be overstated. For God to allow the destruction of the Temple is a pivotal event in all of history. Why?

Pastor Jeff, I had to chuckle when you talked about that old song "from the 90's" and listening to DC Talk. I'm a little older than you, and I remember the brand new song by Larry Norman "I Wish We'd All Been Ready" that came out in 1972. Larry used the song as part of the soundtrack that he wrote for the original Rapture movie, "The Thief In The Night", which was shown in churches, theaters, college campuses and coffee houses in the 1970's. We invited all our friends to come see the movie with us, in the hope they would be scared all the way to the altar. Of course, we had our KJV Bibles with Scofield's notes in the margins, so we could answer their questions about the locusts with the long hair and scorpion tails. Wow, so much imagery came rushing back as you started quoting those lyrics.
I left the dispensational camp decades ago, but since then, I have called myself an agnostic regarding eschatology. Yes, I believed that Jesus would return, but held to no particular traditional teaching. If you put a gun to my head, I probably leaned to Historic Pre-Mil. Recently, I felt that given the current events of the day, I would try taking another bite of the apple and see if I could be convinced by Scripture and sound teaching to a particular doctrine. My Pastor had recently preached through the Book of Revelation, so I started there. Although he claims to not be dispensational, he still believes and preaches a Pre Trib Rapture. The more I studied that, the more I realized I would never get there. Then I ran into a video by Bruce Gore on Eschatology, and was astounded when he started in the Old Testament, and pointed out the imagery God uses in His language when pronouncing and predicting judgement of the nations. From there, I moved to Dr. Ken Gentry and several of his videos. I downloaded his book "Before Jerusalem Fell" and David Chilton's book "Paradise Restored". Then I found your channel. All of you have helped to open my eyes, and my outlook on The Kingdom has fundamentally changed. No longer do I feel like we are polishing the brass on the Titanic, but that the Gospel will change the world! So, thank you for your part in my journey to Kingdom Building Christianity.
I'm sure you know this, but our Pre Mil brethren would probably argue that in the examples of Noah and Lot, they were Divinely removed from the place of impending judgement, and all those left behind suffered the wrath of God. And likewise, in the End Times, God will remove His People before pouring out His Wrath and destruction upon The World (their argument, not mine).
Just wanted to share and thank you for your part in my journey to a Post Mil understanding. "Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven"!!

    • @Matthew24.4
      @Matthew24.4 4 года назад

You’re right - no-one in history has ever repented of all sin. Jesus never sinned and therefore never needed to repent of sin.
      1 John 1:8
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
I know plenty of saved people that repented from unbelief to belief.
Acts 19 tells us that repentance as it relates to salvation is to BELIEVE on the Lord Jesus Christ, nothing more, nothing less. Repent of sin is works salvation and our works cannot save us. If they could we wouldn’t need a saviour.
      Acts 19:4
Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should BELIEVE on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

I love and respect Jeff. He’s awesome. I kept a very open mind while he makes his case. But to say those in Noah’s day were swept up, and Noah and his family were “left behind” is (respectfully to Jeff) a way of telling the story to fit his narrative that there is no rapture. I feel it’s obvious the “unrighteousness” was “left behind” for God’s judgement (the flood) and the righteous (Noah’s family) was lifted up and saved from Gods wrath (the flood). It’s that simple. That is a foreshadowing of what will happen with the rapture. Believers will be lifted up so they will not go through Gods wrath and judgement (the 7 year tribulation). We are not appointed to wrath. The 7 year tribulation is Gods wrath poured out on earth. Therefore, we can’t be on earth during the last 7 years (Gods wrath).
Either way, I believe and follow Jesus and I’m here to tell others about Him!

What is the difference between wrath and tribulation? How do you explain tribulation or even great tribulation to those who are slaughtered and tortured because of the name of Jesus in Africa or in China or in North Korea? Believers are not for the wrath but many believers have to go thru many tribulations see Mathew 24 and Acts. I think the house that is build on assumptions and not on a solid and holy word of God will fall apart once the reality faces you with different situation. God bless you.

Looking at the comment people are literally praising this man for a wrong teaching open your eyes people study ur bible the wicked is staying why would God pour out his wrath on Christ believers those who are in Christ? Keep studying....I don't think Jeff is scripturally well-supported on this one; I took his challenge to be a Berean and read both stories (Noah, Lot/Sodom) and take IS used there and it means to rescue out of the calamity - exactly the opposite of what Jeff is suggesting. Also, I read all of Matthew 24 and Jesus uses an analogy of himself as a "thief" coming to take valuables from the strong man. The theory of the church going through the full of the great Tribulation creates big scriptural dissonance elsewhere and Jeff not even acknowledging or dealing with that to present the balance of scripture; he seems to be trying to force scripture into the mold of a doctrine more than just reading all of it and creating a conclusion that seems most natural.

But about that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. Why is this? Since talking with Muslims's this verse comes up almost every time. I prayed for truth from God, and read the verse for months, then it came to me. The reason why Jesus doesn't know is found in many passages (Jn 6:36-38, 6:39-40, ...) Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. The reason why Jesus doesn't know is because a gift is an unknown until they are uncovered, at thier predestined time, sanctified, and justified in Christ.

This is just a question I love Durbin ❤ but the more I learn the harder it is and do you think that it is necessary we fully know and understand exactly the depths of Heaven and Hell and everything in Revelations ? Except for the fact that we must believe in Jesus as our Savior and for Salvation nothing else for he is the truth the way and the life. I find it very interesting but I do not believe God will condemn based on theology , heretical? yes False teaching yes without correction and repenting , Religious, yes but I don't know I'll ever understand everything perfectly except for Jesus died on the cross and rose again defeated death so that none shall perish. Do I live the way I want to ? Sometimes at times when I was struggling ultimately it's because of Jesus I'm alive I'm breathing and has never left me ever in one single day of my life. I will never tire of how great God is and spread the Gospel through love and correction of the truth and encouraging others to read the Bible no matter what not because you have to but because it is God it's the word of God and he will guide you with scripture and the Holy Spirit.

I read it as this generation of people's lifespan. Psalm 90:10, Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away. Therefore, 1948 + 70 = 2018 to 2028, the last 7 years being the great tribulation period. And, I'm watching it happen before my eye's.

Sorry Jeff, you're wrong about Yeshuah's alleged ignorance of the time of His coming. "no one knows the day or the hour" is a Hebrew idiom for the Feast of Sukkot.

However, I am dumbfounded that you think we are in the Millennial reign now! How completely foolish is that!!

A month ago I was reading the other accounts in Matthew about the time of judgement and I came to this same understanding on who would be left behind in Matthew 24z It’s pretty cool to see someone else who has come to this understanding. This is consistent with the order o judgement in Revelation, the sermon on the mount, the parable of the weeds and the wheat, and the parable of the fish which Jesus tells earlier in Matthew.

God doesn't tell us that these are the last days. Down through history persons have declared they were that generation and time has proven them all wrong. So we can speculate!!! There is no catching away, so that idea is a no brainer.

I've grown up in a generally amil/post mil church (the 2 aren't really so different), and I remember being so confused about Jesus’s words in Matthew 24 about one being taken and the other left. I've never believed in a secret rapture of the church, or any of that premil/dispy stuff, but so strong is the dispensational influence, that even in the ranks of non-dispensational churches, we have forgotten the context of those verses and are left scratching our heads as to how to understand them. Thank you for this message, it makes so much more sense to me now, and yes, as you said, it is so much more simple and obvious when you just take it in context. It's one of those things that once it's pointed out I'm left thinking, "how could I ever have missed something so obvious?"

ACCORDING to scripture John 6:39,40,44,54 the only ones who are left behind all the unsaved vessels who are fitted for destruction
Of course you have to throw out the false narrative of Jeff Durbin and a fantasy pre-tribulation rapture so convenient that only Hollywood could describe such an effeminate event
Meanwhile, the Joshua and Caleb minded man of God, who study and show their selves approved. Will all agree that Matthew chapter 24, verse 29 through 31 is apparently the only scripture that specifically tells you in relation to the great tribulation when the rapture will be when God sent his angels to gather his elect .
And a lot of people call that the rapture of the church and anyone else will call it the Harpazo
    Which means the same thing
