Super beginner here! The process of crocheting takes several steps… I only just mastered the slip knot this morning after practicing a little bit for 2 days…and just now made my first chain… now I am just practicing the chain until I have mastered the tension and holding the crochet hook which is an art in itself…when I find myself getting frustrated I just unravel the string and try again and it’s getting better!!! Maybe tomorrow I will be able to move onto the next step. Thank you for your help!!

Soooo this is not a success story or anything but maybe it can motivate some. About 10 years ago I saw my friend crocheting in class. I was in 8th grade, we had sewing lessons incorporated into the curricula, but there were no crocheting and knitting lessons. I asked my friend to teach me, I even bought a hook and yarn myself but... somehow I just didn't understand my friend's explanation and after trying and trying and always failing, I gave up. Now I've never been a very patient or diligent one, so I just thought "maybe this isn't for me anyway" and for a solid 10 years believed that I'd never be able to do it at all. I'd always say "yeah I can sew but I could never crochet/knit". Then suddenly I was asked to sew a felt doll as a gift for a graduating friend. As I sew I thought to myself, "well, isn't this a relaxing hobby?" The reason why it's relaxing is because I do not need to think anymore once the doll plan is set, I just need to repeat the same movements (sewing) without thinking. Now this is different from my other hobby which is drawing, with drawing I feel like even if you've had it all planned (e.g. by sketching first) you always have to dynamically think about stuff along the way. It's a fun and stimulating hobby, but not relaxing enough for me. Again this is just what I think, as a comparison to sewing. Then I suddenly thought, "well... what about I try crocheting again?" So I watched these tutorials and sure it looked easy enough, I've always been a person who learns the most through examples not explanations, and finally bought a new set of hook and yarn because I lost my previous one from the middle school days. Lo and behold after some beginner mistakes... I was able to finish a piece from the tutorial. It's a non-functional small square, but I did it. I finally gained the skill I had believed I could never get for the last 10 years. I thought hard about it after. How many opportunities and experiences have we lost just because we think we can't, and will never be able, to do something? Alright. To end this, I encourage you guys to try something new, even if you have failed on it before! Thank you Bella Coco for the tutor! Please continue making excellent tutorials on crocheting! ♡

This is my favorite channel I have found for crochet tutorials!! She explains everything so well including how to hold the yarn, and where to put tension at. Other channels don’t take the time to explain this, and to a beginner this is all stuff you need to know. I really appreciate that she takes the time to explain even the small details.
It took me a few tries and undoing stitches, but i did it! instead of doing the sample square I crocheted a headband with buttons and button holes for myself.

Don't give up, after more practise you will become better and better at identifying the stitches 😊 Make sure you are starting with a small amount of stitches so you can count them across and also use stitch markers or loops of a contrasting colour yarn to mark off each stitch, then once you turn over to work back along the row you will be able to identify them much easier.

I usually don't comment on videos, but I just had to this time. My sister recently got a crochet kit and tried to learn, but eventually gave up. I've wanted to learn crochet for a while, and since I'm still on summer break and the kit was just sitting there, I thought I'd give it a try. I know this might seem a bit out of place considering the heartfelt comments here, but I actually got the hang of this stitch in just a few hours! I've never crocheted before, and now I'm halfway through a 60-inch scarf. This video worked like magic for me, and I've become a bit obsessed-considering I've already crocheted 30 inches in the last 24 hours since I started. For anyone still struggling, hang in there! The feeling of creating something with your own hands and seeing it come together is incredible. Thank you, Bella! This tutorial is amazing, and you're an amazing human being :)
Thank you SO much for the easy to follow tutorials! It took an hour or so of just doing chain stitches until I was comfortable with doing it, and then moved onto finally doing single crochets and I was feeling so accomplished. Granted the stitches are VERY ugly right now and is a bit loose but I feel like I am making some progress! :)
Hi LittleKeenBean, You are very welcome, the secret is practice and patience which it seems you already have. Just keep going and don't give up and you will improve daily. 🙂
literally just started learning crochet today. after many breakdowns, meltdowns and yelling at my yarn, i landed here and this has been the most helpful tutorial yet. thank you so much!
I've been trying to learn how to crochet for 10 years (I'm 23). I could only ever make a line of chain stitches. Now, I have multiple rows done of this single stitch. Great video, thank you ❤️
Thank you so much!!!! My mom taught me when I was a small child and I had forgotten every detail; how to turn and start a new row, which stitch and how many loops should appear to be on the hook etc. This was an great video, you are a wonderful teacher. Very detailed without being overwhelming or too fast to follow along. Absolutely wonderful!
OMG THANK YOU THANL YOU THANK YOU! After many attempts over the years I’ve FINALLY been able to learn crochet!!!! I will keep practice these first 2 videos before I continue xx😊
this video is so crispy and easy to see! i just bought a crochet stick and some yarn- it took me about an hour, but i have a small square! keeping the hand tension consistent is hard, but your videos really help🙇
Quite possibly the best step-by-step video for a beginner 🙌🏻 Thank you thank you! I’ve been stumped on how to do a single crochet for two days, finally got it figured out because of you!!
Thank you for this.... I've been crocheting for a year and always a good reminder especially how to do the end of the rows - sometimes I still have trouble. Have a good day :)
As a beginner there are so many videos out there. This video for me has been absolutely the best so far. I just started 4 days ago and after watching this I really feel like I'll be able to crochet.
This one made so much sense. The other ones were not clear about when inserting and where to insert they are just like “now insert and hook and pull through.” And they pull through like two hooks and I’m like wait what.
Thanks for this, my new years resolution is to learn crochet, mostly as I'm sick of looking for knitting patterns and finding crochet ones instead! Very helpful videos👍
Im restarted my crochet again. i forgetloop part begining its long time im doing crochet blanket so im watchong your videos again over and over. im making blanket my favorite person and staff
I've always wanted to crochet, but I never got the chance. But now I have my own set of hooks and yarn, I got down to crocheting, it's very simple (once you learn the basics) and relaxing. Perfect for everyone! I can keep challenging myself to make amazing pieces and works of art. Though, if you're a beginner, start off small. This/these tutorial(s) are AMAZING, @Bella Coco! Keep making them, I love it!
Oooooo I'm so happy! I was able to make a swatch, completely irregular and too tight at one part, too lose on the other, but i learned! Now to undo this one and do again until I can do a perfect one And to use normal yarn, since I used a massive one because I wasn't able to do anything with the regular one lol
Looked at several sources to learn this basic stitch..nada .....watched 2 of your video's and I'M DOING IT! Thank you so much for this clear instruction! My neurodiverse brain appreciates it very much!🥰

You explain everything so clearly. Am partway through my second dish cloth (what I do as swatches) and then will be moving on to part three!
Thank you very much, I have a hard time learning to knit and I realized that I have a crochet hook as well so this tutorial you made is very helping! Now I'll just crochet then knit when I am ready to learn it 😂💕
The tutorial helped me so much! I can only repeat what others said before me. This was the only video that could get me started and be able to actually make something. Your explanation is really good, it is not fast. I really appreciate it, thank you :)
It's most likely just down to practise 😊 The more you crochet, the better it will look but you could always try experimenting with different yarns and going up or down a hook size to see if that helps too.
I just started crocheting and it took me a whole weekend to finally get a mini blanket like hers. 🥳 I was apprehensive when I wasn’t getting it right, but the encouraging comments on this point really motivated me to just crochet on and on until it felt like the yarn was moving on its own. I even accidentally made a small uneven hat after experimenting with the layers haha. We got this newbies 💪🏽
i was struggling so long with doing the single crochet (which sucks cuz its very important to crochet anything it seems) I've watched MANY tutorials i didn't know i had to go through the first loop this makes sense to why people when fast and smoothly and i was on the edge of tears and giving up (absolute begginer lots to learn). Thank you for exapling well and going smoothly
im new to crochet but ive been knitting for a good few months, and learning this has been a whole new ball park definitely. but your videos help me tons! showed me that tension is really important, ive started wrapped it through my ring and around my finger so its better tension and more comfortable :)
After 4mins I had to take a break, this is too much for my brain and hands to process and I haven't even bought my hooks and yarn yet but I will climb this mountain.
I love your tutorial. It’s so easy to learn and I was able to master it after 2 days practicing while before i was struggling and almost gave up on crochet❤❤❤
@@bellacococrochet Thank you! My dad bought me a kit for a cuddly rabbit, but didn't realise it was just a pattern and wool, you need to actually know how to crochet first, and your videos have been soo helpful! X
I found mine turned into a circle when I kept adding stiches to the same chain, instead of moving along the chain. Really look at where the hook goes in for the second stitch on that first row, around 3:20 in the video, there’s a big inviting space right next to the hook, but that’s not where the hook gets inserted!
No matter how hard crochet gets for you I want you to keep trying because if you try enough I know you can do it.

For anyone still struggling, hang in there! The feeling of creating something with your own hands and seeing it come together is incredible.
Thank you, Bella! This tutorial is amazing, and you're an amazing human being :)
You are very welcome :)
Umm...she is Sarah
Thank you SO much for the easy to follow tutorials! It took an hour or so of just doing chain stitches until I was comfortable with doing it, and then moved onto finally doing single crochets and I was feeling so accomplished. Granted the stitches are VERY ugly right now and is a bit loose but I feel like I am making some progress! :)
Hi LittleKeenBean, You are very welcome, the secret is practice and patience which it seems you already have. Just keep going and don't give up and you will improve daily. 🙂
I've watched so many videos! And so far yours is the best. I've learned so much. The way you explain it makes it so easy. Thank you.
You are very welcome :)
This was actually the first video i fall into and in only 30 minutes i have already done 6 rows that seems correct thank you so much!
You are very welcome and well done :)
literally just started learning crochet today. after many breakdowns, meltdowns and yelling at my yarn, i landed here and this has been the most helpful tutorial yet. thank you so much!
You are very welcome :)
Omg same! My mom was like, Kendall calm down. I was yelling at my yarn and hook because the yarn wasn't yarning :)
I cried as much as my dad helping me with my homework lol
same, bestie, same
Lmaoooo
Damn everybody out here crying 😫😭
I thought I was winning first video but I've flunked class 2... three times. I'll have to re sit til I pass.
This is the best comment I have ever seen!!!! Regarding homework and dad!
Same :'(
I've been trying to learn how to crochet for 10 years (I'm 23). I could only ever make a line of chain stitches. Now, I have multiple rows done of this single stitch. Great video, thank you ❤️
You are very welcome :)
You are very welcome and I am so glad that they have been of help to you :)
OMG THANK YOU THANL YOU THANK YOU! After many attempts over the years I’ve FINALLY been able to learn crochet!!!!
I will keep practice these first 2 videos before I continue xx😊
You are welcome and well done for not giving up :)
I wanted to start crocheting and this series is exactly what I needed!
Im really glad it's helping you, keep watching for the rest of the series :)

Quite possibly the best step-by-step video for a beginner 🙌🏻 Thank you thank you! I’ve been stumped on how to do a single crochet for two days, finally got it figured out because of you!!
Glad it was helpful :)
Thank you for this.... I've been crocheting for a year and always a good reminder especially how to do the end of the rows - sometimes I still have trouble. Have a good day :)
You're very welcome its always good to have a refresher to look back on. Keep going i'm sure you will keep improving :)
As a beginner there are so many videos out there. This video for me has been absolutely the best so far. I just started 4 days ago and after watching this I really feel like I'll be able to crochet.
I am so glad that it has helped you and remember that crochet is practice and patience so keep trying and it will get easier :)
I just started yesterday learning to crochet & you have helped so much with the step by step process!
I'm glad it's been helpful :)
You're welcome 😀
Did you do it!?
This makes me so happy!! I'm going to be crochet ALL THE THINGS..well squares for now all the squares 😂
Thank you so much :)
Oooooo I'm so happy! I was able to make a swatch, completely irregular and too tight at one part, too lose on the other, but i learned!
Now to undo this one and do again until I can do a perfect one
And to use normal yarn, since I used a massive one because I wasn't able to do anything with the regular one lol
Well done, remember that crochet is practice and patience so keep trying and it will get easier :)
Looked at several sources to learn this basic stitch..nada .....watched 2 of your video's and I'M DOING IT! Thank you so much for this clear instruction! My neurodiverse brain appreciates it very much!🥰
You are very welcome :)
I just found this tutorial... on # 2 It's been over 30 yrs since I last crocheted. This is wonderful to watch to get back into this. Especially now that we are all quarantined in our homes. Stay safe everyone and remember Social Distancing and the 6' apart rule.
Thank you and hope you and your family all stay safe and well :)
I really understand how to do it . Thx a lot!! I'm just a teenager, this really make it look easier and easy to understand 😍
You're very welcome 😊
*_OMG... I AM CROCHETING!_*
Thank you _so_ very much, you really are a great teacher. 🤗💕💕💕💕💕
You are very welcome :)
I am very proud of myself, I managed to learn how to do the slip knot, chain, and one row of single stitch. The next day I then learned how to do the second row!!!! Your tutorials are so helpful! I've always been the type of person who needs to watch someone do it and not have it explained on a piece of paper. Also, if your reading this, never ever give up!!!! 💖💖
Well done :)

I'm glad that it was helpful :)
In the beginning it was really hard then after a couple days of practicing I finally got it and I was so happy
Well done for not giving up :)
@@bellacococrochet thanks!
Just found your channel as i just picked up crocheting as my new hobby. I'm so excited to start and you make it really easy to follow along! Thanks!! (Hannah from the US)
You are very welcome and remember that crochet is practice and patience so the more you do the easier it will become. Good luck :)
“We now have 4 stitches.”

Me too😀...mess..mess ...mess...but she is such a good teacher..🥰
Yup. But her instructions are clear and easy to follow. Just need to get my fingers to do the do
This was the first thing I ever did I watched three days ago and now I’m already making frog plushies! Definitely recommend it was really helpful!
I'm glad it was helpful :)
I did all of this in one go twice, and I have never done it in my entire life.I think im a fast learner 🙃 Today was the first day your explanations were so good 👍
This is a great video, I learned from part one, now I'm here trying to learn the next steps...I'm excited to think I might actually be able to make something if I stick to it!
You explained this so in depth and simple at the same time, 10/10 teaching skills, I have watched a few other channels but your videos are very easy to follow
Well done for not giving up and remember that crochet is practice and patience so the more you do the easier it will get :)
your videos are so helpful ! I've been trying to learn for months and after watching this video I got it in one night !!!!
Well done :)
After working for about 2 hours and numerous attempts, I’m ending the day with five rows finished! I can’t wait to continue my work tomorrow and practice more crochet! I’ve always wanted to learn and I am so excited I’m finally doing it!!!
Well done for not giving up, keep practicing and it will get easier :)
@@bellacococrochet Thanks! I’ve finished the square and crocheted a bee and am working on a snake!! This video helped me understand crochet soo much! Amazing job!
2024 guys are u here ❤
I watched 7 videos before I got to yours and I really wished I watched yours first. 🤦♀️. Yours is so easy to follow and I only had to watch your video once to figure it out. Thank you so much!
You're very welcome 🙂
I agree! This is by far the best crocheting video I ran into.
is anyone else trying to make the harry styles cardigan??lol
Meeee
yess,how you doing???
sofiatorres18 pretty good😭 it’s so much work but in the end i know it will be worth it!!! how about you??!
ugh I want to
i’ve had like 5 mental break downs making it, and i’m not even halfway done😭 do any of you have twitter??
Don't wanna brag.... But i got it in the first try.... 🙋♀️😅 Its due/thanks to how simply you have explained/taught i guess... Thank you !! Can't believe I can crochet finally 🎉
You are very welcome 😊
This was really helpful thank goodness for u
I'm glad it helped :)
Does anyone find it really satisfying to just watch her do it in silence?
my nightmares will just be the words ″yarn over, pull through″ repeated over and over again from now on.
I've been knitting since 2020 and wanted to pick up crochet recently - tried last week and got frustrated with other videos, so I tried again the other day with this one (I understood chaining, but not single crochet) - thank you so much for this video! You explain everything so clearly. Am partway through my second dish cloth (what I do as swatches) and then will be moving on to part three!
You are very welcome and well done for not giving up :)
Thank you very much, I have a hard time learning to knit and I realized that I have a crochet hook as well so this tutorial you made is very helping! Now I'll just crochet then knit when I am ready to learn it 😂💕
You're very welcome 😀
Easily the best crotchet video I've ever seen. So clear, so well explained. Can't wait to start this is truly brilliant ☺️
Thank you so much, i'm so glad that it has helped you :)
WE still watch her in 2024
HEREEE
The tutorial helped me so much! I can only repeat what others said before me. This was the only video that could get me started and be able to actually make something. Your explanation is really good, it is not fast. I really appreciate it, thank you :)
I'm learning how to crochet so then I can make plushies for my friends
That’s so sweet I’m trying to learn so I can make plushies too! Good luck ☺️
Unfortunately my mom does not how to make a plush
What's a plushie?
@@tanyaphilstrom7077 a stuffed toy
same!
I got the chain down, but my single/double just looks like a turd. What am I doing wrong?
It's most likely just down to practise 😊 The more you crochet, the better it will look but you could always try experimenting with different yarns and going up or down a hook size to see if that helps too.
That happens to me sometimes too. Bella Coco is right.
Okaaay, it might be possible after all. Thank you for these videos. I’m gonna give it another try 😂
Hi Bella Coco I honestly love your videos they thought me how to knit thank you for your learning activities 🖐️👍
You're very welcome :)
8.6 million views but it’s the same 80 ppl that have watched it 100k times 🤣
I’m watching these hoping my parents get me crochet hooks for my birthday 😂😂
same omg
i was struggling so long with doing the single crochet (which sucks cuz its very important to crochet anything it seems) I've watched MANY tutorials i didn't know i had to go through the first loop this makes sense to why people when fast and smoothly and i was on the edge of tears and giving up (absolute begginer lots to learn). Thank you for exapling well and going smoothly
You are very welcome and remember that crochet is practice and patience so keep trying and it will get easier :)
I just started crocheting and I found this so helpful! You're a great teacher :) ps. love the nail varnish
Thanks so much 😊
I’ve done it, after many attempts and lots of crying, my square has been completed
Well done that is brilliant :)
I really wish I could add pictures!! I tried this but instead of a square it started to become a circle 😂 so I ended up making a beanie!!
be proud it isnt easy learning to crochet but it is very satisfying. Good work
im new to crochet but ive been knitting for a good few months, and learning this has been a whole new ball park definitely. but your videos help me tons! showed me that tension is really important, ive started wrapped it through my ring and around my finger so its better tension and more comfortable :)
My parents are asking me why I’m crying because I can’t understand how to do it
Yes. I get frustrated also
😂 I can't cry...its frustrating
Fr😭
Keep at it and don’t quit
thank you so much for your videos! your tutorials are amazing
You're very welcome :)
After 4mins I had to take a break, this is too much for my brain and hands to process and I haven't even bought my hooks and yarn yet but I will climb this mountain.
How far have you come with it? (Asking as I've only started today and feeling overwhelmed)
I love your tutorial. It’s so easy to learn and I was able to master it after 2 days practicing while before i was struggling and almost gave up on crochet❤❤❤
I'm glad it helped :)
Help mines gone into a circle, it's a really good looking circle, but I don't think it should be one XD
Hi Robyn maybe you have dropped some stitches along the way, can you try and put stitch markers at the beginning and the end of the rows? :)
@@bellacococrochet Thank you! My dad bought me a kit for a cuddly rabbit, but didn't realise it was just a pattern and wool, you need to actually know how to crochet first, and your videos have been soo helpful! X
My god, mine as well😭
I found mine turned into a circle when I kept adding stiches to the same chain, instead of moving along the chain. Really look at where the hook goes in for the second stitch on that first row, around 3:20 in the video, there’s a big inviting space right next to the hook, but that’s not where the hook gets inserted!
@@lya7231 I'm on my fourth try and so far we've got some deformed triangles and a gumdrop.
I LOVE THIS! THIS IS SO HELPFUL
I'm glad it has helped you and remember that crochet is practice and patience so the more you do the easier it will become :)
