OMG thank you soooo much, I've been struggling with crochet for a while. I have a newborn baby cousin that is going to love this blanket. Little Claire will have a nice warm blanket hand made by her favorite cousin
I made this blanket with 25 stitches & only in vintage white by Bernat! I LOVE IT!!!! super soft & beautiful! Years ago, I made 3 other blankets using the same Bernat Blanket yarns, just different colors. I made them to fit a twin size bed & my 3 kids love them! They are cozy and oh-so-soft, plus they wash really well! We have washed ours at least 50 times over the past 6 years & they’re still going strong! I’ve also used the same yarn to make Adirondack winter hats & we just love love love them!!! So cozy but I love that they are super easy to wash! Thank you for sharing this video
I have been wanting to learn for years how to do this, and after rewatching your video over and over with lots of practice I finally got it down! Thank you so much for teaching me to crochet!! 💕
Thank you for the demonstration! This inspired me to try a bath mat with this yarn. Seeing it's acrylic, it should dry fast, and machine-wash no problem!
I have also loved making this blanket. It was the first project that I have done in about 20 years. You explained everything so well verbally as well as showing each of the processes. Thank you for helping to building my confidence to continue learning. I am very hopeful that when I gift this blanket it will be well loved and appreciated.
I love your videos! Your voice is so soothing and calming - I say that because as a beginner listening to your calm voice instructions it really helps relieve the stress of being such a newbie at crochet. I'm going to try this but I'm going to use a dual-color yarn for my first time so that I don't have to worry about changing colors. Once I see that I can do it properly I will attempt the two-color like you've shown here. Thank you for sharing your expertise!
I watched this video over a year ago and I made a scarf now looking back at it it was fresh but it was the first thing I ever crocheted I am now gonna start an Etsy shop so thank u thank you so much u legitimately changed your life!!!
Absolutely love this pattern but I’m nearly finished with my first 300g yarn after only 6 rows! Will need more but I’m so excited to finish my blanket and give it to my niece for her first birthday !
Yeah I’m not sure how she claims only 600g to make the blanket.. I did make it slightly wider by like 10 stitches. I’m almost done 1 skein and it’s only the size of an adult scarf.
@@sophiadean2849 Hi :D I made a blanket for myself that is about 5 feet, but narrow so I only need about two whole balls of the white yarn and two of the purple (I used the same colors as her) and still had some left over! Hope this helped :)
This is soooooooo helpful, I have only been crocheting for a few week and I was able to get the knack of this way of making the blanket I have now finished and teaching my mum to do it too! ❤
@@bellacococrochet did you do a border for this blanket? I love this pattern but I usually make a border for blankets. What kind of border would you recommend?
A year ago today I learned to crochet and do many projects by the help of mostly your videos and some others. I wanted to do it so badly at first and assumed there would be no videos on RUclips and That I would have to take classes. I made lots of projects for friends, family and my animals that they love so much. I just want to thank you so much for uploading videos to youtube for everyone to learn. It made me realize how happy and grateful I am for some people who just want to spread information regardless if their is a price on it. I learned so much and I cannot thank you and so many others enough!
I managed to get the first row but when coming to the half treble I got so stressed and couldn't do it Edit: I now managed to make six rows and i am almost about to change colours Edit2: sorry it was such a long gap finished the blanket the sides weren't entirely straight and it took me about a month because I kept getting frustrated and I made a bigger blanket than the one in the video
Molly It’s all about practice! If you’re just starting, I recommend making a blanket just for yourself to see what you need to work on, what patterns work best for you, etc. that’s how I started crocheting, started with one blanket for myself to see my weak points, and how to improve, etc. It helps you see how you’ve progressed! If you were planning on making it for someone else, continue, and when you’re all finished, start with one for you to help you
Loved this pattern! Thank you so much! I made my 1st baby blanket from this. Wish I could send a picture to show you how it looks. Thank you for taking so much time to explain each step throughout, it’s greatly beneficial for new crocheters, like myself. ❤️
I love the way you explain how to do start etc I have been learning with you for sometime now and I have made quite a few projects but they do take me a little while as I only have one good hand to use but I get them done and it helps me with my depression and anxiety and also I live alone as I am disabled you are the best Bella keep up the good work
Ahh thank you so much, Living alone is not easy especially if you have a disability. I'm so happy to hear that crochet helps you with your mental health - Happy Crocheting :)
My daughter who is 6 has been learning to crochet with her Grandma this summer and has loved your videos. She is making this baby blanket and is really enjoying it, thank you.
Bella, I really enjoyed watching and learning from you. Thank you very much for posting this easy to follow instructions for crocheting. Now I can get a blanket done that is going to be for my second blood grandchild. My youngest daughter and her husband are expecting their first. You are a great teacher.
My grandma, my mom, and my aunt all failed to teach me because they didn't slow down enough for me to get it... now I'm gonna learn. Once IK get the basics down, I think I'll make this my first project. :)

My daughter is going to ❤ the blanket I’m making her and she’ll keep it and remember me for ever! Again thanks so much!

@juulzxo, well done you for doing your blanket and we all have a little habit of getting some parts mixed up but so what 🎉you smashed it & dead right to keep the next one for yourself, you put the word into it and reward yourself. I randomly thought oo lets crochet since I've been sick for the past week. I thought I was foolish but I told myself, let me find one youtube video that explains it well enough and looks good enough for me to follow. Saw your vids and popped my order for the materials right away. It came today and I am planning to make this blanket. My first yarn I ordered was Bernat Baby blanket and its soft and heavenly but my god is it chunky and hard to play with. But all day I've been playing around with it and got used to it. Now I plan to make this little blanket! Thank you so much. I love all of your videos, I can't wait to learn and see what I can make!
I had to restart 4 times because I was following a book at first, and then when I realized it wasn't working, I saw this video...but I didn't finish watching it, so even though it worked for a good bit, I missed som stuff and yes, had to undo it and start all over again...so it was a total of like 6 times I had to start over again. Once I followed the video almost EXACTLY I didn't have much trouble, and it came out pretty awesome.
Currently trying to learn to crochet, noticed my cat took an interest in my soft fuzzy yarn and decided I’m going to try and make him a blanket. This video was so easy to follow but my nails are slightly too long to work with right now so I’ll use it when my nails are shorter. Thank you for having such helpful videos. I’m a very impatient person but your tone of voice helps me relax whilst I’m crocheting. So again, thank you
So glad I found this, I’m wanting to start a crochet blanket business. Are these a good size for crochet throws or baby blankets? 🥲 I’m doing a few practice ones and I struggle with the sizing 😂
The completed size is 25 inch (W) x 29 inch (H) approx, this maybe different depending on the type of yarn you use, your hook size and your personal tension. I would say that this is a baby blanket size. I wish you the best of luck with your business :)
instead of “honey where’s my super suit” it’s going to be “HoNeY wHeReS mY cRoChEt SuPpLiEs” 😂 (Edit) I DID NOT EXPECT THAT MANY LIKES THANKS YOU SO MUCH 😂💕💕

You’re welcome 😊 As this is quite a simple blanket I think it would work best with a simple border too - you could try a puff stitch edging or just a simple crab stitch to finish it off. You can find tutorials for both on my channel 😊
Amazing! I made a blanket from this tutorial this weekend. All your tips were really helpful. I missed a few stitches and learned a lot about my tension and that I should have used a slightly bigger hook. But it turned out to be very pretty. I made it for my niece

@@bellacococrochetJust a quick question on the pattern. Are there a certain number of rows that might be best for the blanket? Or is it just what works best?
I love the pattern in fact I crocheted a baby blanket in those same colors for my 1st great-grandson the year he was born (he’ll be 5 yrs old in August this year). And his Mommy my oldest granddaughter still has it to give him to keep when he’s older.
Oh my, this looks gorgeous, I have only just stumbled across it on Facebook. I would love to have a go at this in readiness for my new grandson due November 2023 - I am a beginner & have tried the original granny squares and also the v shaped granny square. Not saying that I have mastered these, but need an 'actual' project now - I assume the wool listed comes in different shades, looking for a nice baby blue - thank you for such a great tutorial on all the videos, you are clear and concise and make it seem like anyone can do it! Thank you xx
@@bellacococrochet thank you, I was wondering could this be done in any chunky yarn? I am having trouble getting the colour I really would like in the Bernat?
@@bellacococrochet - thank you, its certainly a labour of love - I have unpicked it so far three times and re started. I was just not getting it the same as yours. I seem to gain inches in width but have the correct amount of 53 stitches! I cannot work it out. I am also short in the height of 29 inches, so I may just add some more rows. I have re watched the video so many times, but I just cannot work out where I am going wrong. The printed pattern is also different to the demonstration. Here it says chain 2 then turn, on the printed pattern it says turn then chain 2. Fingers crossed my finished blanket looks ok, I will post a photo if I remember.
hi I’m really sorry I know the video was uploaded a couple years ago but I’m making a baby blanket and I’m a beginner and I don’t see this question in the comments I was just wondering if after the second row were you turn the turning chain into a stitch doe the stitches change I’m sorry if I didn’t explain that well but is it still 53 stitches or does it become 54? 8:58

Thank you for this video ! I have bought the Bernat baby yarn and just want to do one block of colour. Can I just keep going with the rows or will it affect the shape of the finished blanket? (Like when making a giant granny square) Thanks ! 😊😊
You can just continue adding more rows and as long as you are making sure to keep the same number of stitches each time then it won’t affect the shape 😊

I made my first blanket a few years ago and this video refreshed my mind! Thank you so much! I’m working on my second blanket now for my soon to be here son and I think I’ll make one as a gift for someone who’s having a baby as well
You are very welcome and congratulations :)
OMG thank you soooo much, I've been struggling with crochet for a while. I have a newborn baby cousin that is going to love this blanket. Little Claire will have a nice warm blanket hand made by her favorite cousin
You are very welcome :)
I have used this yarn and I love it. It’s soft and thick so it works up fast. Thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome :)
You are very welcome :)
I have been wanting to learn for years how to do this, and after rewatching your video over and over with lots of practice I finally got it down! Thank you so much for teaching me to crochet!! 💕
You are very welcome :)
Thank you for the demonstration! This inspired me to try a bath mat with this yarn. Seeing it's acrylic, it should dry fast, and machine-wash no problem!
You're very welcome :)
I have also loved making this blanket. It was the first project that I have done in about 20 years. You explained everything so well verbally as well as showing each of the processes. Thank you for helping to building my confidence to continue learning. I am very hopeful that when I gift this blanket it will be well loved and appreciated.
You are very welcome :)
You're very welcome:)

You are very welcome, good luck with your shop :)
I just begged my mother to buy me this yarn...it came today and now I’m becoming obsessed with making these blankets. 😀👌
Hey! How much yarn did you need to get? I’m wanting to make some for Christmas bjt idk how much to get for just a normal blanket haha
@@sophiadean2849 Hi :D I made a blanket for myself that is about 5 feet, but narrow so I only need about two whole balls of the white yarn and two of the purple (I used the same colors as her) and still had some left over! Hope this helped :)
@@georgiegirlgamez8059 how long did it take?? Someone told me if you’re a beginner then it takes months 😭😭
Tbh it only took me about a month- but I did only work a little on it every few days :) so it doesn’t take that long!
This is soooooooo helpful, I have only been crocheting for a few week and I was able to get the knack of this way of making the blanket I have now finished and teaching my mum to do it too! ❤
I'm so glad that it helped you :)
Just made my first project ever and it was this blanket ! Excited to make another one you’re the best teacher !Thank you ❤
Well... I can make a single row 😂
Hi Andrew just remember that crochet is all about practice and patience so don't be too hard on yourself. Well done for at least doing a single row :)
Finally, I'm not alone!
I tried when i was like 12 and all i could do was 1 row, i quit since then. Lol too complicated for me being more than 1 row
Andrew Foster same
Andrew Foster that’s a great start. Do some practice rows before you make the blanket

Edit: I now managed to make six rows and i am almost about to change colours
Edit2: sorry it was such a long gap finished the blanket the sides weren't entirely straight and it took me about a month because I kept getting frustrated and I made a bigger blanket than the one in the video
How far are you now?
Molly It’s all about practice! If you’re just starting, I recommend making a blanket just for yourself to see what you need to work on, what patterns work best for you, etc. that’s how I started crocheting, started with one blanket for myself to see my weak points, and how to improve, etc. It helps you see how you’ve progressed! If you were planning on making it for someone else, continue, and when you’re all finished, start with one for you to help you
I feel your pain girl I have 2 sisters and 1 brother
at least you're doing it! My first project would fit your description
I followed this too, and my blanket kept shrinking and shrinking!
2 years ago I made a blanket in earth tones exactly the way your doing this one and it turned out beautiful.
How many stitches should be done for the adult version of this? Especially for the first row
Figure out how many inches you want and do stitches until that length
I'm currently making an adult version. I chained on 100
@@emilyboiter3075 how much yarn did you use to make it? Thank you
I'm making a throw blanket for my mother-in-law I chained 170 usually you would chain 164 but I like to add a few more stitches just in case.

You are very welcome and I hope you are feeling better :)
I have restarted my baby blanket 7x and I think I finally got it😴
I had to restart 4 times because I was following a book at first, and then when I realized it wasn't working, I saw this video...but I didn't finish watching it, so even though it worked for a good bit, I missed som stuff and yes, had to undo it and start all over again...so it was a total of like 6 times I had to start over again. Once I followed the video almost EXACTLY I didn't have much trouble, and it came out pretty awesome.
Lol ive started this blanket an have takken it apart a 200 xs

This is so funny I had just going to Walmart and bought the same yarn she has I'm so excited to make my first crochet blanket!!!

I wish you the best of luck with your business :)
instead of “honey where’s my super suit” it’s going to be “HoNeY wHeReS mY cRoChEt SuPpLiEs” 😂

@@bellacococrochetJust a quick question on the pattern. Are there a certain number of rows that might be best for the blanket? Or is it just what works best?
What lovely colour you picked it looks like it'll work up real fast and make a perfect gift ! You inspire me all the time 😍thank you so much !
You are very welcome and congratulations on your future Grandson :)
No, you should have 53 stitches for each row throughout the blanket :-)
I love watching your videos. Even though I can do this I still found myself watching to the very end. Nice yarn and nail polish🙂
Thank you! 😊
