    When you all started reaching out to me about not being able to make over 6-8 candy apples before your candy hardens or gets too thick, I had to come and do a tutorial on the Candy Apple Recipe 6-4-1. I know this particular problem all too well. You should NEVER have this issue again with candy apples! This is why I am going to show you how to make candy apples from home with this candy apple recipe 641.
    When I first started making candy apples two years ago, I would have two pots on the stove to make just one dozen of candy apples. When I would use the 311 candy apple recipe, or the 411 candy apple recipe I would only get about 6-8 candy apples. After my last apple the candy would be too hard and too thick before I could even finish. Not only that, I wouldn't really have enough candy to continue dipping the rest of my candy apples. I had to come up with a solution. I know I could've doubled the candy apple recipes, but that just seemed like too much sugar and corn syrup for me.
    I had to get in the kitchen and figure out a better solution to the candy apple mixture. So now I have it pretty much perfect. My candy apples always comes out perfect using this candy apple recipe. I am always able to dip all of my candy apples without getting another pot. The candy apple recipe I used is the following:
    6 cups sugar
    3-4 cups water (4 is better to me, because it prevents the candy from being too thick)
    1 cup corn syrup
    1 TBSP regular flavor (I use this amount because the recipe is pretty much doubled)
    With this wonderful candy apple recipe your customers will enjoy your candy apples, because the candy is not too thick. This candy apple recipe will get you 24 (small/medium) candy apples in one batch with the perfect crunch!
    It is my pleasure to give you the best candy apple tutorial so you can learn how to make candy apples at home. Pretty much learning how to make candy apples with sugar, water, and corn syrup will be a great way to get your family involved in the kitchen. Try experimenting with different gel food colors, because this will give you the practice on how to make candy apples any color. I love the Hobby Lobby brand gel food colors. I used a hint of blue and green to create teal candy apples.
    If you need a tutorial on how to clean your candy apples first, the following video shows you how to clean your apples with lemon juice, baking soda, and salt. This candy apple cleaning method really gets the wax and sap off your apples before you dip.

      Hello Kiya. So you don't have to worry about reheating your candy, your candy thickening up before you finish dipping, and to avoid thick candy apples: I suggest you use 6-4-1 for 10-15 apples. That will be 6 cups sugar, 4 cups water, and 1 cup light corn syrup. Let your candy reach 300 degrees and then dip your apples. Thank you so much for subscribing.

      Hello S. Jackson. Thank you so much. The majority of the time I just use Walmart brand as far as sugar because it works great and is cheaper. I use Karo the majority of the time but any light corn syrup will work. I've also used Walmart's brand corn syrup and it works great too. I always use LorAnn butter vanilla unless the customer request for a different flavor. Butter vanilla is my default flavoring. The majority of the time I use Hobby Lobby's gel food coloring. I absolutely love Hobby Lobby's gel food coloring. Use 6-4-1 candy apple recipe: 6 cups sugar, 4 cups water, and 1 cup corn syrup. I love Hobby Lobby's soft pink gel food coloring. Hello Alex.
      You can refrigerate your candy apples and they will last a longer. You will know when it's time to throw them out once you see the candy breakdown on the apples. The best way to keep the inside clear and green is to clean your apples with lemon juice, baking soda, and salt. I tested a candy apple by placing it in the refrigerator for 2 weeks. I cut it opened and it was still clear and green. Here's one of my tutorials on cleaning apples. ruclips.net/video/L5YGfgi56Pg/видео.html I surely hope this helps you.

    Hello! Thank you for sharing this method! I am curious, with adding more water does the candy of the apple break down fast? I have to dip 75 apples and I normally do it the day of but unfortunately, I don't have time. How long does this mixture last after it is dipped and how do you recommend storing them after they are dipped? Thank you ❤️

    • @DIYQUEENDIVA
      @DIYQUEENDIVA  3 года назад +4

      Hello, Veronica. Thank you for your question. I have never had any issues with the candy breaking down fast on the apple. With all candy apple recipes make sure you apply the 24 hour wait period before dipping to prevent any candy breakdown. I usually dip my apples the same day as the event as well and never have that issue. Since you do not have time I would first recommend just making sure you have your house at least 65 degrees to keep the apples cool and to prevent them from becoming sticky. Place them in the bags and keep the bags opened until. You will still store them the same like any other candy apple recipe.

      When I say flavor, I'm talking about like butter vanilla extract that I use or whatever flavor you want to use such as your vanilla extract. You can use whatever extract flavor you desire. My favorite one is butter vanilla by LorAnn's.
      After all your apples are dipped, you would need to bag them up and keep them cool. If your house is not 65 degrees or cooler, I suggest to put them in the refrigerator with the cellophane bags opened.
      When you are getting ready to deliver or give to your customers just put twist ties or ribbon on them to tie them up. I hope this helps you.

      You can usually do one batch method using two colors depending on the colors you are using. I'm afraid your red will come out pink because you will be using a good amount of white to make white candy apples. However, that super red is pretty good from Hobby Lobby but I wouldn't guarantee you'll get red apples because of the amount of white you will need to use. You may have to make a separate pot of candy for your red. I'm just trying to tell you the truth so you don't be disappointed.

    • @DIYQUEENDIVA
      @DIYQUEENDIVA  Год назад

      You can, but you will probably have bubbles on them if you’re just going to rinse them off. If they are just for you and your family to eat that’s totally fine. To answer your second question, I wouldn’t freeze them due to when they unthaw and all that condensation. The candy has a high risk of falling off and there’s a possibility of the apple becoming soggy. I never freeze my candy apples. You can test this to see how they will come out. They will probably be sticky as well from the condensation.
      You might want to make them the day before and place them in a cold place or in the refrigerator. I hope this helps.

    • @DIYQUEENDIVA

      Regular light corn syrup is fine. You shouldn't have bubbles if you're cleaning your apples down good. Make sure you wipe them down hard within the 24-48 hour wait period. I wipe my apples down good 4-5 times and that's a minimum. Candy apples are had. This candy apple recipe is to prevent your candy apples from being too thick. I do not like thick candy apples. Don't use too much food coloring because that can make your candy apple mixture become thick. I hope this helps you.

      Hi! Make sure you do the cleaning method with the lemon juice, baking soda, and salt. Not just with water. Yes, wipe them down like every 6 hours. If your corn syrup is clear that's light corn syrup. If your corn syrup is not clear then you may have a tint to the color you are using. For an example if you are using dark corn syrup, your white apples will come out a light to medium brown color. When you dip your last candy apple, go ahead and start using your packaging to pack your candy apples up. If your event is a day or so later, leave your bags opened and place them in the refrigerator until the day of the event. The day of the event close your bags. I hope this helps you.💕

      This recipe does take longer for perfection. Your apples were probably more on a bigger medium size. I know this recipe can get up to 24 small apples. • @DIYQUEENDIVA
      @DIYQUEENDIVA  2 года назад

      Hello, Sarai. Don't try to do this without a candy thermometer because everyone's stove is different. Take it off once your candy reaches 300 degrees at hard crack. If you have a thermometer just give it time it will eventually get to 300 degrees.

      Hi, Tiffany. The recipe does hold up very well and yes it's about the same as 311 and 411 candy apple recipes but a little better because the candy is not as thick to bite into. No, the candy doesn't break down faster.

      Hello, Syroya.
      I understand your frustration, especially when you have so many apples to dip using the 311 or 411 candy apple recipes. This is why I wanted to share this candy apple recipe that I came up with experimenting in the kitchen, because it was exhausting to use two pots at the same time for candy apples. Make sure you cook all of your candy up to 300 degrees using a candy thermometer only. • @DIYQUEENDIVA
      @DIYQUEENDIVA  3 года назад +2

      Good question. You can still dip them. However, I recommend 24-48 hours to prevent the candy from breaking down too fast or bubbling. I've been in that situation before. As long as you clean them good and wipe them down as many times as you can you shouldn't have a problem. I hope this helps.

      @@lauraswanson199 I used a 3.5 QT pot. If you are just starting to make candy apples please make sure you do the 24-48 hour wait before dipping. However, during that wait period make sure you continue to wipe all of your apples down really good with a paper towel. I usually wipe mine down each 4-5 times during that wait period. Usually when you have bubbles it's due to you not wiping the wax off your apples good. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have some more questions.

      You need to cook your candy to 300 degrees. If you're cooking it to 300 degrees you need to make sure your house is 65 degrees or cooler, and the other problem could be you need to replace your candy thermometer.
