  • Candy Apple TV: The BEST CANDY APPLE CLEANING METHOD with lemon juice, baking soda, and salt will be shown in this tutorial. This candy apple cleaning method is a very good method to use when it comes to getting the wax and sap off of your apples. The cup of lemon juice prevents your apples from turning brown inside the apple. While the baking soda and salt helps remove the wax and sap off your apples.
    Your apples must be clean and clear of any wax or sap before dipping your apples in your candy mixture. If you do not make sure this process is done, your candy apples will appear to have bubbles.
    The CANDY APPLE CLEANING RECIPE:
    1 cup Lemon Juice
    2 TABLESPOONS Baking Soda
    1 TABLESPOON Salt
    I use this recipe every single time and never have any issues with my candy on my apples appearing with bubbles on them. My candy apples are always perfect with a mirror or glass appearance. Just make sure your apples are very clean.
    While your apples are sitting they are not ready to dip. You need to let your apples sit and wipe them down with a paper towel within a 24 hour period. I know there are many recipes out there to dip within the same day or within 12 hours. You can do those recipes, but waiting the 24 hour period will definitely help your candy from breaking down, especially if you are making the candy apples a day before the event.
    Many will ask what kind of apples are used for candy apples? The best apples to use for candy apples will be Granny Smith apples. These are best because they have less sugar and sap to release from the apples. Red apples are usually sweeter and harder to clean. Since red apples have more sugar, they will have more sap to clean off the apples too. This will make the apples harder to clean.
    If you have any questions or comments, make sure you leave them down below.

    I followed someone else’s cleaning method and it literally cooked the apple and made it look like a bad apple when it was cut😢 I will never clean my apples any other way but this way my apples came out beautiful and not cooked. You are definitely the best hands down

      Hi. Unfortunately, I’ve never used vinegar so I wouldn’t be able to advise you with that. However, I don’t think it’ll hurt because people do use vinegar. You can use plain boiling water but you’ll have to really wipe down your apples good if you don’t have lemon juice.

    Color to mix to make turquoise color or lavender color.

      They have these colors at Hobby Lobby already in the gel food coloring bottles to make it easier for you. However, if you don't have these colors lavender is a light shade of purple or violet so you can add white. While turquoise is made by mixing blue and green together. I hope this helps you.💕

    • @DIYQUEENDIVA

      Continue to wipe that sap down. 24-48 hours is good enough. You must make sure that sap is wiped off good before dipping so you won't get any bubbles.

      No, because my house is always 65 degrees or cooler. You should be fine with them out on the kitchen counter unless you have the heat on or if it’s naturally humid or hot in your house then go ahead and put them in the refrigerator.💕

    Question I have to make 40 candy apples 🍏 by next week. Can I use the red apples. Do I bold them and put them in the fridge overnight. Or clean them as I go.

    • @DIYQUEENDIVA
      @DIYQUEENDIVA  11 месяцев назад +1

      It takes 24-48 hours to make candy apples the right way. I wouldn't recommend red apples, this is why you don't see me make candy apples using red apples. Red apples are sweeter and are harder to clean. They release more sugar than the Granny Smith apples. This causes sap on the apples which causes bubbles. Your red apples won't be as pretty as the Granny Smith apples.
      Follow the instructions on how to clean your apples like in the video. Clean them all at one time. Do NOT put your cleaned apples in the refrigerator. Please keep them sitting on your kitchen counter until you are ready to make candy apples. Once you have made them you can bag them and leave the bags opened to place in the refrigerator until the day of the event. Make sure your house is 65 degrees or cooler before dipping. Your house do not need to be humid or hot. I would make 40 candy apples either one or two days in advance to keep them fresh. I hope this helps you. 💕

    Quick question do you clean the apples in boiling water and wipe them down 1st then on day 2 you put them in the lemon juice,salt and baking soda? Then they are ready dip

    • @DIYQUEENDIVA
      @DIYQUEENDIVA  Год назад

      No, do everything on the 1st day. Then let them sit 24-48 hours on your kitchen counter, but during that 24-48 wait period continue to wipe them down with a paper towel during the morning, day, and night. Then after 24-48 hours whichever hour you prefer you can dip. The thing is just making sure you get the wax and sap off so you can make some pretty candy apples. I hope this helps you. Please let me know.

    What does the sap look like? I did the process and i dont see anything that looks like "sap".

    • @DIYQUEENDIVA
      @DIYQUEENDIVA  2 года назад +1

      It's a clear sticky substance which are the sugars releasing from the apple. Just continue to wipe your apples down. Give it a couple of hours, you'll probably see the sap soon. Just make sure you continue to wipe down your apples good to avoid bubbles.

      I like that she only dips for 7 seconds and I believe, that’s why the ice bath isn’t necessary. I think when you dip for 10 seconds, it causes the apple to start cooking. So from now on, I’m using the 7 seconds rule😁

    • @DIYQUEENDIVA
      @DIYQUEENDIVA  11 месяцев назад

      Half a pot or enough to cover the apple. Just don’t fill it too high to avoid a spillover when the water boils. I’ve done that many times at the beginning but everything will be back fine once you pour some out.😂💕
