  • @Poppikah

    For anyone wondering why your crinkles are flat, it’s probably because you didn’t refrigerate enough. Also be sure to also use a firm ube jam and good baking powder to ensure this or become watery.
    Important for non-fluffy crinkles!!
    Make sure to cream the sugar egg and canola oil! But not enough to make a whipped cream texture. Or maybe that will taste good 🤔 Also dont over mix the overall mixture! You want it to be a cakey texture so it’s hard to over mix but it’s still possible!!!

    • @yummyph
      @yummyph  2 года назад

      Hi! You can but the texture might be off since the ube halaya is a starch that is needed to keep it soft and moist. You can certainly trying adding more flour to make up for it but we have not tested it without ube halaya added. Good luck! Thanks for watching our videos. 😊

    • @yummyph

      Hi! Not sure what the texture of ube paste is but if it's like ube flavoring, you may need more flour since ube halaya is an ingredient that adds bulk to this recipe. If it has the same texture as ube paste, you can use it as a substitute. Yes, you can use any edible neutral-tasting oil. Good luck! Thanks for visiting and watching our videos. :)

    • @yummyph

      Hello! What makes crinkles so appetizing is the visually pretty cracks in the cookie that's exposed between the powdered sugar cracks. You'll lose that when you don't roll these in powdered sugar! Anyway, you can still make these cookies without the powdered sugar, minus the pretty cracks. Hi! The dough will never be dry because a dry dough will result in dry and hard cookies. :) The dough will remain sticky but once chilled, will be easier to work with than if it wasn't chilled. That's the purpose of chilling the dough. Thanks for watching our videos. :)

    • @yummyph
      @yummyph  6 лет назад

      Hi! Ube halaya, when translated, is ube jam. However, if the "ube jam" you have is different from what our halaya is like, then you'll have to use halaya to ensure that this recipe works. Good luck! :)

    • @yummyph
      @yummyph  6 лет назад

      Hi! Purple sweet potatoes aren't the same as purple yams (ube), so if desired, you can omit the flavoring since sweet potatoes have a stronger flavor than ube. :) Good luck and hope the recipe works out for you. :) Thanks for watching our videos. :)

      Hello! If your crinkles came out flat, you might need to test your baking powder. It sounds like the baking powder you used may already be expired and is no longer reacting to the heat of the oven to puff up the cookie. Look here to find out how to tell if your baking powder is still active or not: www.yummy.ph/lessons/baking/check-if-your-baking-soda-and-powder-are-still-active. Thanks for watching our videos. :)

      Hi! Ube is a local root crop of the Philippines. It's earthy and mild tasting. It's neither a purple sweet potato nor is it purple taro. Looks wise, It's actually closer to a yuca than sweet potatoes, taro, or yams. :) Thanks for visiting and watching our videos. :)

      Hi! You can always skip the food coloring and just use ube halaya. Remember that recipes are guides, not the rule, so if you want to change the recipe, feel free to do so but we do stand by the recipe as written. By omitting the food coloring in this case, your crinkles might not be as vibrant as the ones we made here but will still be delicious. (Btw, TMI haha!) Hi! Since we do not know how much you spent on your ingredients, it's best that you calculate that yourself. As a general rule, it's best to charge your customers 150% so you can buy more ingredients and have the extra as profit. Hope that helps.
