I like this video, not because he has so many, but because he reads, loves, shares, and recommends comics. Collectors are a dime a dozen, but enthusiasts are the ones who get it.
Erik Tempest same
I AGREE. I don’t collect to sell them I collect because I want to read them and admire them.
i am sure you are the "cool uncle" in the family
Ramiro Galletti I try ;-)
+Bob Bretall how did u do something like this ? and was this task easy and if so can I do something like this ?
+Gaming legend X --> I'm 53 now and started reading comics when I was 8. I've bought & read comics pretty much every week for 45 years now and never stopped. Also, my wife is totally cool with me collecting and does not ask me to get rid of comics. So, I wouldn't call it EASY per se, it's something that happened over many decades, it's really more persistence on my part that made it happen. Some people buy HUGE collections in bulk and amass comics quickly. I'd never have been able to read them all if I did that. It takes a LOT of time to read 100,000 comics.....
Info on my Guinness Record can be found here:

+Bob Bretall From now on, you are my hero. ..Congratulations for that amazing comic book collection
Bob Bretall Can you share some?
I have nothing but respect for this man
Imagine trying to move house...
It's over 90,000!!!
+TheNoobtuberr LOL
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Hahahahaha😂😂😂
Sounds like something Vegeta would say from Dragon ball.
@@GHOST91991 no shit
Comics are so damn addictive as there are so many to buy and so little money to spend. I collect trades although the waiting is long but it's worth it in the end.
very addictive and EXPENSIVE!
jdbabyv3
I'm glad I got out when I did. When they raised the price past $2.99 that was it for me. I lost interest long before I stopped collecting. The price hike was the final straw for me.
I'm sorry I ever started collecting.
And so little time to read them all! ~Watch my channel for COMICS videos!~
The ones that are worth reading are far and few between. I went through an indie phase at the end of it. I was tired of the superhero stuff and was still trying to convince myself that I was into comics. I ended up with a lot of junk. For every Walking Dead, Bone, Hate or Strangers In Paradise there are 50 or 100 indies that are trash. Not to be mean, but there is a reason these people aren't working for major publishers. Some want to tell stories that don't fit at a company like Marvel or DC. Most of them just aren't talented enough. I don't miss it. Any of it. The space requirements. I had over 6000 books when
I stopped. I don't miss the bagging, boarding and constant organizing. Obsessively keeping track of what's coming out to make sure I didn't miss anything. Filling holes. Spending tons of money every month. In my heyday I was up to $90 a month. In the 90s! I prepaid. I don't miss the same recycled stories. I don't miss the flood the market approach taken by the big three.
It got even worse when I purchased a comic store. I did that for almost ten years The customers and the distributor were a nightmare to deal with. I kept ordering books but wasn't reading them. I did that until I closed in 2008. Once I had to pay for them with my own money it was easy to stop. Don't miss them. I'm sure there has been some stuff that has come out that I would enjoy. I still liked the Garth Ennis Hitman and Punisher stuff. His other stuff was hit or miss for me. But I have no desire to get sucked back into that. Especially at the current (ridiculous) prices. I can buy a kindle book for a few bucks and get a week's worth of entertainment out of it. Why would I would want to pay 4-6 dollars for ten minutes of entertainment. Which also most likely requires a future purchase as it is probably a single part in an ongoing story. No offense to comic fans but I will stick with my Kindle Paperwhite.
+DAVID veilleux Collecting is not for everyone. It seems clear it's not something David enjoys.
From what he says about not enjoying most books he read or a lot of indie books being "trash", it also seems he made the right move moving away.
That said, it's all very subjective. One person's trash is another's treasure. I read LOTS of Indie books and I greatly enjoy many many series. Doesn't mean that David's opinion that they are "trash" is wrong, just that it's just his opinion, not an absolute truth.
Personally I find a lot of comics to enjoy, so I buy and read them. Someone who doesn't find them enjoyable should not.
Poor guy. I could only imagine how he felt when Stan Lee died.
I was very sad when Jack Kirby died in 1994.
I would love to see a long documentary on this guy and his collection. I would have so many questions to ask about what he does and doesn't have. His favorites in the collection. An hour would not be enough time.
im actually real happy for this guy he loves comics and buys them and reads them and isnt just trying to get the highest ticketed item
Bob Bretall is an amazing guy and he is so humble. SO humble. Genuinely respect him.
My wife would HATE you, because me and you would be instant best friends...been collecting 30+yrs myself. I don't have nearly the amount of books you do though, I only have 17 full long boxes, putting my collection @ about 3500 to 4000 books, plus various paerbacks and graphic novels. Don't collect the current stuff, guess thats why I have so little books...only back issues circa 70's, 80's books and only Marvel and DC. I do admit...I LOVE THE NEW 52. The Justice League, Batman, and Detective comics whenever I see those in paperback...I'm on it.
bigbabysld same here but I would love to start collecting some of dark horses star wars comics
Wish I had the kind of money it would take to buy 120 comics a month.
+TheBindingOfNorris You are correct, and I buy them from Discount Comic Book Service, so get a very healthy discount off cover price.
where do you buy your comics
@DAVO CAMPBELL long boxes, personally I buy designed boxes, right now I have to long boxes that have design, one is avengers and the other is deadpool
This is so GREAT.
Good video, and amazing collection.
I enjoyed it.
Thanks for showing us a peek into it.
Bob, I love this video and have saved it to my favorites. I've watched it about a dozen times now...haha! I wish you would consider doing an ongoing comic book channel here on youtube. I'd love to hear you discuss your thoughts on books, favorite titles, reviews, etc. There's a huge comics community here already. Think about it!
The room with the figurines is awesome. Everything is arranged with exquisite taste. I loved this video. Thank you for sharing !
wow....huge collection!! you are awesome
Epic man cave! I really love the medieval weapons & helmets you have as well!
Coming through to show support to your channel! We liked and subscribed!

If were still collecting I would definitely go digital. I have over 20 long bioxes from my collecting days. They are just in the way and are a huge pain in the ass when moving.
The sooner I can sell them all off, the better
His collection is legen.... wait for it ...dary!
New comic book fan here and I look forward to a lifetime of comic book enjoyment.
Thank you for sharing your passion with all of us Bob.
I think you are my hero, seriously you are a source of inspiration for all us collectors :D
I'm actually drooling watching this.
Absolutely amazing.....quite a feat of achievement in it's own class.
He should do a longer room tour on his comics. His collection is awesome. Congrats man.
Beautiful collection well display and organized 👌
Great collection, one of the best I've seen.
Love your collections!!!
Most awesome collection ever!
That is super cool , I have a pretty decent collection but hopefully one day my garage will look like that!
Keep the passion alive brother!
I love your collection! I so envy you!!!
I love the Weird Science set in the background!
That Is One Mighty Big Comic Book Collection! Wow!!!!
Wow..... Amazing Collection
It's gratifying to see so many of my EC Library and Barks Library books on the shelf behind you. Do you have the EC Archives too?
WONDERFUL. Archie's comics and The Flintstones . I love. Grew up on them. Enjoy it.
I'd love to come visiting for a weekend.
Awesome! Good stuff. Enjoy.
This is so amazing
Awesome collection and well put together video. I'm kind of nervous to hear that that number lists as the words largest collection.....people have been hinting that I might have a problem but I just laughed it off....I'm half way there....and about half of em have been acquired in the last seven months. Its a shame we don't live next door to each other. I'm sure we would have a blast!
Wow man, such a big collection! I envy you! Just a shame there's not enough space to put them all on shelves!
Pretty cool, I also started collecting and I'm loving these comics !
great video cheers for sharing
He should make a RUclips Chanel
And you should get a literacy teacher
@@naxs2919 you missed the full stop at the end of your sentence.
Comicmendous! Nice and huge collection
would love to see his original artwork collection!
Cool man nice job 👍
love this buddy
wonderful collection Bob and i love how you organize them. i have been watching captainstrangelife for quit some time now who seems to have a gigantic collection. do you think yours is still larger than his ? ANYHOW KEEP LOVING THE HOBBY.
I loved this video!!
Ohhh god you seem to have the most amazing figure/comic books ever!
Fascinating
awesome vid! seems like a very cool dude
Omg what a cool dude! :D
Wow, really nice. What software do you use for your collection? I buy collectors insurance, do you have your collection, books, statues, etc. insured?
the fact that he reads those comics he bought is freaking amazing..
right on man. keep collectin
He should start a library of comics where people who can't afford buying every comic book can read at lower price.
amazing, i live in punta arenas chile almost in the end of the world, as you can imagine is difficult as hell to adquire comics here, but i understand your passion i have something like 1000 comics by now and is the best entertaiment ever, i choose comics over TV even over movies, comics are just amazing
Ps: sorry for my poor english
In pop culture superheros really blew up. ex Marvel movies.
you sir are awesome, and I love your love for comics.i was born in 73 and when I was in the 3rd grade I had a gift for drawing and I loved comics but my dad would make fun of me so I dropped the hobby and became a sad highschool all American from n.c now ive gotten back in the hobby because I love comics too.
Its a treasure trove of stories (:D
this was a great video. hans (captainstrangelife) collection deserves a documentary . I f you have not seen his collection or know him , he is a must see collector
I cannot agree more. Hans' collection is a force to be reckoned with. The mind-blowing vast amount of comics and pop culture memorabilia that he has is nothing short of staggering. He just needs to hire a (very trusted) person or two to go over and help him organize, is all...hahaha :)
evanisovich There should be a kickstarter to fund a Strangelife museum!
This is so true.
I'm honored to even conversate with Hans.
thanks for sharing. a first world nerd problem would be finding storage for the empty boxes of all your statues and mini-busts... that would probably take a another room.
Amazing...
I have the same Captain America Shield you have and I painted it in exactly the same colors you have including the dark blue you have. I paint cabinets for a living so I recognize color more than most.
Will you show your rare and first appearances of chars you got? I would really like you to do a video of all your special comics.
This is wonderful, although my right eyebrow cocked upward a bit upon learning the number of comic books involved. I read from a CBG article of MARK EVANIER that he owns something around 125,000-plus comics. No doubt that thousands of those are probably complimentary copies due to his comicbook connection, but what amazed me more is his claim that he never sold any of his comic books since he started collecting them in the early '60s. Mad props to you, though, Mr BOB BRETALL.
Aw nice! I collect them too!
That Hulk book behind him is a Red Hulk #1 (2008) hand drawn Hero Initiative variant. The 100 Project. I have 2 of them and they are 2 of my favorite books in my collection.
Awesome collection, but I can only imagine how much of a chore dusting off all those statues every once in a while must be!
+Joe Dee Air duster! (like you get in the computer store). Just don't use it full force too close to the statues or directly on delicate parts...
Wow this is so cool 😎
Is It bad that his collection of stuff is so beautiful I actually started to get emotional
Hostile Narwhal very
Awesome collection! I've always been fascinated by comic books and have actually wanted to get into reading them (especially after seeing this video). So my question is where do I start? What would be a good comic to start? Any advice would be helpful! Thanks!
+Ryan Chacanias It really depends what you like, there's no one right way to start out that works for everyone.

My e-mail is on the ComicSpectrum site so reach out if you have any specific questions.
This is awesome .... I wish I could build a collection like that out of anything but my interest goes to comics -videogames-films -anime-music so not cheap hobbies at all and since I have little disposable income I have to choose only a few things from each.
How I wish I have even a quarter of your collection. I only have 5,000+ and I buy 70 comics a month. Mabuhay from the Philippines!
Never read a comic in my life but if I knew you and you let me borrow, I'd totally give it a go
+only28dayslate Go to www.comixology.com/ , they have lots of free digital comics from many genres you can read. They hope to get you hooked on free 1st issues so you'll buy more!
I started collected batman comic and I love it. It's just that so many side story's get intertwined in them, that it's impossible to know them all because they change greatly over the years. They have alternate versions and sometimes it's very confusing!
Great!!!!!!
My dream is to have his collection. What a dream right.
1:32
EC Comics Library volumes behind him
I have 5 of the tales of suspense and I I only just started, I saw you had some in the backround
