Thousands of books from the silver age to modern, including some absolutely HUGE key issues… but will I able to negotiate any of these awesome books for my own collection? I actually had a similar experience with hulk 181, I was going through my uncles comics because he wanted me to look through and sell them, when I saw that book I was so shocked and told him he had the holy grail of comics, and I sold most of his comics, and as a thank you he gifted me the hulk 181, its the greatest gift I've ever received.

I work at a comic book store in VA, I have had ppl come in with keys, 15/20 cent, and grails! I've always told them, do not go to another cbs, you have all of the info you need on your phone. Arm yourself with the knowledge you need to either Auction or high buyers. Obviously numerous times I've wanted them and could have bought them for.....lunch money. I find what you throw into the Either, is what you receive. Well done Sir, best video yet.

It PAYS to be honest Bro!! Super happy to see how honest you are!! I did the same when I bought a huge collection of ASM from an older gentleman. He tried to sell me them for 1.00 each. I couldn't do it!! I could have paid like 80.00 bucks and walked with about $4k worth of books. I ended up paying around 800.00 for some select books. I gave him info to other buyers to get the best bang for his books at great prices on the ones I already had!! Awesome job Bro.! Makes me happy to see people not taking advantage of others.!

That plastic was killing me :) - polybags just don't last over 5 years.
You also deserve recognition for honesty. Many of those books were probably not worth nearly as much when he got them - a Hulk #181 in that shape was a $20 book in the early 80's and that FF 48 in that condition would have been super cheap. You did the right thing telling him current prices. Those books have jumped massively in the past couple of years. I had a 9.2 181 that I got for $1000 and it was a fair price at the time. You did the right thing.
    Enjoy those books!

You have absolutely done, the correct thing working with this man. About five years ago a friend and neighbor of mine had mini vintage sports cards that he wanted to sell. I went through them with him and he told me that someone had offered him $1000 for everything. I told him that they were worth more one card in particular someone offered him $90 for and I told him that he would be better off. Sending it to Psa to get graded. He listen to me and for the $12 drink he returned that $90 card into a $500 win. And aside from helping my friend, I left with some great feelings. It always pays to be truthful.

Sounds like you have made a friend for life with your honesty- and he seems like a really nice guy- sadly in today's world- maybe too nice- other people would have taken him. Now he's got a knowledgeable friend who will give him some guidance going forward. And you get to get a closer look at all those comics! It was a walk down memory lane seeing some of those earliest books. I grew up in the '50s and '60s and had all those holy grails. My mom got sick of seeing them in my room so made me get rid of the whole bunch. I sold them to the kid next door who was a couple years younger than I was for $10. My mom heard this and thought I cheated him so made me give him the $10 back. If that kid kept those books in the same condition I gave them to him he'd be a multi-millionaire today. (That happened about the same time as my avatar photo was taken.)
Back when COVID hit I was bored one day and decided to clean up the garage. That's when I found out I had a lot more comic books that I hadn't touched in over 25 years, about 10,000 ranging from the mid '70s to the mid '90s. I learned about cleaning and pressing and grading so started to send books out to Avery Comic Cleaning and Pressing and then to CGC, then sold on eBay. The first book I sold was X-Men #120 in CGC 9.8. Then #121, first Alien comic, TMNT #2, and on and on. Selling enough to help pay bills and put food on the table. Lately for medical expenses too.

I love your honesty…I had a fella at work loan me boxes of old books to read. Big big value. I was scared to take them home because they were my responsibility. He was so incredibly nonchalant about them. I was drooling to buy them but he wasn’t interested in selling. When I tried to return them his reply was always “yeah I’ll pick them up sometime” but he never did. This literally went on for weeks. The Devil on my left shoulder told me to just keep them but the Angel on my right told me to take them to him. So I did. I knew it was the right thing to do. He’s since passed on and I often wonder whatever happened to those beautiful books.

I just happened upon your video last night, I was looking for something to watch. I liked what you had to say. I just turned 61, I’ve been reading comics since ‘73. So I don’t have the same sense of awe like todays collectors. I picked these titles up in quick shops when I was a kid, I still have them. I started getting Hulk in ‘73 till around ‘80 then I picked Hulk back up in the late 80s. When people say buy what you like, that’s me. I just enjoy the stories. I buy Omninbuses, absolutes and deluxe editions. I know I have some books of value, but I just buy what I like. You’re a classy guy, I like how you handled the situation. I hope you’re inspiring other collectors to be honest when they are buying collections or individual books.

The reason you are holding those comic books in this vid is on a count of the type of person you are. Fair and forthcoming are not the strongest traits in the comic book collecting biz so it's definitely nice seeing those traits being rewarded.
Whats funny is seeing you coming upon that 181. Now the thing that's funny I too have that comic but unfortunately that was my favorite comic at very young age. So it went everywhere with me and was read over and over and over again and again. And too me, I think I got my monies worth ten fold, cause it is one of the best issue's for obvious traits of sale. So I would just like to say thank you for that moment and bringing a smile back to my face. And ugh now I gotta go back thru boxes upon boxes in storage and Yada Yada. And who knows what I'll come across, so thank you and congrats on the world coming together for those 2 finds.

That Wolverine #1, # 17, and that King-size Avengers #10 Newstand are worth some nice money too. Lucky finds indeed.

I'm probably going to be in the minority with my opinion. I think 1k would have been enough for both books considering the amount of work you are going to do for him. The FF is deteriorating, the value won't go up on that book. The Hulk will go up in value but the book isn't rare by any means though obviously extremely desirable. The labor of love you're going to do for him is extremely time consuming considering he doesn't have anything organized. Obviously it will be fun but nothing in life is free. I commend you for everything you're doing. This was the best video I've seen you do. Looking through boxes like that and seeing so many great books is a dream come true. Congrats on your finds!!!!!

It’s motivational and inspiring to witness someone with great morals do well and share their experience for all to see. Not only that, but remind people to always no matter what, “yes be the better person in all situation, do not take advantage of people”. You are awesomelicious for sure.

Seeing all those comics without backing and in that condition being shuffled through and bent made me die a little inside. Someone for the love of God get this guy some backboards. Though I must say. WOW! What a collection. Really glad some of those comics found a good home 👍

I actually did say to my wife "Mike's a better man than I am". But you're absolutely right, and I don't think I could take advantage of someone like that. As I've gotten to know more people here in the community through RUclips and Instagram, I know that I'm a better person, and I would have been honest with him as well. No matter how much I want a Hulk 181 in my collection, I couldn't lie to someone just to get it. Those books of his looked awesome, and it's so heartwarming that he made you that deal. Great grabs, Mike! This really is the best community out there!
