Rick's store is what I've always imagined the perfect comic & retro toy store to be. Exhilarating video. Coming from a creative background, it's nice to see people like Rick get the spotlight here since key people from our childhood who worked behind the scenes on the properties we love rarely get acknowledged. Hope we see more of Rick!
great job Michael, your honesty and support of local shops is what keeps them in business and gives us a place to go other than shopping on eBay and whatnot!
Finding good deals and finding key comics for cheap at strange and unusual places just hits different then buying comics at a comic con, online, on whatnot or even in an LCS. Like finding them at a barn, or a basement like Mike did, or a yard sale, an estate sale, or even in your great uncle's attic. Just hits different! Especially when you get them for almost zero dollars!
i love that you seem like a very humble guy, and your willing to share your honey hole spots! you represent what the comic collecting community should be!
Rik is the man, he literally wrote the collector's guides to Transformers. I had no idea he had a shop, just discovered it on FB marketplace and was pleasantly surorised to find your walkthrough video...great stuff!
What a great day. A great story. Would love to visit Rick's store, it's awesome. I could never afford all those Spidey's but just to be in the same room as them would be pretty special. All those great covers.
What a great shop! Rick, what a nice guy! I was salivating over those DCs and crime comics. Anything by Gil Kane I can look at all day long. You are a good guy Mike. Help this guy out, he deserves success. Genuine geezer. Great show as always. Cheers mate.
I love your perspective, you very well maybe just a guy on RUclips but you have a kind genuine heart. People like you remind me the world isn’t quite as dark as I thought. Thank you God bless you and your family dude
I hit the jackpot on comics 2 times in my life. Months ago I found a Batman 181, first appearance of Poison Ivy at a garage sale in Ohio when I was visiting my sister who lives there. Well first I found the cover it was detached then I found the entire coverless book, complete pages with the pin up on another box. Paid $60 for it along with some vintage 80's toys! The 2nd time I hit treasure was 9 years ago. My neighbor at the time who was in his 60's was cleaning out his basement. Thank god he took put those comics in a transparent trash bag and thank god I saw him take it out of his house. He was about to throw them into the trash because he said his wife wanted them thrown out because they were cleaning the clutter in his house. Those were his childhood comics!!! I found an ASM number 1-70 complete run along with a few other vintage comics!
@RLucas3000 oh my wife is a collector too. She became one when she married me. That's how you know a girl really loves you is that if she accepts and like what you like and vice versa. Most girls don't really love their husbands and just married them because their husbands provide for them. It's sad really. But I'm lucky my wife loves me.
This is the type of Comic book shop I like every book is priced and no haggling, went to a new Comic book store over the weekend and none of the books were priced and when I went up to the counter to buy the books the guy pulled out his phone to check on eBay for the prices on the books I had to leave.
I think part of it is because of your platform and he knows you probably have a following and can bring him more business through this video and future trips to his store…but it’s also because of your aura and personality. You’re one of the most friendly and personable content creators I follow so it is no surprise to me you hit it off with this store owner and got a good deal.
Another awesome video Mike 😃 Rick is a collector’s dream, great stock priced to sell. This will bring customers back over & over. Plus you’ve made another great contact/pal. Can’t wait to see more footage.
So, this is the first video that I stumbled upon of yours. It makes me really excited to see more of your content. In this hobby, there are so many people looking to turn a quick buck that many people miss what collecting is about. The joy, the excitement, the thrill of finding that personal grail, and most importantly, sharing that passion with others. You and Rick have shown that. Cool store! Some huge books in there, but I would come out with more than books. All those toys are in great shape and it would be hard to resist so much of that Kenner stuff!!!❤
I think you deserve the same credit as you gave Rick. He does seem cool and honest. You sharing and helping is just as cool. I am coming home to N.E. at the end of the month. Oh man i feel old 😅 Actually met lots of up-and-coming names in the community at that show, Rik, TF artist Dan Khanna, BBTS founder Joel Boblit, Alex Bickmore of the Super Toy Archive… good times 😌
Hey Mike, just wanted to say I’ve been binging your videos for the last few weeks and you’ve rejuvenated my feelings for collecting. I’m only 22 years old but I stopped buying books a while ago but now I’ve had the urges to go out and find good books cheap and build an actual single issue collection. Currently my goal is to complete the Power Man and Iron Fist run and I’ve already secured the pricey issue #50 for only $10!!! In just a few weeks I’ve managed to get around half the run with $7 being the most I’ve spent per issue, many less than $1 now. Just wanted to say thank you for making me enjoy the hobby again and keep up the great hunting content!
Wow that’s absolutely insane! What an awesome looking store and incredible prices! Always happy to see another great store opening. This is adding to my list of stores to visit. Great pickups!!
Rick sounds like the sort of person you want to sit and talk to and listen to all his stories! What a fantastic person and he has a wonderful shop. Look forward to seeing the other videos you make with him.
Running into that situation was the best . The way it used to be and giving a fellow collector a break with the great books you picked up, was the icing on the cake. I am gong to visit that store!
Met Rik myself and like you said an all around great guy. His back story was so interesting so I was glad he had time to tell me about it. And you weren’t kidding about his prices. I picked up Tales to Astonish 41 which I was missing in my collection. Looks like you got some good ones also. Congrats Mike!
You hit a gold mine, classic DCs I would read and keep, especially independent comics also, I would not have nothing to do with the comics of today, good hunting..

Hmm, probably the nicest deals I got for comic books are at Joe's barn sale when I visited Florida. Do you know Angelo and Sara from The Comic Den RUclips channel? They got almost 20k subscribers. They frequently go to Joe's. He is an 80 year old man who has been a comic book dealer since the 1970's and he sells comics really cheap. Sometimes he gives them away for free! Joes does monthly barn sales of thousands of comics. It's a "honey hole". If any one of you in the comments are visiting Florida, just direct message The Comic Den on the location of Joe's comic barn sale!
Wow, man that's absolutely awesome Mike. great find. I sorta met a guy the same way and wish that we lived closer (his shop is an hour away from me), so that I could help him out as well. That is truly the fun part of collecting. The Discovery!
After seeing this video I really wanted to stop by this store. My dad and I were at my sisters house in maine for Father’s Day and were heading home back to Orlando Florida the next day. I checked our route home and noticed that Ricks shop was just off the highway a little ways and thought how cool it would be to stop in and check it out on the way home. Great shop lots of great comics. I purchased a good stack of comics lots of great stuff. Seems I was a little late. Rick said it was the busiest day he’s had so far at the shop. Even had people waiting for him to open. I still got a lot of really great stuff but a lot of the really good books were already sold. Great video, great content, really cool how it all worked out. If you’re ever in the central Florida area I own Living Dead Comics in Orlando Fl. Would be cool.
Great looking store for sure! Pretty sure those Bob Hopes are not by Owen Fitzgerald however. The covers are by Bob Oskner and Mort (MAD) Drucker. Fitzgerald did many of the earlier issues
Oh how I would love to have those early ten and twelve cent Batman, Detective, Action, Superman, and early marvels fantastic and unbelievable!!! Gary Bailey KingofDarkness God of Thunder and Lightning
LMC I am about to have to take a road trip to the northeast!!! Those books were crazy.... the mirror master book literally made me jump out of my chair
Because of this video, I called the store to ask about a few comics. He had one of comics I was looking for! Unfortunately, my terrible cell service caused me to miss out on the comic, but he was more than willing to work something out with me! I am in Oklahoma by the way lol.
I'm on the hunt for a Batman Adventures 12, first appearance of Harley Quinn in comics. It's value is around 600 to 2,000 USD, depends on the grade but I dont want to pay that amount for it. I know a lot of collectors who found that comic in the wild through a friend's closet or in a garage sale for very dirt cheap! It's a high print and hope to find one someday, I know I will!
Wish I lived in New England. Hope Rick the best, used to be a framer as a part time job. Tell him to design frames where you can pull the comic out of the back and put UV or museum glass on so you can actually read them in the future and they’re protected from the sun. New revenue stream!
Have a store similar to this near me: mostly vintage toys with some comic books. Unfortunately, they priced all their books during the comic boom and haven't updated their prices since.
I'd love to spend my $ with this gentleman. And would love to hear some toy stories while I did. Being 16 hrs away makes that difficult though. I imagine he's gonna get alot of business very soon. Shops by me don't have nearly the quality titles he has. Usually a bunch of the same stuff you see everywhere and overpriced.
You are the gold standard of how people should be. Keep rocking brother!
Thank you!

I saw you at a comic show! Didnt know you were a short king! So that's why you love Nightcrawler, because his nickname is elf!
Another fantastic video and and great find. So jealous!!
I will be stopping at the shop. I saw a few DC Action Comics I want in this vid and as a comic artist, I think I'll see what his framing prices are.
Again...sooooooooooo jealous of all of the stores you have available to you! Great content Mike. 👍
They''re everywhere in the New England Area
@@User8vfjhejf I'm in Florida and it's sparse.
it has been unbelievable 🤯🤯🤯
Love your videos brother, thank you for the great content and being both a scholar and a gentleman :-)
Why thank you very much!
WHAT! Another great copy of Amazing Spider-Man #50. Wish I lived closer. Phoenix, Arizona is too far away 😢
fantastic haul and cool place 💯👍
