I cringed when he handled that $10,000 ET game, bending the shit out of the packaging when removing the cart.... nice collection though, I'd be a nervous wreck owning that much rare stuff.
Was just about to also comment on this lol. The way he opened that box was shocking. It was like he was ripping into a big mac. Definitely made me cringe. The guy collecting the games would know way more than this "expert" collector but like with any reality TV they have to play along.
I was actually in a separate part of the house with one of the producers while he was filming his parts and doing his valuations----but it's okay, the box he was handling was a reproduction box anyways so no worries!
Syd owns extra terrestrials. Let me shove my fat fingers into the perfect packaging potentially tearing it in half and show you the game I just told you was pristine and IN THE BOX. Asshat.
+Mrthesamster BUT WAIT, we can give you $31.84 in store credit which you can use towards buying a used copy of a game that we put our super awesome stickers on and are selling for $54.99 after giving the person that brought it in $22.50 in store credit. $$$ GAMESTOP $$$
You can get smoke alarms that alert your phone anywhere in the world now as long as you're connected to a wifi it then trips the security cam to live stream or it can record movement from when an intruder breaks in. If you have OCD then it's gonna help you. Maybe get a dog and some 120 min fire protection doors also.
+chrishansen00 EVERYONE seems to beat this guy up on the Virtual Boy pricing. It's true--he valued it too high, but did so on research for when the units were going for a lot more, and he based it on the inventory listing that shows I have 2 new ones. There was a time when a new one was fetching $500, but after a large warehouse full of them was discovered, the prices plummeted. So yes, that price is wrong. I gave him an inventory list with over 15,000 items on it --- bound to be low on some and high on others. Big deal!
+Syd Bolton Your collection gains incredible value by virtue of the time you spent collecting and organizing all of it. I can't imagine why you would ever want to piece it out to sell it or why you'd ever want to sell it in the first place.
+mastrtonberry2 I have never once said I'm selling it. I am a historian and game collector and have been so for over 25 years! This show was simply for entertainment. No idea where you got the idea I'm selling. Video game history is too important to me personally. Having my collection intact for the future ? That I'm working on. But not selling.
So he goes to a collector who know the most about something. Then tells them what they have & the values. He appraises people who are better appraisers?!
At one point in time, before the discovery of a bunch of Virtual Boys new in a warehouse, this price was NOT unheard of --not at all. Prices of things fluctuate all the time, based on availability and demand.
I respect your dedication to collecting and the collection itself on a massive scale. It truly inspires me to keep collecting myself. so, please understand that I mean no disrespect. But, I've been selling retro/vintage/collectible games for 15 years now and I'm very familiar with supply and demand as well as the ever fluctuating prices of collectible games and consoles. I've never priced one that high. Even boxed. Just seemed to me that he was pretty high on that. Especially since he was holding up a lose console. (though it seemed high to me even if it were boxed) As I recall, the warehouse find (2007 or 08?) was only around 100 consoles, right? Thanks for responding. I do love open dialogue with other collectors (especially someone with such an awesome collection.)
Syd Bolton Video game price charts would like to have a word with you about that. The price has peaked above $500... new. The VB in the video is most definitely not. This inaccuracy is akin to the Storage Wars "NES-001" nonsense from a few years back. videogames.pricecharting.com/game/virtual-boy/virtual-boy# I would be more interested to see a real appraisal via videogamepricecharts, a site with real, sound data as opposed to this guy and his team. If they can't get all of the featured items priced properly (and I'm sure if you offered Extra Terrestrials to Wonder007, he'd give you way more than $10k), I'd hate to see how they priced everything else.
portnoyd Though I think that guy overstated the value of his Virtual Boy, I'd think (with the small glance we got) he undervalued the full collection. What do you think?
***** $750k is really difficult to hit. I would lean heavily towards some fluffing on the part of the producers to get this value. Even at an average of $10/title, that puts Syd's collection at $150k from games alone. While yes, there are several thousand dollar titles, there are many more worth no more than $5. Even at an average of $20 per title, that still leaves $350k to be made up in systems, accessories and memorabilia, which is unrealistic. To put it in more perspective, the average loose NES title according to VGPC is $16/game. If Syd has a full set, that's $12,000. Let's say he has everything complete. We'll be generous and multiply that times 5. That's $60,000. That's still not 10% of the value stated here. Being as NES has the most value, pound for pound, any other system set is going to drop off from there. It also doesn't help that classic computer collecting is still in its infancy compared to videogame collecting. I don't know what percentage of titles in Syd's collection are computer titles, however whatever amount there is would definitely drag down the per piece average.
And that's not what those words mean. It's a fact that collecting a house full of items, costing 200k is, by definition, an obsession. However, it might not be a bad thing. Obession can be a good thing.
chicks watchin this be like "what a nerd he collects video games" and 650,000 dollars later "oh i never saw how attractive he is and video games are so sexy"
Well I'm a girl and honestly that thought never crossed my mind. I'm a game collector myself so my thoughts were, "ok let me see his collection" and "omg you sir are awesome!" So don't judge "chicks" by their covers, we might just surprise you :P
Right?! Like what was even the point of taking it out of the box?! Between that action right there and his $500 appraisal of the Virtual Boy, I don't know that I would feel very comfortable with this guy in my game room...
Somehow if you don't actually know videogames that well and randomly appraise it like this dude no way will I believe it. It feels he just threw in a random number there after scanning over some crap.
I'm pretty sure that he knows as much the value of video games as much as the average person knows the value of donkey in Somalia. This jackass is so clueless that he called a Virtual Boy a "game"!
"Extra Terrestrials, one of only 4 known to exist" *Proceeds to absolutely brutally manhandle the box like an ogre rummaging through a box of Oreo cookies*
Holy mother of all video games!! O_O That is an outrageously crazy and awesome collection!!! I could be there for months playing game per game just to experience the different eras of gaming.
I am a huge game collector my self, but I am not near the size of this collection. Pretty cool to see some of the other collections out there on the internet.
Just stopping by after uploading my collection for a friend. It looks like a game rental store (slash) museum (slash) heaven! The only thing about a collection that big is how can you have time to actually enjoy all of them? I have about 350 mint CIB games and because I largely collect RPGs of course I couldn't really own more than maybe 500+ games. I do love that your games are complete in box. Especially like the N64 and SNES sections you got there.
how these games still running untill now ? like the atary and sega and nintendo, my ps3 i have it from 2010 and now no longer work i must try more then 15 time to make it run, how do your games still working until now?
How many complete collections do you have though? Do you have Stadium Events? How many games do you have complete-in-box? Which system/company do you prefer to collect for?
+ninman58 have MANY completes. For example, Nintendo 64 complete in Box. Dreamcast Complete. Xbox complete. PlayStation 2 complete. GameCube complete. Virtual Boy (boxed) complete, etc etc.
Is the game worth $500 dollars or the virtual boy? I just bought my virtual boy for $250 with 6 games... And there is not a game out there worth $500 dollars in any condition!
You are FAR from being a Hoarder. Hoarders pile everything EVERYWHERE....i see nothing but, organization and respect for everything you own.!! Amazing!!
Before I start, that is an amazing collection. I'd love to go deep and see what you really have. As an avid video game collector myself (not NEAR what you have Syd) I have a general idea of how much each game is worth (roughly) in my collection. If my collection even gets to close to a quarter of the amount of games/systems you have, I would appraise the whole thing myself and keep a running tally on everything. I would not trust someone (especially this guy) to appraise my collection. A virtual boy is not worth $500. Seems like you have more games than the world record too and that just sold for $750k. If you have 4000 more games, yours might be worth over a million.
Man, he really didn't handle that Extraterrestrial game with care at all. Also, if I had a $10,000 game that was one of 4 known to exist I'd have that thing under glass in a protective case, maybe one of those rated ones.
Going thru the comments of this video and I am amazed at how many negitive comments there are. I guess haters are going to hate when you have a collection this size.
So... this one guy who doesn't seem to know much about video games walks around this collection of 15,000 games with a pen and pad, and off the top of his head comes up with an accurate figure of what it's all worth... riiiggghhhhhht
Right, but what you DON'T know is that I provided the producers a complete list of my collection TWO MONTHS before the shoot was even done. While it's true the "pen and pad" part is mostly for show -- it was also verification about the claims I made on paper. The research component of the value was done for several weeks BEFORE they showed up.
lastfog I have over 15,000 Nudie Mags in all different shapes and sizes! I want that dipshit Apraiser to come to my house and appraise! "See this January '89 Swank here is worth ....Easy $500" I am starting to like this fruitcake!
So this video is like 2 years old almost. Prices of alot of this games went up. My guess it around 750k now at least. Heck certain PS2 games doubled in last 2 years.
I am no collector. I like digital gaming as much as possible, but like him I live to play video games. If it's something you love and may be even passionate about it like I am, then you should keep doing it. Some people always act like video games are evil and that's because they think fun is evil. They also don't realize that video games are a discipline and an artform when you try to get better at a game.
It kind of bothers me that the collector did not already have a full inventory spreadsheet of what he had, and just cross referenced everything with market value. (Almost Every Game hase a UPC) The way that guy game to the that value was he did a general count, say like average price of Xbox 360 game is like $20 x 100 or whatever than added it all up. That is not a real accurate method, Also it is not likely factored in to the $200K investment the time the collector puts in hunting the games down, shopping for them at stores and online and driving to those locations. Regardless, awesome collection!
I provided them a complete list of what I had before they came - the evaluation and research was done far before any shooting was done - the effect of walking around is for "TV" only but the value is real and the process was real.
As a collector I cringe where the host grabs the 10,000$ copy of terrestrial. This was in excellent condition until the bend he produced pulling it off the shelf in the non skilled manner and the bend the host made when he opens the box to obtain the cartridge to show the camera.
Even after he did that it was still in the same condition. And yes he could've done some damage to it in that way, but that was not the case. If it was my collection I would've opened the particular item myself.
You should be in the Guinness World Records for having the biggest Videogame collection.A man in New York is in it for having 10,607 games and you clearly have more than him.
I actually know Michael very well -- I *do* actually have more games than him, but Guinness ONLY recognizes console games NOT PC games (crazy) -- so while Michael has more CONSOLE games, I have more overall. Just how it is! Eventually that will be changed I would think.
Syd Bolton Video game-a game played by electronically manipulating images produced by a computer program on a television screen or other display screen. So by definition you should be in the world book of records and not him.
xDragonWarrior But the man in New York is Jewish and has connections all the way to the top of the illuminati game community sub division. So Syd has no chance.....hey wait. a minute!!!!!!????!!!!!
Luigifreakout123 I hope to see you guys soon, I with throw in a little Beach boys and have some brewskis on ice and a good stag film on the TV, stop by anytime guys!
I love this guy's collection! One thing that was odd though was how they went "Donkey Kong ohhhhhhh". I mean... Donkey Kong was a great game..... but not on the Atari lmao.... the Atari version blew chunks. The arcade version and the Nintendo version (you know... the company that MADE the game.... cough cough Shigeru Miyamoto) were the real versions. Other than that though omg his game rooms were sick. I loved this video!
Gamestop will be out of business after the newer generations go digital. They can't compete with collector's or resellers that know more about the values. haha
lol people call you a hoarder? Hoarders just keep random garbage, you are a collector with a collection worth almost a million dollars, there is a huge difference.
Syd Bolton??? Did you sell of part of your collection, I thought it was confirmed that you had the largest video game collection in Canada. Some guy just got the world record with about 11,000 games. I am so confused?
There are several people with Collections bigger than the 11,000 record holders. In order to get the world record of something the Guinness people have to come and do a count. A lot of people don't want people to know what they have. (people trying to steal from them, beg for stuff, trying to get them to sell rare stuff)
I have 15,000 videogames--more than the record holder...but Guinness does not consider PC games as "videogames", therefore, Michael T. has more console games and therefore holds the record. May seem confusing, but that's how it is - and as was pointed out, several people have larger collections this just don't have them recognized. It's a lot of work to do so!
Just the amount of time to go thru and document everything all in one day for the count would be a crazy. I move pretty frequently and I have all my games documented online and it normally takes me a few hours just to verify all my games once the moving company drops it off. My collection is just a little over 2400. So with a collection of 15000 I could imagine that being a nightmare
On a side note, do you ever plan on doing a personal video of your collection? I have been checking for a while now and I only come across the few you have from you being featured on tv shows.
that's awesome man... just subbed! Saw you on Nintendo Quest! I was in it as well.. My name is Brent Dolan! i gave ya a thumbs up too! great stuff man. amazing collection!
he should call Guinness World Records for his collection, there this guy named Michael Thomasson who is currently holding the world records for largest games collection and he is selling it
I saw this when it aired on Spike TV or some channel like that. Wonder if this guy still has the biggest game collection in the world? People that compare modern games to retro are just plain dumb. You cannot compare the two they are two totally different beasts. If it weren't for retro games there wouldn't be any video games today!
How many console video games do you own? At present, I own 5,500+ video games and 182 consoles, not including thousands of paraphenelia, gamer swag, etc.
If his set is complete in box with all original components, paperwork, manuals, etc, then it is worth that. If not, then no, its worth about a hundred or two.
+Syd Bolton Nice collection you have there, i love how your gameroom looks so neat and clean. But i hate how this host (and lots of other regular people) call something an obsession as soon as it gets big. I don't call this an obsession, i call this love and appreciation for gaming. I am a collector of oldskool games to, but i am a small one (i don't have to much cash to spend cry cry :P ) But i love everything about it. I would really love my own cabinet (if i have the right word i mean a machine like where you play pacman on) That would be awesome.
R.I.P. Syd Bolton. You were an amazing video game collector.
RIP Syd, glad I got to meet you and still have a part of your collection to this day.
I cringed when he handled that $10,000 ET game, bending the shit out of the packaging when removing the cart....
nice collection though, I'd be a nervous wreck owning that much rare stuff.
+Matt Gill Exact comment I was going to use until I saw yours. He almost ripped the top flap, lol.
Was just about to also comment on this lol. The way he opened that box was shocking. It was like he was ripping into a big mac. Definitely made me cringe. The guy collecting the games would know way more than this "expert" collector but like with any reality TV they have to play along.
I'm surprised the owner didn't do all the handling
I was actually in a separate part of the house with one of the producers while he was filming his parts and doing his valuations----but it's okay, the box he was handling was a reproduction box anyways so no worries!
Shows you how much he knows about games when he values a reproduction 10'000$.
Syd owns extra terrestrials. Let me shove my fat fingers into the perfect packaging potentially tearing it in half and show you the game I just told you was pristine and IN THE BOX. Asshat.
SilentMott Lol
OMG XD I am dieing!
Gamestop be like: The best you can get from this is about $27.84
Ha ha!!!! so true
Mrthesamster and that's if you have a Power Up rewards card, otherwise it's $22.67!
Yea that sounds like gamestop allright 😂!
Can't wait to see the day that store goes down the shitter for good. Bunch of scumbags.
This guy probably checks the kitchen stove like 20 times before he leaves the house everyday.
Laminolgi105 Haha. You nailed my greatest fear in regards to my collection.
It's not OCD, it's the fear of losing it all.
Laminolgi105 sets all 3 of his alarms, calls every department to see their response time, etc, etc!
Jude Law LOLarious.
Jude Law Oh yeah, the struggle is REAL when you have that much money sitting in your house, just waiting for one minor screw up, lol.
"$500"

Much respect. I'm a collector myself and that's exactly how I feel as well
Syd Bolton What about girls, are they important to you? Or do ya toss them away like a common run of the mill goonies 2 cart on NES!!!!!!!
2020... and this collection is still sitting in a storage unit out in Brantford. Where are the buyers?
I love the part when he fist rape the box.
i would've sold the game for $10,000 before he touched it.
youre so right
That moron was a little rough whipping that $10,000.00 Atari game out of the box, I hope he didn't damage it
So he goes to a collector who know the most about something. Then tells them what they have & the values.
He appraises people who are better appraisers?!
NERDGASM TO THE EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEME! That is a more amazing collection than ANYTHING I've ever seen. Congratufrigginlations!
HA HA! The amazing $500 virtual boy! LOLZ!
Where did he pull that price from??

Beautiful collection, brother. A dream for every game lover. Thanks for sharing, keep up the exellent work.
i recently had my collection appraised for 2.6 billion
Awesome Collection one of the best I have ever seen
I am a huge game collector my self, but I am not near the size of this collection. Pretty cool to see some of the other collections out there on the internet.
Awesome video game collection.
Syd do a video on your updated collection, this was taken years ago now so I imagine your collection has grown. Hope you can do a new vid

Makes a lot more sense. How can someone appraise that many games and systems in such a short amount of time. Use your brains fellas.
lastfog I have over 15,000 Nudie Mags in all different shapes and sizes!
Does he have stadium events on the NES?
Think the value on these games are crazy then, go look some of these up now.
Cool... good to know.
Syd Bolton Hi Big Brother!!!! I'm your long lost little brother. I would like to come by and play some games with you.

Syd Bolton
You still won't have the record if they do change it. Jason Wilson has the crown, hands down.
xDragonWarrior But the man in New York is Jewish and has connections all the way to the top of the illuminati game community sub division. So Syd has no chance.....hey wait. a minute!!!!!!????!!!!!
500 for virtual boy if its unopened box, flawless box, and there are 2 super rare games that were never released for virtual boy which are expensive
Did they pay you to come and shoot this?
Sid you have a great collection but I am sure you know that. If we are ever up your way we would love to do a vid with you.
Luigifreakout123 I hope to see you guys soon, I with throw in a little Beach boys and have some brewskis on ice and a good stag film on the TV, stop by anytime guys!
Hey Syd, awesome collection, but what is your favorite system and video game of all time?
Nice collection but I have to ask, what is blurred out in the background in some scenes?
O.C.D. at its best ! ...jaw dropping collection !
I hope someday they release the photo of him hanging himself in the middle of the room.
Nice collection Syd, very well done to you.
gamestop will give you 20 bucks for everything
+drus more like $20 store credit! LOL
Gamestop will be out of business after the newer generations go digital. They can't compete with collector's or resellers that know more about the values. haha
they tried that shit with the xbox one and people wanted physical copies so... idk about that
It can only happen if they all do it at the same time. Sony, microsoft and nintendo. Pc is already download only for the biggest part (steam).
lol people call you a hoarder?
Amazing game collection, how did you get all these games? I also have a video game collection it is big.
Sick collection
That is AWESOME!!! Congrats!
that's awesome man... just subbed! Saw you on Nintendo Quest! I was in it as well.. My name is Brent Dolan! i gave ya a thumbs up too! great stuff man. amazing collection!
he should call Guinness World Records for his collection, there this guy named Michael Thomasson who is currently holding the world records for largest games collection and he is selling it
What happens when you move houses syd?
Amazing Collection. How many Pc Games you have?Greetings from Germany
Over 5,000 now
Nice:) you're also playing digital only games or only Retail ones(drm free)?
I play both--I get review copies of some games, but always try for physical where possible.
I saw this when it aired on Spike TV or some channel like that. Wonder if this guy still has the biggest game collection in the world? People that compare modern games to retro are just plain dumb. You cannot compare the two they are two totally different beasts. If it weren't for retro games there wouldn't be any video games today!
$500 for a virtual boy? Yeah factory sealed maybe
he takes off the seal to extra terrestrials, this game 50,000, no wait it's not sealed anymore... 10,000. The guy is crying.
The host is a dork, but I love your collection Syd. Stop by Nintendo Age sometime, if you aren't already a member.
$500 bucks for just the virtual boy lol
yeah, how about under 100 at most retro game stores. given that, I'm sure the value for everything is way over inflated.
I would cry if i got to go in that room 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
to properly appraise the game collection it would take like a month
Absolutely. The producers had the details of my collection six weeks before the cameras even arrived
ah i see
Wow Amazing job!
finally a collector who doesnt care about the money
Did that guy just appraise that unboxed virtual boy for 500? He said it in such a matter of fact way and dude just agreed with him.
+TheGoodMorty I was thinking the same thing... haha dude has no idea what he is talking about.
Fast-forward to post-pandemic prices, this is in the 1-2mil range.
How many console video games do you own? At present, I own 5,500+ video games and 182 consoles, not including thousands of paraphenelia, gamer swag, etc.
love the show
virtual boy is nowhere close to 500 bucks, did that dude just pull that number out of his ass
If his set is complete in box with all original components, paperwork, manuals, etc, then it is worth that. If not, then no, its worth about a hundred or two.
is syd collecting the xbox one, PS4 ans wii U?
+Callum Russell Syd collects for every game system
+Syd Bolton Nice collection you have there, i love how your gameroom looks so neat and clean. But i hate how this host (and lots of other regular people) call something an obsession as soon as it gets big. I don't call this an obsession, i call this love and appreciation for gaming. I am a collector of oldskool games to, but i am a small one (i don't have to much cash to spend cry cry :P ) But i love everything about it. I would really love my own cabinet (if i have the right word i mean a machine like where you play pacman on) That would be awesome.
+Syd Bolton Can we get an updated room tour Syd?
FASCINATING...JUST SIMPLY FASCINATIONG. I Love it!
Very cool Syd! Congrats!!!
