When I went a couple years back, I was blown away but quickly realized this is not a real store. You see this is a collection that just so happens to be for sale for the right price. almost everything is overpriced. I flew from California the land of high prices and was completely dumbfounded by the prices and rudeness of staff. Overall, a neat museum in a rough part of town. honestly the only place in Colorado I felt like I may get robbed in. I'm glad that it looks in better shape than when I visited (Very, very dusty), but the prices seem to be even higher!
It's just a personal hoard and museum. Worth a look, but I would never buy anything there! It's sad to see those big boy grails and keys just dying in the light and fading away over time. The staff is also notoriously rude. Seeing the ASM #122 8.0 for $1200 was laughable. I bought a 8.5 for $425, lol, ridiculous.
Been living in Colorado for 15 years now and finally went to Mile High Comics yesterday! It was amazing! We needed more time to explore! Chuck came in at the tail end of the day and asked if we needed any help. They definitely keep an eye on you while in the store but that's understandable. With many $200+ comics on the shelf, long boxes and pull-out bins. Their staff seemed nice and the guy at the counter showed me an upcoming auction with a few Venom comics that were up for grabs (he noticed the Venom shirt I was wearing). All the yellow tag books (which is a lot of them) were 60% off. I picked up a VF - Doctor Strange Vol 2 #79, a book I had been wanting for my collection and to read. The one when Doctor Strange is wounded and his astral form possesses Morgana Blessing and she becomes the female Doctor Strange. The surrounding area of the store is a little rough and could use some landscaping and a new fence. The inside of the store is fairly well maintained for such a huge space. Could use some polish and modern upgrades and perhaps paint. It was great to see many kids and teenagers even up to the closing moments of the store getting last minute purchases. I watched a couple young adults sift through a pull-out bin, purchase the comics they were searching for, then immediately go to their car and start reading through in the parking lot. Was great to see. For anyone that says physical comics are dieing because of digital, I think our younger generations have something to say about that. Overall, an awesome experience, would recommend!
Never been to Mile High, but I used to order comics from them back in the early 2000s, and even then, I thought some of their inventory was very overpriced. Now I feel everything there is just ridiculously overpriced. However, I would still enjoy and appreciate visiting just to see the place for myself. Thank you ever so much for this video, Bueller! Your bus tour of the nation's comic shops certainly would not have been complete without it.
Wow just wow what a amazing comic book store, i Just went to my first comic book store yesterday at 17 years old after years of buying comics in grocery stores and having subscribtions as a kid and i went out with 15 books, half youngblood comics and the other half bloodstrike comics. I just got back into comics and now i am starting a collection and i just wish that i would have these kind of comic book stores near me. The nearest comic book store that i have is about 1 and a half hour away.
It's awesome to live just down the street from this place. I've grown up with mile high comics in my back yard my whole life. I just wanted to say that the area with all the chairs by the clothing racks is where chuck has a monthly auction for comics and that is the best time to get good deals. I got an ASM 300 for $300, they originally had it marked for $1500. It is a great place to visit if ever in Denver and your a fan but watch your wallet and don't be afraid to barter and bargain, worst they say is no.
Thanks Bueller and Bob for doing this tour. That’s definitely a very large comic shop right there! 😀 It’s so odd that the owner doesn’t want to sell his comics, which is likely why they are priced higher. But hey, it’s his shop, so he can do with it as he pleases.
Great video dude, nice teamup with Bullseye Bob 👍 I actually used to shop at mile high's website, about 10 or 15 years ago. They did the 40-50% off back issue sales, and the prices were reasonable. They'd often have different price ranges available depending on the raw grade of the books, and various grades of each book often in stock. I actually bought the entire run of the Punisher magazines that reprinted his stories with those awesome covers....and I paid a couple dollars per issue. Fast forward to 2023, that ship has sailed. But what a piece of comic book history, just walking around in there I can imagine the stories and experiences of all the people who those books have passed hands through....amazing. I wish I had the foresight as a child to put in some orders from those mile high comic inserts, I think we all do.
I have to thank you big time for this tour man, mile high comics is a legend among comic book dudes the world over,im in scotland and now at 60 and unfit to work anymore im never going to get there! So this is appreciated big time, again thank you,and what a place ?all the geeky stuff i love. All in one humongous shop ?! Plus some great posters ,att prints and original art too ? The 1-1 figs scattered throughout are sweet also,
Yea, I almost shat when I saw that price. Dudes definitely a hoarder if he thinks he can’t re-acquire an FF 48 in VG condition. Super common book that can be purchased for around 1k in grade.
Incredible store! I wish I had taken the time to visit when I was on vacation a couple of years ago. I probably couldn't afford anything, but it would be fun to visit, lol.
@ Bueller and Bob! Thanks for the tour and commentary from both! Hey! I was that kid in the 70's that used the add in Marvel Comics books of the day from Mile High, and ordered the comics I NEEDED to know what happened between the gaps from stuff on spin racks. 61 years old, so from your generation and appreciate the POVs!
Hey Bueller, great tour video of a true comic book museum. I ordered from those full page yellow ads in Marvel comics, bought quite a few early Daredevil books that I wish I still had. My LCS is approximately 500 square feet and has more customers inside than Mile High, but that is not the point of Mile High. Great to hear Bob with you on the commentary!
The ol mile high catalog in comics, in the 90s. I bought a lot from those catalogs. I hope someday to make the journey to Mile High... and meet Chuck. Maybe avoid some high prices... but there's a lot of books with decent prices. Great video 📹
Wow! Mile High Comics has gotta be the single most complete, extensive & awesome comic shop on the planet! It's as much a museum as it is a comic shop & probably more so! I could ask what all do they have, but the better question 2 ask would be what didn't they have! A literal comic book paradise! In the words of the late great Stan Lee, "Excelsior!" & "Nuff Said!" Thank you so very much Travis & Bob 4 the video tour! Your Comic Book Brother, Garrett L. Manring Jr.
Definitely on my bucket list. I ordered a few books from Mile High back in the early 80's when I was an avid young comic book collector. This place looks absolutely amazing, thanks for sharing this amazing video.
I've ordered online from them before. Mile High Comics is a trip to heaven. What would happen to your hands, if you had to put fresh bags on all those comics?!?
I bought from there few times since I found out there web site does not accept PayPal I buy from them on eBay miss your videos glad your still making them
I have never been there but used to buy comics all the time from their sales back in the 80's. I got one copy of Giant size Spiderman #5 with certificate and in mylar from them and have always treasured it.
I just was there last weekend. It was 50% all the yellow sticker comics. They don’t tell you that when you walk in so I was about to leave but then I was told it was 50% and I ended up spending $700 lol
Looks like there in the business of keeping allot of stuff and not selling so much. But that is there choice. I won’t waste my time going there. Thanks for the info in the video.
Great video ! Would love to visit someday I seen you pass a 1st DeadPool appearance ( The New Mutants) I actually own one of those and remember buying it out of my Local Comic Shop when i was younger
People reach a certain level of business success in their life where they can define their ideal client and forget the rest. You tell the client you will sell on these parameters or not at all and if they do not like it they can go elsewhere. Nothing wrong with that. After being in business for decades you learn which consumers cause a lot of grief and complain with sucking up time and aggravation and which are easy to deal with.
Went to Mile High 2 years ago. The front display books are really priced not to sell so its more if a museum type of display. It's really cool to see some grails tho. I bought some spawn books to fill in gaps in my PC but overall the amount of books is overwhelming.
Kind of like a mini dealers room at a comics convention, but no bargain tables! Being in a store where you can’t afford to buy anything is more like a visit to a museum. I think it must feel a little frustrating for avid collectors.
I worked at MHC nearly 10 years ago. Really cool to see everything that was in there, and the people I worked with on the floor were great. Not much else positive to say about the place.
A lot of people complaining about the high prices but it's a brilliant business model, show people what they will never see elsewhere and make your money selling off the chaff and tchotchkes.
Yes, I was like wth with the comic prices. He had comics that I have in way better condition, and I was like I'll sell you mine for cheaper prices he had on the comics there. I don't see how he even makes money and able to be open. I was there I think February.
Haven't collected comics since 2003. It almost makes me feel ill seeing how much some of them are worth especially if i had them and ex wife took them all.
I have a feeling that when he passes away whoever inherits the collection will drop those prices. I don't imagine they'll feel the same way about it as he does. Unless he has it all donated to the Library of Congress or something.
And the "big" comics you guys saw are called treasury editions. I have practically every one of marvel and DC that they put out in the 70s they're awesome. Most of them are in good to vg conditiontrust me and trust me I did NOT pay the ridiculous prices mile high had them going for lol
lol, right away, the Silver Surfer #1 is way out of whack. A CGC 9.4 is worth $1,500 not some low grade restored one. The raw Hulk 181, depending on the grade (MVS intact) may or may not be worth that. The raw X-men #1, JIM #83 and TOS #39 are over priced by a mile, the TOS #39 if it is indeed a VF may be a bit on the pricey side, but looks within reason. The DD #1 is way over-priced as well as the VG copy of FF#1
Wow that mister fantastic at $75 bucks and it's not even cgc, a 9.8 goes for $45 awesome store though. I bet the work there is so backed up to constantly price everything according to market value it would take years
My impression is Chuck (the owner) is more old school. Not a huge fan of grading. Remember he’s been around a lot longer then these random grading companies.
Those prices all seemed kind of stupid high. Even the old treasury editions... The prices all looked to be triple of what they should be. It's nice to see the books, but I doubt I would buy anything there. All of those high priced books, most of them weren't even slabbed. CGCing a book kind of verifies its authenticity. For those prices I would want them CGCed.
Sorry boys, don't dangle that carrot in front of my face and have me walking 10 miles without a nibble...The store looks GREAT but waaaay out of my price range...I believe I saw a 6 figure book and it wasn't even graded, I would never be able to move any of those books and see a profit...probably gonna end up losing money. That store is nothing but window shopping for me, I love your videos...but as far as Mile High Comics, I'll stick with online shopping...way better deals.
I guarantee the toy prices are high as fu** too.even the single figures not in original packaging that you can find at a damn flea market i'm sure are outrageous lol
The prices in that first cabinet are waaaaaaaay too high for those grades. Those look more like NM- prices or better (except for maybe the Hulk #181). Feels more like those are intended to be sold, but if you want to buy the books, then you'll have to reach way too high to take the books away from them.
Well, this is Bob in Connecticut. Yes, it looks like these books are definitely over priced.. a few years ago I picked up amazing fantasy 15 in New York 6.0 I only paid $4000 I was offered from a comic book store recently $100,000. Yes I know the market value was only $80,000 but I’m not selling the book I’m going to die with this and probably my Superman. 1 5.0 moderate professional restoration, no trimming. I don’t think I will sell this either..
Good morning this is Bob in Connecticut again yes I was in the business many years but when you don’t have any income obviously you have to try to sell. Yes most of their books are way way over priced.. just looking at this video. I was laughing hysterically because any comic book collector knows approximately what the value of the book is. Except for what is stored you are not sure what you are going to get.. I mean I have amazing fantasy 15 8.0 we stored no trimming. I would say that somewhere in the $20-$30,000 range I bought that many years ago from the Comics buyers guide newspaper as raw. I only paid $450.. I have a regular copy 6.0. I do have Superman. 1 I bought that RAW The seller told me it was restored. I bought that for $12,500.. it came back 5.0 moderate professional restoration, no trimming. Of course it’s worth lots of money anyway..
Not ever comic collector pays attention to the value of their comics. I’m a collector and a very well known one at that and I honestly haven’t checked the value of my books for years. I just like comics, the dollar value just isn’t that important.
Bueller I got to go to MH frequently when I lived in Denver (once a month). Just to see their new inventory. Overly priced. Sure they have good books, but 3-4X FMV. Even their bin books are not worth searching through, insanely priced.
@@ComicswithBueller that said, I actually bought some amazing books cheap at Mile High. They have a 50% off sale on bin and wall books a couple times a year, if you know what market value is for some books and know what you are searching for you can get deals.
Anybody out there remember back in the day mile high would give you those huge mile-high dollars that you could spend on their books.? I came across some from the 80s a while back. So nostalgic
Mile High Comics, where the prices match the business name, lol
Some books are priced high so they stay in collection. Not everything is for sale .
It’s more of just a flex. They have the books priced to show value but they don’t really wish to sell
eBay is same way with some sellers you do make point
They have to fund their next generation, looks like the Edgar Church collection funds they robbed running low
😆

In the very first 3 or 4 rows there was a RAW, Star Wars #1 priced over $1500 VG condition ???? That's like a $1200 mark up, currently. lol

Everything in that store is Overpriced. It’s a miracle they stay in business.

MIght be that blue meth out the side door. Do they even have dollar bins? Or marked 5$ or 10$ bins.?
@@dc7468 did you watch to the end ? We showed there value bins if you want to call it that.
Its definitely just making enough to stay open. Could be a drug front or maybe Rozanski owns a dispensary thats hedging the operating costs.

Those are crazy prices for those books. Why is it so upsetting to see a comic shop try and rip off people? Because they made a business out of it.
Dang these prices is outrageous. I’d rather pay my mortgage than having a comic book in the slab and sitting in a safe.

That store is nothing but window shopping for me, I love your videos...but as far as Mile High Comics, I'll stick with online shopping...way better deals.
I agree with you, we mentioned the pricing in the video a few times. Did you miss those parts?
@@ComicswithBueller no, no...I heard it loud and clear, can still be in shock though.
@@bigbabysld trust me I was too, lol
Are the toys a mile high in price also? Any transformers toys?
Yeah they have transformers, as far as the prices I couldn’t really tell you if they are high. I don’t really know the value of the toy market
I guarantee the toy prices are high as fu** too.even the single figures not in original packaging that you can find at a damn flea market i'm sure are outrageous lol
Where most Comic book shops have a Dollar bin, Mile High has a Three dollar bin.
$3.95 bin, lol
Were is the store located?
this is in Denver
If you're as rich as Bruce Wayne you can buy anything you want in this store
Yeah a lot of the books here were super expensive. I bought like 3 comics and they were super high. But everything in yellow tags are half price tho
If u buy these do u get the CGC mile high pedigree
1:08 FF 48 in vg condition for $10,800 !? What the heck?
Yeah I noticed that. We hit on the prices quite a few times during the commentary.
@@ComicswithBueller that said, I actually bought some amazing books cheap at Mile High. They have a 50% off sale on bin and wall books a couple times a year, if you know what market value is for some books and know what you are searching for you can get deals.
Great video! 🔥
If you like to pay more this is your store LOL
Anybody out there remember back in the day mile high would give you those huge mile-high dollars that you could spend on their books.? I came across some from the 80s a while back. So nostalgic
Mile High Museum
What's the cheapest comic they got sir?
$3 is the lowest I saw
And the most expensive comic store.
A 9.6 first Harley Quinn selling for 3k at Mile High 😂😂😂.
$70 for a brand new non-graded comic that you could get for $10 bucks. No wonder you hardly see anyone in that place.
