In Japan next week, I'm getting a 61T TT02 hop up gear an 25, 27, 29, 31, 33 and 35 motor gear. I will also pick up some cheap hop ups, motors and tamiya program servo has 5 settings.
@rctamiyaaddict4687 thanks, don't worry its not my first time there. The rc cars amd parts are way cheaper and duty free so now it summer I will travel liht and come home heavy 😅
I use a 1080 hobbywing standard Tamiya motor with standard gearing with race bearings and a 5500 120c 3s 😊 I will be upgrading to oil shocks and alloy steering next week. I have just subscribed so I will look forward to future videos.
I concur with the thought that you may have hit the limit of current that ESC can pass through it. A 80 amp esc may be in order. I'm still a fan of the low turn Radeon motors. Great video, and I'm certainly impressed that a speed run car is still keeping its great looks. I think mine was wrecked at just over 30 mph. Keep it up! Will you be entering this years poorboys speed run? Its coming up in less than 3 weeks.
That´s awesome. i tried it too. different Motor´s and gearing. now i´m using the 68T * 20T gearing, with an old school Motor. it´s a Kyosho Atom Smasher 12 Turn Motor. Rpm by 1Volt is 5200. ^^ so with 2s Lipo (8,4 Volt) it has an Idle Speed of over 40.000 RpM ^^
Awesome you got to 30mph, Bummer about the RZ motor... What esc are you using? I think most brushed Tamiya esc are rated for 23 turn motors. If your using the Hobbywing 1060 esc, your good to go down to like a 13 turn motor.. This is where gear ratios will come into play, A motor will only pull to a certain ratio then fall off or over heat, hence, why some ratios are faster with a smaller pinion, its weird....
I ended up with "Tamiya 54229 06 Mod. FF03 Pinion Gear 29T" and "Tamiya 54500 High Speed Gear Set" wtih a 64T spur . Motor is Torque Tuned and a 2S LIPO. Runs really fast...I have no way to meassure the speed.

This is great. I continue to watch with interest!
Awesome, thank you!

It's great that you hit 30mph! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do next.
Thanks. Hopefully we can squeeze some more speed out of it.

Hope to see you this year in the PB speed run. Of course driving an," Eddie Van Something " when it's announced.
It has the ESC it came with, THW-1060. Be looking forward to see what car PB RC goes with this year.
@@rctamiyaaddict4687 Awesome, the 1060 seems to be the top choice.

Have a 63T spur to try out soon
You need to polish the shaft as slipted pinion would of burred up the shaft power motor and polish shaft with emery cloth or fine file
I think you’re right. Hopeful and get it usable again.

Nice video 👌 shame about that motor 🤔
Thank you. I’ll have to see if there’s anyway to recover it
Great video. But why did you use a bigger spur gear than the stock one?
The stock is 70t, the one installed is 64t giving a better ratio
@@rctamiyaaddict4687 You're absolutely right. I got confused between tt-01 and tt-02 standard gearing specs, which are pretty different.
Hmm that shaft on your motor does not want to cooperate 🙃
Did you find out what was wrong ?
The grub screw was out. Probably the pinion damaged the shaft while it was spinning around.
