@@rthilson Unfortunately, it may be not be distributed in your area yet. If you have a liquor stop you frequent, ask the owner if he or she can special order it for you with no up charge. It's crazy how distribution works, sometimes it's very political.
The Wild Turkey family of bourbons are great. I will gladly take their stuff over most allocated bottles any day. There are so many great picks on the shelves, it really isn’t worth the hassle to chase the allocated stuff.
This is what we pay this guy for. He is out doing the work finding special treats like these. That’s right, we just watch but he is the best on RUclips.
J E you’d get weird looks lol because they aren’t even remotely close lol maybe if you had said in a blantons bottle or something that isnt wheated lol
Why? Put a Rye mashbill in a Wheated bottle! Two completely different bourbon. Maybe put Makers Mark in the Weller bottle and like someone else said WT in a Blantons bottle.
Just got my first Russell's Reserve single barrel @ $63 at ABC here in Florida. I've never spent that much money on a 750 ml bottle of bourbon being perfectly fine with Evan Williams bottle and bond 100 proof. The long finish on this Wild Turkey product makes it worth the money, I really like it.
Went back to this vid again after a few months of building my collection and taste testing. In this time of what seems like bourbon mania, going after value is for me, as a longtime bourbon fan and sipper, the way to go. The recommendations have held up very very well. Thanks mate, will continue to add these to my shelf!
This is fantastic. This is exactly where I'm at in building my bourbon collection. I can't tell you how many of these I've seen on the shelves and not given any thought to trying. Thanks for the tips!
I like the Old Granddad BIB and Four Roses Small Batch Select (available at Costco for good price). I would also include some Evan Williams brands especially the Single Barrel.
Yep, best channel on this subject! Only channels other than this one I like are the guys that do blind tastings, and scotch test dummies cause they make me 😊
I love how he explains how a whiskey tastes by comparing it to food or desserts it tastes a lot like. That's a great palate. I love whiskey but haven't drank it enough to notice so many different flavors, especially really good whiskey and never would have thought it could have so many delicious flavors. This guy has helped to learn a lot about whiskey and given me a love and passion for whiskey, liquor and alcohol in general, much more than I already had!
Jason, great topic and bottles. Like you say, so many of us get caught up in the hype and glamour of the high priced spreads, overlooking these pours. FYI, on the JDSBBP, noticed they also offer in a 375 ml if people want a smaller sampler to try out. Wish more bottlers would do that!! CHEERS!
Never bought or liked any JD product until this. It opened my eyes to high proof whiskey. The banana note is the only thing that keeps this from being a regular sipper for me. But appreciate it nonetheless!
I just started getting really into bourbon and building my collection. This video (and all of your videos) is incredibly helpful and informative. Love that I can find most of this stuff on shelves when I go into stores. Thank you, Jason!
The high proof bourbons were difficult for me to start with with but now that I've been around the block I can say/recommend them as the best. Rare breed, Woodford double oak, and knob creek are cream of the crop and impossible to beat on value and taste.
The entire Old Grandad lineup is probably one of my favorite bourbons. The friend who got me into bourbon gifted me a bottle of the regular OGD 80proof and that’s what got me down the bourbon rabbit hole. The 114 is the best value in bourbon without question!
Your videos are so well done and informative, Jason. This month will mark the 1-year anniversary of my bourbon journey and you have really helped me with my picks.
Just bought a bottle of Punchers Chance Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey and it’s one of the best I’ve tasted in a long time. Not easy to find but we’ll worth it, and not that expensive - about $35 a bottle.
Great video. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hype for certain allocated and hard to find bottles, this video shows why you shouldn’t, very useful. Loving the channel, the balance of history, tasting notes and conclusions is perfect 👌🏻
As much as I agree and I think bourbons like Blanton's are incredibly overrated, I still think it's worth it to get a bottle or try it so you have a comparison to some of these bottles
I’m exactly that, starting on my bourbon journey. I just finished the overhyped overpriced video and now this one. Really helps to filter out the bullshit and get good return on investment
I’ve been drinking bourbons for about three to four years or so. Just started really expanding my varieties in the last six months. Your channel is great. So much information and backstory and good picks. I appreciate it. I bought things that I never would have had I not watched your channel. I’ve watched several others, and there’s really only one other channel I enjoy watching beside yours. Keep up the great work.
Of all the videos I have watched in the last 6 months, I think this information is the most valuable to date! I agree 100% about all the allocated stuff people chase vs what you have provided here, especially the BTAC special allocations. Don’t get me wrong, I love BTAC, but the hype in the marketplace has caused literal hysteria with regards to pricing! Great work!
Great list!! I was kinda surprised to see Woodford Double Oaked on this list, because I work at a big chain liquor store and that is impossible to keep on the shelves. You definitely included a lot of my faves so that makes me feel like I might know what I’m doing.
Great review👍🏽 If you have issues with other podcasts or reviews, noone is forced to watch any review, just don't listen to each its own. Find what you like, no need to comment or complain about it. No negative energy needed.
I'm surprised that Evan Williams didn't make his list. Evan Williams is my go-to bourbon. At $15 a bottle is an exceptional value. I believe that it should have made it somewhere on his list.
Quite right. EW is my daily sipper...everything you want in a bourbon. But don't miss out on the Evan Williams Single Barrel. Pound for pound, one of the best whiskeys you'll ever have.
@@SpookyApparition If you haven't tried Evan Williams bottled and bond you should, at $20 a bottle it's a find. At 101 proof it's exceptionally smooth, makes excellent old fashions, or Manhattans.
@@keithkrey5996 I have 7 bottles of the Single Barrel... Each one is different from the last, they're all fantastic, and they sit proudly next to my "higher end" bourbons on the shelf!
Yes, Bell Meade was a unknown and is a great bourbon. I agree whole hardily with Jack Single Barrel, barrel proof! Knob Creek and Rare breed. I need to try long branch 😁
Doug Petty I found Bell Mead by touring their distillery in Nashville and loved them. Hard to find in NC, but I got a bottle of Reserve when a friend went there. Good stuff!
If you haven't tried it, Old Forester 100 Proof is amazing for the price. It's only $20-25 and most people are turned off by the low price plus the screw cap, but OF100 won double-gold at the SanFran Spirit Awards this year. Best value around, IMHO, and very underrated.
Agreed. These are my favorite episodes. Separating the collectors from those who simply like drinking and tasting bourbon. Love the mention of the Knob Creek and Wild Turkey varieties. Great video! Not for the "But it's so smooth!" crowd.
Ok so watched the video last night wanted to see how well you did with your recommendations. Today I picked up a bottle of knob creek 9 for 35 dollars. It is better than blanton’s at a higher proof. Usually my go to bourbon is Elijah Craig but I think knob creek 9 just replaced that.
Wilderness Trail is a home run - both the yellow label bourbon and the rye is amazing. Absolutely agree Old Grand Dad 114, Woodford Reserve Double Oak, JD Single Barrel Barrel Proof, entire WT line especially 101. I know it's not for some but I also think Makers 46 is underrated. Would like your opinion on Chestnut Farms Bottle in Bond coming out of 1792.
Maker's Mark 46 entire lineup, base 46 - 46 cask strength - fae-01, are all great at their price points... they all hit above. After trying 46 I have not looked back to Maker's Mark S-IV. Fae-02 should be on the shelf fall 2021!
Good selections. Definitely some that I have and keep on the shelf. Coopers was a recent find myself and to your point a great little bourbon. Bowman another great pick. And you can’t go wrong with the Knobb Creek. Love Knobb in an Old Fashion as well as a sipper.
I'm literally watching this as I drink the last pour of a bottle of OGD Bonded. It really is one of the best sub 20 bottles. And you're right on the mark with all the WT offerings. WT is easily my favorite whiskey vertical including all the Masters Keeps.
Wild turkey for sure! Don't know why they get a bad rep? Everything they offer is better than most bottles double their price and you can actually find it!
He knows so much of the history and how each whiskey is made. I'm 39 and only started getting into drinking really good whiskey a few years ago but plan on it for many years to come! I wish there was a school or college that would teach everything about alcohol like a culinary class, which I am going to does.
I bought that as a house warming gift for friends of mine. They bought an estate home, that was called “Wild Turkey Ridge.” I picked it based on the bottle presentation as I was not a bourbon drinker then. Now that I am, I really like it. Has a smokey taste, but is still really drinkable.
It’s my favorite single barrel under 60 for sure. I’ll never forget my first bottle. I bought it on a whim and it knocked my socks off. It had this subtle, dusty, slight apple tart, kinda chalky note to it, I haven’t had a bottle with the same exact note since but every single one has been great in its own way
You hit on so many of my favorites. I hate Jack Black but the Single Barrel Barrel Proof gives me total life. Belle Meade is a favorite and I love working around the corner from the distillery.
Being a Virginia boy, John J Bowman is one of my daily drinkers. Love the stuff. So glad you like it. Funny thing is, I was thinking about sending you a bottle to try. Ha! Guess you don't need it.
Still holds up strong after 4 years! 😊 Belle Meade is now Nelson Brothers and jumped in price, but others still hammers. Glad you put both Rare Breed and RB Rye on the lineup-RB is my go-to and the rye is really something special. Bowman is my hometown distillery (Fredericksburg, VA) and I’ve always loved it. They also make a couple fantastic gins available at the distillery and online called Tinkermans and an absolute bomber of a bourbon cream called Mary Hite Bowman-with caramel! Dangerous stuff… 😅
Always can rely on solid advice from Jason C… keep up the great work… you hit my favorites - woodford double oak, Russell’s 10 year reserve, wild turkey 101…the dude knows his bourbon.
You listed some of my all-time favorites! Big fan of OGD, Big fan of Four Roses, and my regular store knows to keep EVERY Wild Turkey stocked for me. Great video, and great choices!
If you ever get the chance to go to either (or both) the Barton’s distillery and/or the Four Roses distillery, do it. Four Roses’ visitor center is incredible, and Barton’s distillery is like a mini Buffalo Trace.
Thanks for another great vid Jason! I tried the Cooper's Craft on your recommendation from one of your best values vids, and it's become one of my favorite everyday sippers! Good stuff!
Great video, especially for folks in control states. I love the JDSBBP pick, it really is amazing and is my go to when ECBP and Stagg Jr. are hard to come by (especially the latter). Thanks for the great content!
Your ain't just whistling dixie brother. My kids are 27&29 and both here because of WILD TURKEY 101🤣 101 and Rare Breed is always on my shelf and so is Jack barrel proof. Pure deliciousness😁
Nice to see you presented a number of my favorites! I always try and have bottles of OG 114, Four Roses Small Batch Select, and Woodford Double Oaked. Have a nice Remus barrel pick on hand currently. I'll definitely be trying some of the others you presented! I wasn't initially impressed with Wilderness Trail when it launched, so the added time might be what it needed. Met the master distiller before launch and was impressed with his philosophy. I'll give it another try.
I was eating some Chocolate Chex cereal yesterday, and I realized that was a note that I had always gotten from Woodford Double Oaked that I never could place.
You turned me on to Old Grand Dad Bonded and I can safely say it’s the most underrated bourbon I’ve ever had. It’s better than many bourbons that are in higher price brackets.
Love the spirit of this video brother. This year I feel like I graduated from a noob looking for those rare bottles to someone more experienced Who knows how to find a good $20 bottled in bond that drinks just as good 👍
I love videos like this one as well. Bourbon to me, is something that I sit down and relax with. I’m not trying to impress anyone. So really good inexpensive bourbons will allow me to expand my collection more easily. Wild Turkey 101, Evan Williams Bottled In Bond and Old Forrester 92 are examples of these types. I love OGD 114 as a mixer. Haven’t tried Woodford Double Oaked, but I really want to..Thank you for all of you great content.
Wild Turkey is always reliable. Also glad to see some love for 1792, even though it's hard to find anything other than the small batch here. I actually had a friend try a few barrel proofers in a blind flight. His ranking was 1792>ECBP>Booker's>Old Ezra
Great review as always! I picked up a 1792 barrel proof store pick tonight...good stuff! Also a big fan of the Russell's Reserve and Rare Breed. Glad to see you spread the word that enjoying bourbon doesn't mean selling a kidney to afford it! 😎
Great List! Already have a few on my shelf but looking forward to adding new ones. Almost bought Remus the other day now I'm regretting not getting it. Spot on with the Jack Daniels. One whiskey that is still young and I think underrated is New Riff...great stuff!
Hi Jason, love all of your videos. You are right to include Jack Daniels in this line up. It is absolutely amazing and legally it Technically IS bourbon! as it meets the 6 criteria to be a Bourbon. The relationship to Jack and Bourbon in general is much like that of Tequila and Mezcal. That is, not all Mezcals are Tequila, but all Tequilas are Mezcals. Here, not all Bourbons are Tennessee whiskeys (like Jack), but Jack Daniels (a Tennessee whiskey) happens to be a bourbon. Salute e sempre avanti.
My go to whiskeys have become my stay with whiskeys and I am in a rut, so it is time to go exploring. Lots of good ideas, but I am having trouble believing that anything drinkable is coming from Jack Daniel's. George Dickel, yes; Jack, no. Thanks for another excellent video!
thanks to your videos I tried my first bottle of 1792... I started out neat but eventually added a few cubes... I have always preferred a few cubes in my sipping burboun. 1792 was a pleasant experience but didn't hold up on the rocks as well as some of my other favs... specifically 101, Woodford and Jack... however, I wouldn't rule it out as a competent competitor...
I love Russell’s and Rare Breed. I have paid top dollar for Master’s Keep too, but 101 shocked the hell out of me in a blind tasting. Hard to beat for $20-$25. Old Grandad was the same thing. If it’s cold where you live…throw some Old Grandad 114 in some mulled hot cider. Soooo nice!
Great job and I agree with most your comments. I just finished a bottle of Coopers recent with my wife and have moved on to a bottle of Russels 10 year. Both delicious for the price. I had to buy a bottle of horsey Blantons when we were at the Buffalo Trace distillery as they dumped it that day and it was available. We will see what we like better.
Love this video. I have not had all of these, but the ones I have, I would agree. Great Bourbon, descent prices and should be on everyone's shelf. Cheers!
Perfect list. I 2nd! When I couldn't find Eagle Rare is when i discovered knob creek- wow! And rare breed- up to 12yr old bourbon for 45ish bucks, c'mon! 1792is considered rare in my neck of the woods in ID. Haven't tried Belle Meade or Remus but now they're definitely on my list to try. Thanks!
I have bought a few of these for less than MSRP, but can not find Coopers Craft in Colorado! I Haven't seen Bowman either. While I haven't tasted all of these mentioned, my comment on WT Rare Breed is that when I opened it, it fell flat, but half way through the bottle. it suddenly opened up into a world of wonderful!
Tons of info for a new whiskey drinker! I was looking for George Remis and it was 40-45 everywhere. Walked into the local Sam’s club clearance for 15.71! Bought the last four they had😃
100% agree with JD barrel proof being overlooked, and better keep it that way! Only wish we saw it more often on the LCBO shelves in Ontario. Luckily Rare Breed & Knob Creek are readily available.
All good stuff I will be grabbing a jack single tomorrow as I know where to get it. I would say Woodinville bourbon belongs on this list. Super good would love to see you review this one.

I really need to try the Russell's single barrel. I keep buying the 10 year because its so good for the price. Thanks for the awesome video Jason.
It’s my favorite single barrel under 60 for sure. I’ll never forget my first bottle. I bought it on a whim and it knocked my socks off. It had this subtle, dusty, slight apple tart, kinda chalky note to it, I haven’t had a bottle with the same exact note since but every single one has been great in its own way
I've been disappointed with two RR SiB, one was even a store pick. Never tried the 10 year, but everyone says it very good.
NAILED this one. Got a bottle today and just had a few sips.. Way different than regular JD. Thanks again for this one.
Great list! I have had most of this list and I 100% agree with you that they will stand up to the more expensive stuff.
Good stuff!
Love that you're doing non-snob reviews, bless you brother!
I really appreciate your time spent on pointing out these fine bourbons.
A+ list Jason! Everyone can now stop crying about not finding allocated bourbons. Cheers brother!
Great video, especially for folks in control states. I love the JDSBBP pick, it really is amazing and is my go to when ECBP and Stagg Jr. are hard to come by (especially the latter). Thanks for the great content!
Love your reviews on these Bourbon's. Looks like I'm going Bourbon shopping today! Drums and Bourbon! Doesn't get much better than that!
Awesome list Jay!!!
I've been eyeing that Woodford double oaked for some time now. And you helped me make my decision. Going now😂😂
Thanks Jay!!!
Rare Breed is a sleeper !! "smooth" because idk anything about notes and taste but that vanilla caramel at the start is AMAZING
Wild Turkey and Russell’s have the most solid product line in my opinion. I’m glad that you gave them some love here.
I was eating some Chocolate Chex cereal yesterday, and I realized that was a note that I had always gotten from Woodford Double Oaked that I never could place.
There ya go! Thats a great note!
Thanks, having tried several of the WT 101 & Russels Reserve 10 year I agree that they are good values.
My daily has been Noble Oak, really delicious stuff easy to find and cheap👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
It's around 35 Bones it's good I've gone through 2 Bottles with some great Cigars
I love including Jack Daniels on the list and the respect for Wild Turkey
Jason, just bought the Cooper’s Craft in UA. It is delicious. Thx for the heads up.
Good quick summation of great value bourbons. Thanks
Nice job. Appreciate your input and experience. For us novices this in vital info for our journey. Again...Thank You.
YES! THAT JACK SINGLE BARREL BARREL PROOF IS AWESOME!!! LOVE THAT STUFF!
Nice job, as always. Favorite bourbon enthusiast channel.
Love this ❤
This gal likes her whiskey.
I have a good few of these including 1792 and
J Bowman. Great stuff.
Now I have a list of more to get.😊
thanks to your videos I tried my first bottle of 1792...
Excellent Choices! The only one I would've added to your list is Early Times Bottle and Bond.
Just killed a 1792 Small Batch bottle, and yesterday picked up two 1792 Full Proof store picks!! Great video, Jason.
Jason, you are so right I picked up a bottle of JD barrel prof @ 132 I just love it. Rare breed is amazing as well
I love Russell’s and Rare Breed. I have paid top dollar for Master’s Keep too, but 101 shocked the hell out of me in a blind tasting. Hard to beat for $20-$25. Old Grandad was the same thing. If it’s cold where you live…throw some Old Grandad 114 in some mulled hot cider. Soooo nice!
Belle Meade Cask and Rare Breed are 2 of my fave sippers.
Cheers!
Applause! What a big list for people to use, awesome stuff. Gem of a channel for the bourbon/whiskey folks
I won the day this week and took your advice on the JDBP. Just can’t argue on that one. Great video, one of my all time favorites. Awesome advice!
Tons of info for a new whiskey drinker! I was looking for George Remis and it was 40-45 everywhere. Walked into the local Sam’s club clearance for 15.71! Bought the last four they had😃
I had Wt101 for the first time this week and it was so so so good. I went back a few times. Surprising because of its price.
