- In an effort to not turn your living room into a Bourbon Bunker filled to the nines with bottles, we bring you 12(ish) Bourbons to have on your bar cart. This list is made with availability, price, and well-rounded function in mind, so if you don't see one of your favorites on here, we probably have a reason for it. That being said, selection is subjective, and we would love to hear what you keep on your bar cart!

I love how they both definitely have a buzz going
This is my favorite bourbon review video. It inspired me to get into bourbons, buy a bar cart, and fill it with many of the bourbons they recommended.
My first bourbon experience was back in 2013. Started out with Wild Turkey 101. Excellent whiskey, and I've been through more bottles of that than I have with the others in my cabinet.
@@elijahfluw4347 Now that's the million dollar question, isn't it?
@@BloodySawBladeMY first bourbon experience was also with WT101! I was 16 and I swiped most of a bottle that had been leftover from a party my family had. It was really something how easy that went down, just swigging it from the bottle while sitting on the back of my friend's speedboat which was docked in a marina at night. Until about 90 minutes later when I was heaving something fierce over the side.
@@BigBadJerryRogers haha i can totally relate, similar situation! Thanks 4 the blast from the past!! :)
I was 14 when friends and I got into their parents makers mark. Never really been a fan. But I drank too much of it. I like Elijah Craig Small Batch. And Basil Hayden Toast.
I would love to see y'all make a video about your "balls-to-the-wall, money is no option, best possible" ultimate 12 bourbons bar cart.
I need a bar cart first.... 😎
I really like the Elijah Craig, 4 roses & just recently snagged a bottle of Weller's--yum!
ftbuddy edgy Sad
Four Roses single barrel is excellent
Too bad Elijah Craig 12 year old is gone
Thank you for doing this. I went shopping today and bought 5 bottles on the list. I feel so dumb for passing up WT 101 all these years. Sipping it rt now. 🥃
WT 101 is crazy good for the money. (Also check out Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. It's $17-ish in MA.)
Woodford Double Oak
Eagle Rare
Blanton’s
Wellers Antique
Buffalo Trace
Four Roses
All in my cart
And Rare Breed
Great start, thank you
I have most of these on my bar cart. Old Forester 1920 is hard to find in my area, but I'm a huge fan of their regular 86 proof bourbon. It's not the best at anything but it does everything very, very well. It has a permanent spot on my bar cart (along with Wild Turkey 101, Eliza Craig small batch and Buffalo Trace), and always a reserve bottle on the lower shelves. My current bar cart has the following:
1) Old Forester 86 proof
2) Russell's reserve 10 year. (drinking this as I type)
3) Buffalo Trace
4) Jack Daniels
5) Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel proof (135 proof)
6) Knob Creek single barrel reserve (120 proof)
7) Jack Daniels Rye
8) Dewars White Label (I like scotch, sometimes. Nothing fancy)
9) Ezra Brooks 90 proof
10) Eliza Craig Small Batch (94 proof)
11) Evan Williams 1783
12) Makers Mark
13) Crown Royal
14) Wild Turkey 101
15) Bulleit Rye (the spiciest whiskey I know of. Fantastic, if in the mood)
Hands down Eagle Rare is my go to. Aged 10 years and under $40. Solid go to! Four Roses, Wild Turkey 101 is another good one and Jim Beam Devils Cut
Eagle Rare is my favorite but it's ridiculously difficult to find in Virginia
Love that you had 2 Evan Williams choices! I find Ezra Brooks Rye is CHEAP and makes a better Old Fashion than many top shelf bourbons. It's a bourbon that you can afford to intoxicate a large group with ease.
Love you guys! Y'all helped me start with Bourbon three years ago. Great cart....cool that y'all had Old Grand Dad 114 on your cart.
Old Grand Dad BIB is worth trying also.
McKenna is a great value!! Found it at a local grocery store for $26 pretty sure I ended up buying like 5 of the 6 bottles they had over a period of time.
Great price.
ooooooooooooooo9pppkppkppop ol lo ok ok o lo ok op ok I poop poopo I ooppp9990⁰09099000
Thanks for putting this together. I now realize that I need a bar cart.
Yes. You do.
The Bourbon Diaries how does one get it up and down the stairs with the bottles on there..?
Koge pet sounds like you need two carts. You could have different bottles on each 😝
McKenna - (buy for a friend)
Buffalo trace - (drink neat)
Elijah Craig- (neat/rock or cocktail)
Wild Turkey 101- (boozy cocktails)
Old Grand dad - (old time classic)
For me buffalo is very overrated and cant drink neat. Agree on everyone else! Find the faves!
What the title says: "12 Bourbons You Need To Have On Your Bar Cart."
What I learned: I need to have a bar cart.
Likewise. I just told my wife I’m Turing out reading room to a bourbon room
Yah, Im thinkin a bar. Like these two.
😂
@@bodegaboys7475 Turing Out? Better just leave the house alone dude. 😅
@@petemitchell6788 lmbo. Apple auto correct is the dumbest feature lol. I see you needed to edit the message you sent to me.
Allocation is interesting; here in New England I see way more Eagle Rare than Buffalo Trace.
In summer of 2019 Sams Club in Myrtle Beach had a ton of ER at $26.
For the price, I am a big fan of Bulliet. I can still get it for $28 US. Their Barrel proof is fantastic too, but its over twice the price and hard to find.
Bulliet rye is great.
Paid $11 for WT101 at my local Trader Joe’s. What a steal!
I agree with all but 3. I’ve been to a few of these. I 100% love the fact that you stayed true to KY. I’d love to get together and talk bourbon.
You guys have gotten me on the Elijah Craig Small Batch train of late. Like you said, just a rock solid bourbon for any occasion. I'm a believer.
Ben Friend
Elijah Craig is so tasty. Plus the bottle is so easy to pour. No splash.
I was drinking Elijah Craig while watching this video....😁
I love these two. This is one of my favorite bourbon channels.
Thanks so much!!
This feel like the 90-2000s jewelry show on channel 299. You even have the rotating table display.
I’m in New Jersey and many of the bourbons on your cart are favorites of mine. Just a side note to Sara, in 2018 I found only bottles of Henry McKenna Bottled in Bond but in 2019 I bought 16 bottles ! It was in heaven.🥃
Dang I was thinking 1783 but was surprised you picked it. It's a great "new to bourbon, go easy on me" choice.
I had a bottle of Woodford Reserve that I purchased
In 1992. The name on the bottle was Lincoln Henderson. I saved it for my wife and I share after our 30 year anniversary. We had that in 2019. One word. Unforgettable.
The new Woodford is …. A little mediciny I put some smoked maple syrup in it… good to go
Sadly, I live in France where my selection of bourbons are limited. But I truly enjoyed your video. Next trip to the states I’ll smuggle back a bar cart....filled..;-)
Is it really that hard? Even with online shops? (Not implying, just asking coz really curious, mon friend. :) )
I have about a dozen Bourbons on hand but Evan Williams is the one I'm replacing the most often. For the price and quality it's hard to beat IMHO.
It really is. Not the greatest, of course. But it has a depth that many others in that price range don't have. It's a great go-to Bourbon.
Try the Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof! Good stuff, better than the black label
@@jaymil53 Agreed. :)
Challenge accepted. Found blantons, EH taylor, eagle rare, and weller antique in one stop at my local store. God Bless TN. and yes. It was MSRP
Score!
Thank y’all just learning about bourbons and y’all are so fun to watch
In Michigan we have several local distilleries but one I am quite fond of is Grand Traverse. They have a cherry whiskey that is based with their bourbon and combined with cherry juice from one of the local cherry farms (I mean it's Michigan, cherries are kind of our thing) and I pick up a fifth of it every chance I get! So that would go on my bar cart :-)
If you carrying 12 bourbons in your bar cart, it’s no longer a bar cart, it’s become an actual bar.
😂😂 So true!
😂
What is a bar cart if not a bar that’s on wheels! Haha
Great idea. The last thing you want is for a guest to point at your hard-won, expensive / discontinued bottle and asking to sample it.
Because we all have that friend. Hey, let me taste that... Proceeds to drink half the bottle.
I was surprised when I didn't see any Bulliet on the cart but then I saw... it's not event on the wall?! Good day sir!
I believe the Bulleit is reserved for the "other" cart. You know, for the aristocrat.
Love me some Tattoo Edition!
Lots of fun energy in your videos and a lot of good information. I'm a scotch lover who is trying to try more bourbon. Loved your live with Aqvavitae. The ECSB and Woodford are my favorite of the ones of these I've tried.
When I was still a Bourbon rookie, I walked into a Grocery Store offshoot near me. Kind of a ghetto grocery store/pharmacy on a much smaller scale of the parent company. To my surprise, they had 4 bottle of Blanton's. I'd heard this was good stuff, so I bought a bottle for $40. I ran through it pretty quickly. A friend of mine actually drove to Lexington KY just to buy a bottle of Blanton's, but they didn't have any for sale. I said I'd check my little spot in the hood to see if they had any....low and behold they did....4 bottles, I bought 2, gave one to him. He felt stupid. I'm going back there today to see if they still have it....if they do I'll buy all they have.
Aaron McVay you need to start a business flipping blantons
@@williamsheppard2026 I'd be too scared to part with any bottles...I've only got 1 un-opened left.
Here in Tennessee we have Chattanooga Whiskey now, which they’re starting to release their own spirit now! But even just their MGP finished in local beer barrels is some fantastic stuff.
Lizzy Williams agree Chattanooga’s Barrel proof is nectar of the gods
Lizzy Williams I agree. I’ve had a few of the 1816 offerings (including the beer barrel finished ones) and liked all of them. Good whiskey!
@@tldhthompson We travel to Chattanooga once a year and I was lucky to get to try the new 91 and 111 varieties. I was really impressed by the new stuff considering it's barely over two years old. I loved the 1816 offerings.
I'm glad and thrilled to have seen Old Grand Dad make the cut on your bar cart. I loved drinking Old Grand Dad back in the days growing up and working in a liquor store. I was a little saddened that Old Crow, another true favorite of mine, did not make the cut. I would surely add Old Crow in my cart alongside Old Grand Dad.
Four Roses bourbon was the best drink served during New Year's Eve👌
As a South African living in cape town. We have long had access to top end Scottish and Irish malts. But the decent bourbons are now starting to show up if you look in the right places. I am a convert. Got a bottle of 4 roses small batch and had a large one after a long cold surf. It was perfect. Desperate to try whistlepig.👍
Nicholas Woodward Blantons is incredible. So is 4 roses single barrel. Woodfords double oaked is awesome. 1792 is a good one always. EH Taylor is nice too. Whistlepig is good one. A bit spicy but nice.
@@TheKoog97 thanks for the heads up. Will keep your suggestions on the short list. 👍
So far out of all those, I love the Wild Turkey Rarw Bread, I've tried 80% of the selection and all time favorite is the Rare Bread, hands down
Dude, so true! But what can we do to save it from the taters?
I really dig the Old Grand Dad Bonded for under $25 (East TN). It's my "works in public education" Basil Haydens. I used to love Eagle Rare but it really live up to its name these days...
OGD BIB is my go to for mixed drinks and OGD 114 is my go to for neat.
This is hilarious I actually have every bottle you two chose 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I guess I'm sitting pretty good from you guys standards.
Totally!
You guys are a SNL skit featuring Will Farrell and Cheri Oteri. Thanks for putting this together.
Austin Hunt Hey, we’ll take it, thank you!
Knob Creek barrel picks are incredible.
Yessir!!! Also my daily driver 100 proof its damn good.
I concour
Since I agree with all of them, I cannot believe you didn't pick my absolute favourite! My heart literally skips a beat when I see Maker's Mark on the bar shelf. That's Old Fashioned ordered even before I come through the door.
Romysh Bellucci yes Makers belongs on any bar!
Great choices guys ! I’d like to add my personal go to bourbon to your cart. You cannot go wrong with Bulleit bourbon. Great all around taste at a reasonable price. 🥃🥃🥃
I was waiting for that too 😉
This
I honestly didn’t think you’d have the Evan Williams on there. The BiB is amazing. Best value I’ve found anywhere. $13. Seriously, beat that! Love that you have those bottles on there, true sign of a bourbon lover.
Knob Creek single barrel has become my favorite bourbon under $100. Great stuff!
Same. Best bang for the buck in the bourbon world imo. 9 years, single Barrell, basically barrel proof, and big bold flavors? Yes, please.
You two make a great couple. Great personalities and well spoken. I don't see wedding rings. Life's too short, make it happen love birds.
I totally agree with your Old Forester choice. My choice would be Old Forestor Sifnature 100 proof at 25 dollars and it's got a great flavor.
To share with friends, yes....to have for yourself, the 1920 is one of my favorites. OF 1920 is also a bit pricey to be sharing...especially if you're cheap like I am...LOL
I just had some OF 💯 last night with a splash of Islay single malt scotch whisky to add some smokiness to the sweet bourbon. I call it a Forest Fire. Delicious! 😄🥃
Did a bourbon tour in TN and KY. Went to a small distillery and it's brand one first place several years ago. Pritchards single barrel whiskey. About $90.00 per bottle. Well worth it. Very smooth.
Just picked up an old grandad 114, it’s just badass
It. Is. Awesome.
And great value.
literally just finished a glass of buffalo trace … DELICIOUS. i’ve had most of these bourbons and agree 100 percent . we think alike lol
just paid Blantons 55.99, Weller 107 for 49.99 and eagle rare for 28.00 , very happy!!
Score!
You must know an RNDC distributor if you got all three.... lol
Love the presentation and subject, some up to date information from the Big Easy...Wild Turkey Rare Breed (116 Proof $60 )is now very hard to find in Louisiana Russels Reserve Single Barrel at (110 Proof $57 ) is often substituted by many of the retail stores in the New Orleans area. Lastly Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Proof at 126.6 Proof $75 finally showed up at our local Total Wine. Jack Daniels 10 year 97 Proof and 12 Year 107 Proof has not hit the stores yet in this area. Just bought some Wild Turkey Rare Breed RYE Barrel Proof 112.2 Proof $55
Also, Jim Beam Single Barrel is one of my everyday sippers. Just over $30 in my area.
I love the picks. I have a store i can get buffalo trace, eagle rare, blantons and sometimes weller
Where are you located?
Super, super, solid list here. And I love the concept, of having a selection out rather than leading the uninitiated into your whisk(e)y vault, ha ha. I've got most of these, but you have piqued my interest on a few I've overlooked -like the Pikesville Rye, the new Small Batch Select, and the EW 1783. Never had any of those yet. Cheers!
Knob Creek barrel proof must be amazing because i went to a local store on a sunday and they had an entire shelf full. But i was just browsing this day. I went the following Saturday to pick up a bottle and they were completely gone! 120 proof for the same price as the regular small batch. I truly missed out.
Thanks for mentioning the O G 114. Great stuff for the price.
2 weeks ago my beatiful wife came home with 3 bottles of bourbon for me Buffalo Trace, Blantons, and Henry Mckenna 10.....i was speechless....because that was rare where we live i mean Eagle Rare....lol. But really i was shocked. I live in Va so this was a great find in one store. I so love my wife. Chad and Sara great topic with the bar cart! You two are awesome.
I live in central VA and it's impossible nowadays to find Buffalo Trace. ABC locally has a one bottle limit. Back in February we were in Lake Charles LA, the grocery store had a huge stock Buffalo Trace. I think the ABC board is directing product shipments to specific areas because of political influence.
best place to find Colonel Taylor and eagle rare is in the D terminal in DFW they have a whole store basically dedicated to it and its not a duty free store! great prices to
Lofted57 really I’m interested in hearing more about this non duty free store also do you know the name!!!
Joshua Nelson the store is called Whiskey Flights and it’s located over by D23. There other non duty free store have some decent selections and every now and then you can find stuff that will not be in local stores. Those store are tax exempt as well
Thanks man I’ll keep that in mind for sure
Lofted57 thank you! Next time I pass through there for work I will grab some.
Lofted57 Whoa! thx for the info 👊🏻
Great show. Great looking room, lighting and video
Thanks so much!
Great vid, guys! Agree with you all around the cart. 1783 is a workhorse and one of the best values in the store. It wins a lot of blind tastings I do with friends. EC has become my go-to daily sipper and Rare Breed is where I turn when I need some big flavors!
Evan Williams Bottled in bond is my go to daily all around bourbon. Great stuff.
Unbelievable! I have 11 of the 12
you mention. Chad are you telepathic??!!GET OUT OF MY MIND!!!!! :p
I am, Mitch. So be careful what you think!! haha
Was at a supermarket in the liquor aisle when I observed a man walk down the aisle and oblivious to all the choices grabbed a bottle off the shelf and walked away with it. I was able to determine that it was a bottle of Buffalo Trace whiskey. So due to this mans binding selection I also bought a a bottle. Some great whiskey if there ever was great whiskey.
Ohio has a surprisingly large amount of Weller Special Reserve. I went to the local state owned liquor store last week and they have 12+ bottles sitting on the shelf.
Same. I was in Toledo and stopped at Joseph’s and they had cases of it, around $25 a bottle with tax (limit 2 per person)
Liquor store had Buffalo Trace 750’s for $22 yesterday, only allowed to buy 2... best value there is
Went through 3 bottles of Blanton's last weekend. Now the search begins.
Darth Haggis 4Months later, any luck?
10 months later any luck? If so how much did you pay?
@@TheSooner1975 was able to pick up one bottle on vacation in Orlando since then....no other luck at all :(
One year into my bourbon journey I have finally collected all those bottles suggested 🥃
The Evan Williams bottle in bond excellent value!
guezcisco only $17.99 in Michigan!!
Indeed it is good bourbon. My go to bourbons are Old Crow, Evan Williams/ Bonded.
Love knob creek anything. Going to Bardstown in a week. Love Bardstown and the talbott inn.
I was drinking Maker's Mark while watching this :)
Mike Heller MM is only thing I drink
Hell yea!
I agree with that. Some of what they picked is not good in my opinion
This is a great piece still today, that is so informative, and the selections are dead on. Made me wait until the end of the video for a rye which is Pikesville. It's my favorite whiskey right now, always available in MD for ~ $50 and I just love it.
When I joined the military in 1966 I was stationed overseas. On my first promotion I bought 4 quart bottles of 4 Roses whiskey at $1.00 per bottle in the base liquor store. If it was bourbon, I was unaware. I've been a bourbon drinker for 45 years.
Class VI: a classic beginning to many mistakes
Originally 4 Roses was not a bourbon but a blend (like Seagrams 7). I went all the way back to before Prohibition. Continued to produce during Prohibition under Govn't contract. Eventually they stopped producing it. The label was then revived (trademark purchased?) and brought back as a bourbon. Good Stuff. Should be marketed more.
I live in Pennsylvania. Every liquor store in all of PA is a "Fine Wine & Good Spirits" store.
These stores are owned and operated by the state government. All employees are state employees. You cannot buy any bottles of liquor legally unless it is at one of these stores (this used to be the case for wine as well but that has only recently changed).. The only exception would be at an actual distillery.
This is why you will often hear people in Pennsylvania refer to a liquor store as "the state store".
So the state basically decides what they will carry in-stock at what stores.
If the store is in a ritzy area or an area that has been heavily gentrified then these stores will often be larger with greater selection, including pricier products.
If the store is located in a ghetto then the store will be small and have a small selection of cheap to moderate quality/priced items (so the cheapest vodka will be there, but don't expect to find any Johnnie Walker Blue).
In most middle class suburbs you will find stores somewhere in the middle.
Pennsylvania here. The comment I've been searching for. Luckily I have access to DE, MD and NJ which gives me higher hopes when I'm in those areas.
McKenna 10 = impossible to find.
Sarah- how could you leave out EW single barrel? You’re killing me smalls! It’s wonderful and about 25 bucks!
Larceny saved you a bit. It’s a great wheaten.
Your entry level selection is on point
I agree with probably the first half dozen or so.
WT 101 though is $40+ in Oregon and we just didn't like it.
Henry McKenna's entry level is the only bottle available here. But it's probably your best spent $12-$13 for bourbon!
I prefer wheat beers over others. So I really need to try that Larceny.
I think WT101 is great.
That being said: Not for 40 bucks.
Great video! Some very solid, practical choices here. And I'm glad you factored in availability and didn't suggest anything crazy to add to your cart. Thanks!
Thank you!
Jim Beam Black is a popular smooth bourbon and my fav to each there own
Just want to say, I have Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, Blanton's, Weller, & 10 yr Old Van Winkle. And yes, all at MSRP. Really got lucky on the Weller and Van Winkle. And great video. Thanks
Great Video... You should have said.. "But wait.. THERE'S MORE!!"
BigAceMe you must like Jaw Tooth!
Old Forester Rye is my FAVORITE for an Old Fashioned. Just mixes so great and for $22 for a 1 ltr bottle out here, you can't beat that price. Pretty much most of the stuff you put on that cart I have tried as well, but there are a few that I have been holding off on. Also, if you do like ice in the hot summer months, the Evan Williams Bottled in Bond is really good over ice. I kinda stumbled on the channel myself and I will be back to check out more for sure! Even added a sub to make it easier to check out more
Oh another fun one to include has been anything from the Redemption line. Little higher proof on most, but they make really good bourbon and rye. Recently they released a high wheat bourbon as well. That one is a bit higher in price, but most stick around $30 for 46% abv (96 proof).
(Shhh - this stuff is getting hard to find)
Don't listen to this guy, Old Forester rye is garbage. If you make the mistake of buying this swill, I will save you the trouble of pouring it down your drain, just send it to me.
@@ncyankee101 Hahaha. Ya. I was sad that they stopped the 1 ltr release near where I live. 1 ltr for $22 at 100 proof. Such a good deal!
I guess I’m spoiled, I can go to any place near me for that eagle rare 😂 perks of living in Kentucky
Same here lol always can find just about any bourbon where I live
So jealous! Tough to get in Pennsylvania. Try Kinsey’s if you can get it down there. It’s a whiskey made here. Aged 10 years for about $30. Really smooth and can’t beat the price.
I was happy to see ancient age on your shelf. It's surprisingly good for a $10 bourbon. Being from Woodford county, I enjoyed your first pic. Overall, there are only 25 different bourbons on my shelf.
1920 One of my favorites right now hands down
Loved this. I get to KY on business a fair amount. Will look forward to an invite to come sample a couple off the cart. 😉
I'd have to replace Buffalo Trace with Eagle Rare in my area. I've never seen a bottle of BT in any of my local liquor stores, yet Eagle Rare is readily available.
I have whiskey! My problem is all my bottles are in the kitchen, way up high in a cupboard. Any suggestions on a good bar cart?
OGD 114 is sooo underrated. Wait.. let me not say that. I don't want it to to become hard to find it. 😂
Good video. I just bought two bottles of Eagle Rare for 30 ea, 2x Blantons x 60 and 4 BT for 22 ea.
Thanks, good list. Some are getting hard to get as of this date. My everyday drinker is Makers 46 (don't hate on me :) ). KInd of surprised it did not make it on the bar cart, but not totally surprised. Carry on and I look forward to more great videos.
MM 46 is a great shout..a bit pricey however
@@johnhayen278 Yeah, can be I usually pick it up for around $33. in my area, south Wisconsin. I guess it depends on your local, state, federal, carry (and on and on... taxes.
@@doxasnob8137 in NY (the tax king of the USA) it is about 45 a bottle..but very smooth
I've been drinking scotch single malts and they're great. After watching this video I'm going to try your bourbon selection. Don't know how much I might have missed.
Got to admit. I agreed with all of these. Solid round up of bourbons. I would probably include at least 1 like upper eschelon... maybe a Bookers, Basil's, etc.
A local grocery store here in my area is celebrating bourbon week. They gave a great review on about 7 bourbon's. Though I do like my Early Times, I thought I'd try something new, something twice the price, I settled on Woodford Reserve. I'm sipping it straight. I want to get to know it by itself without any type of mixer to cover it up with.
I must say I do like it. It's pretty smooth though it does get a little hot on the tongue as I roll it around on my tongue, sucking in a little fresh air, exiting from my nose. This bottle costs $29 which is twice the cost of Early Times.
I may try a few others in the near future in effort to break away from my comfort zone. I'd like to hear from you guys as to what you like and is affordable, every occasion bourbon.
I absolutely love the Larceny, McKenna, and Knob Creek 😁
Fantastic video. I was looking for a mixer bourbon and just picked up a bottle of Old Grand-Dad 114. What a fabulous pick! $29.99 in Northeastern Ohio so it won't break the bank, as well great choice with Diet or your favorite pairing. Cheers!
