As a kid growing up in the 80's and 90's it was common to see pickup trucks with gun racks in back windows. You would get cops called on you before getting to the end of the block these days. Does anyone remember this too?
Yep. It’s sad how this country has changed so fast. I wonder what the last straw will be.
Pete Quinones - yup, and I remember guys walking around open carry and no one cared anymore than if the gun was a wrench or a hammer in their belt. Back when men fixed things themselves and cops carried full sized 1911s and revolvers. Those were the days...
the last straw are gun loving americans deciding to turn them in for a government "greater good". stop trusting in the american government
When I was in fifth grade I took my grandfathers 12 gauge shotgun and the Great-horned Owl (mounted) that I klled with it --- To "Show and Tell". No parent, no adult chaperone, no phone calls to the school, nothing, nada, zip. I just marched right into school with the shotgun on the left and the Owl on the right. My teacher asked if it was loaded I replied with "No", so she asked me to place it in the corner of the room. So I did. And that was that circa 1976. That was when America was still the land of the almost-free and fairly brave. Today its land of the slave and home of the simp.
And in response to guns in trucks-- In high school there were many kids with gun racks and guns...mounted right in the back window. It was a different world. "They" destroyed us through immigration, welfare, and public schooling. I graduated in the mid-eighties.
Especially in Oregon. I used to have those in every truck I owned... Sad state of affairs now.

Depends on the situation. Sometimes you want to blend in, if in a super bad neighborhood where you want to announce to all “don’t mess with me”, then open carry.
"Open carry for attention, conceal carry for protection."
I know- old comment- but i just really disagree with this as a 100% fact. I carried open for years as a protest against concealed permitting. They want me to get a permit? No. They can feel uncomfortable instead. I have no ego and im not jumping through hoops i believe shouldnt be there.
@@dustinraymond9403 eh don’t open carry a rifle into a supermarket, don’t open carry a AR15 into a supermarket or crowded places which a rifle or AR15 is not normally used.
It’s a red flag, sets off triggered police response and makes people terribly afraid.
Open carrying a handgun is normal in said places regularly, a rifle is not. A rifle is either for hunting or killing at distance, and not used for self defense in places like that by normal citizens.
I can’t count how many times I’ve seen someone open carry a rifle in public to a supermarket or crowded area. Much less at the ready, slung around the front (which is what clowns do!) which scare everyone
If you KNOWINGLY make a large group of people fear for their lives, that’s a crime here. So, alls I’m saying is be careful where you carry, where you open carry; and what you carry openly.
Handguns are 100% fine 99% of the time, barring schools and court houses and jails/prisons, etc
Rifles, we all know- are not. They’re not useful in those places like a Walmart and only serve to get guns banned from said places because we over step ourselves

The guys I see that dress up in their weekend warrior tactical wannabe gear, I literally can’t help but to bust out laughing at them thinking they would be the first guys to cower under a table if shit hit the fan in a restaurant.

Being the gray guy IS a tactical advantage
Sometimes. There are advantages to covert and overt. You have to know your situation to know which one is better. The grey man looks like a soft target. No advantage in that if you get capped before having a chance at the “A-HA” moment before showing that you’re actually a hard target. In every day life, the covert grey man concept typically is the better route. Sometimes though, the only way not to be a target is to go complete opposite and be completely overt.
@@kennethwilson7315 good point but by being invisible while being aware of the enemy gives You the choice of how and when your actions need to be implemented.
Pantellco being “invisible” is synonymous with presenting a soft target. No matter how hard you try, you can’t be invisible. That’s the misconception of many people who always abide by grey man. You’re never invisible. You’re only blending in. If you’re blending in, you’re presenting the same target anyone else does. As a reactive force, this is a distinct disadvantage. Sometimes, the answer is presenting an overt threat because it allows you to be proactive instead of reactive. If everyone on your suburban block just watched some expensive thing get delivered at your home, grey man is no longer an option. Even the true grey man concept itself is paradoxical. You’re supposed to blend in yet appear vigilant enough to still present a harder target. Sometimes, you go grey man. Sometimes, you go nuclear deterrent. The wrong answer is thinking anything other than being adaptable is the right answer.
@@kennethwilson7315 A bad guy would most likely go after the biggest threat in the room rather than the grey man.
Levi Voyles that’s the kind of close minded approach that ignores facts and statistics. In the US and other developed countries, the typical “bad guy” is far more likely to go after the softest perceived target and not even hit a hard target. Why? The most common type of criminal in developed countries wants what you have. They want to rob you. They want to ambush you and receive minimal resistance. There’s a massive difference between that type of individual and the far less common “mass shooter”. Mass shooter’s who have the goal of just harming as many people as possible are likely to take out the biggest perceived threat. That mindset also accounts for less than 1% of violent crime in developed countries. Yeah, your logic is patently false.

I will never open carry. Not only does it put everyone on edge, but if a bad actor shows up, you'll be the first target.
Yet, people will argue the opposite all day long. If i was looking to do bad things, the first thing you do is look for the obvious target.
Dude, tweakers and muggers aren't situationally aware. They dont scan for threats. They grab the first available opportunity. Your position is only valid if you are front and center. If you are out of the way or one aisle over, the perp wouldn't have a clue, even if you were open carrying an ar.
Only when I'm in the woods
I agree but I sort of wish more people did open carry. So many people never see a gun except on the news or in a movie so they think of guns as something other people do instead of a perfectly normal activity as well as an important right.
I only open carry, when it won't cause alarm or i probably won't run into trouble (hunting, doing yard work, etc)
When Eric kicked his foot up to show off his pants I lost it 😂
He almost got his wind knocked out of him🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I want to be the guy that walks into a room and is forgotten moments after they see me.
I am that guy, and it's awesome. You will know you're doing it right when people you have met before (sometimes several times), introduce themselves to you because they don't remember you from your previous encounters.
If you "telegraph" that you are carrying, you give up the element of surprise - one of the biggest tactical advantages you would want. Being the Grey Man is good.

We called it being the grey man.
I still carry myself as such.

I gotta say, Chad is like a Old school New York City cop the way he carries himself and all..
The guy you're thinking of who took the grey man approach was FerFal. Great points on grey man behavior and situational awareness from parking to what you wear.
I think you can get away with some tactical pants in a more worn looking neutral color, gun shirts can be avoided. Wear a button down open, this can help blending in. Camo is fine in shorts in my area with a black shirt.90% of guys in my area under 40 wear that.
For me being around guys who work on tactical teams in my jobs, Merrell, Solomon and New Balance all terrain sneakers are what I and most of them wear in a simple black. Functional but not 5.11 or something similar for boots.
For urban areas some Molle on bags is actually camo on a black backpack. Everyone from Antifa leftsit, to photographer's and hipsters wear those bag's in my urban area.
For vehicles I try to keep it free some most stickers, I do have a small one for my business and that's all, vehicle is clean but bone stock exterior. For locking up firearms and hiding trauma gear I keep a jacket over the back of my seat hiding my trauma bag unless I'm driving. Pistol safes and cables are under the seats. No idea what I may have, visible is a cheap phone charge and glasses, in each console pocket is a tourniquet accessible but out of view.
For situational awareness not only do you need this inside a store, but walking around, in your vehicle or even at home. Be aware of the same car behind you for a while turn for turn. This saved me from an attempted car jacking which I later found out was happening in that area like crazy because people would look down at their phones when they stopped at a traffic light and the attacker would shove a gun in your face while texting. I saw a door open, gun and him step around his door. I drew mine and took off. Avoided the fight by seeing it. Same with cars or people on your street who don't belong there normally.
Biggest tell of a new or gun owner with a crap holster is they're touching their gun subtlety or pulling their shirt to check to see if it's showing 99% of my times seeing this I can see a low profile print, no matter what they're wearing. Every friend new to carry I tell them be aware not to keep checking to see if it's still there, it is. Even buddies in LE have said from criminals to law abiding citizens the gun check is something they all notice. Most are aware of it because it could be a pre-attack indicator from a criminal and that split second adjustment could alert them to a threat before a shot is fired. These are all 2A supporting cops who encourage people to carry.
You can't see my 1911 or the two extra mags when I am in my long sleeve polo shirt, shirt is tucked in.
Concealed carry has become so popular nowadays that you never know who's carrying a piece.

Look into clothes for tradesmen, loads of pockets and it's all tough as hell, I personally think tactical gear goes one of two ways, cheap and made to last a bit of posing or overpriced and silly tactical looking, stuff for tradesmen needs to be affordable and survive tough use, day in day out and best of all looks normal

Square,X,O,Triangle PaRappa was great!
The most passive thing about this is the hosts announcing their habits to the world
I love you guys. There’s so much hatred and hypocrisy in the gun community. I really appreciate your level headed approach to these sorts of topics.
You don’t b.s. with the facts but you don’t spread misinformation and “fear” either.
How to be a smooth operator 😂😂
It’s the grey man concept. Follow it always.
I like to use the "Street Sleeper"tactic on Motorcycles ,buy them cheap & second hand but basically solid , do understated upgrades , decent suspension, braided hoses, decent brake pads , quality air filters , possibly jetted with a modded exhaust ,I use a decent lock , but I keep them rough around the edges and don't polish visible items ,they still go like stink and the thieves target the nice newer shiney machines and leave mine alone , keep it low key .
Great video guys. This is the exact reason I don't put stickers on my vehicle. Everything is low key and when I wear firearms related hats it's always very low key ones that only another avid gun lover would know what it is
Gordan Freeman glasses, lmao
That's why I decided not to stick any stickers or decals on my truck.
rds801 when i see a man in a truck, I instantly think he’s got a truck gun.
I used to watch all of iraqveteran8888 videos but they stopped appearing on my feed around the start of coronavirus. After searching them up in November and liking a few of their videos I now have their videos in my feed.
( another Atlanta guy)I've pretty much always thought along the " discretion" theme in vehicle stickers and had none. My one exception that I just couldn't resist was that I put a " Blackwater" paw print sticker in the back window of my truck camper top. I guess I only got one or two "thumbs up" acknowledgements in the year or so it was on there. I reconsidered and took it off. I usually drive a Honda Fit.. BUT... I'm also a Harley rider. I usually wear jeans, tac boots, & black shirt/ sweater, Black leather vest/ jacket depending on weather whether it's Honda car or Harley. Not trying to be a bad ass, It's just very practical. Lots of pockets easy to CC.
