Pls add lots more foliage around the red wood trees because in real life, they have a surrounding of little plants and then lots of ferns and other such plants. Also, they have big roots that go out from them. Finally, if you are coming to have one bare or unearthed/fallen down, for bare Ames the inside of the trunk hollow as if it was burned cause that happens a decent bit and for fallen over, give lots of roots and their hole root system comes out with them. Awesome trees.

Seeing the hairless cat trees gave me an idea, you could have a tree that struck by lightning and broke in half and either, the top broken of half fell into a river, creating a kind of natural bridge, that doesn’t go all the way across, with mushrooms, fungi, mold, stuff like that, or, the top half is just on the ground, and it’s been altered for like, kids to play on, or something like that

I think the one thing people barely use to describe Scar is that he's a genius. The way he made those trees and make sure every small details, including the light, exist in harmony is not something anyone can just do
He's always been a genius. he's goofy and fun and plays poorly, but it's all just an act to disguise his truly good gameplay. Not to say he's not genuinely having fun, but that he definitely is not as bad of a player as he lets on. And then, of course, there is his building. Nothing can describe that but beautiful.

I am immensely sad that, due to technical difficulties, we will never be able to see your point of view from the instantly iconic “hello, God!” moment as Cub slowly and majestically descends from the heavens. Flawless delivery, impeccable comedic instincts, character consistent, beautiful timing. One of the very best bits this season, possibly ever. There should be a MASSIVE Redwood Tree that has a tunnel through it for the train tracks to go through! The train itself shouldn’t be inside, as that’ll hide the build, but I love when Redwoods are so big people have to cut pathways through, yet the tree survives!
that is false. there are no redwood trees alive with giant holes cut in them for travel. those old photos like that were taken at a time when over 90% of the redwood forest was being destroyed. that infamous photo is part of that deforestation history. redwoods do not survive having a car sized hole in their trunk.
Scar, dead redwoods wood be genius! And if you made one look like it’s burned a bit, you could really tell a story as that is exactly how they reproduce. When exposed to forest fires, redwoods cast their seeds, so the storytelling would be incredible!
hey Scar, I know you want to keep the shadows under the trees but mobs will keep spawning if the blocks on the ground are at light level 0, but luckily there are some things that can be used to bring the light level up to around 1-3 and still have the blocks look pretty dim: brown mushrooms and redstone torches brown mushrooms give off a light level of 1, and might even give off some detailed storytelling by having patches of dark-loving muchrooms growing under the thickest shadows of the redwoods. redstone torches can be placed under moss carpets and give off a low light level, which placed between mushrooms will help prevent mobs spawning under the trees but still keep the darkness that wouldn't be there if someone placed down regular torches instead

These Redwood trees definitely tie the area all together. Originally I was disappointed ore mountain was getting tore down but now that I see this I’m not even mad, these trees are spectacular!
Hi Scar, I don't know if you're gonna see this because this comment is two days late, but i figured this was important! I actually have the privilege to LIVE in one of the beautiful redwood forests in western America. First of all, those are INCREDIBLE. They are so perfectly accurate to redwood trees outside of my house! And THANKYOU for making the colors correct, I've seen some people make the redwoods a dark brown with BRIGHT BRIGHT red insides, but that orangey hue is just perfect. BUT... And this is not a criticism of your build, just a little cool insider tidbit for those who'd like it: 1. Redwood trees are extremely jampacked, basically growing yards from one another (Meters for the world) and essentially take over any sight of the sky. Also, irl, redwood trees are not that big. Because they grow so quickly and constantly, there is logging 24/7 in our forests. Only the California Giants are that big, because they were allowed to keep on growing. Outside of my home are actually some really big hollowed out remnant stumps of the once magnificent trees! I think it would be so cool if you scattered some logging stumps about. You could maybe even put a little logger cabin hidden somewhere between the trees But yeah, most real trees now are mostly about one block wide in real life! There's also hundreds of teeny tiny (about two-three blocks high) mini redwoods all about between the trees, which are the babies. I think another amazing tree you could build if you'd ever like some more is what I like to call "big twisties" which are some really wacky trees that grew their branches out wildly bending all over the place and up and down and everywhere! They're also usually pretty short because their branches aren't the best. Thank you for taking the time to really build and appreciate these majestic trees, because although famous, they don't get all of the service I believe they deserve.
Having seen the redwoods in person, I can tell you the one thing you're missing right now is that they grow in large groups. I honestly think adding more closer together would be a LOT nicer.
redwoods like to grow in little circles of thinner redwoods- when lighting strikes them, they split apart and grow that way, and when they die, their seeds will grow in a circle around the original tree! i live in a redwood forest and its FULL of little fairy circles of redwood trees only as big around as my torso. absolutely magical
Would be cool if you made a few redwoods significantly taller than the rest. Kinda like how "Hyperion" (the tallest living thing) absolutely towers above its surroundings making you forget those "small" trees around it are also gigantic redwoods. And you can make it a tourist attraction of sorts just like "The President" and "General Sherman" are.
A couple small suggestions for the redwoods - the bark at the top of the trees tends to be more grey, vs the fuzzy red of the lower portions of the stem. You could try using oak to transition to unstripped acacia or maybe even some andesite or something like that at the tip top! You could also make one or two with fire scars or "goose pens" - when the inside of the base of the trunk is hollowed out into a cave during a fire, but the tree survives. Redwoods have an amazing ability to withstand fire and many, many old growth redwoods bear scars...I think it's kinda perfect!

I've always loved the logs that fell in the river by the bank that are half submerged and have sticks sticking out of the water, it's a little ecosystem. It could be a cool touch to add on with this area.

Somehow it doesn't feel right, comparing so many great builders on hermitcraft. But in my own humble opinion, the best are Bdubs + Scar, closely followed by Pearl.....
Hey Scar! As a native Californian who is lucky to live in these redwoods I just wanted to say that you nailed it! Those look amazing! You noted that some were looking a little same-y. Just an idea, many of these trees have burn scars. They're incredibly fire resistant and survive having caves burned through half their trunks. Just a thought. Again, you're amazing and just blew me away with that design!
One thing scar... Your tree with the lighting is king of in reverse. Leaves and trees lean toward the light, so the side with the light should be a bit fuller but. It's still a really nice build.
You could make a fallen redwood tree The roots could be sticking up out of the ground and you could make the tree in different stages of decay (you could make it still have leaves or you could make it rotting.) you could also have it fallen on the track on either side of the train, either explaining why it isn't going anywhere or making it like it's trapped and has to go into the portal.
Scar, I have been waiting for this episode since you first mentioned you were going to build Redwood trees and let me tell you, I am not disappointed! As someone who can open their front door and walk into a coastal redwood forest, you did sooooo good!! The colors, the shading, and yes that last one where you didn't finish adding leaves was probably my favorite. So you know how you know all that information about Disney? Redwood trees are my Disney
So, hear me out, the glass shop could be an outdoor shop and sculpture/walking garden in a commercial district. Like a green space. Could use more thought to the layout and some beautification, but I like the idea
Wow, I'm close to 19 minutes into the video and I had to leave a comment about how much I LOVE the lighting effects on the redwoods. Every time Scar would turn around into a view of a few of the trees where one had this striking gash of light on one side and another would be shrouded totally, it just POPPED for me, and now I have to play around with lighting more going forward...
As someone who went to school in humboldt (in the redwoods in CA) seeing these trees so we'll represented in minecraft made my heart soar. Thanks scar!!!! U rock!

I just want to point out that I think Cub might need to do a little look over what shops they flagged as pop-ups. Some of those looked good. If mud hut counts as a pop-up, then I think the rebel sand counts as a pop-up shop then.
the sand one isn't just the hut, it's the whole landscaping thing as well. it'd be like treating big wood's individual stalls as popups, or imperial gravel's shuttle as a popup

A nice distinctive detail that you could add to one of the trees is lightning damage. The tops of tall trees are often a blackened charred mess.

Giant Redwood is one of my top favorite trees, mainly being one of the tallest existing trees standing at the average height of 300 feet.

These Redwood trees definitely tie the area all together. Originally I was disappointed ore mountain was getting tore down but now that I see this I’m not even mad, these trees are spectacular!

Hi Scar, I don't know if you're gonna see this because this comment is two days late, but i figured this was important! I actually have the privilege to LIVE in one of the beautiful redwood forests in western America. First of all, those are INCREDIBLE. They are so perfectly accurate to redwood trees outside of my house! And THANKYOU for making the colors correct, I've seen some people make the redwoods a dark brown with BRIGHT BRIGHT red insides, but that orangey hue is just perfect. BUT... And this is not a criticism of your build, just a little cool insider tidbit for those who'd like it: 1. Redwood trees are extremely jampacked, basically growing yards from one another (Meters for the world) and essentially take over any sight of the sky. Also, irl, redwood trees are not that big. Because they grow so quickly and constantly, there is logging 24/7 in our forests. Only the California Giants are that big, because they were allowed to keep on growing. Outside of my home are actually some really big hollowed out remnant stumps of the once magnificent trees! I think it would be so cool if you scattered some logging stumps about. You could maybe even put a little logger cabin hidden somewhere between the trees But yeah, most real trees now are mostly about one block wide in real life! There's also hundreds of teeny tiny (about two-three blocks high) mini redwoods all about between the trees, which are the babies. I think another amazing tree you could build if you'd ever like some more is what I like to call "big twisties" which are some really wacky trees that grew their branches out wildly bending all over the place and up and down and everywhere! They're also usually pretty short because their branches aren't the best. Thank you for taking the time to really build and appreciate these majestic trees, because although famous, they don't get all of the service I believe they deserve.
Having seen the redwoods in person, I can tell you the one thing you're missing right now is that they grow in large groups. I honestly think adding more closer together would be a LOT nicer.

Those are some of the best trees I've ever seen on minecraft. This and Bdub's forest are just in another level of terraforming and ambiance making.

redwoods like to grow in little circles of thinner redwoods- when lighting strikes them, they split apart and grow that way, and when they die, their seeds will grow in a circle around the original tree! i live in a redwood forest and its FULL of little fairy circles of redwood trees only as big around as my torso. absolutely magical
Would be cool if you made a few redwoods significantly taller than the rest. Kinda like how "Hyperion" (the tallest living thing) absolutely towers above its surroundings making you forget those "small" trees around it are also gigantic redwoods.
And you can make it a tourist attraction of sorts just like "The President" and "General Sherman" are.
A couple small suggestions for the redwoods - the bark at the top of the trees tends to be more grey, vs the fuzzy red of the lower portions of the stem. You could try using oak to transition to unstripped acacia or maybe even some andesite or something like that at the tip top! You could also make one or two with fire scars or "goose pens" - when the inside of the base of the trunk is hollowed out into a cave during a fire, but the tree survives. Redwoods have an amazing ability to withstand fire and many, many old growth redwoods bear scars...I think it's kinda perfect!

I've always loved the logs that fell in the river by the bank that are half submerged and have sticks sticking out of the water, it's a little ecosystem. It could be a cool touch to add on with this area.

Hey Scar! As a native Californian who is lucky to live in these redwoods I just wanted to say that you nailed it! Those look amazing!
You noted that some were looking a little same-y. Just an idea, many of these trees have burn scars. They're incredibly fire resistant and survive having caves burned through half their trunks. Just a thought. Again, you're amazing and just blew me away with that design!

One thing scar... Your tree with the lighting is king of in reverse. Leaves and trees lean toward the light, so the side with the light should be a bit fuller but. It's still a really nice build.
You could make a fallen redwood tree
The roots could be sticking up out of the ground and you could make the tree in different stages of decay (you could make it still have leaves or you could make it rotting.) you could also have it fallen on the track on either side of the train, either explaining why it isn't going anywhere or making it like it's trapped and has to go into the portal.
Scar your base is amazing, the redwoods are the perfect backdrop and look incredible. Worth all that work… congrats

Scar, I have been waiting for this episode since you first mentioned you were going to build Redwood trees and let me tell you, I am not disappointed! As someone who can open their front door and walk into a coastal redwood forest, you did sooooo good!! The colors, the shading, and yes that last one where you didn't finish adding leaves was probably my favorite.

Wow, I'm close to 19 minutes into the video and I had to leave a comment about how much I LOVE the lighting effects on the redwoods. Every time Scar would turn around into a view of a few of the trees where one had this striking gash of light on one side and another would be shrouded totally, it just POPPED for me, and now I have to play around with lighting more going forward...
Also I recommend Xisuma's "my best build...?" episode from about a week or more ago if you'd like to see a good lighting trick used well.

everyone else mentioned the dates on them being wrong. I just want to point out that I think Cub might need to do a little look over what shops they flagged as pop-ups. Some of those looked good. If mud hut counts as a pop-up, then I think the rebel sand counts as a pop-up shop then.
the sand one isn't just the hut, it's the whole landscaping thing as well. it'd be like treating big wood's individual stalls as popups, or imperial gravel's shuttle as a popup

Just some of the ones they said were pop-ups seemed a bit like they were just saying it was a pop-up cause they didn’t like the design. Like the van shop thing that i don’t even know what it was for. It could be like a food truck so would still be a legitimate store and not a pop-up
@@raviel334 pearl's bone truck is a pop-up shop, as has been stated by pearl herself. iirc in an earlier episode (one of hers i think) scar even questioned whether or not it was even intended as a pop-up because of how good it is

Your redwoods are beautiful! I’m from Northern CA so I can attest to their accuracy. My only recommendation is that they grow in bunches bc the “mother” tree’s seeds drop and then new trees grow right next to her (like 20-30 ft away)
Did anyone else notice that the papers scar and skizz had 9/2 instead of 8/2. That means that the shops could be up to September not August.
