Back in the day I used to be an avid fan of KingDaddyDMAC, and omg the nostalgia hit I felt when I saw it again after it got famous thanks to grian brought back so many memories, as well as this video showing Season 1's old content. I haven't looked back at that stuff for ages. I do agree that the modded content would be another interesting thing to cover, I feel most of Grian's fans and new hermit craft fans never knew the modded portion existed. Also KingDaddyDMAC might not have did anymore stuff on the vanilla server, but that's because he had a few year period of being super active on the modded server. Give him the justice he deserves!
13:58 I haven't heard about pungence in years and I didn't expect to hear about him here. I played with him on xenoverse 2 for a video that's how I heard of him. What a small world
I appreciate the effort that went into this video, but I just wanted to clarify one thing. Xisuma has never personally rejected anyone's request to return. All decisions are made by the group as a whole. 🙂
That's the beauty of Hermitcraft and why it endures. It's a group of genuine good friends first and foremost. Little space for drama when it's you and your friends having fun.
@@edim108thats not the kind of controversy they are talking abt... they meant how most minecraft youtubers from that era of youtube turned out to be pedos
I imagine it's because of how selective it is. If everyone has to agree to get you in there's both little 'drama' and little whoops I'm going on a new list today incidents
Tangos tribute to TFC made me shed a little tear. An old friends pickaxe. With the description:"Worn down through years of use, this artifact will never be forgotten."
In the case of TFC, it should also be noted that that the hermitcraft website still has him in the logo, unlike other hermits that were removed. Although unlike the others who are solid and standing on the ground, he is partially transparent and floating near the 'F', just behind False and Iskall
That's what I'm saying, they don't kick people for inactivity, and the server doesn't get "full" they don't need to kick people to add more or refuse people because there's too many I mean look at Joel and Skizz, no we lost 1 hermit, but we got 2 more
I'll never forget Welsknight getting TFC a new mic to make his videos more accessible. Having watched HC since season 2, this was definitely a blast from the past.
@@noobmaster9292 I understand... I'm watching Welsknight's old video, the last time he made a castle, and was hanging out with TFC... Extremely nostalgic
You missed one honorary Hermit who also passed away this year. Jellie, the constant companion of Scar. She was with him for his entire journey and was even brought into Minecraft. RIP Jellie and RIP TFC.
Hello! Had a few folks recommend I watch this, just wanted to say thanks for all the time and effort put into this, it was an interesting watch for sure and very well put together! 😀 I wanted to clarify something if I may though. The way my departure from Hermitcraft was worded gave the wrong sort of tone - "...and was removed from Hermitcraft's whitelist" makes it sound like the Hermits made the decision to remove me from the group, when that's not what happened. I bowed out off of my own accord to pursue other things. I wasn't kicked out or anything like that 😀 I love all of the Hermits 😀
Thanks for clarifying, Python! These sorts of fan made edits can often contain quite a lot of misinformation (though I have to admit, the creator here did a pretty fantastic job for the most part... very thorough as well).
I didn't know you ever played on the server, Python. Do you think you'll be able to return now that you're moving towards becoming more of a Minecraft youtuber than a Terraria youtuber?
Hey, I'm sorry to say that I am not familiar with your content but I know that you are an MC legend with the best of 'em. Hermits often get asked why they started playing minecraft or who was the first person they watched play MC and if it's not Etho, it's nearly *always* you. o7 Thanks for being a huge reason behind my favorite SMP and content creators. :3
I may not know or remember most of the Hermits aside from the currently active ones, but I'll never forget TFC. That man was a legend, and I'm so glad to see people still supporting and loving him to this day. May he continue resting and mining in peace, wherever he is now 🤍
I find it interesting how Generikb's whole reason for creating Hermitcraft was because of Mindcrack's success and eventually left Hermitcraft after being invited to Mindcrack. That decision backfired spectacularly as Mindcrack would eventually implode (arguably because of his own actions during the B-team controversy), and Hermitcraft to take its place and become even more popular than its predecessor. There's definitely a lesson to be had there.
Yeah, Guude tried to get the MindCrack members to sign contracts where a portion of their channels earnings would be distributed to all the members evenly, basically a way for his inactive self to make money off the much more popular guys. It would also require them to do variety gaming under the MindCrack banner since he believed Minecraft was going to eventually die and was already barely playing.
@@Kozuu7 Well despite how the numbers are dwindling down, I think Minecraft is one of those games that just won't die, or if it does die, it will take another 30 years or so for it to completely be dead. Idk who this Guude person is, but that's so scummy to ask the other members of MindCrack to share their earnings with each other. There's just no fair benefits in that deal, it benefits the lazy people more as they can just not publish/upload anything and still gets some profits.
What was the b team controversy? also yeah mindcrack falling apart was really sad- once etho left I really knew it was done for. (Just remembered beefs jungle village oof nostalgia, or maybe that was on hermit i dont even know man lol).
The amount of actual misinformation in this comment thread is amazing. - Out of the 30 members MindCrack had by the end of 2014 (when it allegedly died), only 5 left: Etho, BdoubleO, generikb, paulsoaresjnr & thejims. BlameTheController left two years later for completely different personal reasons. - After 2014 a further 16 guest members joined (including DireDwarf, winner of Surviving MindCrack Island) - The server never 'imploded' -- season 5 continued for another year & a half after the supposed "death" of MindCrack. After this another 4 seasons took place (most recent was season 9 in 2021-2022). VintageBeef has participated in seasons 6, 7 and 9. I don't believe there is a current active season but there could be in the future. (EDIT - I've been informed that yes there is apparently a season 10 happening right now) - Even after leaving, Etho, BDoubleO & the rest still retained "VIP" status on MindCrack (i.e. they were whitelisted & could join at anytime) Etho proved this in VintageBeef's MindCrack Season 7 Episode 3 when he joined and helped Beef build a house. They could play with the MindCrackers; they just couldn't be part of the business aspect. - Most people agreed to the contracts because of the YT landscape in 2014. Back then to be monetised you needed to be in a multi-channel network (MCN) or chosen to be part of the RUclips partner program. It was insanely hard to get into partner program, so most opted for MCNs. Some MCNs like Machinima were notorious for being stingey, taking huge cuts of ad revenue, outright stealing content from people's channels and rarely ever helpful. As far as I know at the time Etho was the only member to be part of the RUclips partner program. - In late 2013 Millbee's channel was completely removed from YT because he accidentally had half a second of anime girl boob in a Katawa Shoujo let's play video. His MCN did LITERALLY NOTHING to help him out. He only got his channel reinstated because TotalBiscuit used his connections at RUclips to help him out. - After this Guude proposed a MCN that they would own and operate. This combined with a copyright agreement to stop people from using the MindCrack name & logo unofficially. - People were not "forced" to join the MindCrack MCN mind you. Docm77 at the time kept the MCN he was partnered with. The ones who left were never under any obligation to join the MCN. - Most of the MindCrackers are still friends. I say *most* because from what I understand the B-Team still harbour ill feelings to MindCrack. Etho is certainly friends with all of them, collaborating with remaining MindCrackers like Guude, PauseUnpause, Zisteau and SethBling well after the split. Paulsoaresjnr & thejims are still on good terms with all of them as far as I know. - The MindCrack Podcast is still active btw Hope this helps you learn a bit about MindCrack. As someone who has been a fan of the server for the last 12-13 years, it really saddens me how all these so-called "documentaries" about MindCrack have very little research and basically rely entirely on hearsay & rumor. Yes, HermitCraft is many more times popular than MindCrack. Yes MindCrack's time in the sun has long gone. Doesn't excuse spreading fake news.
Python is an absolute legend. Lot of people yell at him for leaving but he just got burnt out of big builds and multiplayer. He still has a really cool survival series now, you should all go check him out
Fun fact: TangoTek included an easter egg artifact in his Minecraft game, Decked Out 2. In loving memory of Ed/TFC, its known as “An Old Friend’s Pickaxe”, an homage to his love for mining. I did cry when Tango revealed it, and I’m sure you will too. Rest in Peace, Ed, we will always love you and never forget you. ❤
i didnt know how TFC died, just that he had died. i didn't know he suffered for that long. its one thing to have known a man for that long, who acts like the father of the hermits, but to know he suffered for so long had to make it even worse for the hermits...he lived life to the fullest that he could and played games for as long as he could. o7.
In his videos he shared a lot of his struggles - it made me so mad about the US healthcare system. Here in the UK, he would have had a ton of support and medical treatment for free and any medications he needed at a nominal charge. It really broke me to see someone suffer so much. He really did seem like he'd given up, he could barely play MC because his arm wouldn't stay in the right position, it was crooked and painful. So sad, he seemed like a really lovely chap. :/
@@catsandcrafts171 most people in America give up when it comes to healthcare- its sad...knowing this new season is the first season to start fully without him...
I'm not sure about Marc's timeline exactly, but Dinnerbone was hired to mojang after his stint on hermitcraft, not before. Dinnerbone was already a pretty famous pillar of the community due to his library of popular mods.
@@Wolfboy607 Dinnerbone was hired by Mojang in Feb 2012. Hermitcraft season 1 started in April 2012. He joined the server a couple of times towards the end of the season but spent more time on Mindcrack which was more popular at the time. He wasn't really a "hermit", more like a special guest.
the B team and chimneyswift were soem of the first minecrafters i watched back when they were doing the Attack of the B team mod pack (also how i learned of Cupquake cause Swift was friends w her and Red and helped them learnt the old witchery mod)
BDubs mentioned on his Imp and Skizz interview that Pungence is a master at RUclips optimization and has more subs than him, and BDub's most watched video was a suggestion of Pungence's (The Paw Patrol episode with his daughter)
@@TheyCallMeDio I've never seen Pungence, but they also SOUND alike and it's scary!!! I heard him playing Among Us with some of the Hermits a couple years ago!
Weird thought, but seeing some of these old clips really reminded me how the old skins look. For example, Etho and Joehills both have really simple skins compared to a lot of the other hermits but seeing them in the older seasons you see how they fit in with the majority of skins at the time! It was a different look back then and it’s cool to see how far something as basic as skin designs have changed
@@The_Calvary Looking at his namemc it seems like it's originally some kind of bird lol. He's also one of few people on this game that utilize opacity on the outer skin layer
This video really highlights one of the big achievements of later Hermitcraft: Reaching stability. So many people came and went during early seasons, but these days it's slowly growing with some hermits taking the occasional break.
Honestly I believe it’s a pretty key attribute to hermitcrafts success too. The hermits largely all having history with the server and each other not only improves the content that they can make as the interactions they have are improved as a result, but it also makes the viewers more likely to watch as they get attached to the shenanigans of certain hermits and the server dynamic as a whole. When so many people are coming and going, you don’t really get the long built relationships, especially when new players only really know a couple of other people on the server.
Fun fact: Pungence is Bdubs' brother and he appeared on at least one of the friday night among us stream (with Tango, Impulse, Etho and other hermits and their friends) a few years ago
Another fun fact: He sounds EXACTLY like Bdubs. I didn’t know who he was when I first watched that among us stream, and I was convinced someone had a voice modulator or Bdubs was amazingly voicing two players 😂
TFC has a vlog channel called Tinfoil Chef as well. He started out cooking, a Star Trek parody , vlogs, and his Journey to the Farlands content. He had a Child's Play Charity donation attached to the Farlands series. I'm not sure how complete it is, as it seems a little hard to navigate, but the Wayback Machine does have at least part of his old blog website.
I've been watching him since season 2. His content was always a different style from the others. If I remember right, he got the silver play button after losing his leg. I can't find the right one at the moment, but there is a unboxing video on his vlog channel.
Spoon did bad things, but as someone who never heard of him before now, i am impressed that he put out the only good public apology I've ever seen. Seriously, that kind of response needs to be the norm.
And then he actually did what he said, and disappeared. Didn’t just wait a few months before sneaking back online hoping people would just forget or stop caring (like MiniLadd pulled) or give his apology, ask for forgiveness and keep streaming. He just left. Honestly, I kinda respect that. Hope he learned from it and makes a better man out of himself.
Also have no clue who Spoon is or was, but I was coming down to make the same comment. Wish this was the standard, rather than the long, drawn-out dramatics of so many others.
Th fact that most of these people went on to either work for gaming companies or went to do their own thing is incredible. Good to see most of them r doing good in life
2:03 should have said "[...] and has done so for the past 10 years, which is an incredible accomplishment, he also rarely uses twitter, which is an incredible accomplishment"
Very interesting content and well researched. I didn't realize how many smaller hermits participated in the early seasons. I only started watching from Season 6 and onward, so I had considered JoeHills an odd and very unusual hermit, even if he's one of my favorite hermits. Unlike most of the other hermits, Joe has a full time job outside of content creation, and he lacks the raw skills in redstone or building that the other hermits have. He creates a lot less content than most other hermits, and his content is a lot less polished. It's really interesting to realize that he would have been pretty normal on the first season of hermitcraft. I remember quite a few people in Joe's streams asking how they could join such a popular server. His answer was always incredibly clear and consistent. He said that Hermitcraft invites people by unanimous vote, and it was unlikely anyone unproved would be able to get invited. His advice was to do what he did, and start a minecraft server with your friends, and work to make it popular by working hard to create content. Don't try to join Hermitcraft, make the next Hermitcraft. His answer makes so much more sense now that I know how many people came and went, and how many other projects people were previously involved in. It's crazy to realize that one hermit left to live on a boat with his wife.
a fellow fan of Joe! hes super underrated and an integral part of the hermitcraft team regardless of flashy skills. he's always there to help other hermits and was the only other hermit aside from Xisuma to be fully present in every season 1-10
Generik "apology" tweet is basically saying "I'm okay with people being upset" he doesn't even conceive the idea he did some bad behavior Trolling being in the hermitcraft is something, but using the fake chat with the fake messages of the hermits (even with swearing on it), is putting other people in the middle... Edit: Lol this blew up over night Just for context I thought the donations were obvious, so didn't even think of mention it, I only talked about something that could be seen as harmless when trolling but it's actually not okay at all, and the swear part is not about "swearing is bad" but all these people try to at least be the most pg possible, so it's putting an image on them at the same time when people actually believed in the chat (and the intention was to fool people that it's true) And yes it's just a Minecraft server but let's never forget all these people are real humans beings
Yeah personally I feel like it probably wasn't malicious and was just meant to be a harmless prank but it definitely should have been thought through better
@@Wodfamchocsod4 LoL yeah that's the one :) hadn't realized he had been a hermit did explain his odd (at the time) inclusion in Impulses rap about the hermits just thought he was there as animator :)

No kidding, spud was the one I found HC through back in season 2. I was heartbroken when he left, but eventually jumped over to mumbo (prob the biggest hermit at the time) who kept me engaging with content. Spread out from there
Only got into hermitcraft with Grian's arrival in Season 6 and have been mainly following his POV due to time constraints. But i appreciate every one of them for what they bring to the table, so to speak.
I highly recommend Hermitcraft Recap. That way you can see what the other hermits are up to in a condensed form. Plus the 3 that work on it are just awesome.
Same bro, my first SMP was with Grian's vid randomly popping up in my YT algo and got hooked. And I think it was S7? Not 6? His build was mocked by other hermit as it looked like a blender😂😂
TFC's passing was a huge hit to the heart. Not just his Hermitcraft videos, but I enjoyed his vlogs too. Whether a rant or something funny. We miss you my friend. o7
This was a very thorough video! Great job. Honestly, I was quite surprised to get a mention. It's insane seeing how far HermitCraft has come, from where it started to where it is now.
Seeing the references to the episodes lists on the Hermitcraft Wiki means a lot to me. I edit there a lot, and made the vast majority of the episode pages. I'm happy they were of use to you for this video!
hey you said edit on the wiki which hermit was the one that used creative on the server I remember one of the Hermits talking about it on a looking back at the old seasons?
@Amokra If I remember correctly, that was Shawn V Martin. He used creative to build his starter house, because he accidentally thought that Hermitcraft was a creative server, before switching to survival for everything afterwards
@@ninjamagic004 ok I knew they said it was contentious between them cause he was doing it off screen and saying it he was doing it in survival (might have been an X video)
I knew the section about TFC was going to hit hard. I followed along his journey and was actively watching his decline. He was a fantastic man, total grandpa vibes. He will be greatly missed.
PythonGB was the one who got me into Hermitcraft in season 3. I had been watching his Terraria content previously but once he uploaded his first video on the server, I fell in love with Hermitcraft. The things the hermits do on the server is amazing, whether that be epic mega builds, ingenious redstone, or hilarious pranks. This server will always have a special place in my heart.
That Red3yz one stings. He hardly had any time to join the server, yet still instead of spending that time making a build, or something he would have fun with, he instead spent what little free time he had, building things for the other hermits to use. A mob farm and a cactus farm he probably never even got to use, but I bet almost every other hermit did.
Fun fact: Zuljin left because he was bored of Minecraft. He became heavily invested in Ark: Survival Evolved which he routinely streamed as part of a Role Playing Stream Server.
The server they played on was called Pooping Evolved, and for a long time it was kind of like the Hermitcraft of Ark. It ran for at least 5 seasons and they also had seasons on each of the new maps! Sl1pg8r also played on this server and the two of them made a ton of videos together on the server. Former hermit KingDaddyDMAC was also on the server and I think I remember a couple of other former hermits playing on it. XBcrafted had a long series on several of the different seasons, and Keralis had a brief season on it too. I would love to see a server where the current roster of Hermits plays ARK!
@@thunderblaze9997 Oh interesting... I never knew the name of the Server, just watched Zuljin a few times. Welsknight, VintageBeef, and DocM77 apparently spent time on the server as well. Along with Lapis Lauri. I believe Lapis Lauri is someone I've seen Welsknight raid a few times here and there at the end of his streams.
The irony here The founder of the new smp, Hermitcraft, left the one he created believing the smp woudl have died, but but doing those bad actions. He made the smp even more popular.
Honestly, I don’t think it’s ironic. He left because he saw opportunity elsewhere, and that isn’t his fault. He wasn’t denied access because he left, either. He went through the process most candidates do and was denied when one or more members disagreed. He really didn’t do anything wrong by leaving the server. Idk about him personally lol, but what he did during s8 was pretty stupid
@@thataintfalco7106 It's also not really surprising that, humorously, Generik's not a great fit for Hermitcraft anymore. Hermitcraft's become a VERY PG, Friendly, and Wholesome place. However the way I would describe Genny is "curt". His sense of humor's not always alligned with other people's, including my own, and to be fair, I don't think that's an issue, but it does clash with the current Hermitcraft ethos.
@@KingTaltiai remember loving GB when i was younger, but would he fit with the people today? hands down no. he made, he was my favorite hermit, and sometimes i do go back and watch a few videos, reliving back when i was younger... even though he's a bit of a dumbass, he is also a lot of good fun in his own way

I think I've shed more tears over TFC than over anything/anyone else. My 10 year old son, to this day, bows his head and says, "rest in peace," whenever TFC is mentioned. On my server he (8 at the time, I think) built an island memorial for TFC and we had a memorial service.

Tfc will always be fondly remembered. While I didn't watch him long, just a season 8 and 9, I still eventually plan on going back and watching his earlier seasons(just gotta find time). He was the grandpa of the hermits. The Truest of hermits. May he fly high and may his mines be ever great and full of diamonds.
Honestly seeing how many people from ye olden days that were big names and eventually tapered out or disappeared, makes me only more grateful Beef is still around. Crazy how long he's been doing this for, and still loving his content.
Yeah. Same with Etho. I’ve watched Etho since his original survival world and I watched Beef since Mindcrack season 3. Watched Bdoubleo since Mindcrack season 4.
I think TFC was the first Hermit I discovered that I didn't actually know played HermitCraft, given how little he showed up in others' videos. Discovered his gaming channel after being recommended his main channel through a random RUclips recommendation. Was pleasantly surprised to see he was active on HermitCraft, and watched him sporadically since 2018. When he passed away, I saw the news and legit bawled my eyes out. That was the first time I'd cried in over a year. Rest in peace, TFC. May you continue gathering resources and tonnes of ores in The Great Branch Mine of the World Beyond.
i suggest you this thing called hermitcraft recap. its a team which makes videos about hermitcraft without being members, they are just fans. in earlier season (from season 4), they were critiziced for making videos mainly about bigger channes like mumbo&xisuma but glossing over smaller channels like zombiecleo&joehills and format was later changed so they do small tldr of EVERY hermits video of what happens between friday-friday, so if you dont have time for some reason and want quick recap, just watch it. but still you get full video by wathing each hermit invidually. It also explains why some hermits paid very close attention to this pixlriffs fella during s9 rift event.
Monkeyfarm was who actually got me into watching Hermitcraft when season 2 started. I still wish he could have remained. Also, Spum and sl1p were two of my favs. Skyzm was pronounced just like the word "schism" btw.
Thank you for making this video and doing a great job of not only keeping your facts short & simple, but also in a chronological way. I was wondering just the other day what happened to Monkeyfarm who was my first ever Hermit years and years ago. And the same for TFC who I will always remember being super sweet, so I'm sad to hear of his passing
I feel bad for Python. The youtube algorithm absolutely screwed him over when he was a bit indecisive. I have a lot of respect for the fact that he's staying true to himself despite all this and still uploading regularly.
@@dewaldsteyn1306 To be fair, in those kinds of situations it's not uncommon for the abuser to deny it and it just turns into a he-said-she-said that becomes even worse for the victims, if it really was as cut-and-dry as the video made it seem. There's at least some good in admitting your mistakes and urging people to believe your victims.
DMAC is who introduced me to Hermitcraft! He used to make Pokemon content, and pivoted to Minecraft. He likely had a hand in inviting Marriland to the server, since they’d do a lot of content together and were friends before joining the server. Marriland also has a super popular Pokemon website .
Funny enough Dmac was the person who introduced me to ark instead. I never even knew he played minecraft until i saw one of his old Lets play videos in my recommended. Pretty crazy how one person can have such a varying and diverse impact on people :D
It’s been so long but I’m like 90% sure he introduced me to it too in season 3. I remember watching a single player survival series he did and loving it so I wouldn’t be surprised if I found HC thru that too 😅
Talking about TFC just makes me cry so much.... I never really watched his content, but he was part of hermitcraft like everyone else, just as important. Episodes after his passing just felt sad
What Generik did was so scummy of course but it also just shows how petty he still is. He tried to make it out like he respected the choice to not be invited back in but that "prank" just proves he's still bitter about not being allowed back.
I'll be honest, I would have disagreed with the decision not to let me as the founder of the SMP back on the server, too. It feels a little odd to not let the founder back in only a few seasons after he left just because he had been on a minecraft hyatus. However, the way he went about it with this dumb pranks left him in a very bad lighting and prevented the Hermits to ever overthink their decision.
@@MaryGershwindo remember the reason for his denial to return is only speculation. Nobody knows why Generik wasn't allowed back, accept the involved patties
@@MaryGershwin It's worth noting that from my understanding, the original Hermitcraft SMP was a very different entity from what it is known as now, and the reason Generik originally left was because he was basically ready to end the SMP. Hermitcraft as it is today, at least IMO, is FAR more a creation of Xisuma and the other Hermits who stuck around and developed it into what it has become, rather than the original founder who left when it was in a decline.

I remember Monkeyfarm, he had that crazy base he made back in the day, "Space Mountain". I think I used to watch DMAC back in the day too.
Honestly, I got chills when my name was mentioned too lol. It was so long ago and I was (sadly) so inactive on the server, I'm surprised I got a mention!
It would be cool if there was a comeback episode of hermitcraft with most of the people that just left hermitcraft (ones that stopped going on, not ones removed)
I started watching during the start of Season 6, after Grian left EVO SMP. Miss seeing Python and Biffa. Loved watching TFC, hilarious watching him shop at Sahara.
Definitely check out his city skylines videos. didn't even know he was once in hermitcraft before i saw this videos, but his cs1 and cs2 videos are very relaxing and impressive
Hello first I just want to say great video you did a great job explaining all the former Hermits. So far I have only noticed a few mistakes, the biggest being at at 7:41 (the reason why VenomKisser/FlowerChildTV left). She was actually removed from the whitelist along with several other Hermits at the time due to inactivity and not due to the lack of content/videos. Now I don't fault you for that mistake because this has been a rumor for some time now (I don't know the original of this rumor but I think the Hermitcraft Fandom Wiki is the reason it became popular) and it took a lot of digging on my end to find out why she actually was removed. (I have proof that what I said is the reason she was removed and I plan to edit her wiki page when I have time)
Another small "mistake" is at 9:18. Kiershar originally only unlisted his episodes but in July 2021 RUclips privated them (along with thousands of other unlisted videos from before 2017 (including Spumwack's episodes)). I can also confirm that Kiershar does still have access to his RUclips channel because in late last year he unlisted his Hermitcraft Battle Royale videos.
The final "mistake" I want to point out is at 25:15. IAmSp00n actually did play on the server a bit longer but these were all exclusively livestreams. The only thing I know he did during these streams was the construction of his base which was a glass window in the side of a partly hollowed out mountain. @@spookidoxzsghost In the past they used to actually. As I said I have proof that players like VenomKisser were removed due to inactivity (my proof is of Xisuma explicitly saying that inactivity was the reason they were removed)
That is A LOT of Hermits i have NEVER heard of, as it stands i only follow about half of the Hermits now because i can not keep up with as many as there are. i always admired TFC as the only actual Hermit on Hermitcraft.
I’ can’t see why people are up in arms about that whole thing, it was a funny prank and heck it wasn’t even that elaborate he could’ve gone all out on it but he kind of just did a one day troll thing.
@@JBBrickman I think he went a bit far, but having watched enough of his videos I know him better than to assume he was being petty. He was just being silly and thought it'd be a laugh, Genny's always been a bit of a troll. It was in good-faith.
It feels like an older man not understanding the significance of the internet, in no way do I think he meant to "scam kids". The Hypno tweet especially rubs me wrong, seems like some Hemits gave Generik some perspective and he understood his mistake pretty quickly. If they talked it out in DMs prior he would of had the same apology without any of the speculation or drama.
It absolutely was petty,@@KingTaltia, but one can hardly blame him when every stream was being hijacked by obnoxious milk-drinking booger-eaters demanding to know when he would be on Hermitcraft and if they could join the server.
thanks for this video! its such a coincidence this showed up shortly after remembering how much i used to love hermitcraft. i remember being like maybe 14 or 15 watching topmass streaming, tweeting a joke fanart and later he uses it as a thumbnail with joehills following me after(i ended up deactivating that account) you can still see the thumbnail art!
I found hermitcraft because of Keralis, but not for his other minecraft videos. But i was also watching Bdubs, slipg8r, and a few other past memebers at the same time without realizing they had all once been on the same server. And from watching keralis and bdubs on hermitcraft i slowly branched out to the other hermits. Hermitcraft was the only minecraft i watch until recently where i watched joel, jimmy, and their friends some because of Grian's life series with them. Its a crazy interconnected web.
Interesting that you either didn't know or simply didn't include the fact that GenerikB stole Iskall's "Vault Hunters" code and spun up his own clone, which was not favorably received by the hermits.
Not to forget that he eventually got kicked out of mindcrack because he wasn't disclosing sponsorships and essentially scamming kids. Dude is a grifter.
Didn't old man Willekers did something similar and tried to steal code from mindcracks server with nividan and thats why he was never invited either as a member and broke friendship with guideboulderfist?
@@ernestoarce7984 oldmanwilikers (Rob) was a terrible person, burnt every bridge. He wasn't paying people and pocketed a bunch of money from playmindcrack. Lots of people spoke out against him and dude had some serious mental issues.
@@Skypost4ever He had a great Tabletop RPG series going after and he squandered it by making the same mistakes again, and burnt more bridges which brought several people he at one point collaborated with closer together. Leading indirectly to HcJustin and Chiblee to gain an audience by leaving his content group and joining Mindcrack's/Northernlion's circle via games like PUBG and Mario Kart 8 initially. Rob's actions are paritally what lead to Coestar's and PauseUnPause's decisions to both get a full time job again as well. Rob's TTT group effectively became Coe's TTT group slowly over time bringing in Mindcrack mainstays up until the middle of the pandemic I believe.
"the fact that GenerikB stole Iskall's "Vault Hunters" code and spun up his own clone, which was not favorably received by the hermits." lmao what are you talking about? The hermits don't gaf about VH, why would they? It has nothing to do with them. It's Iskall's baby. And there is *zero* bad blood between Iskall and Genny. Iskall has raided Genny a few times. Just another comment full of misinformation/disinformation.
I knew about Pungence because of other videos he made, namely Dragon Ball Xenoverse, and knew he and BDubs were brothers. But I had no idea he was a former Hermit. I stopped watching him years ago around 2017 as he was making videos on games I wasn't interested in. Also, very surprising to hear that Dinnerbone used to one as well. Crazy how the world works. Tinfoilchef is definitely a Hermit that won't ever be forgotten about. May he rest peacefully. o7
This was a very cool and informative video! It's amazing how many of these players just, started doing other things instead of being there some huge drama. TFC story is always so sad to hear. Both him and Technoblade died due to cancer in the same year. May they rest in peace :(
I think the main reason Generikb wasn’t brought back initially was because he wasn’t actively making content let alone Minecraft. They generally like people making videos and just didn’t want to add him and then have him not do anything most of the season. I don’t think his little joke made it better unfortunately. I’d love to see him allowed back one day because I liked his videos on Mindcrack back in 2013.
This was such a great video! I've technically watched Hermitcraft since season 2. What I mean by that is I was super young and didn't realize there were multiple seasons! I only watched Mumbo Jumbo and randomly watched his season 2, 3, and 4 videos! Now I watch nearly every hermit. Thank you for documenting the history of this legendary server!
and even the abuser seemed extremely tame from how this video layed it out. encouraged people to belief victims instead of denying it entirely. he personally felt somehow tamer than Generik just based on how this video layed it out, not sure if abuser did even bigger things. his apology felt geniuine and feels like every apology should be like that and just left entirely instead of vanishing for couple of months and then returning silently. He may have just started different channel with voice changer but who knows, at least he started fresh. Fly high TFC.

I wanted to clarify something if I may though. The way my departure from Hermitcraft was worded gave the wrong sort of tone - "...and was removed from Hermitcraft's whitelist" makes it sound like the Hermits made the decision to remove me from the group, when that's not what happened.
- After 2014 a further 16 guest members joined (including DireDwarf, winner of Surviving MindCrack Island)
- The server never 'imploded' -- season 5 continued for another year & a half after the supposed "death" of MindCrack. After this another 4 seasons took place (most recent was season 9 in 2021-2022). VintageBeef has participated in seasons 6, 7 and 9. I don't believe there is a current active season but there could be in the future. (EDIT - I've been informed that yes there is apparently a season 10 happening right now)
- Even after leaving, Etho, BDoubleO & the rest still retained "VIP" status on MindCrack (i.e. they were whitelisted & could join at anytime) Etho proved this in VintageBeef's MindCrack Season 7 Episode 3 when he joined and helped Beef build a house.
- The MindCrack Podcast is still active btw
Hope this helps you learn a bit about MindCrack.

Spoon did bad things, but as someone who never heard of him before now, i am impressed that he put out the only good public apology I've ever seen. Seriously, that kind of response needs to be the norm.

Joe has moments like that, and then he completely remakes Doc's intro but with howdys in place of the electric guitar. It's great
a fellow fan of Joe! hes super underrated and an integral part of the hermitcraft team regardless of flashy skills. he's always there to help other hermits and was the only other hermit aside from Xisuma to be fully present in every season 1-10
Generik "apology" tweet is basically saying "I'm okay with people being upset" he doesn't even conceive the idea he did some bad behavior
Trolling being in the hermitcraft is something, but using the fake chat with the fake messages of the hermits (even with swearing on it), is putting other people in the middle...
Edit: Lol this blew up over night
Just for context I thought the donations were obvious, so didn't even think of mention it, I only talked about something that could be seen as harmless when trolling but it's actually not okay at all, and the swear part is not about "swearing is bad" but all these people try to at least be the most pg possible, so it's putting an image on them at the same time when people actually believed in the chat (and the intention was to fool people that it's true)
And yes it's just a Minecraft server but let's never forget all these people are real humans beings
Yeah personally I feel like it probably wasn't malicious and was just meant to be a harmless prank but it definitely should have been thought through better

Plus the 3 that work on it are just awesome.
man... just reading that is nuts
I was a viewer since near the end of season 4, and I thought I was late to the party
Same bro, my first SMP was with Grian's vid randomly popping up in my YT algo and got hooked. And I think it was S7? Not 6? His build was mocked by other hermit as it looked like a blender😂😂

Thanks, Static!
Oh you already saw this, disregard my comment on xisuma's video then.
X did not take control of hermitcraft. He steped up as an admin, big difference.
Great video. A note about red3yz is that he made drum and bass music for his episodes, his tracks are on soundcloud, and they are absolute bangers
RIP TFC o7
Thanks for the history lesson
Fun fact: Zuljin left because he was bored of Minecraft. He became heavily invested in Ark: Survival Evolved which he routinely streamed as part of a Role Playing Stream Server.
This was the same for Sl1p. They found way better success that way for a while.
That's where DMac went too
The irony here
The founder of the new smp, Hermitcraft, left the one he created believing the smp woudl have died, but but doing those bad actions.
@@KingTaltiai remember loving GB when i was younger, but would he fit with the people today? hands down no. he made, he was my favorite hermit, and sometimes i do go back and watch a few videos, reliving back when i was younger... even though he's a bit of a dumbass, he is also a lot of good fun in his own way
@@StarlightLexie Yeah, he's just a goofball, but the issue is that his brand of goof, through very little of his action, has become a bit of a sore spot in this age on the internet
I think I've shed more tears over TFC than over anything/anyone else. My 10 year old son, to this day, bows his head and says, "rest in peace," whenever TFC is mentioned. On my server he (8 at the time, I think) built an island memorial for TFC and we had a memorial service.
I just want Mumbo to take a break rather than make a couple episodes and burn out.
he did that last season no?
Yeah he took like a 9 month break from hermitcraft last season
@@Scripzure Yes. He went away for a few weeks, and came back. When he came back, he talked about how he almost quit RUclips. Then he took another break like right after that.

Rest in peace TFC. I remember when his passing was announced and all of the touching things the Hermits did to celebrate his wonderful life.
As a new viewer, I would love if you could make a similar video about the current hermits and what they have done in past seasons
If you actually go into tfc's season 9 mines there's some very touching memorial branch mines with signs left by the players
I never actually watched TFC, but that legit made me tear up. That's really sad. He's younger than my parents. Rest well, soldier.
I feel bad for Python. The youtube algorithm absolutely screwed him over when he was a bit indecisive. I have a lot of respect for the fact that he's staying true to himself despite all this and still uploading regularly.

Funny cause I didn’t know about dmac until pooping evolved
Funny enough Dmac was the person who introduced me to ark instead. I never even knew he played minecraft until i saw one of his old Lets play videos in my recommended. Pretty crazy how one person can have such a varying and diverse impact on people :D

I had no clue that Biffa played Hermitcraft, I only know him from his current stuff, the cities skylines stuff
What Generik did was so scummy of course but it also just shows how petty he still is. He tried to make it out like he respected the choice to not be invited back in but that "prank" just proves he's still bitter about not being allowed back.
amen, that was incredibly scummy of him
I'll be honest, I would have disagreed with the decision not to let me as the founder of the SMP back on the server, too.
@@magellan6439Based off of what he has done in public, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was because he had previously been a negative presence in private.

(Fun fact: Spoon was actually removed from the Season 2 whitelist when the Hermits moved to New Hermiton (same time as several other Hermits like VenomKisser) due to inactivity but he requested to be rewhitelisted not long after and was re-added.
The hermits have stated multiple times that no one was removed for inactivity
@@spookidoxzsghost In the past they used to actually. As I said I have proof that players like VenomKisser were removed due to inactivity (my proof is of Xisuma explicitly saying that inactivity was the reason they were removed)
That is A LOT of Hermits i have NEVER heard of, as it stands i only follow about half of the Hermits now because i can not keep up with as many as there are.
i always admired TFC as the only actual Hermit on Hermitcraft.
if generik wasnt allowed back on the server before, he's Definitely not going to be allowed back on now. he sabotaged himself lol
TFC's death really hit everyone in Hermitcraft from players to viewers. He was a loveable man and still deeply missed.
“Always dug straight down” yeah that’s good advice to grian now
Interesting that you either didn't know or simply didn't include the fact that GenerikB stole Iskall's "Vault Hunters" code and spun up his own clone, which was not favorably received by the hermits.
Not to forget that he eventually got kicked out of mindcrack because he wasn't disclosing sponsorships and essentially scamming kids. Dude is a grifter.

I think the main reason Generikb wasn’t brought back initially was because he wasn’t actively making content let alone Minecraft. They generally like people making videos and just didn’t want to add him and then have him not do anything most of the season. I don’t think his little joke made it better unfortunately.
