Female shooter here. I have the DD M4V7 super light weight. I mounted a light, optic, back up sights and the warrior poet sling. It's perfect for me! Love your channel!
That sounds like a great rifle and I love the Warrior Poet Society slung you've got on it too. Very cool!
By the way, I think you'll appreciate this, my wife beats everyone we invite over to shoot skeet with us. Just crams us all. And, although I was a sniper in the military, I'm a rifle guy, not a shotgun guy. She's the man when it to those,, LOL! Be safe, well, and happy. 😅
@krm9403 it sounds like your wife is super fun! The rifle is awesome, only downside is the price. I'm thinking of getting a 20 gauge shotgun. Many blessings fellow Warrior Poet 🙌
@PlainJane Oh my, I had just written an answer and it disappeared. Bloody hell. Ah well.
Anyway, she is fun. She's now a mental health counselor, but in her first career she was a zoologist. She went on an expedition to Belize, before it became a tourist destination. Her responsibility was to count jaguars. Crazy, right? Jaguars have the greatest bite strength of all of the great cats.
We've known each other since we were 15 in high school. She was my HS GF's best friend, and she and I were friends. Just friends, though we had 2 friend dates and we had fun together.
Then, I moved away and joined the military. She went to university and got married and had a daughter. That's when she was a zoologist.
Time went by, she got divorced. She eventually bought this farm. Thirty five years after we had last seen each other, I saw her on Facebook, so I began chatting with her. Then we talked on the phone. This was November. Then she invited me here for New Year’s Eve. I said yes. Then, when she hugged me at the airport, I just knew there was a Cherokee name that was right for her, Avenasa, which means my home. I told this to her. She was touched. We fell in love. We got married. We still love each other so much. We know this is it. There's nothing else. We have talked about it, and both agree.
Pretty amazing, right? It all began when we were 15.
Excellent choice, Ma’am!!!
As long as your husband drives you too the range, I'm down with it (Jokes jokes, chill people)
I went BCM mod0 "gunfighter" lower matched with their 16" standard/government/?6020? Profile. Printed my own mags years ago because laws (same reason I got the rifle, I'd prefer a better sude arm and camera system but the law said I had to get an "assult rifle" early this year) with a cheap Ozark rear site and jimmy rigged sling but she shoots better than I do!
I choose BCM over DD because it was the last lower in my town, and the upper was possibly priced wrong (it was in ironsites and they gave me a free handguard)
Haven't seen Chad nerd out on a Caliber in awhile kinda miss him 😅
what you did last night for jared and the GOA was amazing, thank you kind sir!!
I needed some good old fashioned gun talk. Thanks.
I personally like AR platform, 5.56, 16" carbine, mid length gas, with all the goodies. Then the AK47 Zastava with a side folding stock. Then my perfect after that is Henry side gate 20" 44 mag lever action with ghost ring sights. Those are my top 3.
There are too many different applications and considerations to pick a perfect rifle but if I could have only one then a good 16"AR in 5.56 is my go to for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The American Do it all rifle.
money can't buy happiness, but it can buy a good lever gun, which is kind of the same thing.
Id prefer a ar platform in 308. A 5.56 is worthless past 600 yards
AK103 7.62×39 for the hoods
AR10 308win for the woods
Marlin 1894 45Colt for dem O'driscoll Boys😂😂
I'm 63 with osteoarthritis and I use an AR-15 and a 22-250 wich work for me. The 22-250 is a great all around hunting rifle.
do you mean a ar10 in 22-250? i see bear creek arsenal has some uppers with fast twist too. temped to see that or a 243 1-8. hows yours shoot?
Not a fan of barrel burners like .22-250.
@@blakevangundy9562 I believe the lady said “an AR -15 AND a 22-250” not an AR-15 IN 22-250
A .rifle in between 243-..280 caliber would probably serve you better on heavier game, .22-250 bullets are too small and light to really cause instant kills on larger animals, you aren't getting a headshot in the perfect spot everytime, you don't want to make something suffer for a long period after you shoot it. The thought of that hurts my feelings a bit and all you needed was a 6ARC, 6.5 Grendel, 7.62x39 or 9x39 with quality ammo loaded hot.
IT should be perfectly clear to all red blooded patriotic Americans that the Daisy Red Ryder with the tactical compass and Tasco scope is the undisputed perfect rifle for all one eyed people. Ammo is cheap, plentiful, its stealthy silent, light, maneuverable, easy to maintain, high capacity, deadly accurate sub hour of angle accuracy out to 10yds, and anti 2a friendly given lever action but still fairly quick to cycle.
Unfortunately for this discussion , the 12 gauge pump shotgun is all ‘ round best. Hunt small game, switch to slug barrel and hunt big game. Perfect for home protection.
What constitutes the "perfect rifle" totally depends on the intended use and personal preference.
Hence the discussion...
Its a rifle that checks every box
Off topic but, It's awesome seeing how suppressor use is becoming more common every year!
Howdy folks, I'm 69 years old and have been shooting since I was 8 having been taught by my grandfather who was a competition shooter. Military, police, contractor and civilian service shooting is my experience and I am very familiar with many different guns and calibers. So, with that being said, what is the perfect rifle?
It's the one you have and KNOW how to use effectively (shot placement). You would be surprised what I have shot with a little 22lr. However, if I had to choose one rifle and only one for everything it would be the 25-06, bolt action, 26 inch barrel and a 1-8x40 scope.
If I had to pick one caliber it would be 25-06, or .243 win. Very capable rounds. Light bullets for small game or varmints. Heavy bullets for medium sized game. Very versatile. I agree being capable with it is more important than anything else.
As a fellow gun nut, and being raised by an old school cowboy like my dad was, I was influenced a bit on my firearms, I definitely want a semiautomatic, mag fed rifle.. I always like an AR and I’m not a snob about it, I like ‘em all, .556. I was in love with my Ruger Mini 14 though too.. those are my top probably .. but I like a good long range 308, 30-06, and I like to play with the old Marlin 336 30/30 also, just love ‘em . Carbines, long rifle, brush guns, it’s tough to pick.. I got love for them all.
I like the 6.5 grendel. You have basically a 308 special and decent parts and ammo availability
1000 yard gun with quality setup. Name a better AR 15, I'll wait.
@@kurtmead2066 right! And still lightweight and handy
Exactly. .308 special. I like that, totally gonna steal it.
With all of the 6ARC talk I'm surprised the 6.5 Grendel wasn't mentioned until the viewer comments. Grendel has a bigger variety of bullets with more potential stopping power for big game or defense still using a small frame.
That's what I said...
Ruger Ranch 6.5 Grendel topped with Vortex Viper HS 2.5-10x44. Good up close and good a little further away.
I wish the 6.5 grendel would have gained more traction. Ar-15 platform super low recoil and very capable out to 1000
AR platform, 18 inch barrel suppressor ready, 6.5 Grendel, piston system, Leupold 2x10 Mk 5 HD primary optic with an offset Eotech red dot (night vision compatible), and a detachable thermal for night ops, B. E. Meyers MAWL, full size A2 stock, spare parts and oil, 2 points sling, suppressor detachable BUIS. Done.
These were the best videos. Eric and Chad just bs-ing about different topics.
I really like the ruger mini 30. Can take down larger game, used in battle, used in self defense, ammo is still light enough but packs a little more boom than the .556.
@kevinhart46 good points.
@Kevin Hart Relax dude. Time to switch those soy latte's to decaf.
Fun fact: 762x39 has the same wound cavitation as 556, shorter effective range, worse trajectory and accuracy. The only advantages it has over 556 is barrier penetration and subsonic cycling.
@@austinhuber3131 the 7.62x39 has double the load of a 5.56. That doesn’t give it any more power than the 5.56?
@@austinhuber3131 ya barrier is a big deal and brush deflection so ya it’s a lot better if your a fighter. That’s a very big deal
Been a long time since I seen chad on a video had to come way back to find this one.
These two have such a good dynamic.
16" desert tech mdrx in 556 with a 20" 308 conversion.
in 556 configuration: aimpoint red dot, surefire flashlight, and some sort of lightweight K size can.
in 308 configuration: vortex razor 1-10, harris bipod, and probably something like a deadair sandman.
The best rifle for any situation is the one you've trained with. If you haven't trained with it and know it forward and backward then it's just another hammer in your toolbox that you've never used.
Get good with 3 rifles ranging from .556 to 308 and then you've got it covered for most situations.
@Kevin Hart I have no idea where you came up with this rant??
You can't get any other gun except the one you mentioned?
Guns are like tools, they each have their place depending on what the mission calls for.
If you're going to use weight considerations you'd be way off from military standards which would be 80 pounds of gear and a rifle. Where did you come up with 40lbs?
If you are my target and my shot is at distance I'll drop you where you stand with a 308 before you ever see me. The 308 is just one choice in a sea of long-range calibers that have even better performance at distance, but you go ahead and do what you want cause it's still slightly a free country and see how that works out for you.
P.S. I've put consistent shots on target at 800 yards with a 308 and it's really not any heavier than lugging around an AK as far as the weight of the gun and ammo.
This was a fun exercise guys. Relax and take a breath.
@@bobbie4862 WORD!!! The boys triggered each other, ha ha.
10/22 with 16' bull barrel, and scope. For defense I always grab a pistol, and handheld Malkoff light. If I could only have two guns, it would be my 10/22, and my Glock 19X.
The 6.5 Grendel would be absolutely the best it's got over 1,000 lb of knockdown coming from a 20 inch barrel at 400 yd
This is always a fun topic! I think it’s very subjective to where you live. I actually built mine recently. Living in rural Ohio I have miles of flat ground and more deer than people. My idea was a rifle that just works every time and that I can easily fix or maintain. I built a 308 AR on Aero M5e1 receiver set with a faxon fluted 18” SS barrel with a black finish. I used a titanium muzzle break and adjustable gas block with a buffer that compresses to absorb a little extra recoil. I’m saving up for a vortex razor 1-10 to put on it. So far, it’s the smoothest shooting rifle I’ve owned and with the stock collapsed it’s not too long for the 3 gun courses I’ve taken it to. I only have about 1000 rounds through it now but haven’t been able to get it to hang up yet.
Think it really depends on your environment. Urban environments, an AK or AR are more than enough. Montana mountains, you’ll probably want something that can reach out further.
Like bolt actions and lever actions for that classic flavor
Yes! I use a front sling swivel (for ease of separating the upper), but the back is just strapped to a slot in my magpul stock. Really like that setup. Spectre slings are great BTW, highly recommended!
Winchester Model 70 “the Rifleman’s Rifle”.
Keeping it gentlemans classy.
Hell yeah.
Holland and Holland side by side double rifle in .375 H&H.
I own:
Ruger 10/22
Stag Arms 15 Retro 20" (AR15).
Winchester M70 30.06.
If i could only keep one it would definetly be the Winchester.
Greetings from Sweden! Love the channel! 🙏
Man, so many good options. I’m going to go with my IWI tavor 7. .308 in a small package with 16.5 inch barrel
Robinson XCR, 6.8spc, 12.5" barrel, LPVO w/ offset mrd, surefire scout, dbal and qd mount with socom mini.
The gun you can shoot accurately. and reliably regardless of action type. To quote my Russian friends "perfection is the enemy of good enough".
THE BEST RIFLE IS ONE YOU KNOW INSIDE & OUT!!!!!!
YOU CAN RUN IT PROFICIENT & IS RELIABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a professional conversation.
Of all RUclips gun channels
Iv8888, the best
Gun gripes with chad and eric are where I am most happy with my gun videos
My original option is .308 bolt action for best all around Action and caliber.
Must be lightweight, reliable, moderately accurate, suppressable, capable of day or night use, and have ease of spare parts in SHTF. My go-to is my 12.3” Hanson barreled 5.56 with a Vltor A5-H2 and Sprinco Green. It runs the Dead Air flash hider for my various Sandman variants. Using 75-77gr makes up for most of the ballistic issues that 5.56 deals with. I run the Aimpoint T2 on a Unity FAST mount. I optionally run the EOTech 5x magnifier with Unity QD mount. Easy to deploy quickly for mission. Just keep in pouch in pack. I run the BCM MCMR handguard for best weight to rigidity. Up front I run a top mounted Streamlight TLR-VIR II for white/IR light/IR laser. Without the can or magnifier in its sub-8 pounds. It can do everything day or night, just falls short for extreme long range. Also runs the Geissele SS-X.
Big fan of the 13.7 556 rifles these days. Obviously not taking it out hunting but in terms of fun and personal defense, hard to beat.
If ammo isnt the issue, ar-10 with drop in trigger, acog on .243 win 14in barrel with a second upper with a lvro in .308win 18in barrel. Quick lock suppressor ready flash hider on each. A bolt on 20ga under barrel shotgun would also be nice
I'd go for .243 with 16 or 18" barrel and not even mess with .308
@@jarvislarson6864 for most stuff yes, but around here we have black bear, grizzly and moose. Iblike the little extra oomph from the .308 for meeting a bear.
Man, I always hated this question when selling firearms. My answer was always “the one that works best for you.” Personally, if I was limited to a single rifle to do virtually everything, I’d say an AR10 in 308. The only reason I say 308 over 6.5 is because the ammo for 308 is usually easier to find
I've always leaned towards the scout rifle.
This is the correct answer.
You combine your confidence when holding it, with your performance track record, and with the known versatility of the item, then you get perfection.
A sub 6lb .223 bullpup with a good manual of arms that accepts ar-15 parts for caliber conversions. The other week someone was posting on Fosscad a preview of a design that looks wicked.
OHHG YEA YEA THE BULLPUP FM15 set up!!!!. Yea that was interesting. If that was a monolithic upper.
Love the fact you brought up triggers… my preferred AR trigger is the MBT2 from LaRue Tactical… about 1/2 the price of the SSA and I’d say really close competitor for feel. Nice crisp 3-4 lb 2 stage trigger.
You guys should do a video on either the 6.5 creedmoor or 6.5 grendel in full auto ars to see if the guns run smoothly or not i dont think ive seen anyone trying to do it
How about a MK18 set up, with a MK12 upper in a backpack for quick deployment from a CQB set up to a DMR with just swapping the upper
I'd love to see a 270 vs 6.5 show that talks about how close the cartridges are out to 800m. Break down rifle and ammo cost, and talk about if there's enough difference to make a difference between them.
After a healthy debate I’ve come to the conclusion that Hands down the Lever action Marlin 1895 chambered in 45-70. - made by Ruger
Shoot that at 800 yards and see how well you do lol
For MAG guys in America? AR15 and ACOG with larue QD mount, light, peq box, maybe with noob tube. Include functional bayonet and mount for it. Autorifleman should grab an AR RPK by Klein machining or something like that, 24” heavy barrel and bipod for more fire.
Perfection is in the eye of the beholder.
If my MDRX was a pound or two lighter, for instance, I'd consider my specific example to be pretty perfect (zero issues) and well suited for me. Or a Tavor. Throw on a Romeo8t and a 5 or 6x magnifier? Excellent.
I appreciate the handiness and modularity of bullpups, as well as the 16" + barrel. Value those aspects a lot more as a suburbanite than most others.
@Kevin Hart No one said this had to be for some apocalyptic situation. Just "your" version of the perfect rifle. The fact you include a 22lr conversion in several comments tell me everything I need to know about your experience or lack there of. Stay with call of duty. This was supposed to be a fun discussion, you don't need to be a DB.
beautiful set, awesome content, Big Fan of the channel. Well done gents
I always liked the scout rifle concept. Something in 6.5 creed, or 260 remington with a 10 rd detachable magazine with the ability to load from stripper clips. With a forward mounted scope. Also with a nice sling. Put a lightweight titanium suppressor on it. 22 in barrel
A man of interesting taste! Sounds like the start of an excellent deer and hog rifle. 😊
Loved Chad's answer on barrel length. I have said myself 18 inches is the best length for ballistics and accuracy.
Ive always wanted a gas piston operated "battle rifle" style rifle because in my mind it bridges the gap between an AR and a bolt action. Problem is the good piston driven rifles tend to cost you a few body parts sold on the market to get.
DI gas guns are just as reliable now adays bro. Parts are cheaper and easily fixed
@jonnhyappleseed7498 Yeah, I know. I just want one expensive gas piston rifle lol. Preferably in .308.
CAR-15 with fixed carry handle and lightweight profile barrel, 3x ACOG mounted to the carry handle, Geissele SSA trigger and MK8 handguard, Surefire mini scout turbo light, blue force gear sling
the pull through kits are great for hunting too for when ur going through/under a fence or tree and plug the barrel
A slick, skeletonized, foldable AR-10 chambered in .308 with a carbon fiber lower, full auto and birst fire mode, collapsable stock with a soft end, a very long barrel (24'' or more for maximum velocity, threaded, titanium) with an almost equally long carbon fiber hexagon pattern handguard with picattiny rail above and below, lazer dot optic, a vertical pistol grip at arm's length (I have short arms) and a textured pink paintjob applied to the lower and upper, except the barrel, which stays either black or metallic (I don't even like pink that much outside of rifles for some reason). If I'm hunting with it, I'm only gonna be shooting hollow points as they do way more damage and don't overpenetrate.
The perfect rifle is the one you personally like the most and can afford. What other people think doesnt matter.
14.5" or 16" AR15 in 6mm ARC or 6.5 Grendel, good flow through suppressor, IR LAD, Surefire Vampire, Vortex Razor.
I like how he gets his haircut and stops drinking expensive import coffee and goes right to " you dont need all them gadgets sonny"
It's such a vast subject. There are so many answers depending on your needs. This could be an entire series. This episode should have been the perfect ar.
I appreciate you guys, bigtime!
I own my 2 favorite rifles of all time and I've had them for quite a few years. One was a present from my wife, which was quite a surprise because the next year she bought me the dream car I had wanted since the year 2000. A 2003 Mercedes-Benz CL 55 AMG. With a 5.4 liter, supercharged V8 engine producing 493 bhp and 516 ft-lbs of torque. The interior is sheer luxury, while under the hood is raw power. The car is a German Muscle Car. Talk about a great gift! Ok, back to the perfect rifle.
She bought me a Rock River Arms LAR-15 Elite Operator. I think Rock River Arms makes the most durable, accurate, and easy-to-manage rifles. Since we have our own shooting ranges here at our farm, as long as I've gotten my intractable migraine somewhat under control, then I love to shoot this rifle. When she took me to check it out, not only did I shoot the RRA LAR-15, so did she. It wasn't until SHE shot the RRA LAR-15 did it get final approval.
My next favorite rifle is an FN Herstal Mauser 98, in 30-06. I have mine sitting in an Archangel stock, which I happen to love. It's a love/hate relationship with the Archangel stock, and I just love mine. I just added a Sig Sauer BDX 2.0 system to this rifle which is a really interesting juxtaposition. The Mauser 98 rifle design goes back over 100 years and the Sig Sauer BDX 2.0 system is the latest technology.
The main reason that I got the Sig Sauer BDX 2.0 system is so that I can relive my sniper days when I was a young military sniper and could shoot the eyes out of a mosquito at 500 meters.
The reason that I didn't buy another rifle is that I've been shooting the 30-06 round since I was a 10-year-old. I know it very well and the round is available everywhere, which I see as a huge advantage. A lot of my former sniper buddies give me a hard time about sticking with my 30-06 round. They think I should be using 308 or 338, etc, etc, etc ... I'll stick with my 30-06, thank you very much.
So, there are my 2, one battle rifle and one sniper rifle.
All yours folks ...
Being a lefty and taking everything into account. A dt mdrx in a mid 6mm cartridge, 30 Rd mag, PA plxc with an offset red dot, full power ir laser ilum, shorter weapon light and a good can. Reloads can be trained, good adjustable gas block, the weight out front would keep the muzzle down being a bullpup design, also the mdrx has that upgraded forend with the integral bipod
So glad to hear the XCR thrown out there. Great rifle.
The mosin nagant kos the perfect rifle. This rubbery bolt handle, the paino on a sand beach trigger... "mwah" chefs kiss.
Hey gents! Thanks for the answer! Seeing is I have a nice 6.5 Grendel AR with an SSAE in it, I feel like I definitely made the proper choice haha. I need to see it in action for hunting, but what I determine from ballistic tests, it's a fantastic rifle. Thanks again for being a bastion of intelligence, humor, and strength!
This past fall I fielded a 6.5 Grendel AR, 20" barrel, polished mil-spec trigger, Leupold VX-1 2-7x optic.
I took two whitetails at 90 and 180 yards using Nosler 120 grain pills. Having shot 30 cal and shotguns all my life, it felt amazing being able to see my impacts in the scope and know I had a kill shot.
That being said, I might still be looking for better constructed bullets or higher velocity cartridges for better terminal ballistics. Both my shots were heart-lung area, but it still took about 30 yards of running before the animals went down. Exit wounds were not hugely bigger than entrance. I know my anecdote is not a substitute for real data, but my takeaway is to keep it within 250 yards for deer sized game with this rifle to maximize humane and efficient harvesting.
Why not go with the 6.5 Creedmoor?
@@jasonnichols7813 6.5 Creedmoor requires a large frame AR. Grendel meanwhile fits in STANAG magazines and standard AR15s with only a bolt and barrel swap.
Of course the Creed is a perfectly fine round, and if you're just hunting medium game, there are plenty of lightweight bolt guns and handy rifles you can use.
However when we're talking "perfect do-all rifle" I think there's an advantage to being in the widely compatible AR15 ecosystem. Larger AR10s however seem to have much more pitfalls if you're mixing and matching parts.
@@jasonnichols7813 as silly as this sounds, I don't like to do the in thing. I liked the ballistic rating and flatness of the Grendel, plus it's still the AR-15 package size.
@Reid H cool....I see now makes perfect sense
I've built an AR-15 in 223 Wylde with an 18in white oak armament DMR profile barrel and rifle length gas system with Lantac low profile gas block, Geissele SSA-E trigger, Lantac BCG, Billet Lantac upper and lower set with lantac handguards and their Dragon Muzzle break, Magpul pistol grip and Rifle stock, Vortex Viper PST gen ii 1-6x24 mounted with Aero Precision titanium scope mount, a tad on the heavy side overall but for engaging anything within 600 yards its a very accurate workhorse that looks nice.
DDM4V7 with ACOG, weapon light, quality sling, and Witt Machine SME muzzle device.
My choice is POF Revolution .308 16" gas piston, Trijicon vcog 1-8, suppressor, bipod. For carrying rifle magazines, first aid kit, and the necessary trifles - IC13 INVRT bandoleer in full configuration. Excellent Grab-and-Go system
The IWI X95 gives you the best of both worlds. A 16" barrel in a short package and combine that with a Geissele trigger, Eotech XPS2, and suppressor now that equals a fantastic option, imo.
Yeah but it’s a 4 minute gun with match ammo
@Iraqveteran8888 my Canadian Tavor shoots 1.5 moa pretty consistently with m855.
My tavor is a 2 minute or less gun. With decent ammo. Maybe you got a lemon. Mine shoots great. Only flaw I see with it is its weight. Chunky girl.
Man, you are doing a great job with the fitness journey Eric. You can tell you lost some weight. Also great video boys.
Currently my HK 762 in 16". Although my wish list is Dead Air suppressed, XM-157 Smart Optic, side-mounted solar RMR. I also digress.. if the SIG M7 were avail. in my area now, I'd trade in due to future tech ammo, standard folding stock, and suppressed for the win. Love to have a bag full of NV goodies too if $ were no object.
I have a Type 56 SKS that I put an aperture sight and a thicker buttplate on and it is the most reliable and easy to shoot rifle I have.
im going to get an x95 tavor in 300 blk for my first rifle because to me it seems like the perfect rifle. what do you guys think?
I recently got a K&M Arms M17s308, topped with a Vortex 1-8, it's pretty close to my ideal rifle, has a very good trigger, excellent suppressor host. I'd love to get a 18" barrel in 338 Federal for it, then it would check all my boxes.
I just got the dd m4a1 riii the first thing I did was change the stock to magpul it was crazy I picked up both the rifles I had and the cheap one was more comfortable and it was all magpul furniture so I swapped everything I could back to magpul
Hey Remington. Bucket of bullets blew my SR22 pistol up on the 3rd mag out of the bucket. Very dangerous. I keep my barrel clean. It was a double charge. Felt like a 9mm and really loud
For me it would be the tink arms parun x16 in 6.5 grendel with a LPVO 1-8x.
Short stroke/gas operation
Adjuable gas block
Folding stock
6.5g is a super capable round
12.5 gunner profile barrel.
That hatsan blitz 30cal is perfect, no need for gun powder, brass,
just air & projectile
.277 Wolverine looks pretty good to me, just a barrel change 👍
The most universal center fire rifle for a jack of all trades is a Tavor 7 in 308 with added iron sights and a quality 3x9 scope on quick disconnect mounts. A good sling and a good walking stick for use as a shooting stick doesn’t hurt. If they chambered the Ruger SFAR in 243, 7mm08, and 338 federal as well as 308 a good argument could be made for it.
I like the tavor, I own one in 5.56. But they are very heavy.
I think for me it would be a 16in AR15 in 6.5 grendel with Hera cqr stock and foregrip a 1-8 or 2-10 lpvo a flashlight and laser sight combo
I have a good selection of rifles to choose from in my safe. If my house is burning down, I'm saving my daniel defense dd5v3 with the 1-10 LPVO. I'm about 5'11 200 pound guy who stays in hunting shape so the weight isn't an issue especially with my sling!
My ACR is my go to rifle waiting on my SBR but long term I’ll have an 11.5” 5.56 barrel and a 10.5” 300blk barrel with the quick change system I can swap in less than 60 seconds. Running a Geissele Super ACR trigger and an eotech with g33 magnifier. I might eventually get a 6.8SPC barrel as well
If you’re concerned with length then use a reflex style suppressor that sleeves over the barrel like the AEM5 or AEM30
Great video and discussion to be sure. My idea of the perfect rifle would be a AR-15 with a 16-18 inch medium weight barrel thats been properly accessorized in 6x45 if ammo wasnt a issue since I reload it already. Realistically AR-15 with 16 inch barrel in 300 BO.
I have been toying with the idea of "creating" a pump action, AR, with folding stock and eliminating the gas system/buffer assy.
@David Stevens…do a search for the Troy Industry’s optic ready pump action AR15 😎😎😎
@@bisleyblackhawk1288 will do, thanks!
Akm. Got the rail mount on the side so I can switch optics out with either a scope or red dot. 7.62x39 you can use on deer or hogs within 250 yards, or 300 if you really feel like it. Alg trigger, Kns piston so I can mount suppressor and adjust gas. Regular sling. Bayonet lug a bayonet for cannibals
I love my 12.5” 5.56 AR but this brace controversy has it sitting at home now. I just carry the lightweight 16” 5.56 rifle I built off a KP15 monolithic polymer lower. I love it but it’s not quite as handy in tight spaces as the 12.5. Great video as always
Easy solution. Put the 12.5 upper on the kp15 lower.
@@KretinD all the weight is in the upper and that would be an illegal sbr without the proper paperwork or a pinned and welded muzzle device or pinned and welded suppressor for 16" overall length barrel
The perfect rifle is the one you train with
I believe different tools for different jobs
But HCAR modern BAR 30-06
LVPO
Suppressor
Just a heavyweight heavy hitter
18” 6.5 grendel for the win thats what i hunt with medium profile lightweight set up
After thinking about it......i'd go with the SIG spear in the 6.8x51mm..the .277. Piston gun(preference), zippy ammo(game or people), mag fed, short. Optics, irons, supressor etc. Assuming ammo availiabity(my area lots of trees/woods forest/things to shoot to eat)
Good luck finding ammo lol
For me it took a few shy of 1.5dozen combinations over 8 years before I am finally happy to fit my needs.
As I finally got the last handful of long guns where I’m finally happy. Zev/Mega oem’d receivers & rails.(prefer the billet SOLGW broadsword or SOLGW/fcd lowers(believe identical/nearly identical minus the duck marking). Wedge lock/drive lock rails.(if I could get hands of parts for a complete ambi hodge set up I’d probably be just as happy. As while H&K/LMT/KAC are good guns, having the identical gun as every one else who hates money has, just doesn’t appeal to me at-least for small frame ar’s. As I highly modified the last 3-4 rifles to ensure I’ll never confuse my gun with someone else’s at a class.)
Few I love use those. Rainier arms mountain mod2 SDM fluted qpq 4150 barrel/Criterion core 13.9” or SOLGW 13.9” qpq 6.5G. LPVO’s, offset dots,(one fixed FSB, exps&g33 w/Kac rear micro 600m buis). Leaving towards badger/unity/geissele/Reptila mounts, PA PLx-C(gen2) is fave optic. Properly assembled n such, High output light, extended arisaka mount/ds00 rail cap& UT HotButton, BFG or WPS padded 2 point sling. Sandman K/Sierra5/SF Socom/Socom mini. I like snug GB’s(non-adj), plus v7 inconel gas tube. SOLGW/BCM/dd bcg’s. Geissele CH & triggers. Buffer A5+ rifle length super 42& BCMs new buffer.
Though honestly if I couldn’t only have two rifles I’d take me recent 13.9” 5.56 w/k can & my 13.9” 6.5G(only if I had ample ammo stock. As match .308 175g hpbt is much cheaper than good 6.5G so for 90-95% of scenarios I’d go with one of those two above.
For me its a 14.5 AR with an eotech and magnifier. Sturdy mlok rail and a nice ambi lower. Does everything well.
Garand Thumb did a rifle test both freezing and mud featuring the SCAR 17
Sig Rattler .300 blk titanium suppressor, Holosun optic with solar panel, surefire mini scout with pressure switch, magpul ms4 sling
I would say it would take at least three rifles to cover almost anything, providing you become proficient with each but If I was limited to one, I'd say I would say an AR-15 in 556 and a conversion kit for 22LR and another in the most powerful cartridge conversion avaliable for it. Of course you would have to work at being proficient with each one. But that way you only have the difference between the three rounds to work on if you already have the gun down-pat!
I heard you read a comment about the 458 SOCOM setup. Saying that it lacks capacity. That you preferred 30 rounds. If you buy a "90 rounder" snail drum, you can load 30 rounds of 458 SOCOM 😎. Happy hunting!
Man I've been really running my cmmg mk47 mutant 16inch rifle hard lately and she don't care Hella good rifle and 7.62x39 isn't going anywhere anytime soon packs a punch can stretch its legs a bit and can be found worldwide
Probably the PSA ar47 16" barrel ff mlock tube, folding back up irons, 1x6 scope and 20rd metal mags. Caa Collapsible stock ms2 sling and Steel ammo. This would be good for everything under the sun. Now if the moon is out gotta put the surefire x300 that goes on and off no tools.
