And damn good firearms for the money. Hell it's not like your in the shit.
I hate when u care a good optic cost that much
M&P Sport Ar15s are terrible. They’re reliable yea, but use a shitty twist rate, a proprietary BCG that kinda sucks, carbine length gas system. Nope. Buy a PSA for cheaper with a 1/7 nitride barrel, mid length gas system and a mlok rail. Also buy a Mossberg 500 or Maverick 88 over an 870. Remington has become trash. Their quality went down the hill when they sold the company.
Switch the Remington for a Mossberg 500, then yes.
@@bandolando3265agreed on M&P sport. I have one and hate it. Total waste of my money
“Gun guys” can be the worst sometimes. If you don’t drop $3k on a bare AR15, you wasted your money 😂
But you “hate gate keeping”
lol we said 132 times to get an Aero.
How many internet videos have had a good report on BCA? LOTS! I have had issues with some of you before, over stupid stuff, I was shocked at the other two, I haven't seen this side of them. Of course they aren't the only ones as I used to tangle with similar on the High Road. I can't believe how many others spend their time trashing 1911's, M1A's, Garands etc as garbage. Personally since I collect surplus Rifles, the only one that didn't function was a Rasheed, what Egypt built before the Maadi. My MAS 49/56 shot everything. A FAL built from an Israeli MG kit malfunctioned in the full auto setting, I didn't realize because the markings were in Hebrew. An SKS locked up because I put the recoil spring in backwards, I don't know why, an FN49 wasn't adjusted. The list goes on. I don't have a BCA upper in 7.62 x 39 like broke on Reno May. My third AR build would not cycle properly because I used a lightweight bcg because it was red. I fixed it.
@@180SecondIdeasthe lower for my first build was an Aero A5 (ar-10), GunBuildersDepot for the complete upper & all the rest. 550 ish for all that plus about 100 for the lower. She's been good to me, I've got a backup bcg since it's a nitride; the barrel though is CHF & chrome lined; 4150 steel i believe though I'll need to check that.
@@180SecondIdeasfacts 100%, aero is the best!
PSA !!!!!
Ar's are stupid easy to build. Pick your components. Spend your money in places that matter based on your goals. If you want to throw lots of money at an AR, start with the barrel and bolt.
Are you gauging components as you go and properly staking and torquing.
@@alanmeyers3957 Yes.
Buy PSA receivers and just put in a quality bcg and barrel. That's it
@@jakecheck3225 Personally I prefer a 20”Faxon Gunner profile barrel. Can hunt and do standard farm work with it. Also let’s face it, these channels are media influencers not actual gun builders.
It makes sense the bolt locking into the barrel extension is fairly important.
😂😂😂😂😂 its not what you buy but how you use it. Gun snobs are the worst. Some of us don't have funds to assemble an expensive rifle that sits there waiting, all in the hopes of one day using it.
I have the funds but can't see spending $2500 on a DD or G when I can build an upgraded Aero for half the cost.
Aero is awesome!
Trigger snobs are too, yeah bullpup triggers suck but they work. What gets me is people who spend $3000 on a HK firearms when there are so many clones with comparable quality.
@@mhcaffey120I don’t see buying a DD as a snob purchase. Especially if you are buying a firearm to actually bet your life on. If you are buying it just to shoot and not out of need then I agree, you don’t need to spend the money on a DD.
@@gifthorse3675I disagree 110% on your comment. A trigger is well worth the money spent on the better ones.
It was Garand Thumb who did the PSA burn down. It actually ran 6K rounds mostly full auto and suppressed... with no maintainence! Funny him and his dorky buddy weren't really impressed at all but the comments were packed with those who found it very impressive as did I! Best part of it is PSA would totally warranty it!
They sent him a curated gun. I've had 3 PSA guns that don't perform anywhere close to the one he reviews.
@@jsaction33what are some of the problems and what models
The analysis on the carrier and upper receiver after a few thousand rounds showed some not great wear according to the guy they had come in to check it out
PSA's quality control is shit...
@@jsaction33 they had some QA issues early on that are not nearly as prevailant now, they make lower mid range guns at exceptional prices. Mileage may vary with all things but personally my experience with PSA has largely been positive, especially as a first AR, it got me out and shooting which is their whole mission statement.
When I bought my first AR-15 in 2022, I went to the local pawn/gun shop and said "I wanna buy the scariest-looking AR-15 on the rack." They giggled and went straight to the one I still have and use regularly. It was a used Diamondback DB15 and had an old Vortex Sparc red dot. Sighted it to 2 MOA and it's held there ever since, through over 2000 rounds and counting. One of these days I'll actually build an AR from scratch (0% lower and upper) and make it exactly the way I want it, but that DB15 will always be my love child. Hopefully it doesn't break now that I bragged about it. lol
U meant you sited it at 200 yards not moa. Moa is minutes of angle, used to describe how much a bullet is off target or a correction, or measurment
You can spend thousands of dollars of a gun it won’t make you a better shooter. Just makes you look cooler at the range
Hears a fun question for our esteemed expert panel... Have any of you ever fired a round at another human being??? " Well NO.. BUT when i do, it will have cost me $10,000 to do it.. AND that will make it SPECIAL." 😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah I hear you, lawyer retainer fees are expensive 🤑
When i finally escaped CA and moved to a free state, the first thing I did was to remove all the CA compliant parts. Having a regular pistol grip on my rifles were amazing.

Personally, I have been a .45 ACP since I first fired one as a kid back in the early 1960’s. Having said that my EDC is a G-30 & my rifle is a Hi-Point 4595 PCC. I went this direction mostly due to the area I live in I really don’t need a lot of reach for a rifle and economy of only having to stock one type of ammunition.
First gun Mossberg 500 590 Maverick 88. 👍
Great choice 👍
Absolutely then get a long barrel and an 18 inch barrel upgrade furniture to hogue
PSA is a great starter build kit. The quality is there but not Gucci at a decent price. Yes CMMG are great and Areo is too. Roynd count on the PSA for a burn down was over 1000 rounds with no cleaning or oil. I forget who did it might have been Grand thumb. That was mag after mag after mag. Most people will not run a gun like that. But I thought that was impressive as i have seen this dine with high end guns that didn't do any better.
I have several PSA in various calibers. I've only had one issue with a bolt carrier group and PSA took care of it with a very good turn around and customer service was very good!

This is a really cool and fun collaboration…I learned a lot and I really enjoyed the overall vibe. Well done gentleman!
advising a first time handgun buyer to get a handgun without a manual safety such as a glock or sig, etc, is a recipe for disaster

I own both high end and low end AR platform rifles and some of my favorite in my collection are builds I did with Anderson lowers and PSA upper builds. I’m not embarrassed to say it. I trust any of my builds to run when needed next to my high dollar rifles.
I agree. I have a few Anderson lowers and franken uppers. What matters is the barrel and the BCG, nothing else.
@billn911 I've dealt with people talking smack about my "budget M&P 15 Sport II" not being capable of sub MOA when I can easily and consistently drill the bullseye with that thing at 100 yards with 1/4 moa 3 shot groups with 55 grain ammunition. After watching this "Armed Scholar" with his tone and speaking and how the animation comes across, he seems to me to be Uber light in the loafers and probably needs to lay off that nasty SOY LATTE nonsense. 😮
You're not getting any 1/4 MOA three shot groups with any 55 grain fmj. That ammo is only good for about 2.5 MOA.
And I've been doing this for three decades, so you can't B.S. me.
@@warbuzzard7167 not true in the slightest, I still have the target and it's consistent. I can pull sub MOA with 55 grain with my Mossberg MVP Varmint also so don't try to B.S. me.
My highest end upper is just stupid money expensive. I don't trust it any more than a BCA that I have stripped down and rebuilt correctly.
Before i would stipple a grip, i like to run a "Talon grip" to feel the texture and decide if it's what you want or not.
I HAVE 1 BCA UPPER WITH A 20" HEAVY BARREL IT'S BEEN RUNNING FOR 3 YEARS
Me too. It shoots half inch groups with 77 grain, and about 1 inch with m193.
I have bca 7.62 upper changed the firing pin and extractor never had a problem with it still running good after 3 years
Love my Ruger 556. No malfunctions outside of cheap steel case (which jams every brand eventually). Upgraded to a PSA flat faced trigger and that thing is a beast!
Yep, mine has been good to me and I love it. Around 550 rounds through it
My first was a bushmaster XM15 A2 rifle. I eventually got an ASA side charge handle upper with a Luther walther barrel(that upper was pricy) to put on the XM15 lower. 25 years later, that is still my favorite combo to shoot.
I had several inherited old guns. The first I bought for myself was a Glock. Once I had a shotgun and an AR, I figured I had the basic defensive set. Everything past those were for fun, interest or some specialty use.
I seriously can’t remember the last time I watched an entire video especially this long. Great stuff guys
Budget Bully here. 😅.
M&P 15t = replaced/ upgraded the trigger, BCG, Magpul furniture, muzzle break and buffer assembly. Runs flat, smooth, and consistently. -Rounds through 550-660. (Brass, Winchester American eagle, pmc and hardeny eats them flawlessly).
Greatlakes GLFA-15 x's2 = parts =
Same as M&P . Same results. There are not as many rounds threw, for the fact that these GLF-15 16"WYLDEs are relatively new.
All of my 16" rifles are equipped with buis , red dot w/ 5x's magnifier, or 3x. Tac light and magpul furniture. Each rifle cost me about $2,250 to finish. Buying them straight up from D/D or BCM or even Aero precision would have been 2x's as much. Build is thrill. Buying is crying. Good luck to all..let no one judge yoir wallet and or taste. ❤

I have a BCA 458 SOCOM have 2200 rounds no problems as of yet
Forget the rifle.... this man paid (i assume) for 2200 rounds of 458 socom
@NoNo_IStay yes I paid for the ammunition and it's California prices
Shhhhhh. How dare you speak positive about something you have first hand experience with 😂
One huge issue with the 458 SOCOM having a lot of issues with functioning is because there’s no real sammi spec yet. This is why Tromix chambers are flawless. (They designed the round)
A lot of these guys make way more than any of us, becoming further removed from reality today
2200 rounds?!?!?!? Tell me you won the lottery without telling me you won the lottery. I have one too, side charging 458. No more BCA from here on, your firing pin will break first, not even 80 rounds in of HUSH sub sonic.
I have 5 BCA uppers and so far {4 years} and a few thousand rounds they all work. But I just shoot casually so if I did competition perhaps I would invest in a better quality upper.
My current Aero build is about 70% Aero parts. With a MRO on top the total comes out to about $2000. I consistently see ARs of a variety of brands around the $700-1000 range without an optic. Just based on that I would consider Aero very comfortably middle tier not necessarily budget. The value of Aero is the lack of cost due to not being fully assembled by Aero. If they assembled complete ARs I could see them priced much higher.
LOL, speaking of BCA. I got an upper from them that the barrel nut wasn't even hand tight on. in the box the hand guard was canted. It was like they didn't even try.
Awesome discussion fellas!
My first ar was an m&p15. It had the 5r rifling and melonite coating 1/8 twist. 3k rounds and still shoots straight and solid. I have an hk mp22 also. Fun 22lr gun. Just bought a p320. Doing a strike industries chassis on it. I love pdw.
Doing a complete build gives you a ton of necessary knowledge. And is darn fun.
Have several psa ar’s and an sig 516 ar and they all run great with no issues my psa was a little over half the price . Quick talking down psa also have a dagger and two Jakls no issues with any of them
Great discussion Gentlemen! I'm a new gun owner circa Sept. 2022, I brought several firearms to-date and I'm a budget bandit. I live in a metropolitan area with pretty tight gun laws..I a have diverse set of AR parts and complete firearms. PSA, Aero, FM Products, HK VP9, GP Stribog, Wolfpack Armory, Sar USA, Walther PDP, Ruger, Tisas and Canik! I brought my pistols based on law enforcement and military usage. My AR strategy was a decent lower and budget upper. I'm now swooping out triggers, gas blocks, bcgs and comps, not because of failure, but because of performance! I had on failure issue with firearm and my budget was under gassed, do movement of the gas block, it's fixed now. My optics are good brands Holosun, Sig Romeo, etc. I did have one failure with my HK407 (Holo replaced under warranty).
Training is the "force multiplier" at the end of the day and I've took rifle/carbine and pistol courses while also joining 3 gun clubs with range access and diverse backgrounds.
What are you using it for is my first question. I normally point people to the Remington 870 with a slug barrel and bird barrel (hunting and home defense). Then a Glock 19 for carry. Those 2 cover everything someone can do and both run.
I can’t in good faith recommend Remington anything ever since they went through bankruptcy and got bought out. The quality and quality control is no where near the same. Buy Mossberg
@@bandolando3265 I get that. Most of my stuff is 80s and early 90s when you in NY could only hunt with a shotgun

Interesting it was mentioned about pins not fitting but every drop in trigger I have used is locked in with more than pins, so is that really a failure? BTW biggest issues ive had with quality were actually CMMG bcg's.
I agree about the gatekeeping. I will say if asked, 'what variation or calibers should I consider?' my answer would certainly be: 9mm, 22LR, 12ga, 5.56 NATO, with .223 REM for good measure.
I'm building my first build now.
I decided on an Aero upper & lower. I decided on a stripped lower because I wanted to have a better idea of how it goes together.
I did make some upgrades above some basic items for comfort.
I have iron sights atm.. but will be making a $500 investment into an optic.
Geissele URGI 14.5 mid-length p&w upper w/spring and H1 or H2 buffer is worth the money if you have it to spend. On an Aero Lower with LaRue trigger. Will run forever.

Glocks go KABOOM. I trust my life to a pair of CZs, both of which had short reset disconnectors installed by a very competent gunsmith. Both have had at least 10K rounds through each. Between the two, there has been only one malfunction that wasn't ammo related. My worst gun was my first 1911 made by Charles Daly.
CZ P10c often travels with me and is a runner. Wouldn't be afraid to trust my life to it if need be.
Cz is more proven and I've had much better reliability opposed to a pos Glock
@@livefreediefree2515much better reliability how? Glock has the numbers to back up their reliability. I highly doubt you could get numbers from CZ that are anywhere in the same country so to speak! So I would love to see this proven data?!
I have a CZ P10-C "optics ready" that I use for competition shooting(not allowed to carry here in Sweden), and I've ran thousands rounds through it by now. Not one single malfunction so far.. zero👍 The only "complaint" is that the slide release is a bit stiff out of the box. With use, it will ease up.
I remember going to my club and shooting my DDM4V11 and another member came and started shooting his 3 or 4 ar15 he built from 80% lowers. He gave me shit about how he probably made all of these AR's for the proce of my one DD. Not a single one of his gones could make it through a magazine without having an issue of some sort. I said at least my functions and he didnt like that and left lol
When you build one, you make sure it works. Hopefully, you learn common problems. That's it! My reward is success not building something cheaper.
Lol I went past this.. My first was my Springfeild 1911 Mil-Spec.. 😂
The right to be opinionated ,and to be gun snobs is also guaranteed .
My recommendation is usually a BCM upper build as the goal. You can snag blemished uppers at a nice discount occasionally.
Don’t cheap out too much on your optic setup. I see that too often. People buy a DD or Noveske and put a cheap Sig MSR or worse on it.
PSA also make pretty good uppers, or complete rifles, if you want something that works well but is generally cheaper. And if you are unfortunate enough to get a lemon their CS is solid from what I have heard from others, they will get you taken care of
Hk sp5 too. 3500 for stamped steel construction, plus ita not military spec. Only has one takedown pin on the lower receiver instead of 2. Better get Zenith or MKE MP5. Half the price and is true milspec.
Love the podcast
I enjoy when folks mention weather. In Florida, it is always raining/humid so I went with the p225 MK25 ( I have a Glock 19 also). I'm guessing it will run in the wet. I have had my share of Palmetto stuff and it ran great. I still have Anderson and other "Poverty Pony's" in the gun safe, but my go to is a Wilson combat lower with a DD M4A1 upper. Runs all the time, every time. Not a snob, but if I'm gonna trust my life to something I'm willing to pay for it.

Great content yall. Just went through this with my parents. Finally decided to invest in their defense and ran them through some testing. When i built my first rifle during covid, for the most part i built it myself (the all the lower parts, the stripped upper, BCG & Barrel) and i had my local gunsmith put on the gas block, gas tube, muzzle breake, handrail, and make sure everything was torqued down properly because i didn’t have all of the tools. The only tools i had was the Real Avid Hammer & Punches + Smart Bench Block from amazon, multi tool, and my PC screwdriver kit.

Only question. Why would a red dot not be the go to in a rain storm. It rains constantly where I live and I basically only shoot in the rain. Red dot on everything. No issues. Someone explain
Rifle or pistol? Open or closed emitter?
In my experience my holosuns and romeos on a rifle are fine in the rain. Open emitter on a pistol seems to distort the red dot when rain gets in it. You end up seeing multiple dots.
Wish list. Nods. Giggle switch. And if you mount optics to carry handles you always have backup sights
Competence is key when assembling firearms and achieving reliability. Can buy the most Gucci stuff out there, and assemble an AR that won’t run. Aero Precision parts in the hands of a competent person equals a nice overall value.
I only train in indoor ranges (0-50yrds) because that’s all I have access to. We had one outdoor range near me, but the state (NY) permanently shut it down.

Got all the needed tools, assembled everything and checked all the proper tolerances. They all run great. I'm sure not everyone can do that, but we three managed it with not a lot of issue. I do agree t hat if you're not absolutely confident that you can learn the basics of AR assembly, get a built rifle. But if you can figure it all out properly, there's a lot of joy to be had in assembling your own.
One thing different today is that you can buy a decent built gun for under $700, not that many years ago it would have been double.
The one gun I will never sell is the 1st gun I ever purchased which was a Ruger P90DC it has NEVER malfunctioned. Even running my first reloads and brass that was never sized after 5 or 6 reloads and still never failed to this day.
That is my first pistol also and I still carry it sometimes but it shoots great and runs great since purchased new in 1992! I've been carrying concealed since that date as well!
@@goodcitizen64 Got mine in 1991 and had it listed on my ccw as well.
I have 2 ar builds, 223 and 308. Both are PSA complete uppers and lower kits with a "ghost gun" receivers, and I gave put a ton of rounds through both. I gave no complaints about either. I guess it all depends.
I have high end ar’s like fn and Daniel defense but my favorite is my psa upper with a BCM lower
For brand new AR owners buy a super cheap AKA very affordable complete rifle from Anderson get a vise a bench block a handful of tools and start taking that thing apart and putting it back together. Learn every part of the rifle, then you can do whatever you need to do where is high value stuff and have a good armor to check your work and help out when you're over your head. I learned by replacing parts, but once you learn the rifle it is basically an assembly of parts any better understand the parts and what they do, you will make better choices about what parts to use based on why you need it. I'll be honest as I got very into aftermarket improvements, but the most important thing is to generally understand your rifle and how it works and then use it a lot, and get good at that
My first build was a palmetto upper with a built by me Anderson lower (with the wrong tools) and it’s been 100% with thousands of rounds through it including steel case 556 suprisingly 😂
Smith and Wesson M&P Sport is a great starter rifle tbh
I have 1 BCA upper, 5.56, no issues. No BCA 7.62x39, which seems to be the problem child, I considered one. No side charging upper from them either, which I do not need anyway.
I am the Randy they mentioned and my bca is in 5.56 and just plain Jane and I have had a few hiccups to say the least. My video comes out Sunday
My BCA upper has wayyy more than 200 rounds in it and it works perfectly fine lol the gun community needs to get off their high horse, for most people the cheaper brands are totally sufficient these days
I cheaped out on my Sub Gun and got an AP5 instead of the H&K SP5. So far I don't regret that decision. I got a nice optic and tons of ammo and range time with the cost difference. My first rifle I went with a Daniel Defense, my second rifle I went with the Sam Arsenal AK, and my first Shotgun I went with the Beneli M4. Handgun wise I bought two Glocks and two Sigs. I just got into firearms so I'm sure I'll regret a purchase or two but I think I've done pretty well so far. I'm going to build a 300 blackout pistol next. Already got a geissele trigger and charging handle.
I have a BCA 18” heavy fluted SS 223 wylde barrel. Works great. I took a “gamble” back in 2019 and figured what the heck. Shoots sub MOA with X 185 ammo. Guess I got lucky.
My first AR was an Anderson and will get another. They build their own parts and are a parts house for a lot of other builders. Never had an issue with mine love their stainless trigger pack
I am in love with my new frontier armory ar hands down one of the nicest firearms for the price. Esp the no pins to drive and there is a huge difference between a double stack prodigy and a glock or any high quality. Like a motorcycle helment your life is directly related to the price of your helmet some people have $100 heads some people have $1000 heads
My first AR was a self built Aero with other Aero level quality parts, with help from an experienced friend. Had a Swampfox optic.
Second build was a Radian lower, VLTOR upper, Noveske barrel, LMC bcg. Its my forever build.
I learned my lesson about changing internals
I have a FN 509T and that trigger is just heavy and gritty compared to all my Walthers, Bul Armory SAS Tac 2 and p30L
Got the apex striker and trigger to “upgrade”.
The armor could t get the pin out for the trigger but replaced the striker.
Got a dozen light primer strikes out of 100 rounds when I had 3000-4000 rounds through it stock and never an issue
Put the OEM striker back in and building my round count to trust it again
Wish list. Genesis 12 ga, semi. Mossberg 590A1, pump. Still running my Savage Recon, unfortunately discontinued. 2 Great Lakes Firearms rifles, 450 BM and 300 Win Mag. If I can find one Para P14, another victim of Remington acquisition. FN 510. No NFA? 249, 240, etc. OH, cans galore.
My first ar after qualifying with the m14 in the mid 80s was a Springfield Saint with bcm furniture over 3k rounds without a single failure found out why people love them. Still prefer the m14/ m1a as a main battle rifle
That’s why I always use canted BUIS cowitness sight are not going to be of much use if you can’t see through the optic
What's up Jared!! Combine platform powers, cross that winners line, and defeat the NFA
I have 3k rounds threw my BCA now issue. I have friends that have BCA firearms and they have no issues. It kills me when say a company have a few bad items out of thousands. Its a budget type company.
Dude, alll of their stuff is budget priced. It’s a budget company. It’s trash, and so is you and your friends guns.
Normally if building an AR, if you put your money into a BCG and Barrel, you should come out good. However I did have an issue with a BCA Bolt Carrier.. Went with Fail Zero Nickel Boron BCG and it ran flawlessly..
Checked another off the list this morning while having some Blueberry Crumble, bought a coutesy wootsy Colt Junior. Also, as far as buying multiple "budget" guns instead of one "higher quality", I'd rather pick up 4-5 more CZ P-01's instead of a Staccato, and since CZ's aren't exactly "budget" gun's I'd still rather have one P-01 than ten High Points.
To new gun owners that want to build, this is my message to you:
Research, research, research, research, research, research, research, research, research, research, research, research, research, research.
Learn everything that you can. Brownell's, Aero Precision, OpticsPlanet, and a number of other sources have instructional videos about building uppers and lowers. If you REALLY want to learn about your rifle before building it, look up School of the American Rifle on youtube. The guy is a certified gunsmith and he basically walks you through his process as he checks literally everything in an AR. My favorite videos of his is when he brings back a burn victim, AR damaged in a house fire, and restores it to a working condition.
