I recently got in a conversation with someone running a shop and her boss (owner of the shop) gave her the ok to carry at work. She knows I regularly carry and asked for my opinion. So I gave her my opinion but expressed to carry what she's comfortable with and can afford. She said she had a .38 special her dad left her and immediately someone else in the shop went off. I personally wouldn't carry a revolver but told her again if that's all she has and she's comfortable with it, CARRY IT! The other guy got so furious so I asked what he carries and he replied he can't cause he's a convicted felon. Enough said.
And luckily I live in Missouri which as of the 1st of this year you don't need a permit to carry (as long as you qualify) but still having your permit does still carry its perks. Which I still always suggest. Everyone should have the education, for while carrying and IF you do have to use. Be safe, and be responsible.
And here I am trying to figure out why a felon is in the shop? I mean, sure, he likes guns or whatever, but that's like going to the candy store when you're a diabetic.. Why tease yourself?
Was a smoke. Hey, a felon can go around free after they have done their time and express opinion but their opinion will be scrutinized. But EVERYONE is entitled their opinion.
I've seen some younger guys show up to open day at my local range with $1,500-$2,000 rifles, $1000 optics and unable to hit anything consistently past 200 yds, and then older gentleman showed up with some basic ar with red dot, no magnification, and he was ringing steel 9 out of 10 times. That just made my day. If you can afford expensive equipment, have at it, but at least learn how to use it.
mj7100 to be fair I would rather have a 1k optic then a 2k ar... the point of deminishing returns happens quickly after a bull barrel and a free float barrel
The quality of the ammunition starts to come into play at the longer ranges as well. I don't care how much you spend on a rifle, if the ammunition you are feeding it sucks you will have trouble hitting anything consistently at long range.
Craig Arnold Agreed. I need to get dies and components to start handloading 5.56 - I am very unhappy with the accuracy of non-match-grade factory ammunition. 3MOA is not satisfactory to me.
I love this video. I'm a low income chump, but I still love to shoot. I own a Mosin 91/30 and and Springfield Armory XP-9. I shoot both as often as can, and spend the small part of my budget dedicated to guns on ammo, so that I can go out plinking at least once a week. Thanks for making me feel good about spending my time focusing on my fundamentals rather than spending a bunch of money on uselss tacticool crap.
i had a buddy back in high school and we shot skeet every weekend. i had a crappy old mossberg 500 with 3k+ rounds through it and i was getting 21 outta 25 clays regularly (could never get 25/25 no matter how hard i tried) but my buddy had an old remington 870 almost brand new never shot throughout the years. he kept on getting 10 to 14 clays every match so he got a winchester 1300 (thinking he would do better coz of the new gun). he still got 10-14 clays and kept on getting butt hurt bout' it. so he bought a $1,200 over under shotgun and he still got regular 10 to 14 clay score. long story short he quit skeet shooting.
I hate it when people get hung up on having the latest and greatest stuff. Sure its fun, and looks cool. But dang it learn how to shoot first! Because ill tell ya, when you can ring up a target at 300+ off the irons, thats a damn satisfying feeling. Makes taking a rifle out to 750+ that much more rewarding.
Very true and a great video. I watched a guy at a rifle match show up with a beat up looking bare bones AK. No optics...just iron sight, steel cased shooting AK. 99.99 percent of guys there had AR with red dots, magnified sights etc....Guess who did very well....AK guy. I loved it.
Andrew MARGOLIN there is a guy that participates in my local ranges casual 3 gun with a grand, 1911, and a 1897. he never wins mind you but he places better then most like 67th out of 100
Guys no disrespect but every channel that reviews firearms is partially to blame for people looking for the latest and greatest because they see you and others bringing them to our attention. Yes learning the basics of shooting and practice practice practice is the key optics or not. Maybe, you can do a series on instructional handgun, carbine (M4), bolt action and shotgun be the force multiplier and give newbies some education. Just a thought.
ScottyM1959, True sir! Every time I watch a gun review video for some new thing that costs 3x the price, does nothing more, but uses snob appeal, I just tune out. Good technique, practice, mindset, and using the right tool for the job are whay should be in a lot of those videos.
King Baldwin IV it's not snob appeal to me it's just a review but people see something they like in almost every review and say to themselves "I want one" no one mentions price and when they search it out the price causes a let down. Example: I looked into getting a night vision monocular a PVS 14 (I think the letters are wrong) and when I saw the price I almost shit but then on another channel I found a review on something more reasonable. so, it is possible it just takes time. people want the cool guy stuff they just have to be patient. in the movie Ronin DeNiro is asked what do you like his first answer was it doesn't matter it's a tool box then answers a 1911.if you are committed to defending yourself your loved ones and protecting the weak you learn to use all the tools in your toolbox
Good point. This stuff is not what your typical gun shop owner would say these days. Good on you guys though because it's very true. My dad has an old (by today's standards) Glock 23 gen 2, no accessory rail and none of the fancy bells and whistles that all the new "tupperware" pistols come with that are all mostly marketing hype. The thing just works and he hits anything he aims at. A lot of these companies trying to "reinvent the pistol wheel" are counting on shooters being lazy, and it works because a lot of shooters are lazy; they want the lasted gadget that will magically make them a good shot.
I used to go out to a couple sporting clay courses to practice before dove season. Every time I found myself surrounded by guys with SKBs, Kreigoffs , Brownings etc. My gun of choice, Stevens 12 gauge double barrel with Walmart ammo. I got teased about having an Elmer Fudd gun etc. I also brought my 12 gauge 870 pump shot gun too. I kept going until I was ready for going hunting. If I missed , I learned. If they missed it was the gun's fault or the ammo's fault. Great video. I love my old and used firearms. I think they have more character.
You guys hit this on the money for me. I've built a small collection over the past 2-3 years after my 1st purchase, and I find myself constantly researching what I want to put on the gun, ordering part and accessories to shoot with, when I haven't even dialed myself in on the guns features that it came with. And this usually leads me to not having much money for ammo. Good video guys, thanks for bringing this up!
A couple years ago I had a friend who was getting a new gun every week. He'd buy/sell/trade all the time so there was always some new toy to look at. Meanwhile I was making some pretty good money and had very few bills so every few months I'd get a case of ammo. He kinda joked around with me because I was getting so much ammo or a 50lb box of binary or whatever but never got any guns. Well on the other side of the coin he was getting new guns all the time but never had much ammo for them. Most of the time he'd turn around and get rid of a gun before he even had a chance to shoot it. Meanwhile I had tons of ammo to enjoy the guns I had.
My friend is what I call a ammo Nazi. He stock piles ammo and never wants to go to the range and shoot. He is afraid to use any ammo because if it's not in there and it hits the fan he could be low on ammo. But you can have all the ammo and no training and not hit your target.
you guys just made a new video segment! set up a 1, 2 or 3 gun range and run them with NEW vs. OLD or mil surp.and then trade off. thumb to get this going
greetings from sunny California..home of liberalism and feel good,DO nothing laws...please keep us in your thoughts and prayers...keep on preaching my 2nd amendment brothers.
tom jo the only reason I put up with Jerry Brown's bullshit and his ilk is my elderly folks.its not the same state it was when I was a young man...as I always say " THIS BROWN ISN'T FOR JERRY BROWN "
I tried to buy accuracy. My neighbor has a ruger american in 270. I loved it and could hit what I was after every time. I wanted something like it so I bought a marllin x7 in 243. I put a 6-24 scope on it and hit the range. I couldn't group that thing to save my life, I maxed out the zoom on 100 yards, bad fundamentals, it was all wrong. Ruger came out with the rpr. I thought that is what I wanted in the first place, so when I found one in 243 I bought one. I used the same scope and had my neighbor sight it in for me. I watched him shoot a 3 shot group all in the same hole at 100yd. I went to the range and the first time and my groups looked the same as my old x7. You can't buy your way out of yanking the trigger and using to much zoom. Its tough to say I suck, but when I admitted to myself I needed help that's when I got results.
MooseHunter330 I thought the same thing about scopes. And I don't disagree but i went and bought a 450 dollar scope and and it was no better then a my old scope what I got with the gun
Hey man something to mentioned I know its an old post but I recently put together my first "long range/dmr" style rifle. It's got a 4-14x scope on it and I was having so much trouble zeroing it. I dialed it back from 14x to 8x at 100 yards and had much bwtter results. Care to elaborate on why this is? I'm trying to look it up and cant find any info. Just happened to stumble across this comment
Brandon Shepherd I’m not exactly sure but it has something to do with how you see the target zoomed in all the way at that range it looks like your aiming at it but your probably hitting high, think of it like two parallel lines but the top one is slanted down just a little bit so that means the longer the lines at some point they cross and intersect and go opposite of what they where going before. Think of it as the too line is your scope and the bottom is your barrel that’s why you zero your scope in for a certain range.if that makes sense. PS.sorry about the grammar...oh well
I have multiple guns and know how to use all of them. Should u be terrified? No...fear the man who is familiar with a multitude of firearm platforms/nomenclature and doesn't throw it in your face.
Great input on ARs. I learned to shoot DCM/CMP high power matches on a bone stock H-BAR, and it worked just fine. The carry handle mounted scope worked A-OK for testing handload consistency, and it was quickly removable to stay in match regulation compliance. A lot of the time, all the gidgets and gadgets get in the way. All you need to learn match shooting is a basic rifle, a good sling, and a sweatshirt to pad your arms. Fundamentals first.
People that bag on people using iron sights should do well to remember Simo Hayha. He was a sniper that served the Finnish army during the Winter War as a sniper. He had just your basic Mosin-Nagant 28. He has 259 confirmed sniper kills with his Mosin-Nagant and just using iron sights. In fact, he preferred iron sights over an optic. The mantra comes back again, "Better men have done more with less."
Eric and Chad, I just wanted to say thanks for making great informative videos. With all the gun tubers out there that get to shoot all the latest and greatest new guns, sometimes we forget to be happy with what we have and just go out and enjoy shooting them. Lesson learned! Thanks again
Best episode to date. I have plenty of fancy guns but I love hitting human size steel at 150 yards on my p226 mk25 iron sights and my m16a2 iron at 700.
You mentioned Palmetto. I love them. I bought a "blemished" lower from them earlier this year for like half price and I still cannot find the blemish. I definitely recommend them for someone who wants to build an AR.
Glock Fan They shipped really fast for me. I ordered Feb 19th. They shipped the 22nd. It was at my local shop the 24th. I went back to check my emails to be sure.
@@legionp229saoconvertedme4 I know this is a year or so old by now but I ordered a rifle kit on a Thursday night and even with the weekend it was at my door in 5 days
@@wsieber89 yea thanks for the reply I gave them a chance finally just this month with some ammo and it was here in 3 days multiple people have told me they have gotten alot better over the years so I finally caved in I was pleased
@@legionp229saoconvertedme4 I do remember several years ago buying 5 of their aluminum GI ar15 magazines and it took a good ten days to be delivered but I've ordered from them probably 7 or 8 times since then and have had no complaints at all. They have great customer service as well. I've called them to ask questions about certain items and they have always been polite and knowledgeable.
I live in texas and I could get an andersan lower for 45 to 50 bucks. I've gone to the high caliber gun show and a buddy of mine bought his for around $50. Since you live in cali I can see why it would be up charged especially because of the panic from the new law comin in.
It took about a year to get an old rifle to shoot, but the rifle was free and it's what I have. Cost about $75 for new sights (the old rear sight would slide around) and so far $150 in 22 ammo, but it's one of the most entertaining guns I have.
I've been shooting and hunting since 1972 and pretty much only had iron sights and bare bones guns. You made them work or you went home empty handed and back then a year with a deer really helped.
So ive been looking at getting my 1st AR for home defence and I just need something basic (found a .300 BLK for under $550) and I was already thinking about getting all this fancy junk for it but now that you guys have said and stressed on saying "fundamentals and use what you got" I am actually just excited to use nothing more than just some decent iron sights and maybe a flashlight. all that money i was going to dump into a laster / optic and a muzzle break I can now confidently spend on ammo and range time. Thank you for making my choice more solid and confident!
bought my first centerfire rifle 2 months ago, and being 21 years old I always get the heads turning when I'm plinking targets with my mosin nagant M44 when most are shooting ARs. absolutely love my mosin
a lot of truth right here boys and girls! my dad went up north of Churchill Manitoba Canada, just a stones throw from the Arctic circle is my understanding on a fly in caribou hunt with a plane load of americans (we live in southern Manitoba). These guys are sighting in their guns and my dad is amazed at the hardware these guys brought. then my dad gets out his old .300 savage that was an old gun when he bought it in 68 at the auction for the closing of the last store in out little town for $25 Canadian. he's watching them shooting at 250 yards and hardly hitting a thing. so he lines up free hand and nails the 6" target with a single shot. If you can't shoot what you have (assuming it isn't defective in some way) what makes you think spending more money will some how magically make you a better marksman?
My primary rifles are dead-simple with a sling and aperture sights. I understand your dad's philosophy quite well. Did he use a Savage Model 99 for that shot? (I also own a precision rifle with a 4-14-power mil dot scope, but that's another matter entirely!)
My first rifle was an old Marlin 336 in 30-30 win. that my dad bought me when I was a kid and it's one of my favorites. I've got a fair amount of firearms now, but you can't forget about your roots and what you learned to shoot with.
You guys are exactly right! I started with a few shotguns and rifles and now have slowly built my way up. Its all about learning the basics and going from there.
while I agree we get into pissing contests frequently in the gun world I will say a scope or optic can be important for folks with vision issues. knowing how to use irons is good but I definitely understand folks who NEED optics to make shooting fun for them because of their vision.
Going to the range with a Mosin and then watch the crowd form is really gratifying and Questions about the 91/30 and the carbine. Awesome crowd pleasers.
Contentment and appreciation of what you already own. To not be driven by always more more more. During the Depression, rounds were singular or five at a time.. sometimes for a couple pennies. Less can be more. Awesome video guys.
Tells me to stick with cheap guns and not get fancy space age guns ** pulls out M&P 9L ported with Trijicon RMR** Lol jk just messing around. Love y’alls videos man. Keep up the great work !
One of the best gripes ever. Guys, keep in mind, one only needs a firearm good enough to have a fighting chance. The most valuable weapon is one's brain, i.e. the way one uses tools at hand to do the job at hand. Good luck!
I know you will love this Eric. I used to hunt Elk in Idaho with a Mosin Nagant. And I took several before I had enough money to buy a real hunting gun. 7.62X54R is a very lethel round. My uncle found me some Norma rounds. I still have a few. That was 1966, when he gave me those Norma hunting rounds. I still have 6.
I learned to shoot on a 20" A2 and dropped my first deer with a stock 91/30 that I bought for $100. Honestly, some of the most fun I have shooting is with iron sights. dont get me wrong, ringing steel at 300 yards with an optic is fun, but there's something about standard irons that just gives me that sense of pride and satisfaction.
It takes a bit of time, money, and effort to get started reloading but it is well worth it in my opinion. Especially if you like shooting some of the more rare cartridges out there. I don't think you really save any money in the long run but you get to shoot more for the same amount of money, plus you can fine tune your ammo to your needs.
This is my favorite video from you guys by far. I know so many people who own tons of guns and almost never shoot them. I use to be guilty of this until a few years ago, then I started actually buying ammo and taking classes. The difference is astronomical. Guns are tools, its the user that matters.
As a life long revolver shooter I know what you mean. I get a lot of flak about revolvers. The Glocktards are the worst. I end up smiling after they see the groupings I get with "grandpa's " gun. It tends to shut them up.
All I gotta say is try and fight more than 6 determined guys with that revolver, there's a reason hi cap wonder 9's are what military and police use these days. Look at the Miami shootout in the 80s to prove that revolvers in a serious fight arent as good as a semi auto. Edit: and I say this as a revolver owner and shooter, but for self defence and home defense I use a semi auto where the mag holds 18+1
great video and great point! I teach my kids with open sight BB guns and pellet guns up to open sight SKS...they don't even know what a scope does...but they are starting out lethal to 300 yards...
my dad completely agrees with you. older guns are way better the new fancy rifles. his main come back for anyone the disagrees is "you can't beat my 1914s lee-Enfield"
I still hunt with my .303 British. I shot a moose this Fall with it. One shot and done. It has killed moose, caribou, deer and bear from 50 yards out to 300. No caliber in Canada has killed more moose then a .303 british. I own a lot of different rifles, but I always go back to my 1918 .303 British
Any semi auto military rifle will beat a 1914 lee-Enfield. I don't know why people are allowing themselves into being fooled to think that old Bolt action rifles are better combat rifles than M16s and AKs.
True I'm 15 now and I've shot irons for 7 years and I've kept my irons on my 300 blk I'm finally getting an aim point to hit a lot longer than 400 yards
PURE FACTS!!! I got a SOPMOD style PSA and I absolutely love everything about it down to the nicks on the rail from standing to prone drills.... That rifle is all a need
I like what I like and buy what I like never cared about keeping up with the Joneses I take my high point to the range every now and then but all my guns get at least a thousand rounds before I think about a new one. I love watching you guys you are doing a great thing informing the people about fire arms, safety ect. keep up the good work much respect
One of the most accurate AR's that I shoot i put together back in 1989 for maybe $225.A1 upper, heavy 20 inch barrel, nothing special.Ive shot it in matches,i've carried it afield, and trust it completely.I know there are those that like to trick their toys out,I've just never had the reason..K.I.S.S.
zz377zz Sounds like mine, only I went for a pencil barrel and modern polymer furniture. It has virtually no recoil, and is very lightweight. KISS is best!
First rifle I ever bought was the Western Auto version of a 336. A Glenfield Model 10A in 30-30. It cost less than 200 bucks in 2000. It's the best most convenient deer rifle within 200 yards that I own still to this day.
Snokones I went to a charity shoot 3 7" steel targets at 150, 4 10" targets at 300 and 3 12" poppers at 500 yards lots of people had ARs, scars, M1a and this was a best group challenge so they took your group sizes from each target added them up and divided to get the average I used my VKT 1942 M39 and I got second with iron sights the guy that got first had a $12,000 custom M40A3 clone with lapped barrels and a target trigger milsurps rule
I shot a carbine challenge weekly last year. I brought an iron sighted A2 because I wanted to improve my speed with irons. I was the only guy without an optic and got a lot of props. I also came in second over the 6 weeks.
Couple years back I took my son to the range. He was getting great groupings, always on target. Some others shooters had to see what he was running- the look that they had when he showed them his $150 High Point was hard to describe, something between being puzzled and total denial. He was outshooting me with my 1911 and Glock 19. It was what he could afford, so he got good with it. When he did pick up a Glock the time with the High Point made him so comfortable with it, having already mastered a clunky hunk of metal. I am almost certain those fellows wanted to see what gun made him so good!
A gun retailer/re-seller advising people to not buy new shit: That's the mark of true enthusiasts. I've had respect for you guys for a long time, but this ices the cake. Long live IV8888
You guys are great! I always enjoy your videos and this video is so important. People get so caught up in the latest and greatest before they even know how to shoot. I haven't started on my gun journey yet, but looking forward to when I can purchase my first firearm. You guys are a great resource and you don't make me feel like a dumb newbie. Thanks and keep up the great work!
RONSPOTZ My favorite rifles to shoot are my old Marlin leverguns with cast bullets. I love shooting my ARs too, but there's something special about leverguns.
I did a 4 day rifle class at FrontSight in Nevada. I had my budget M&P Sport 15 AR. It shot just a good as rifles that cost thousands more. It never had a malfunction and it hit whatever I was aiming at.
I had issues with a Midwest Industries flip up front sight on a Anderson flat top upper w/gasblock height sight. Their gas blocks are lower than receiver height. For whatever reason, maybe Andersons own spec height gas block, the sight would not zero at 50yrds. 15+ inches high@ 50yrs and sight was out of adjustments. They have a .30 higher front sight post they offer and it fixed the problem.
Firearm and firearm accessories are soooo expensive, I'm just used to it. But when someone who isn't accustomed to guns, the prices for the smallest apart, like a handguard from certain manufacturers for $400 is astronomical. Most people have to decide what bill to pay this month let alone have enough money for hobbies. I have a friend that had to save up to buy a X box One and paying $60 for games is a stretch for him. When I go online with him looking for guns and parts and he sees that just a Magpul PRS grip and stock is almost $350 his jaw drops and it's true, this is one pricey hobby. When I paid over $3K to buy a SCAR I take a second to realize that I'm very fortunate and there are millions of people who's car costs that much as that gun. This is a major problem when we need to be bringing more people into the firearms culture and just to get their feet wet costs thousands of dollars. By that I mean no one wants a cricket .22lr and a highpoint. They want a AR15 and a Glock and ammo, we need to get the industry to rethink their price model............
stuna101a I had a hard time affording real whizbang guns starting out, I'm ashamed to admit that I bought a Mosin Nagant after they got on par with better guns in terms of price because I fell for the reliability thing. I also bought a Hi Point 995 carbine, which was fine but unimpressive, and a Steyr M95, which I gave to a friend who didn't have a gun and was really into it. I have basically only owned inexpensive guns, my only two handguns are a used S&W model 10 and a Rough Rider, and I feel it is good that such is the case. I think that, starting out, people's first experiences with guns should be with simple stuff. I'm young, I still have time to accrue all the cool shit that I want, but I feel it's good I didn't start out with it.
The BEST video yet!!! I learned to shoot on a BB/pellet gun and an old swap mart .22 hunting as a kid and today I can shoot any rifle well! I've fired a friends target model S&W 38 special handgun and matched his score hit for hit because I grew up shooting my pellet gun at aspirin tablets on a tree jammed into the bark. I'd try and crack the aspirin tablets with each shot and I'll tell you, that was HARD TO DO! Love it!
No, quality of steel has generally gone up. Quality of fit and finish has generally gone down. Plus, less steel is being used these days due to companies using cheap plastic wherever they can.
I picked up a Taurus PT 709. So far, I've got 150 rounds down range with it. The last 50 are much better than my first 50. Good advice, shoot the gun, watch what you are doing, and get better. There is no magic.
Are you serious? Almost all service rifles have back-up iron sights that are positioned to "co-witness" with the red dot. Wouldn't they receive at least some training in their use?
When I went through bootcamp in 2012 there were some company's that were using the RCO, they didn't have any back up irons from what i could tell. They might receive some classes on them, but you're always half asleep in the classes anyway so they probably learn little to none on them.
Yeah the armed forces now qualify with red dots now. I knew the army did and I knew the marines were headed toward it once the M4 finally became standard issue,
My friend went to an expensive gun club to shoot skeet, he brought his stoeger condor pump and placed it in the rack alongside $2,500-$10,000 shotguns and listened to all the comments, "who brought THAT thing" etc. He cleaned house with the best score and only compliments came after. He shoots skeet all the time, is retired and works at a skeet range as an RSO and been shooting most his life. Also, his most expensive shotgun is a $2,500 Browning O/U. It's all about the shooter.
I have a Savage model 14 stainless chambered in .308 Winchester. I went with the saying spend as much on the glass as the rifle I selected a 3-9x40 Trijicon accupoint. I'm a working man this was a big purchase for me but I went in with the mentality that I'm buying a rifle for the rest of my life. I liked the accutrigger, classic wood stock, stainless steel and 308 is what my previous rifle that was stolen had been chambered in. I liked the hand turn turrets, simple reticle and lift and twist zero of the Trijicon scope. This rifle has brought me success in the woods and is a joy to shoot at the range. I bought a rifle for life and would not trade it for anything.
1. Police and Military being well trained is a myth. Majority of vets don't even touch a gun after bootcamp most cops train with there duty guns once every few months if that, I know some who only shoot when its time to qualify which is a joke on its own.. 2. Even if someone knows what there doing does not mean they can teach, teaching is a whole other skill most don't have. Always seek out a reputable instructor if your having trouble not Bob the national guard supply guy.
You comments were spot on, especially your second comment. Some shooters believe that a person needs to seek professional training. When it just isn't necessary. If a person wants to seek out tacti-cool training and spend a lot of money...they can knock themselves out. It won't necessarily make that person any better than the other shooter who was taught by a family member or friend. Shooting is not that difficult. I have a close friend who's won major competitions and he got his fundamentals from his Dad and the rest he read some books. A solid shooter who has the basic fundamentals down already is more than capable of teaching a new shooter. I've been shooting with plenty of people and they always have excuses if they're not hitting. I always tell them, that a shooter with solid and good fundamentals, should be able to pick up any firearm (pistol/rifle) and be fairly accurate with it.
TheMatrix Reputable instructors...oh, Christ, not this again. Learn the fundamentals, learn the laws in your area regarding armed self-defense, do some basic drills, and you'll be good to go. If you need more than that, seek out organized groups and get real team-based training, not John Wick wannabe solo stuff. Nobody does that for real. Learn to move, shoot, and communicate as part of a team.
well I mean can you blame people when theres channels like yours that seem to have every gun with an $500+ optic and tax stamps all over the place lol a lot of us learn from places online so if they see people doing that kinda thing, they think theyre under equipped...plus its kinda what happens with every hobby really, you get into something with the very little you got, you buy a shit ton of stuff even though you don't do the thing you got into it for in the first place like you did when you started so you buy more shit to compensate for it
Love these gun gripes. It's like I'm hanging with my friends but on the shitter
Does anyone else comment while watching lol
N those upgrades only work when you get your basics down so I fully agree
I always address my friends and family when on the porcelain throne. Just like LBJ and king henry used to do. It helps to assert my dominance.

GussTheRabbit more power to her. You should always be able to use your Second Amendment, especially to protect yourself and those around you.
Midniteoyl he never said he was in a gun shop...
Majority of people just dont shoot enough. Going to the range once every 6 months to a year isn't going to help you.
That's the point of the video

No doubt
But a first rate man with first rate equipment is even better
Yep. "Use what you've got" needs to be on a T Shirt! 🇺🇸😎
TRIKER RED that's a great idea. Just be sure to include a rifle or pistol or they'll think you mean something else.😉
William Tell build a lower then order a upper

i had a buddy back in high school and we shot skeet every weekend. i had a crappy old mossberg 500 with 3k+ rounds through it and i was getting 21 outta 25 clays regularly (could never get 25/25 no matter how hard i tried) but my buddy had an old remington 870 almost brand new never shot throughout the years. he kept on getting 10 to 14 clays every match so he got a winchester 1300 (thinking he would do better coz of the new gun). he still got 10-14 clays and kept on getting butt hurt bout' it. so he bought a $1,200 over under shotgun and he still got regular 10 to 14 clay score. long story short he quit skeet shooting.
bren masl I never did shoot Skeet with my buddies. I usually shoot by myself. But definitely wont stop!
Both you guys combined remind me of a cousin..down to earth, knowledgeable, smart, and just layed back
Not mad at all. Its about God dang time someone said it. Because thats the facts. Them boys smart right there.

ScottyM1959 This is a shameless plug but check my YT channel. I have quite a bit to offer the shooting enthusiast, especially those on a budget.
travisp11 consider it done and yeah a shameless plug on someone else's video but I'll check your channel out
I used to go out to a couple sporting clay courses to practice before dove season.
I think they have more character.
good stuff; can't buy skill
Mrgunsngear Channel Wowsers. Five word comment. Unheard of!!!
I always say "better men have done more with less"
I said that to my wife once, and she said "Yes, they have".
I hope she was talking about guns but I was afraid to ask.

The Dude! FMCDH 😂😂😂
The Dude! FMCDH that ammo won't do him any good because he won't hit the target without getting lucky
part of my paycheck will be spent purely on ammo, one to avoid getting rusty, and two incase things do go south
I shoot about half of the ammo I buy and I spend twice as much on ammo as I do on guns and accessories.
Shit isn't gonna hit the fan anytime soon......

Rule No.1 when buying a hunting rifle: Spend actual money on a scope. I will take a good quality 3-9x36 over a blurry 5-20x42 every day.
MooseHunter330 I thought the same thing about scopes. And I don't disagree but i went and bought a 450 dollar scope and and it was no better then a my old scope what I got with the gun
And you should pat yourself on the back. Most would just say “this gun sucks, fuck this”. Takes a real man to admit he’s wrong

Like a marine and his rifle
Keep in mind that the optics of the day had a tendency to fog in cold weather, and that most of those kills were made within 200 yards.

I definitely recommend them for someone who wants to build an AR.
nermanerr is there shipping really slow? ive heard its terrible thats the only reason i havent ordered from them

Gun shops in California were charging around$200 for that Anderson lower before the new laws kicked in.
Bill Van Raam lol I know and he said what $40 For his crazy! They wore selling them like fucking hot cakes also
$40 for a lower ???
I live in texas and I could get an andersan lower for 45 to 50 bucks. I've gone to the high caliber gun show and a buddy of mine bought his for around $50. Since you live in cali I can see why it would be up charged especially because of the panic from the new law comin in.
Bill Van Raam my dad has a Pallmetto AR with a Anderson lower and that gun is dead nuts accurate out to 350yds.
and people were waiting in line for hours last December to buy them.
It took about a year to get an old rifle to shoot, but the rifle was free and it's what I have. Cost about $75 for new sights (the old rear sight would slide around) and so far $150 in 22 ammo, but it's one of the most entertaining guns I have.
This Gun Gripes should have been called "Learn The Basics".
I've been shooting and hunting since 1972 and pretty much only had iron sights and bare bones guns. You made them work or you went home empty handed and back then a year with a deer really helped.
Eric and Chad.. Can you do a series on getting back to the basics of shooting.
Before we earned the title Veteran, we first had to hit a 300 meter target with open sights. It ain't that difficult.
bought my first centerfire rifle 2 months ago, and being 21 years old I always get the heads turning when I'm plinking targets with my mosin nagant M44 when most are shooting ARs. absolutely love my mosin
Can you make a video on shooting fundamentals?
One of the best features of these videos is there is no BS music as a lead in to the video.. Thank you for that.
a lot of truth right here boys and girls!
my dad went up north of Churchill Manitoba Canada, just a stones throw from the Arctic circle is my understanding on a fly in caribou hunt with a plane load of americans (we live in southern Manitoba). If you can't shoot what you have (assuming it isn't defective in some way) what makes you think spending more money will some how magically make you a better marksman?
because the concept is from drag cars and american muscle cars bigger and fancier is better and in that relm it is 100% true
J. Dana Clark It's the same concept that spending 3+ billion will magically make the Earth colder.
Krayus Korianis that's just the down payment.
My primary rifles are dead-simple with a sling and aperture sights. I understand your dad's philosophy quite well. Did he use a Savage Model 99 for that shot?
(I also own a precision rifle with a 4-14-power mil dot scope, but that's another matter entirely!)
Headframe Hunters I honestly don't know the model sorry.
My first rifle was an old Marlin 336 in 30-30 win. that my dad bought me when I was a kid and it's one of my favorites. I've got a fair amount of firearms now, but you can't forget about your roots and what you learned to shoot with.
Eric and Chad are the Joneses that nobody can keep up with!!! :D

One of the best gripes ever. Guys, keep in mind, one only needs a firearm good enough to have a fighting chance. The most valuable weapon is one's brain, i.e. the way one uses tools at hand to do the job at hand. Good luck!
The thing with scopes, they don't make you shoot better they help you see better.
Who else stock piles ammo?
@Austin Martín Hernández or when the prices shoot up again
Ammo, rice, AR parts
Is that a trick question?
I learned to shoot on a 20" A2 and dropped my first deer with a stock 91/30 that I bought for $100. Honestly, some of the most fun I have shooting is with iron sights. dont get me wrong, ringing steel at 300 yards with an optic is fun, but there's something about standard irons that just gives me that sense of pride and satisfaction.
wish someone would start making cheap 8mm mauser ammo.
Ever looked into reloading it yourself?
well i save my 8mm brass for the day when i get a reloader. probably should though.
It takes a bit of time, money, and effort to get started reloading but it is well worth it in my opinion. Especially if you like shooting some of the more rare cartridges out there. I don't think you really save any money in the long run but you get to shoot more for the same amount of money, plus you can fine tune your ammo to your needs.
ill have to invest in that. lots of practice is what im after so i think it'll be worth it.
just bought a Kar98k. I am definitely getting into hand loading after seeing the prices on 8mm Mauser.
Colorado Viking All guns are fun. I turn 21 next year and I plan on a Glock 42 and a .357magnum revolver from S&W on my birthday.
I wish somebody would talk shit on my gpas taurus 38 special snub. I hit plates at 100 yards, hard for me to believe myself.
A lot of things beat a Lee Enfield. It wasn't even the best military bolt action rifle in it's day. It's even worse at a lot of stuff.

Iron sights forever!

My favorite gun to shoot is my 1884 springfield trapdoor. I just got a reloading set and I seriously want to carve my own stock for the thing.
It never had a malfunction and it hit whatever I was aiming at.
whew! first, America!
I'm young, I still have time to accrue all the cool shit that I want, but I feel it's good I didn't start out with it.
stuna101a
Yeah. I’m actually tired of spending money.
I have no kids or a wife so I buy what I want, that being said AR's are going for under $600, and reloading your own ammo is very affordable.
Love it!
Honesly, depending on the gun in question, I'll go for an older gun. Quality in steel really has gone down over the years.
Marines don't even learn to shoot iron sights anymore
kek
cute name.
IareObviousTroll ....got that right!
It's all about the shooter.
damn lol good ol Chad with them CRAZY EYES 🙂
"But that one on the far left ; he had crazy eyes. Figured him to make the first move." -Josey Wales.
Looks like the tired eyes of a young father.
Rocketninja200 Yep, a 3in the morning stare!lol!
Should of just titled this "Go get training" which I believe most of us should be doing instead of the latest gadget.
Learn to move, shoot, and communicate as part of a team.
great video. I remind myself of this every time I get the desire for a galil ace or Tavor with my AK and AR I already have.
#longlivethegong
Long dong gong
Love how natural you guys speak.....
I miss berry
Thank you for posting this video. We need more gun owners who preach the value of learning the fundamentals of shooting
well I mean can you blame people when theres channels like yours that seem to have every gun with an $500+ optic and tax stamps all over the place lol a lot of us learn from places online so if they see people doing that kinda thing, they think theyre under equipped...plus its kinda what happens with every hobby really, you get into something with the very little you got, you buy a shit ton of stuff even though you don't do the thing you got into it for in the first place like you did when you started so you buy more shit to compensate for it
darkinertia2 there's plenty of basic stuff on this channel
I've never been Man enough to serve in our Military. I have always supported our Heros that do. Thank you for your service Eric!!!
