    I was recently fit into Project X 6.5’s with 919 Forged irons and I’ve never seen a more consistent ball flight but more importantly I’ve never had such tight distance dispersion, the difference it’s made knowing exactly how far a ball will likely go has been huge

    Much thanks boys. I needed to see those numbers and hear some hands on feed back. Looking for new shafts. Currently playing kbs tour x 130 and have for past 3 years. Just got the new staff model blade set from Wilson and having trouble getting timing right at impact. Ball flight seems to be a little push( like you had with the x100) so information you gave helped with some questions I had. Thanks again

    A wonder display of shaft performance. In the end, given how close they all were to one another...the "feel" of the shaft to the player, from my perspective should be the way to go. Thus, given what Matty said in relation to how he felt about weight, balance, starting the ball inline and squaring the club at impact....the KBS C-Taper is the one to go with.

When I did my trackman iron fitting I had very similar issues with the x100 and just didn't like the feel of the c taper. I eneded up putting the Project X 7.0s in and have been in love with them ever since! I've never had the opportunity to try the x7s but def would love to test them head to head vs my 7.0s next time I go to do an iron fitting! Keep up the great content guys! Love your videos!

    Excellent video. Have tried all of these shafts and while I initially thought dynamic gold x100 and project x 6.5 were the best for me, the first time I felt the kbs tour c-taper 130x, I instantly fell in love. Even with a 2018 model head compared to a 2021 model head on the other shafts, the 2018 with the kbs performed the best. They were by far the superior option for me at least. Great feel, feedback, control, dispersion and overall performance on the kbs tour c-taper 130x. 👍🏽

    At 49, I was just fit for the X7. Every shaft Matt used here was part of my fitting. The X7 really tightened my strike pattern down to a dime and ball dispersion would fit on a blanket. The feel of how it worked with my swing was something I never felt before. Truth, the reality of this fitting was a painful lesson as I downplayed what a proper iron fitting can reveal. Compared to my current iron, I was in every sense of the word NEW after 15 years of ignorance, frustration and struggle playing shafts that felt like 2x4's and went everywhere and killed my distance. KBS Tour X - 130G Stepped Twice

Dynamic Gold just didn't feel good I've just never been much a fan of their shafts for my game.. Project X was great and right there on feel and distance but $-Taper was the clear winner when it came to dispersion.

    Thanks for all the hard work you put into these videos. After watching this, and other videos, it would be really cool to see a video on "sweet spots and grooves." I've been playing golf for a long time and have made the assumption that I know where the sweet spot is on my clubs and have no idea about the role grooves play when I hit high or low....there's no marking on irons to indicate where the sweet spot is and on which grooves it lies...

    In my experience, some shafts help promote a certain flight and/or eliminate a certain flight. For example, I have stuck with dynamic gold because (for me) it promotes a reliable slight draw similar to Matty's for my stock shot and also gives me the confidence to hit a fade by exaggerating without losing it to the fade side. So my feels are honed and reliable which has lead to good average proximity regardless of pin location. I've also managed to match my driver shaft to this same feel. Unfortunately my 3 wood and 3 hybrid are a little too draw biased so I'm currently searching for options that are more aligned with this approach. Feeling pretty good at a 2 handicap averaging over 30 putts per round (now putting is another, unfortunately sad, story).

    Hi. I went for a fitting before with shafts. They told me that C-Taper is a more stiffer shaft than others. I was DG X100 then I went for the Project X 6.5 then I wanted less weight cause I wanted to feel more where the head is when I am coming down to hit the ball. I play C-Taper Lite 110 Stiff and I am hitting darts.

    I game the kbs tours and notice the ball does balloon but i sometimes like the high flight when i need it.
    To play it lower i just take less loft, swing easier, grip down, finish lower, or play it an inch or two back in my stance or some combo of the above.
    But would love to try different ones to see how smooth they feel.

  • @rufussthoo4083
    @rufussthoo4083 4 года назад

    The similarity of numbers is not a great surprise (as you expected) and this seems to be the trend in new equipment as all manufacturers push the limits of what is possible and legal. BUT Matty, how did they FEEL? You guys didn't talk enough about the feedback differences (or similarities). Did one shaft feel 'dead' and another too 'lively', did one give better connection to the club head than another, did any make you feel you had to work harder (or swing easier), did any of the shafts feel 'harder' or 'softer' at impact, etc? Feel is really important to me with my clubs so I'd love to hear more about the feel differences (yes, I know it is subjective but it is also relative). Keep these reviews coming please guys - the more I learn from you the more informed my choices become. Cheers.

Would seem to me that as manufacturing quality and consistency improve, Puring will be less beneficial but I would also speculate that there are still shafts being sold today that Puring will benefit.

      Forgot to mention that there (are?) vibration tests that showed that shafts vibrated differently depending on their alignment. With the adjustable clubs, symmetry is perhaps more important. I’ve seen that data for some shafts, but I don’t know if it is available for all shafts.

      @@billcochrane9774 I believe they still offer it on most clubs. I just got a new iron set this year from them ( well now Golf Galaxy but same thing) and the option was available, I just wasn't sure what it was. I knew it had to do with shaft testing just never knew what went into the process thank you for more insight.

    Does the c-taper have a high balance point like the tour and tour-v or is it like project x and dynamic gold, just curious if that played a role in the timing aspect, and does x7 have a higher balance point because there is so much mass in the butt

    • @SeanSeesMedia
      @SeanSeesMedia 4 года назад

      From a fitting i just had where i hit the x100 and the c taper (sorry no x7 or px 7) the c taper is definitely stiffer in the butt end than the x100 but also stiffer in the mid and way stiffer in the tip. So there is almost no change in stiffness between the mid and tip sections of the c taper. I have a relatively fast tempo and pretty significant transition move and i really struck the ball much better with that stiffer tip section of the c taper

    I found the same thing Matt found with the project x vs x100. I'm righty, but for some reason, both project x6.0 and project x6.5 were consistently more left than x100. For me x100 were more straight and the px shafts were slight pulled draws about 5-8 yards left of target. Could it be the heavier weight of DG keeps me less quick?
    In terms of launch, spin, ball speed, apex, decent angle, I tested modus 125, modus 130, px 6.0 and 6.5, c-taper 125 and 130 and x100. The numbers were all on top of each other like what they found here.

    • @webstermiller7765
      @webstermiller7765 4 года назад +1

      Depends on the player. For some a too soft of shaft will cause them to release too early and the face will be too closed resulting in what you've been told. Others find a too soft shaft to result in the clubhead lagging resulting in an open face and shots just the opposite of what you've been told. It all depends on the golfer.

I can tell you that I've gone into the PGA Tour Superstore on multiple occasions to try and knock it out of the bag but have yet to find anything I hit better. Any tiny 2-3 mph clubhead speed I gain with a 45" graphite shaft is greatly offset by quality of ballstrike.

    I am true believer in getting fit. But be careful out side alot of fittings our on uneven ground with lots of sand on the Range and then of course range balls. Got fit for hybrid they said i was hitting 197-205... Carry was shocked, seamed short i new they were range balls..but still.. Wow. Hybrid came in. with real ball, inside fitting i hit that same hybrid 225-230.
    So be careful if getting fit outside . Range balls and the elements can mess up the #s would recommend inside fitting to get rid of some variables..
    ( iam plus 1). On this test you sure made the case that there is lots of great shafts out there and there not much difference... At least for you.
