Love the feel of the $ taper myself. Tried one recently - something about it just feels super smoothe and tightened up dispersion for me using the X stiff 130g

Great seeing this. I'm a 50 year old who was fitted with C Taper Lite stiff shafts (with an up charge lol). Love them. Dispersion is tight and the ball flies beautifully. Nothing like Matty though.

I was fitted to a c-taper in a mizuno jpx 919 forged this year and loved it. After my motorcycle accident this year and a little loss of strength I couldn't load the shaft properly. So I picked up a used set of mizuno jpx 850 forged with kbs tour 130 x shafts and love them as well. Hopefully I can gain that strength strength back to play my new iorns! Only played them 3 times before my accident in may!

Hey guys, don’t know if you like when we do video requests in the comments, but I suppose it doesn’t hurt to ask.
I always feel like my game changes when I put on 2-3 layers... I get cold quite easily, so I kinda bundle up. Would love to see you do a compare/contrast between Matty in short sleeves vs. Matty in a parka.

I was fitted with the KBS Tour C Taper Lite in 110gr S on my TaylorMade P770's two years ago and the tight dispersion I gained was insane. These are fabulous shafts paired with my TM P770's. At 61 years of age and hitting my 7iron 165 I feel confident targeting specific areas of the green with these shafts.

I’ve c-taper x130 in my 718ap2 and changed to them from px7.0 in my 710 ap2. I’m getting a bit older now and I didn’t want to swing as aggressive as I did. I don’t have to swing flat out at them as long as I maintain good tempo they feel very smooth and workable. The shafts suit smoother but faster swing speeds. I find the transition at the top of my backswing has be smooth for the shaft to load properly. The weight is really about feel. Good stuff lads.

Got fitted for new irons in June always used true temper s 300 before ,the c taper lite 115 x was the best shaft I tested and the best flight and accuracy on the monitor ,felt really smooth and not as stiff and harsh as s 300 .C taper lite seems stiff at the bottom and top with a bit more give in the middle section ,at least thats what I found ,I had never hit KBS before but that shaft in Mizuno 919 tours just feels great and smooth .I have knocked quite a few strokes off my game since getting properly fitted ,wish I had done it a few years ago .Nice video again guys .

I believe at last years Dunhill Links, after the tour trucks departed Eddie Pepperill needed an iron re-shaft and visited Auchterlonies, all they had to roughly fit him was a C Taper. He loved the shaft so much put them in all irons the following week

I went from DG-X100s to $-Taper 130s and they're amazing. They have a more "active" feel than the C-taper and X100s but don't ballon at all like the LZ and the tour can.

Interested to see X100 vs C-taper. Got fit into the X100 by a guy who didn’t carry KBS. Liked em but they felt sluggish and I couldn’t find the clubhead. Switched into the C-taper 130x and fell in love. I thought I would struggle to get the ball in the air with them being on the lower end of quick, but I still hit everything crazy high! Even have the 130x in the set Gap Wedge and have no trouble getting stopping power. Wonderful combo of stable and controllable!

Going for my first proper iron + wedge fitting tomorrow and really excited to see what comes out of it. I have the plan to keep my mizuno mp-15s and just re-shaft them with whatever ends up best but will test some other heads as well. I bought my mp-15s very very gently used a few years ago and when i went in to the fitter yesterday to have my clubs checked and analyzed we found that they are 1/2 inch shorter than standard and the c taper lite 110 shafts are looking far too soft for my swing speed and tempo. He said they are roughly 1.5 flexes too soft for me. We will be looking at something in the 130 range to start off with and see where my numbers go, but he said a shaft too light and soft for me like the c taper light will tend to fly a bit higher, and as i already launch the ball very high, this is probably not helping me on the course. Cheers for motivating me to get fitted properly.

KBS $-Taper HT (Heavy Tip) shafts should get serious looks by golfers looking for a seriously enjoyable swinging experience.
They are relatively new to market and are still relatively unknown, but they should rapidly gain in popularity over the next several years given how awesome they feel.
I had the KBS $-Taper HT (Heavy Tip) 120g shafts cut to length and installed in all my 4-PW Srixon Z585 irons, and they are an absolute dream.
I strongly recommend trying them out.

Finally...KBS in the house, great job TXG. With that said, I personally got fitted (about a month ago) on my Hogan PTx with $ Taper 130. I love the feel and without question, my dispersion got a lot tighter. In fact (correct me if I'm wrong) Matty had a tighter dispersion with the S-Taper 130 (red circle) vs the C Taper (terqwaz circle). Not sure why Ian would say that shaft should not be considered for Matty. The ball-spin on the iron used...6-iron I think, are both very acceptable in my book. Again, congrats and thank you for showing us the performance of the KBS shafts.

Hi guys and thank you very much for all your work that you bring us. Extremely helpful in our future choices. But I want to ask you something, next time when you try shafts, try to have all type of shots, like taping the ball or fat shots, all kind of missed shots not only the successful ones cause most of the amateur players that you address them have plenty of this type of shots and we know that when you miss a shot with DG or Project X how much pain you feel in your fingers comparison with KBS which are extremely smooth and forgiveness. So, for me it's very important the feel and how you connected with the shafts, club heads or grips in all type of shots. Otherwise thank you very much again for all the details that you show us. Good luck in your work!

  • @laytonwilson12

My experience with the c-taper is exactly like the video. While playing collegiate golf I had a slightly lower than preferred ball flight, mostly in the longer irons, leaving long approaches and long par 3’s somewhat difficult to stop the ball on tucked pins. A friend of mine bought a used set of irons with c-tapers in them, they absolutely did not work for him and he gave them to me. Knowing these shafts are “supposed” to be a lower launching lower spinning shaft I tried them only because they were heavier than my KBS tours, thinking they’d give me a more descending strike on the ball and therefore raising the spin... bingo. Been using them for 6 years now and love the feel and dispersion they provide when you’re dialed in

The Mizuno swing analyser offered me Modus 3 or C Taper Lite. Modus 3 has such a great feel, but it was impossible to argue with the C Taper Lite dispersion (much harder to lose left). I’m sure your videos helped me make a more informed decision. Thanks!

Really interested in this. I’ve been playing Nippon NSPro 1050 S flex for about 10 years. Recently had an iron fitting for the MP20-HMB. Started with Modus 105’s and the Mizuno fitting gadget and fitter put me into the C-Taper Light S flex. Needless to say the head and shaft combo yielded substantial distance gains 10-15 yards and higher ball flight over the MB’s with similar dispersion. Really interested to understand the subtly in those bend profiles.

I predict the new KBS $-TAPER HT (heavy tip) shaft model will eventually become the most popular iron shaft for KBS.
At the present time, they are only offered in 120g-Stiff, 125g-Stiff+ and 130g X-Stiff versions.
In my opinion, one would have to try very hard to make a bad swing with a KBS $-TAPER HT shafted club, given what I have felt with them thus far.
    Watch for it.

  • @SeanSeesMedia
    @SeanSeesMedia 4 года назад +1

Well after my first proper club fitting, the shaft that worked best for me was a kbs and it was actually the c taper 130. It provided much better dispersion than the modus i tried and was actually turning over a bit and landing left of target line which is what I'm aiming for. The dg x100 in 130 was just leaving too many balls out to the right and my contact was not as good. Turns out that bend profile of the c taper with it being stiffer in the butt end, along with less stiffness decrease to the mid and almost non existent drop to the tip section works much better with my tempo and specifically my strong move at transition.

    • @jon4715
      @jon4715 7 месяцев назад

About the C-taper compared to Dynamic Gold.
Mizuno blades in my assembly, prev iously DG with MP69 and later with C-taper on MP4 heads, both in X-Stiff. Both were fitted, but with different equipment and person.
From dispersion point of view the DG was all over the place, like a barn wide area. Putting in the C-Taper 130/X and it narowed the shots into a family car sized area.
Also describing the C-taper being a post is spot on. Hence dynamically it feels really responsive shaft at impact, if you flush it. Defenately not a shaft for people, who don’t find the sweet spot more often.
The X-100 feels like a rubber band or orange whip after hitting few with the 130/X C-taper. The rigidness in C-Taper give better feedback on where the clubhead is really travelling. And a consistent feel and understanding of the face orientation midswing.
I’m thinking, the C-Taper is tons of stiffer in torque and that is the reason for it being so accurate at least for me.
I’m in my early 50’s now and have had multiple injuries since three years back and started worrying which way to go when changing next time had I need to dial down.
The C-Tapers have really been awesome and I even have them on my wedges, which I’ve thought changing from the 130/X to 125/S+ on next iteration.
The main concern is, will I ever find anything as accurate and sharp to replace the C-Tapers when need to dial down getting older. Really loving the feel, and the looks is awesome too!

This shows how important it's to get a proper custom fit. And it also explain why there are so many shaft to choose between. One shaft doesn't fit all swings.

I went in and got fit for the project x 6.5 and compared it to the c taper. I had a very similar sentiment to the static feel of the c taper being heavy and feeling bulky. I wasn’t as fortunate as Matt to hit it well but he hit the nail on the head with the feel of it just waggling it back and forth. The project x 6.5 had a smoother less stout feeling to me which, I know many people would say the opposite and say project x feels “board like”

This video, like all of yours, is fascinating. I am 79, will be 80 in June, have played for 59 years, but am just an average 16-18 handicapper (mostly because I insist on using weak lofted forged thin blades, insist on playing from tees ranging from 6300-6800, and lose 4 or 5 strokes a round from poor chipping. I can drive it pretty well, around 225-235 yards, and hit my 76 degree 7-iron 135-140 yards (it was my 150 yard club 10 years ago). So I have absolutely no business thinking about this kind of heavy, extra stiff shaft. But your incredibly detailed technical analysis of every aspect of shafts is simply the best there is. It's like living in the super tech world of De Chambeau. I can watch your tests of various things for hours. Any chance you could do a comparative analysis of shafts for a senior player like me? That is, if you can find someone to swing a club with those shafts. Maybe one of you has a father or grandfather!!

M77G interesting you say that because I’d totally agree! They feel best for me when I’m taking a partial swing, which is so against what I would’ve guessed. I always thought they felt boardy just holding them, but smoother than a baby’s bottom under tension.

Always seem to straight pull the c taper. Seem to get a little more distance with the $ maybe its because there is less spin.
Love to see the dg120 take on an $ taper.
You make an interesting point regarding balance point will this cause the hands to rotate more or less through impact? I.e should a golfer that hooks(club path in to out face closed to path) go for a higher balance point or lower as a general rule

I was fitted for the P770's last year with modus 3 shafts although they said I might do better with the P790's) but liked the look of the P770's better. I seem to have lost a bit of distance from my old set (R11's) I'm a 4 handicap who is 65. and not too strong. Recently went again for a fitting with TM and the P790 with a KBS lite (110 grams) flew the ball 8-10 yds farther with my 7 iron; and a better ball flight. Do you think if I re-shafted my 770's with the KBS shafts I would gain this kind of distance?
    Thanks

Just curious if swingweights were the same or if the $-Taper would be a lighter feel due to the higher balance point. If you add weight to the head would the ground contact move ahead with the $-Taper and provide different results?
Great comparison-I prefer the $-Taper due to
Feel and the C-Tapers felt harsher for me.
    Great information, Gents-Well done again!

I use the $-TAPER HT (heavy tip) 120, a new model released in early 2020, which is more bottom heavy and lower balanced than the regular $-Taper and $-Taper Lite are. I liked the regular $-TAPER when I tested it, but didn't like the higher balance point on the shaft, which is why I went with the $-TAPER HT version instead.
Additionally, my understanding is that the $-TAPER was designed by KBS to fit somewhere in between the C-TAPER and TOUR shafts.
For me, the $-TAPER HT is the best feeling golf shaft for irons I have ever swung in my life.

Hey guys, can you answer a question of mine?
I got fitted for Project X 6.0 shafts in the ping iblade because my average smash factor was 1.45. However, when I bought the clubs and started playing them all my shots ballooned. So I quickly changed back to my old clubs which had the kbs tour 120s, and the ballooning stopped.
I swing pretty hard as I carry my 6 iron around 195 but I feel timing is my issue so I like heavier shafts cause they seem to set up my swing well.
Could you recommend a shaft to try?

What is the typical swing speed that someone that fits into x version of these shafts? I was fitted 2 weeks ago and they put me in the Ctaper x with a 92 SS/quick tempo in 7 iron. It now feels like too much work to get the distance and I’m thinking I should have be put into the S or S+. I hit the ball about 165-170 with these shafts where I got 173-178 with S300. My distance falls off more in the 4/5 iron with this shaft.
