Don't blame SNL, blame the social climate we live in. Like, people keep trying to cancel Dave Chappelle every other week for his jokes even though the man's style of comedy has been consistent for the past 20+ years. He pokes fun at everyone. Male, female, black, white, Asian, Mexican, gay, straight, trans, rich, poor, disabled, democratic, republican. No race, religion, political party etc. etc. is off limits and not even his own wife gets a free pass from being used as a punch line. It's so annoying how people try to police comedians and have no understanding of what a joke is nowadays.

These two have to be the best casting for this segment. Please give them what they want and keep them on forever!
Agreed. When they were first introduced all those years ago I wasn't thrilled. I love Seth and Amy as well as Tina and Amy. But man, their comedic chemistry is probably one of the best I have seen
Che is a good writer but terrible at his job imo. He half laughs through every joke he reads and ruins it. He has no timing.
For sure. They're the only funny thing on SNL. For decades now.
@@bpal7006he’s terrible in general. He doesn’t come up with his own ideas (ie. he steals them) and he’s a racist misogynist.
Let's keep Jost, and replace Che with Veronda
You can really appreciate how reserved the writing staff is told they have to be. SNL should be way more like this each weekend.
@@nissan_skylineit has not been consistent and I love Dave Chappelle 😂
@@nissan_skylineLol what? Dave didn’t start obsessing with trans people until incredibly recently.
I watched it 4 straight times in a row. That was the darkest joke swap ever, but I was hysterical at their faces 😂 Colin finally got Michael, at least evenly!
No way, Michael was one step ahead. Colin finally made che panic though, and it was hilarious.
You watched 4 times because you couldn’t believe that this crap was being normalized …. NORMALIZED via humor…. Horrible!
@@FrancineCampbell-Hakimlmao shut uppppp.. laugh a little.
wahhhhhhh@@FrancineCampbell-Hakim
This made me watch all the other ones in a row and I realized they reached their apex mountain
These joke swaps are always some of the funniest content SNL puts out, but this one was absolutely SAVAGE! I had tears in my eyes I laughed so hard. 🤣
The best ever.
Watched it a second time and teared up again.
The moment at @2:13 is absolute perfection - when Jost assumed the joke was over then saw the next cue to go for a fist bump.
The man is married to Scarlett Johansson. No matter what they throw at him... he wins.
Two times divorced + tattoos, a walking red flag.
@@PROVOCATEURSK Colin Jost has tattoos?
@@PROVOCATEURSK what kind of red flag are we talking about? 🤨
red flags work when you still want to mount your pole to fly it.
snl did have a nice skit on Red Flag perfume, tho...
Like Scarlet said. She doesn’t need his paycheck
The most savage joke swap of all time between these two. This is what makes the holidays great 😂😂😂
They really need to give these two their own half hour Weekend Update show
How about we replace the regular news broadcasts everyday with them? I’ll take my news in this form better than any other
This is The Daily show I want!
I disagree, this is like sweet candy: you are ecstatically anticipating and enjoy it so much when it finally arrives because it's not a regular feature... the moment it becomes a regular feature it will lose its allure and it'll be just regular and droned out work.
I agree - SNL is always brilliant but these two would make a great show in their own right.
Only reasons I come to SNL, it Weekend Update.
its amazing how good these two are together. They can push the boundaries and everyone realizes that they aren't going to pull punches but it still comes off as lighthearted. I've seen a lot of weekend update but i think we are seeing the best ever anchors.
Two of the best
Holy hell a better black widow than Coretta Scott King. That one hurt me that's going down as one of the most brutal joke swaps in history feel like we'll be talking about that one for the next decade I actually squirmed after hearing it
I'm literally crying laughing through this one!!! And congratulations, Colin Jost! You finally got some jokes that made Michael Che lose it!! 😆🤣😂😅😂
Sis this was absolutely the best ever and Colin got him good 🤣🤣🤣
Wear a Depends when watching Che&Jost!!!!!!
He finally got a couple scorchers on Michael !
SNL, please don't stop doing these joke swaps! Joke swaps for 50 more years!
Brilliant format that allows jokes that would otherwise get people cancelled and/or physically attacked.
@@amerlin388 that let’s you know that they knew those jokes and that whole segment was inappropriate!
That's too short! I'm thinking 150 years!!!😂
@@FrancineCampbell-Hakim There she is... there she is...
Because of their reaction, I believe that they are seeing these jokes for the first time
Just when I thought that maybe, maybe, this year Colin was the winner here, Michael Che's last joke just took the victory. Incredible jokes.
it was closer than usual though
Man. I lost my mom two days ago and I saw this last night for the first time. and for five minutes, I completely forgot about it. I haven’t laughed this hard in a LONG TIME. This is great 😂😂😂
I’m so sorry to hear about your mother. How are you holding up?
Humor helps a lot ❤. Sorry for your loss.
I'm sorry for your loss 😢
My condolences!
Sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers
Jost came out swinging but Che is always one step ahead. These were amazing 🤣
This was good. But in all the years they have been doing this, the '23 April Fools episode will always be the best.
I thought it was pretty equal, except Che brought out Hattie.
I thought Colin won this one. The MJ and Y’all need Jesus jokes were excellent.
Colin and Michael trying to rip each other a new one is regularily the best part of the show.
@4:19 LOVE that when Colin extends his hand she cowers back like "WTF, don't touch me!!!" Epic
That lean back like I’m good😂😂😂
Ho Exactly 😂😂😂😂
It’s been 2 weeks and I can’t stop watching this!!! It was definitely an amazing skit of 2023
When Michael kept saying “Wow” in disbelief after the Jesus joke you could tell he was genuinely impressed by Colin😆
I thoroughly enjoy Weekend Update normally but this one had me laughing out loud because of how savage each joke was and their respective reactions. Had me dying at the attempted fist pump and her reaction!!
My favorite thing on SNL! The fact that they're great friends makes the whole thing epic!
OMG! My sides are killing me from laughing so hard... You can't deny the talent and interaction of these two characters.
3:43 that's the look of a man who doesn't give a shit about being cancelled, long as once a year he gets to go on TV and remind the world that he gets to be married to Scarlett Johansson.
I AM SO GLAD THAT THEY BROUGHT THIS BACK THIS YEAR! This has to be one of THE funniest joke swaps in years and i really hope they do more of these 🤣😭
I’ve never seen Che break like that THANK YOU THIS WAS AMAZING 😂😂😂
Probably the most vicious they've been towards each other during the joke swaps. Jost really stepped up, but Che was just as savage as always. Good thing they're friends. LOL
The way Dr Davis looked at Colin at the end has so much meme potential 😂
""Doctor" of what, buffoonish haircuts?
She wouldn't shake his hand! 😂
The cue card probably read Colin goes for a fist bump and is refused.
No…she literally wouldn’t shake Colin’s hand at the end of the skit after they wrapped up. 😂 Took the non fist bump to a new level.
Fun Fact: Haddie Davis is just a made up character, to make Collin feel guilty about his jokes.
Michael really had an ace up his sleeve with the special guest😂. Brilliant
😂 Best one ever. I died when Colin tried to fist bump her
each joke has grown into a double or tripple expansion into other jokes. its funny how each year they get better and better. also collins face when micheal threw the plot twist was amazing
I have a strong feeling Hattie was trying her best not to break down laughing hysterically at all of Colin's jokes that Michael wrote
No I dont think so. She is a incredibly serious person - she isnt funny and doesnt usually express levity on camera. Did you see how she refused to shake Colin's hand even AFTER the sketch ended and the cameras were pulling off? Yeah even though she knows this is humor she cannot allow herself to be seen condoning the jokes Colin told - even though Che wrote them. Thats how SERIOUS she is!
@@breakdancinfool I don't know how to tell you this, but there's no such activist named Hattie Davis. She's an actor that Che hired.
@@MelodicQuestThe woman walked with King!
Anyway, she held character, but you could tell it wasn’t easy sometimes. 😁
@@kellyalves756she’s an extra on SNL, has appeared before. She’s not a real activist. It’s part of the joke.
Reddit has a tell all thread about it.
@@breakdancinfool I love when people pretend to know something only to be called out on it right away.
Colin and Michael remain the best, funniest part of any Saturday Night Live episode. I love Weekend Update.
I love how as soon as Che introduced Hattie Davis, Colin could see where this was going.
Oh, he could see his 1st one on the cue card! 😳🤣
Jost could see where it was going when they said "joke swap" 😂🤣
The awkward “hi” was great
loved watching che squirm a bit!!! you can tell he was caught off guard lmaoo
As Pete Davidson said a few weeks ago "sometimes comedy is really the only way forward from tragedy" - thank you to Michael and Colin for letting us laugh again during these times.
Pete Davidson is a joke
Amen
@@alidi4144 Yes he is but you're being a dick. Its a true statement.
The joke swaps are the only bit of SNL I look forward to cause they never disappoint😂
I like the " seen here..." bits
The best one yet. Jost’s jokes for Che were actually savage 😂
Jost has hit is 'Stride'. He caught up with Che😢😂.
As a kid when weekend update would come on I would go to bed. Now this is my favorite part of the show. And the joke swap ones are probably my favorite overall.
Literally in tears from start to finish 😂😂😂. Savage jokes from BOTH of them! So glad they finally brought this segment back 😊❤
They brought back Joke Swap. I wasn't even expecting it, and I am so happy.
It’s not every year but when they do you know you’re in for a treat… unless you’re Jost.
@@OvSpPit has been, covid ruined it once and something else happened to make it two years in a row , or 2 of last 3, something like that..but I can’t remember what exactly
best part of SNL, hands down. Never let these 2 go.
Not Colin being left hanging with the fist bump and the handshake at the absolute end! 😂😂😂
This was so bloody good! Colin has finally become ruthless!
That was hysterical! Best one ever! When Colin reached out for a fistbump I nearly peed myself! 😅😅😅 PEACE!
Aww damn that part nearly broke me 😂😂😂
This was the year that I thought Collin was gonna win. That Jesus joke was pure gold. *chefs kiss* but, damn, Mikey came in swinging hard. I as soon as I heard the first one I was like “damn, Che got it again.” This is the skit I look forward to all year.
Colin and Michael have obviously been writing jokes for each other here and there during regular segments, but it’s been awhile since they’ve done an “official” joke swap… I’m so glad it’s back! It’s my favorite SNL bit of all time. 😂
last episode of the year is a banger just for the swaps.
My face hurts from laughing. 😂😂😂 This is their best yet and I can't stop hyperventilating
3:53 That was the coldest one of them all!
That opening was *HILARIOUS!!* lmmfao It's almost like your mom calling your dad into the room and going "Now, tell *Him* what you just told *Me"* 😂😂😂😂😂
2:53 I think this is the first time we’ve seen real fear in Che lmao
“You’re an even better black widow than Coretta Scott King.”
dead
MILLIONS of us look forward to this golden, honest, trusting, back-stabbing moment of the year!
The actor playing Hattie Davis was so great! Refusing to shake Collin’s hand at the end, chef’s kiss!
3:00 oh, the panic when Michael reads "turmoil in the middle east"
These two are the best to ever present Weekend Update. ❤
