HEY! So this was a fun little video to stumble on today! Those Kvissle rails were my brainchild! Kinda crazy to see my desk show up in your video! :D I'm not much of a 3d designer, but I managed to whip those rails up and it's been fun to see how often they get downloaded. Glad you like them!
If you don't have a 3d printer or know anyone with one, a simple and pretty cheap method of expanding the rails is to buy vivarium runners for 4mm glass. You will have to cut them to size but the space in teh runners is 5mm so it will fit the trays from the Kvissle.
I'm using the Kvissle as well, I turned the tray with the tab inwards and glued a magnet to the tab so it sticks a little to the back of the kvissle and doesn't slide out from gravity if you don't keep it level.
This is a really good solution. I really appreciate the bag recommendation, having one that fits this so well and opens in the front is much more elegant than I was thinking of doing. Great stuff!
I use the Ikea Kvissle boxes as well. I drilled holes on the top and put a kitchen drawer handle on it, and I keep the trays in with a length of velcro strap around it.
Got the JUCOCI one, with 6 spare trays and the backpack. Best case I ever bought. My Tyranids live in there and made it clear, they ain't sharing it with my Death Guard.
I tell myself I'm going to finish my army so I can play, but really I'm just looking forward to transporting my models like a boss with my Ikea letter tray and some magnets. A cheap bag option are the insulated courier bags, which come in all kinds of configurations and give plenty of padding.
Man, this is exactly what I was looking for, for my model collection! Excellent video! It also made me smile to see you also have the Street Fighter BG (one of my all time fav Kickstarters I have backed)
Hey, Awesome video. I have 8 kvissels as part of my storage and transport setup. They fit perfectly in the detolf shelves as well to increase model count. I found a can cooler at a grocery store that they fit inside, I superglued a handle on the top of the kvissel to pull it out.
This is a great video, thank you! Was looking for a solution having just got into Warhammer with my son and was about to take the plunge in the Jucoci but think Kvissle it is! Less than half the price including the bag is a much better entry point! Thank you
I've done the cake sheet and the plastic bin with metal liner in the bottom (galvanised roof flashing works great and is cheap) and regular cookie sheets in mailer boxes. My current favorite is the boxes that bulk paper comes in, a local print shop regularly gives them out. They're exactly 12"x18"x4.5" on the inside nd I like how the top folds down over the bottom more than mailer style boxes. The Kvissle looks intriguing
Pour IPA onto the cork which will absorb it pretty well, then leave for about an hour with another sheet ontop of it to slow evaporation, then the cork will just come off and leave behind the adhesive sheet which can be peeled off in one piece
there are some sewing machine bags as well as some picnic/cooling bags that that open in the front and fit the Kvissle, so depending in the region it is worth looking around what is available (like for central europe/germany, W6 Overlock Transporttasche is a perfect fit)
My local thrift store has dozens of those rolling carry-on luggage bags for just a couple of bucks. Just have to find one to fit the Kvissle and its a wrap!
Yeah I was able to remove the cork pretty easy with acid tone 100%. Pour it on and it just pops off it still leaves the sticky residue which well can be an upside of not even magnetizing but I was told that you can use peanut butter to remove adhesive pretty easily
3:55 this Foam stuff is the absolute apocalypse in terms of transporting minis, as much as it wil soften any blows it will violently grab on smaller and pointier parts of minis and aboliterate them right back into the abyss in which cadias debris are resting
SO I use a War-ganizer which is similar to what you have here but smaller scale and 3d printed. It has the trays that slide out that I just used steel flashing sheets to magnetize the trays.
You must have huge biceps to carry that around. They're heavy! I was able to remove the cork slowly and carefully using hot water. Usually there is some leftover glue residue so I just got some very thin shelf paper to cover over it and its still very magnetic.
I may need to pick one of these up. My only issue, is that my nagash would require all shelves to be removed. If I bought one, I would need to run a center rail and cut the shelves in half. I think my black coach would cause issues as well. Being 10.5" long and over 5.5" tall, it wouldn't fit on a half shelf, and would take up half the height of the case. I may still pick one up and try to make it work though
If I were you, I would store the huge models in a plastic container by themselves (those cheap storage containers) and only use these for medium to small minis as you lose the advantage of having shelves.
@@gaminggeek241 Currently I'm using a Hart rolling tool cart (like milwaukees packout). I put a metal shelf in it on hinges. All of my smaller minis go on 3d printed trays (the bottom of the tray is thin enough for the magnets to stick to the metal shelf. I 3d printed a box for nagash so that he can lay down under the shelf. I was just trying to think of something smaller so that it doesn't take up so much space in the car. This shelf would work great for 1000pt.
You can but because it fits in the bag so tightly, I don't think I need braces. If I was pulling the unit in and out of a bag, then I think I would brace it.
Swedish pronunciation: quiss-le (slightly drawn out s-sound, le as in lettuce). English pronunciation: quizzle (like drizzle, but with the harder ku-sound, not a ka-vizzle sound). 😁 Don't know if it's applicable to the US side of Ikea stores, but the Danish Ikea site says that this product is on the way out of their line-up.
I have 2 of the Ikea Kvissle cubes but still need to put them together. I havent because i first need to organize and cull my games on the shelves. Lol. Dust question. Do you have a solution to keep the minis from collecting dust while on a Kallax shelf? Im thinking of adding clear acrylic or plexiglass doors but not sure yet.
No, dust is a bigger issue with open shelves, which is why I store mine behind glass doors. If you can, you should definitely put on plexi doors. Here's a link to some options on Etsy (sort of pricey though): www.etsy.com/market/acrylic_glass_door_kallax
direct steele, sometimes, is too strong, and depending on the glue, the magnets can stay attached to the steele and not to the base, the easy solution is a sheet of kitchen paper, or large tissues
Wow, that is a great setup. Those metal drawers have label areas so can easily sort miniatures by the game or genre you want. Need zombies, just grab a "zombie" tray. *Edit* which I commented on while watching the video, not even 10 seconds later you mention the labels. HA!
Yes, I'll come out with a review towards the end of this year after playing through some. In terms of skirmish, I still like Deadzone the best and they are coming out with a Halo version later this year that I want to try.
This is just based off of photos, but to me, the Harvmatta looks exactly the same as the Kvissle, just in black. But I don't have one so can't say for sure.
I wonder if you could grid arrange 10mm magnets on the metal side and use this to hold mini’s with metal plates under their basis… 10mm might have enough grippy to hold through the metal and cork, giving you best of both worlds.
I feel like there is too much glue but if you are patient, you can cut a hole with a blade and then peel it out. I just felt like 3D printing was faster and easier.
@@gaminggeek241 I bought one yesterday and for half of the first plate it was a lottle messy but I don't mind, it'll only tpuch the underside of my bases. Can you state the time stamp of the tool you are talking about? Not sure what you mean. I didn't magnetize the trays since they are already made of steel. But I did put disc magnets into the bases of the miniatures.
Anyone come up with an elegant solution for the sides buckling out under load and the shelves falling down? I'm looking into putting some sort of tension wire from center left to center right. But it's clumsy at best. Thoughts?
I love my KVISSLE, the only flaw is indeed the tabs facing downwards when you flip the shelves over. It makes it so you can't pull out the shelf beneath if the minis reach the bottom of the tray above, because they'll bump the downward tab as you pull them out and just make a complete pile of mess. I actually have to take out one shelf at a time, starting from the top one, anytime I want a mini from the lower shelves. Very annoying. I also tried removing the cork and it was absolutely impossible, I ended up with a bent and scraped shelf.
It seems very obnoxious to put the drawers in upside down. To peel the cork off, put the trays in the oven at 200 F for 10 minutes. You can then pull the cork off in one sheet. Clean the residue with goo gone.
