Chetna's comment @7:30 or so about splitting - I too have lived this heartache. Made a meal I really wanted to work, and it fell to bits and I had no main! I then started looking at other recipes and googled "why did my Koftas fall apart", and ALWAYS use cornflour. How much, I am never sure.

This looks so good! Kofta curry is top of my list of favorite foods.
Where I live, despite being a large city, Indian restaurants are few and far between, and so expensive, but Indian food is my favorite kind. I’ve been wanting to learn how to cook it, but it always seemed so complicated. Thank goodness for cooking videos! And, fortunately, I know where to go for the ingredients. I’m not vegetarian, but I don’t like much meat and rarely eat it, so I really appreciate the vegetarian recipes. Now all I need is to find the energy to do it!

Dhanyavaad Chetna. I am learning Indian cuisine. Just love your use of the ingredients. Tried your roti recipe and first off I used regular whole wheat flour which, you can imagine came out tough and. OMG they were frisbee 🙀. Then my 2nd round I bought Atta. The real flour and since then my rotis have greatly improved 😊
Also tried your Mum's Aloo recipe and it came out ok. So I suppose I need more practice.

Thank you from Minneapolis, Chetna! I made this for Valentine’s Day 2023. The flavors turned out delicious. This is my 1st time making it, but it is my go-to dish that I’ve had at Indian restaurants for over 20 years.
I notice the versions I’ve previously eaten were cooked around the entire kofta, are they typically cooked in a deep fryer at restaurants? Is that how you get the sides browned too?
Also, what is your take on incorporating cashews and/or dried fruit or raisins? I noticed that sometimes they are in there, other times not.
I look forward to watching more of your videos and learning. Thanks again! ♥️

In addition I may also add some chopped tomatoes either fresh or from a can to make the sauce go a bit further and add to the texture.
I did like the kofte receipe and I think they would go well with umli.

Whatever looks like a green bean in the pepper section of your grocery store's vegetable aisles, or if you see a similar sized pepper that's red. If not, try 1/3 of a jalapeno. It's my understanding that jalapeno heat varies, though. It's adding heat, without the vinegary taste of a hot sauce. If you find neither, and want the heat, you could likely use either cayenne or chipotle powder.
