Looks yummy! Will try this soon A smart hack to make fried onions, Microwave it for 3 minutes after slicing them fine. Which is usually the time it takes for the oil to heat....saves a good amount of time for making "Bista" (aka fried onions). A pinch of salt also helps with the make it crispy ps : if you overdo the microwave, onions can turn mushy, but i seen 3 to 3.5 minutes is just the right time to get onions warm and starting to steam.
That looks SO amazing. (I actually salivated looking at the beautiful spread at the end!) I am definitely going to try this. Thank you for sharing this recipe and your talents with us.
Oh, such a beautiful recipe!! I'm still learning to cook Indian cuisine, so I get really excited when I realize that I have all the spices necessary to make this!! Thank you, Chetna!
What a brilliant channel! On one hand I wish I'd discovered you sooner, on the other hand I have a new library of top notch content to watch. Thank you for your work!
That looked amazing…..you make your dishes look divine. What was it that you served with it….a Dahl?? Could you put a link in the description to that recipe please?
I just made this. Its going to make a great lunches for the week. Thanks for sharing your recipes. It is so Yummy. The rose water just added an extra depth of favor.
Morning Chetna I totally love the looks of your rice I don’t have a gas stove ..... so can you please give me your best instructions on how to make it? Thank you!
I love your recipes! I have to say, though, that the medium to small sized whole spices concern me, because I’m feeding two young grandkids (who also love your recipes!), and they don’t always pay attention before biting! So I usually use ground star anise and cardamom.
Hi Chetna! Loved this version of biryani. I am not vegan (yet!) but was wondering if you also had a version of Jackfruit Biryani? I’ve seen a few versions on RUclips but I would rather have your version! BTW I’ve made a seitan version of your butter chicken! It was amazing! 🤗
Lovely recipe Chetna can you tell me what other dishes you served to make a fantastic supper for your family and guests. I struggle to.know what dishes to combine to make a special meal Thank you.
I didn't even know that Chole aloo biryani was a thing until I had loads of chole masala left over and started searching for ways to use it up. Will definitely be trying this today. Thanks a lot Chetna
Oh thank you for showing how you cook the spices. And the Star Anise in the Jasmine rice looks so savory. I just about lost my mind when you layered on those crispy onions! No more French’s Fried Onions from a can for Green Bean casserole for Thanksgiving. 🤗 Take good care and Goddess bless you and your family. 🌈🙏💗
Hey Chetna, thank you for this wonderful recipe. I didn't know something like this even existed and decided to randomly try it out. Turned out perfect. Thanks for sharing :)
So this was very special so easy you know sometimes you think other cultures food is going to be so hard to construct and perfect but you know Chetna , you are so perfect to share these videos with us because you're so slow when you speak, Ur speaking is just wonderful, when I watch your show I learn something every time and this dish is going to be on my Thanksgiving table yes I can't wait to try this your special happy holidays🍁🍃☘🌿🌱🌾🍂🍁😘🥰🎊🎊🎊🎊💞💛💚🖤🤎🧡🌲🌲🌲🌲
Did this tonight, chetna and went down really well with the vegetarians in my family. I didn’t use the silver foil or bread but relied on my heavy le crueset lid to seal and it seemed to do the trick! On another matter my Indian-born mum when making biryani used to fry the uncooked rice in a little oil with the onions before making the curry in the same pot; once the meat /veggies were cooked she would then add boiling water to a thumbnail height (her thumbnail) above the contents. She would put in a very slow oven until the rice had absorbed all the flavoured curry water. Do you have any comments on this style of cooking this rice dish? I suppose it produces a more intense taste
Hi Chetna! Lovely recipe 😊 I usually add the chopped cilantro when I fry the onions for layering. Just when the onions are almost golden. That way, when I steam the biryani it keeps the bright green color. 🥰
I made this last night for dinner guests and it was so delicious! I was planning to serve it with dal but the day was just too hot to do more hot dishes. So I served it with cucumber and mint raita, a carrot salad and Madhur Jaffrey's recipe for Gujerati-style green beans (which I've been cooking for about 30 years). Thanks from Wellington, New Zealand 😊.
I do not recall ever seeing bread dough used to seal the space between a pot and its lid (and the foil, too, in this case). I was trying to think of of what else one might use, and came up with kuch nahin. Very interesting and Shubh Diwali to you.
@@0arjun077 ok-never made it that way but then I have not made it very often; ours is more of a South Indian household with some West thrown in and a touch of North from time to time.

4:50 but you did add chat masala which will have salt ... remember you said sour note after that? ... i am able to buy two three different varieties of chat masalas one by mdh and two by shan one of which is called fruit chat masala and all three are salty (may be a little sour)
I wonder if you could try to recreate something I saw here on RUclips. On the channel fung brothers they did a video on fusion food in New York city, and they went to an Indochinese restaurant and had a bok Choi pakora with chutney, pomegranate, and rose petals that looked divine. Could you try making this?
Do you know a way to cook chickpeas without onions or garlic? Since having the Omicron COVID, I have terrible reactions to both of those. I can’t even be in the same room when they are cooking! I’ve been following you for two years, and have loved your tandoori chicken, Tikka Masala, Chana masala, and moong dal. Now none of it works for me. Sigh. If you can help, please post a recipe! Thank you !
Yep, as you were serving it up, exactly what I figured would happen, happened and I KNOW *I* won't be taking the time to mold it into such a nice 'stack' - I will be making this, but I will just be mixing the ingredients when they are ready. Too much effort for the nice molding only to see it fall apart as it's served. But, dang! Looks scrumptious! *#FoodWithChetna** **#EasternIndianCooking** **#Biryani*
Today we made the way you did. Can't wait to open it. Just 10 min to go. Thanks for sharing these wonderful receips for us.

It is often used in Dum cooking technique.

We don't have Waitrose in Germany 😆 Looks nice, but potatoes and rice together seems like a lot of carbs!
You can get spices from anywhere
I've bought all the spices from my local supermarket in New Zealand - Waitrose not necessary 🙂
Did you say to put it back on the Hog? So is that top of stove or in the oven? ❤😂
Happy Diwali Chetna!
🌷🌷🌷❤️👍
Thanks
Four hour round trip for me to get to my nearest Waitrose. I'll have to rely on my local ethnic shop. Good looking biriyani though.

Hello Mam, are chickpeas cooked or canned?
You can use cooked or canned
@@FoodwithChetna Thank you mam 😊. I will try this recipe. I tried black channa, soya chunks and potato biryani, it turned out well.

What did you serve the biriyani with?
plain moong dal, recipe on the channel

How young are you dear Chetna, I'm intrigued by your beauty

veg biryani is not a biryani .... its a pulao or a scam :D
maybe you dont know the difference between biryani and pulao, its not veg or meat but the technique
It's shameful how lazy I am with my biryanis.
Its one of my favourite meals
If theres no meat its not a biriyani..its called pulao
