Bodycam Shows Police Rescuing Kidnapped Child in Atlanta

  • Published on Apr 6, 2022
  • Bodycam video shows police rescuing a kidnapped child in Atlanta this week. The suspect, 38-year-old Darius White, allegedly stole a car with a 9-year-old child still in the backset. The Atlanta Police Department teamed with State and local law enforcement officers to catch this car thief and rescue the kidnapped child. Upon arrival, officers met with caller, Ms. Jerrica Moore who advised she had pulled into the parking lot of the location, where she exited her vehicle, leaving her keys and her 9-year-old son inside. Suddenly an unknown male jumped into her vehicle and sped away from the location with her child still in the car. White was charged with kidnapping, cruelty towards children, and theft.

No, what's messed up is stealing a car with a child inside and repeatedly shouting "He hit us, he tried to kill us" to try and connect yourself to that child and act like you are a victim. Love the way the officer checked on and comforted the child, that was wonderful.

Any sense of morality would be the only driving force for me to sacrifice myself for those kids. I’ve done it as a wounded Marine combat veteran and still do in my current profession.

Maybe the kid is also confused by the fact that his mom didn't do everything she could have to protect him and prevent this from happening as she left the car running while she ran into a Goodwill store and I doubt that she had locked the car up while her son was sitting in it .

@Jess That comment on defunded and not abolished was a true statement. However, from a personal standpoint, I do not need a law enforcement officer to protect my person. I am well qualified to do so on my own. All that is required to fully do so is for law enforcement personnel to honor the right that I have to self-defense through the invocation of the liberty to keep and bear arms under the Second Amendment to the Bill of Rights.

@Rick Vassell He couldn't breathe because of a situation he himself made.
He basically made himself unable to breathe.
If you can't handle consequences, don't do bad things.

People usually buy the "perpetrator is the victim" act. This is what you enable if you're trying to feel sorry for the bad guy all the time.

@Ctib Poi think the police only does a PIT when its safe to do so for the passengers/driver. Not sure though

    • Ctib Po
      Ctib Po 3 months ago

Except however... that the most frightening aspect was most likely the PIT maneuver itself. The kid could have been killed or permanently disabled. Doing a PIT to save an innocent child seems way too cowboy.

Thank you for a "You sacrifice yourself daily, you get belittled, you get harassed, and then the world dumps on you for the shame brought by a small percentile. Yet, THESE MOMENTS rarely MAKE the news cycles or STAY in the news cycle so more of us can applaud your Bravery and Dedication while you PROTECT & SERVE!" job... INCREDIBLY done!👏👏👏👏👏
(I hope those "Defund The Police" reductions were put back WITH INTEREST because you definitely deserve a raise, backpay, and upgrades in your tech. And a bigger raise!)

There’s no such thing as excessive force when it comes to child kidnappers and abusers.

    • Clarence Worley
      Clarence Worley 3 months ago

maybe kind of, but you can't just start murdering people because you believe them to be a kidnapper. it's OK in this case, but there have been plenty of times cops were called on someone, and it turned out to be actual parent the kid was with.
