I heard that Rob Holloway, the officer who was shot in the head, retired this past January. The injury didn't kill him, Thank God. But it did end his career. He retired to focus on his health. Best wishes to him and all the officers who were involved in this.

This happened about 5 miles from my house. Our entire community rallied around Sgt. Holloway and his family. The surviving shooter was just convicted and sentenced to life with no parole a few months ago, and I hope he rots in prison.

Same here... I am Belgian. We are getting more violence because of the cocaine smuggling routes are now mainly here in our country thru the port of Antwerpen. It's no longer Rotterdam (Holland).
We had a brief period where scores were being settled with automatic guns and granades but it was mainly in Antwerp. During the 80s we had a lot of money transports and super markets being robbed in very bloody ways but that ended in the 90s. In the States, it seems to be growing each year.

I'm European and live in the EU, and even I know that theres 10 European countries that have a higher rate per capita of mass shootings than the US. Look it up "mass shooting rate per capita by country". And this is just compared to the US average, if we break it down to US states, you'll see that about half of US states had only 1 or no mass shootings in their entire history. Most European countries had more mass murders than that.
And the US states that had many mass shootings and high crime rates, are mostly left leaning states and blue cities that have a disgusting fetish for Europe. Other than that, the safest areas in the WORLD, are red conservative rural areas in the US with the highest rates of gun ownership.
If you let a few high profile incidents brainwash you about how horrible the US is, thats your problem. I'd move straight to the middle of the US tomorrow if I had a green card.

As someone who grew up in Atlanta, this is still very scary stuff. Imagine the stress the officers must have been in knowing that their lives could’ve been taken at any moment, and the danger they put themselves in to protect innocent lives. Makes you appreciate the small moments in life that seem to pass by.

This happened in 2021, so I'm sure they recovered.
This happened April 12, 2021. Two of the officers/deputy were back to work fairly quickly. The Sgt who was shot in the head and crashed into the pole, has since retired and undergone physical and speech therapy.
The other 2 officers injured returned to work.
Sgt Holloway retired from the force. Sounds like he made a remarkable recovery for what happened to him.
I don't understand why these kids throw their lives away fighting with law enforcement. You can't win a gun fight with them.

Yes, it's a fantastic movie. Tragic comedy loosely based on the Odessey but set in depression era south with an amazing soundtrack full of bluegrass and other old time folk music.
Man of Constant Sorrow is a traditional song thats been done by many musicians, its dated to around 1913 and popularized by the Stanley brothers in 1951. I couldn't tell if it was the soggy bottom boys version from the movie.

I suppose he had seatbelts on, so he didn't suffer major injuries. In Italy, most police officers don't use it because they're undereducated (policemen here are underpaid). That's why often they have serious injuries in a crash. And also because there's a specific exempt for them, defined by someone who doesn't know anything about car crashes.
When a policeman backs away like that, there's not much to do. 😔
Yeah, it must've been scary and sad to see the police car just slowly drifting off the road like that after shots are fired... plus seeing it crash into the pole at at least 40-50 mph or more..
You're fearing the worst at that moment for that officer, while also hoping the same doesn't happen to you as you carry on to engage this dangerous armed suspect, feeling the pump of adrenaline and also the rage and urge to avenge your fallen partner

I'm Italian, and seeing policemen patrolling dangerous streets at night alone gives me shivers. In Italy and Europe, patrolling the streets with a single police officer is prohibited and there must be AT LEAST 2 of them!
That with crime rates in Italy being 80% less than in the US safety of the officer comes first.
Please don't make it seem as if we Europeans have the same firearm crazed environment and mentality here, which is the cause in my opinion. Though it is not a light hearted job in Europe, incidents like this are extremely rare in most countries. A single police officer patrolling the streets usually doesn't happen. It is more of a policy to patrol with at least 2.

Cop woulda stood no chance if they decided to pull out that AK when he was walking up to the car
See how easy it was for the 2nd guy to shoot through the back window and get accurate head shots on the officers chasing them. The safe way to chase guys like this is with an armored car, or helicopters. If it was one guy driving, then easier he can't really shoot a Rifle.

There are no good cops and they don’t protect us, they protect property
Cops are the reason, that they are hated so much by so many people. Enforcing laws that keep law abiding citizens from dealing with people that do things like this in the first place. If you want COMPLETE CONTROL of EVERYONES EVERY ACTION. Then you must except sole responsability for all that happens.
They rarely protect anyone statistically. But there are good cops that don't deserve this.

My dad was a police officer, but in a different country. I have a lot of respect for police officers because of the sacrifices they make and they put their lives on the line everyday. Not just them, but their families too.
Well I pray both sides wake up to who is playing them both. Things are going on bigger than just our own stories

@JudyGurl Do not just bring it back. Create a Criminal stature where if someone is proven absolutely guilty. They are quickly sentenced and executed. Such as this case where video shows the complete incident.
