Bodycam Shows Police Snipers Shooting Allegedly Armed Minnesota Man

- The Minneapolis Police Department in Minnesota released bodycam footage showing police snipers shooting an allegedly armed man after a six-hour standoff on July 14. A woman called 911 stating someone shot multiple rounds through her apartment door. When officers arrived, the suspect, 20-year-old Andrew Tekle Sundberg, allegedly shot through a door in the stairwell of his apartment when an officer attempted to initiate contact. While officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, the suspect allegedly threatened to shoot the officers while acting erratically. Snipers stationed across the street identified what appeared to be a gun in Sundberg's hand and fired multiple shots. The suspect died from his injuries at a local hospital. No officers were injured during this incident.

Another part that bothers myself is that his family has said that " he was smart, loving, and kind and also had the innate sensitivity to be capable of loving everyone and everything. It sounds like he was suffering from a mental health crisis". If your child is suffering this bad from mental health, how do you not see it as parents?
Also, why does a 20-year old have a handgun? (assuming it was a handgun fired into the mother/ childrens apartment because I cannot find anything that says what kind of firearm was used).

These cops showed amazing trigger discipline, they were caught off guard by a cat, a neighbor, a woman and kids and managed to distinguish them from a treat in milliseconds while under pressure and no intel on the shooters whereabouts.

Found this video on my recommended, I was at my friends house when this happened. His house was 2 miles away from here. I remember hearing the sirens, shortly after there was an emergency broadcast. It breaks my heart seeing this.

The disgusting thing about this situation, is that people were PROTESTING for the guy shooting. The victim in this video was telling the protesters to stop because he tried to kill her and her kids, and they were YELLING AT HER. Like wtf? Kudos to the officers for their professionalism, trigger discipline and appropriate reflexes especially @3:18 when the terrified and confused toddlers walked out into a potential line of fire looking for mommy.

She was in the most immediate danger of being killed based on the officer seeing the bullets come through the door. She was not intending to separate herself from her children. The officers were forced to get her out of the doorway.

Looking from a cops perspective, it really goes to show how scary it is when there’s multiple doors and you have no idea which room the shooter is in and at any given moment he could pop out and start shooting at you.

Wow, this is some elite level police work. Stayed collected and in control while extracting civilians from the hot zone. Kept everybody safe. Tried very hard to detain the assailant alive. When push came to shove they handled it with precision from a distance, practically eliminating the possibility for collateral damage. Beautiful, really.

Then the sniper restrained himself and confirmed a cell phone, then once confirmed he had a gun he still restrained until the man shot again and then they finally fired and took him out. Meanwhile the neighbors apartment looks like it went through a warzone with a woman and 2 children in it. But people can't understand why she was freaking out on them when they were celebrating the man's life outside her apartment.

How terrifying for that mother. I was so happy when she put the protestors in their place and was disappointed when two of them continued to scream at her supporting this shooter.
She did not forget about them. She came out first in case the gunman was standing near. She was screaming for her kids the second the officer grabbed her arm. She likely thought she would be able to run back and get them.

That mixed with surveillance cameras in alot of homes and almost every business makes them a very valuable tool to protect cops from sticky situations and from lying cops as well.

The cops that genuinely are actually doing their jobs and handling these things justly often times get defamed by media and other outlets. This kind of stuff really affects the ones that are doing what is right and what's best for that situation. They handled this very well.

My first instinct was to criticise the Mum for leaving her kids behind, but she probably didn’t plan on leaving her apartment, was just letting the cops in the stairwell door. She didn’t know where the gunman was so was taking a huge risk like that since he’d shot through her apartment door earlier. Wouldn’t have wanted to take her kids in that corridor until it was safe to.
