Great review, as with the M5 M6 one. I like the look of it, but it’s far too expensive. The pricing of clubs at the moment is ridiculous. If yours and pete’s second hand videos show it’s never about the club
Hi Richard!///Just follow me and stay one release behind!......Most drivers are £300 cheaper when the new model comes out,,,,, with the miniscule if any improvement in performance , you aren't missing out on much!
Comparing this to what was just released for Taylormade, Callaway has accomplished what they said they did. Created more speed, created more distance and a great driver. I am not leaving my Ping driver anytime soon, but Callaway is the winner here. I love your reviews because you always show that it might be a slight increase or no increase at all over the previous year model. Just goes to show you don't always need the latest and greatest. Great video as always Rick!
I bought a G400 Max recently and I can't imagine trading it. Even if I'm a little shorter with it in comparison to other brands, it just looks great at address. All the other brands seem to appear closed at address to me and it messes with me. Ping G400 sets up perfectly.
@@DeronSizemore Same here! Also, when it is hit clean, it just feels like a hot knife through butter. And don't even get me started with the sound it makes!
Wow! My wife bought this driver and a 5 wood...she's a 6 hdcp and loved gaining 10 yards. So I bought the same set. The looks; I'm not a fan of glossy heads...I like it flat black and plain. It's a loud driver but not off putting like the ping G30 it replaced. The colors don't bother me nor do the lines on the crown. The jailbreak tech works wonders if you hit all over the face like I do. Bad shots didn't punish me as all the other drivers did in the past. It had an EvenFlow Reg shaft. My fitting session replaced it for a Hzrdus stiff, 60gram after slicing a few off the planet yesterday and shooting an 87. Today with the new shaft I found 15 of 18 fairways , gained 10 yards and shot a 78. Seeing the ball fade into a high flying bullet that reaches 260-270 yards is a dream drive. The price tag will make you vomit a little but when you hit the thing with the correct fitted shaft...you will buy it.
Loving the new vids mate ..£500 for a new driver no wonder numbers playing golf is down..your banging on some timber rick around the middle like most of us haha
Your review format is the best I've seen on RUclips. Hands down. I'll say at least the Callaway somewhat lives up to its marketing claims. That face design just screams gimmick, but the data apparently says there's at least a little something to it. Still don't think it's going to even remotely help your average weekend warrior golfer, who doesn't have the technique or physical ability to truly get the most out of their clubs. Which then begs the question... why should your weekend warrior spend more than $500 on it? I bought a 2017 GBB epic on clearance from a big box store earlier this year for around $250, a much more reasonable price point. I'll probably be keeping it for several more years at this point. Also, I really did like the look of the GBB epic. This... it just looks tacky. Not a fan. I'm happy they brought the adjustable weights back in so fitters have more flexibility though.
Big fan of Callaway and I will definitely be upgrading my old callaway driver this year to this new Epic Flash Sub Zero. Thanks for the awesome video Rick!
In 2017 you did an amazing review of Callaways drivers from the past 5 yrs. Every one of those drivers including 2012's driver had a higher ball speed than Flash!!! So much for super computers and BS claims.
@@jameskillbot2867 .. 3 of the 5 clubs (2012,2013,2017) produced same 112 Head speed, with higher Ball speeds. The other two of the 5 saw a 1mph faster speed. Which falls into his avg. shown at 3:40 of this video.
Doba drivers are maxed out, you won’t get higher ballspeeds on center shots. They are adding ball speed to misshits, so the only real way to compare or figure out if there is a gain is to look at AVERAGES of lots of shots with misshits included.
I will stick to my GBB Epic from 2016. Love the thing to bits!!! Love this format for your reviews. It's so intuitive, and thorough. Nobody does it better.

I upgraded to this driver recently the epic flash model and I must say I was very impressed with it for distance and the amount of good shots compared to bad shots that came from this club out of 100 balls maybe 5 would have been off the fairway but it was also mistakes I made and got rushed and simply forgot rule 1 and that is to line the club up to the ball before gripping and stance. 10/10 driver but its going to thin your wallet purchasing it like any decent driver!
I demoed a Flash here in TX and compared to my Nike I purchased in 2007 I immediately remarked to my buddy how the ball felt like it jumped off the face. The only errant shot I got was after a few shots I really ripped into one just to see how far I could get it. My result off to the right was as expected. My next more tame swings though brought it back under control. I compared it also to my buddy's new M6 and like the Callaway better. I'm scheduling a fitting to confirm sub zero vs just a flash and choose shaft and grip. I'm sold!
So, the Rogue on clearance for $300-400 is a steal compared to $550 for the Flash... Feeling GREAT about my Rogue SZ purchase. Still got fitted, all the options, and spent about 1/2 of what the Flash would cost after taxes. Plus, it already picked me up a ton of yardage and accuracy over my older driver.

I hit it the other day and here are my impressions- 5 HCP-113 MPH avg swing speed: The club face felt solid and a little different than anything I’d ever hit. Off the heel and toe it felt unusually solid. I was averaging 295 (steep swing) with a little under 3,000 rpm. Here’s the thing, it’s not that big of a deal. @@KevinLuWX Exactly. They maxed it out when they put a rule in place that limited the smash factor. No matter what manufacturers claim now, they can't provide "faster ball speed", because they are simply not allowed to. They can try to up club head speed (which is was the whole turbulator craze was about) or try to add forgiveness (which is also what this Flash driver does, I suppose, trying to get the optimal smash factor from a larger portion of the club face).

Hey Rick, loving the reviews lately mate you've been killing it! I remember watching your video about the Ben Hogan irons and how it could potentially lower prices of clubs. As I live in Australia the prices of clubs are ridiculously high, for example: the only golf shop in my town currently has the new Epic Flash driver for $800!!! And a Taylormade M3 driver that I have had my eye on for quite some time is still $556. As a younger player, this makes accessing the best equipment extremely expensive, especially for a custom fit. I hope in the near future, manufacturers can find a way to reduce the prices to make their products more accessible. Cheers Rick :)

Rick love your reviews compared to several others I have seen today for this club. Keep giving us the numbers as it makes it easier to really compare companies clubs against the last model and other companies. One negative, the atmospheric music isn’t really needed !!
Great review, really informative and fun to watch. Thanks Rick your reviews really help create a better understanding of the products available in the marketplace.
Another top review, by far the best reviewer on RUclips - so much so, I reckon they’re giving you the hotter, faster clubs that come off the press every so often🤔
Great review again Rick!! Totally agree with you on all points especially the name and colours, they could have just as well called it "Flash" and made it red. Gonna be confusing for a few who come into golf shops and see these two close to each other and wonder why the one is half price......that distance and forgiveness though is a big win but they both come after the fact, visuals and sounds come first.
It’s funny it may be just be because I’m an Aussie and green and gold are our national colours but the epic flash looks awesome to me, like it was made just for the land down under.😂
Don't know if it has already been pointed out but at 3:44, if you look at the distance sliders the average data is measured in Yards however, the Flash data is measured in MPH... In case you where using this format in future videos (which you should, looks good)
Rick, Another great review. Now that PXG is offering their Gen 2 woods I would like to see how they measure up with Taylormade and Callaway. I’m looking for a new driver this year and will be testing all manufactures but PXG is the one that intrigues me the most as I play all PXG but have never played the driver simply on the basis of Price tag of over $1200 CAD and performance doesn’t measure to the other brands. PLEASE DO A PXG REVIEW
Good morning keep up the great work 👌🏽 Coming from San Francisco California just started golfing less then 2 years ago your videos help me a lot on irons I may want to buy if I ever have enough money
Had on Rick, I've watched loads of your reviews over the last few years ..... And you failed to mention the dispersion (or the lack thereof) never seen you hit so straight! 😉
I’ve never minded the name and colour scheme of my Epic SZ and the performance was outstanding. I’m not convinced the Flash will be a big enough jump in performance to justify a switch given the prices of drivers.
I am so happy they brought that green back! The Mermaid Teal with the rouge got old quick. I love that they brought that money color back and all the performance with it. (Time for an upgrade)
So your key gripes are more personal preference related than performance it seems. I actually loved the sound to be honest, more so than the Taylor Made drivers you tested a few days ago. Then again, listening on headphone is a lot different than in person. Either way, great review as always, Rick! Keep up the good work
Much better than screws in the face.. also still rocking the epic sz still and with green being a favorite color I dont mind it at all. Matches my grey black n green Callaway bag just fine.. would be hard to switch tho, unless finding a good head only deal
damn Rick, M5+M6-now this within 24 hours! wasn't even expecting either until spring, I don't like the name or colours, its like some kind of household kitchen cleaner, but if those numbers are true for people across the board, I might have to buy this. My g400 ls tec keeps losing its weight, and I need something with less spin, PLEASE PLEASE, do comparison of this vs some existing big name drivers in a long distance comp, especially the g400 lstec.
Great review as always Rick. If I am not going to see a +10 yard gain, I'm not spending $500.00 + on a driver. Irons and wedges is where the scoring takes place.
Awesome review as always...And we all love to get excited about the new shiny gear...but the marginal performance gains from this one (or the M5/6) that pros like Rick see not going to be replicated by the average punter out there, who should keep his 500 quid in his back pocket...go and buy a 1-2 year old Cobra f7, or Ping g400...awesome drivers, now with great price tags...and with the right shaft will perform just as well as the new stuff
I love the sound and feel of the rogue and the epic. As much as I love the sound, I wonder if the computer was forced to keep the jailbreak tech during its calculations... (ha! Just listened to the rest of the vlog; I love that high pitch sound)
Rick, I love your videos. Didn't care for this one. As an Epic sub zero owner, I want to see an Epic vs Epic Flash head to head. Please. You are my source for deciding if I want to spring for the newest club.
Great video Rick! I will definitely be testing the Flash sub zero against the rogue version at the next Callaway demo night and will then decide which one I will go with.
Rick I love the videos! Have you heard anything about a new version of the Wilson tour fg irons? Very interested if there’s any news on them. Possibly a v7?
Oh my! I know this one! I'm a huge Wilson fan, so I'm always keeping tabs on what's new with them. I was shopping for some new irons to replace my 100s and asked a sales director about this and they said no plans to replace the Vs this season, but... The Proto-Blades should make a retail appearance this year at some point under the FG branding. That would leave the door open for the V series to change over next year. They extended the run of the V6s by offering the RAW finish which revitalized them a bit. I'll keep you posted if I hear anything else if you message me on Twitter at @waazzupppp...
Ron Lunsford Awesome. Thanks so much! I just got a set of the callaway cf16 Apex and was looking for something with more of a player shape and I hit the Fg v6 and I loved the feel of them. Just tested this club. Numbers came out great but those colours.. 🥴 you have to love everything about it for that price
Thanks for the review mate.
A few things that hold me back from buying a Callaway driver. Sound, looks and the price tag. Sound and looks especially!
Welp, just cracked the face of my Rogue Driver at the range yesterday i so headed on over to Callaway Pre-Owned and bought this puppy. I play the 17' Epic Irons so this will be a good fit.
Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme, look out wallet, it's driver time! 🇯🇲🇯🇲

Another great review, Rick! Agree with the name and cosmetics. I don't think anything will be replacing my g400 lst this year
Love your vids Rick new to golf (started last summer) and you have made it a lot more fun for me and entertained me
Great stuff👍
Another top review, by far the best reviewer on RUclips - so much so, I reckon they’re giving you the hotter, faster clubs that come off the press every so often🤔
Thanks Dan! Great to hear you enjoy my content!
In case you where using this format in future videos (which you should, looks good)
Those are some handsome drivers and I actually like the sound! The green color to me looked just fine!
I love the reviews, I find them very helpful. Keep up the great work
Rick you are the gold standard in which all clubs are tested. Well done.
Would you recommend either driver for a mid to high handicap golfer? Or does one benefit the mid to high handicapper more?
Good morning keep up the great work 👌🏽
Coming from San Francisco California just started golfing less then 2 years ago your videos help me a lot on irons I may want to buy if I ever have enough money
Had on Rick, I've watched loads of your reviews over the last few years ..... And you failed to mention the dispersion (or the lack thereof) never seen you hit so straight! 😉
Looks great in all black! Customizable options are available February 1st per the Callaway website.
First time commenting Rick, just a note your distances, you are putting for example in 3:50 293mph in carry distance. Great review as always through
Green Bay packer fans will love the color. Good Review thanks Rick
So your key gripes are more personal preference related than performance it seems. I actually loved the sound to be honest, more so than the Taylor Made drivers you tested a few days ago. Then again, listening on headphone is a lot different than in person. Either way, great review as always, Rick! Keep up the good work
Fantastic review again rick! Don’t like the colours but numbers look great can’t wait for a try myself
Thanks Rick. Looking at a new set of clubs inc. Flash driver and 3 wd. Great review.
Great review!! Might look into one of these for the summer!
Much better than screws in the face.. also still rocking the epic sz still and with green being a favorite color I dont mind it at all. Matches my grey black n green Callaway bag just fine.. would be hard to switch tho, unless finding a good head only deal
Great job, Rick. Your reviews are excellent. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Ernie
I just bought the EPIC!!
Just got this one with a tensei white ck pro TX shaft, absolutely love it🤩
Great video as always Rick Happy New Year👍never owned a Calloway driver not sure about this one either😀
Thanks Mark! Happy new year to you too!
Great reviews, great work. By far my favorite RUclips channel.
Thanks so much 👍👍
Awesome! Once this hit the retail, I’ll buy the Rogue Sub Zero on discount! I have been sitting on my fitting specs for about 8 months! 😉
Thanks for another great review Rick.
damn Rick, M5+M6-now this within 24 hours!
wasn't even expecting either until spring, I don't like the name or colours, its like some kind of household kitchen cleaner, but if those numbers are true for people across the board, I might have to buy this.
I'll be testing this with my rogue tomorrow. Numbers should be interesting.
I love the sound and color.
Great review again Rick. I personally don't much like Callaway clubs, but I think these two drivers look far better that the TM'S . What's next Rick?
Love the color. But I already bought a Rogue last season. When this beauty comes down in price then I'm will definitely consider to buy it.
Rick, I love your videos. Didn't care for this one. As an Epic sub zero owner, I want to see an Epic vs Epic Flash head to head. Please. You are my source for deciding if I want to spring for the newest club.
I love how they used a super computer to design the best club …and then change it the following year .. did they upgrade windows ?
Have an m4 driver and still no brand has caught my eye that much to change. I always loved the rogue and might change to that or the ts3
I LIKED EPIC SUB SZ MORE THAN ROGUE SZ BUT THIS ONE LOOKS A LITTLE BETTER. Excited to try it...
Only problem is that I’m a lefty 😕 so I can’t get the raw finish. Might have to try and pick up a set of the regular v6 soon!
