    From all the reviews that I have watched over the last few weeks of the newly released drivers, it is pretty clear that the stand out performer is the Cobra F9 and when correctly fit it is a BEAST (check out the Cobra fitting on TXG's channel)!. Also being at a Price point that is £150 lower than the TM and Callaway offerings IMO it is a no brainer which driver I would choose if I was looking to replace my current Driver.

    • @GolfMonthly
      @GolfMonthly  5 лет назад +1

      Agreed - the ball speed with the Cobra driver is impossible to ignore. I might try and do another video on that one later this year because I think there is more performance to be gained

    • @banditbaker1675
      @banditbaker1675 5 лет назад +3

      Thanks, Neil that is a great idea. it will be interesting to see if you can replicate the performance leap that TXG achieved for Matt Bois by optimising the spin and launch conditions. Although how he achieves a Ball speed of 180mph, a carry of 340 and total yardage of 360 when injured is beyond my understanding!

      Agree, but what shaft should you pick to keep the spin numbers low? I got epic SZ with the even flow shaft now and it pulls out some ridicoulus lenghts.. but F9 looks to be even faster, but i need low spin numbers since i usally is launching my drives high! Launching high with lots of spin killes the flight 😂

      Bandit Baker no question. I got custom fit for the F9 with Accra 365 M4 yellow shaft. Same day/same shaft I got 3 mph more ball speed compared to TS3 and Epic Flash SubZero! Seeing is believing! Got the 3-4 and 5-6 fairway metals and 3 & 4 F9 hybrids also all with Accra M4 shafts

      Dougie Montana that TXG video is sick. Matt Blois spins it super low. He said a epic sub zero is too low in spin for him. So F9 spins a bit higher in comparison. Although I guess with the right shaft and setting it should be the longest with that much ball speed.

      I agree with you. These 3 are my favorite so far. I've played all 3 with the same shaft Atmos Black 7x. Out of all of them the F9 beat the other 2 out. Pure speed off the face. The M5 M6 for some reason came in last for me. I know the some people say the same shaft is not always right for different heads but I feel it is for my swing. I haven't played the Callaway models because no matter what I can not dial the callaway's down on spin. I hope this helps some people out.

  • @ScottDreyfus
    @ScottDreyfus 5 лет назад

    Cobra f9 has been in the bag almost all year. I cracked my m5 in April. The cobra was much easier to turn over. High face strikes are really low spin. I was the fastest head I hit in Orlando. I'm usually 165 to 168 and with f9 I was 171 to 174. Much like you though I didn't see much of anything in the way of distance but it is extremely forgiving and workable.

  • @adriandutton2051
    @adriandutton2051 5 лет назад +5

    Nice to get a side by side comparison like this. I would strongly suspect that GC Quad was misreading clubhead speed for the M5. That number sticks out like a sore thumb. Otherwise, the message is that all drivers from the main manufacturers are excellent and it's all a question of finding the a clubhead and shaft combination that looks and feels right for the individual. With so many low spin models out there which are optimised for pros and RUclipsrs on launch monitors it could all go very wrong. An 18 hcp player hitting at 90mph ending up with a driver they spin at 1500 would be a recipe for short and wild.

    Thanks for the reviews, but honesly you can’t compare them with stiffer shafts on some. The stiffer shaft will slow the club head speed. Based purely on the numbers the ping410 with a 65 shaft had the best numbers. Club head speed should have been highest on the titliest with a 60g, but the ping may have better aero design.

  • @benross422
    @benross422 5 лет назад +1

    Great review but the difference in shafts and not matching EI profiles has a significant impact on spin rates and launch. With ball speed, club head speed, smash factor, being the same, this confirms what we already know. With the COR limit and CT limit, good strikes on every driver are the same. This test would be better using robots doing controlled mishits all over the face and the same AoA, using the same swing weights and shafts.

    • @Ryan-fx7jx
      @Ryan-fx7jx 5 лет назад

      Except 'controlled mishits' doesn't actually do anything to show anything useful. Problem is that CG is dynamic depending on where it's struck on the face and how the club is delivered. Physics

    • @benross422
      @benross422 5 лет назад

      @@Ryan-fx7jx yeah and with a robot you consistently deliver all across the face with different AoA to measure that. As long as you have the same like angle and swing plane you can consistently each mishits with each club. Still physics but thanks

    • @Ryan-fx7jx
      @Ryan-fx7jx 5 лет назад

      @@benross422 The thing is, when you deliver x AoA, y face to path, and z path angle, the so called 'sweet spot' moves because the effective CoG is moved due to gear effect and head design. So hitting all across the face for a given set of data inputs is useless because you're going to get an entirely different set of results with a change in any one delivery data point. I'm not the best at explaining it, there's a Mark Crossfield video that went up that shows what I'm talking about.
      Regardless, if you start throwing multiple clubs into robots to swing, you're still going to get distances within 5 yards of each other...

    This test means nothing if you do not use the same shaft on each club. The shaft can skew the results on the clubs. Cobra probably would have came out on top if you had the right setting and shaft on the club.

    • @Ryan-fx7jx
      @Ryan-fx7jx 5 лет назад

      Please, they're pretty much the same thing +-5 yards. Shafts perform differently in different heads + they make no where as much of a difference as people make them out to have, more a calibration tool than anything. The best way to compare is to have them all fit well then hit them, you can't have them all in the same shaft and settings amd expect a fair comparison.

    • @GolfMonthly
      @GolfMonthly  5 лет назад

      Deon Thompson - yes, as Ryan has said, the manufacturers pick their stock shaft offering based on the performance of the head. That's why there were differences in what we used

    • @kboy19831983
      @kboy19831983 5 лет назад

      Not true Deon Thompson. If that’s the case then each club should also have exactly the same swingweight etc etc. The key to a fair comparison would be to use clubs that have been custom fit correctly for the user. Doing that would ensure the user is getting the very best out of each club.

    Maybe it is just me, but when I watch all of these videos with British reviewer they seem to spend what I would consider an unnecessary amount of time on how the club looks. Is the looks of the club really that important to people? I don't care what it looks like as long as I hit it well.

    • @GolfMonthly
      @GolfMonthly  5 лет назад

      Fair point @JoeyCameron - however, I would say that sound and looks are the two areas that are subjective and yet are really what make you feel comfortable and confident at address. Ultimately, it's all down to the individual but I would say that looks (and feel) are both important even if they aren't quantifiable.

    Cobra all day long. I can't take the TS3 sound at impact. Granted Neil made a disclaimer on low face strikes, but I would have preferred if Neil corrected his mis-strikes and gave us the numbers with strikes equivalent to the other drivers. That's not fair because mis-hits are not the clubs fault. Telling us how the numbers were on mishits is the equivalent of saying "I have to tell you I hit a cracked ball with he Cobra but a new ball with the other drivers in this test."

    • @GolfMonthly
      @GolfMonthly  5 лет назад

      Station 2Station - fair comments. Mis-hits create a problem in this test. I did however make the point about removing bigger mis hits and with the Cobra driver, they weren't big enough to take out. The only way round it would be to get a robot to do the testing... Having said all that, I wouldn't argue against anyone who wants to get that Cobra driver - it is excellent
