This is why golfers aren't improving. They have been convinced that "Performance" is based solely on distance and spin. Distance should be a DISTANT second to dispersion when shopping for a new driver. 8 yards shorter in the fairway vs 8 yards longer in the trees is going to make more birdies every day.
TXchadTX I couldn’t agree more, my Mavrik is no longer than my Flash 3D, but more forgiving which led to much tighter dispersion. My longest drives are no longer but my average is up a good bit because front to back dispersion is very tight.
Drivers are not for your average golfer... your average golfer would probably lose more than 5 strokes by hitting a long iron off tee and only playing irons.
This is the first review I’ve seen where the Cobra SpeedZone performed the worst. I guess this shows that it’s worth getting fit for your specific preferences.

Great review as always. So compared to last years driver review and MI many of these drivers have lost total carry distance. Think I will stick with my M5 unless there really is another improvement here with these drivers (that I have missed) and not just cosmetic looks.
The Ping 410 LST would have been a fairer comparison to the other drivers selected; however, thanks for putting this content together- it’s fun to watch.

Tested all of these last weekend, for me and my swing the Mavrik(standard, not SZ) was by far the best. Consistent distances and easy to control. The SIM was the worst, don’t like the thick top line creating the look of a shallow face. The cobra was solid, had to use the SZ as I could not spin the regular one enough, ball speed was down a touch though, probably due to strike. Content in my decision, looking forward to the arrival of my Mavrik.
Tried all these today in a fitting, without the Ping and plus the Epic Flash Sub Zero. Performance wise the Maverick and epic Flash Sub zero were the best and I opted for Epic Flash, based on looks. Cobra was also good and great vfm. On looks alone, I'd choose the Sim

I play with scratch and low single figure handicap golfers and exactly NOBODY has been able to hit the SIM due to the annoyingly low spin. Guys with clubhead speed of 110-118 are seeing 1600 spin.
