Just played with 2 men in their 80’s. Both beat me by 10 strokes. They consistently hit the ball right down the middle for 150 to 175. They had a great short game. I was shocked. I’ve been playing 52 years. I was Goliath off the tee box but they slayed me to pieces after that. It was embarrassing. I hope i never see them again.

Thank you Danny. I am 70 and have been golfing for about 30 years. In all that time I do not remember anyone that simplifies the game as well as you do... all the while without oversimplifying it. The things you suggest work. Work tomorrow as well as today. Your suggestions are more than just quick fixes. Your suggestions have staying power for they are more than just tips. They are by their nature holistic. Very well thought out. Maybe we will see you on a Senior Tour someday. Good work young man, good work.

After 15 yrs away from the game and then playing a couple of rounds that made me remember why I stopped playing I found this drill. It has helped me so much. I find your vidoes really easy to watch and understand. Thankyou so much for sharing your knowledge.

Danny about 10 years ago I had been playing golf for about 12 years with a consistent slice and one day I noticed that at the very beginning (about the first inch) of my take away the club head was slightly drifting away from my body. I then started concentrating taking the club head straight back away from the ball and have been hitting the ball dead straight ever since. So I personally found the take away to be the single most important game improvement to my game.

Many thanks for all the time and effort you put into trying to help us golfers it's very much appreciated.

I can’t say enough about how much this video has helped my golf swing and literally connected the dots of so many other aspects of my horrible over the top swing! I have been struggling with my take away forever. I was always convinced it was the root cause of my over the top swing but just could never figure out what the correct take away and backswing should be like. . I have had several teaching pros tell me my take away needed to be corrected and provided various drills and feels but nothing had changed. This video is so simple to understand and really illustrated to me how to execute a proper take away and backswing. What I also discovered in doing the take away and backswing drill correctly was my limited physical capability to make a full turn. Before i was just turning my shoulders thinking i was doing it correctly and taking club inside every time. Thanks for making something that is overcomplicated so simple to understand and execute!

Been playing for a few summers and have always rotated my forearms/wrists as soon as I started the takeaway. My buddy who is an excellent golfer and good teacher was desperately trying to teach me to stop doing that the last few weeks (lol) but I was not getting it for some reason. This video finally made it click for me and my first round out, far fewer chunks and inconsistent, terrible shots. Going to spend a good amount of time watching other videos and hopefully gleaning some info to correct other faults in my swing. Cheers.

I watched this video this afternoon, absorbed as much as I could, went to the range straight after (I've just got back) - instant improvement!
The best part was once I'd practised the hand set up in the first position a few times, as long as I made sure I was setting up properly before each stroke, I didn't have to worry about it. It felt so good not thinking too much about my back swing, and I could slow it right down too. Now, I'm not saying it's the same for everyone - I've not played that much. But it makes such a difference when you start to feel like you've got good advice to work with, a groovable swing starting and you're making decent and more consistent contact with much less effort.
    A real confidence boost. Thanks!

This game is so frustrating Danny for all us armatures out here, just when you think you have mastered it, your next game is like living a nightmare ! Today after looking at your video last night I started off really well for the first four holes, then started to slice the ball a bit which I have not done for many a year, only to find that my left hand placement on the grip of the club had moved ever so slightly!
By the 14 th I was back hitting the ball with a slight fade and scored well! The placement of the left thumb has got me thinking after today's game, so maybe you could elaborate this further to other golfers out here in how important the left hand grip is!
Thanks Danny - you really are helping us guy's out here! Your smiling videos and tuition are a joy to watch!

Mahalo Braddha Dan. As I used to tell my (now 10 years old daughter) easy-peesy-chicken-squeezie. Seriously though, and I think I speak for a lot of guys my age (53) and just now learning the game. We've forgotten what we learned when we we played little league in the 1970s. Good hitting and pitching was the result of basic muscle movement -- muscle memory. I mean anyone can pick up a bat and swing it, but great hitters -- like great golfers -- are very efficient in their movements. We all started not trying to hit home runs or throw 90 mph. My coaches wanted easy contact, open the hips, the bat would slightly lag and come around with power. Same as pitching -- throw strikes -- and use your body as one big lever. You can do neither if your body does not move in motion like golf. Basics basics basics. I'd rather strike the ball well, consistently now and increase power as my swing become more efficient than kill the ball 10% of the time and go 300 yards like a lot of these young guys. Cheers.

    Hi Danny,
I used to set up to the ball and place the club. Then I would check if my hands are okay, then my feet, waggle the club, check the target again, look down at my hands, another look at the target, make sure my hands weren’t too tight, then swing. That would take about thirty seconds. Now what I do is....ball in correct position, don’t ground the club, look at target and say, ‘down (meaning ‘ground’) and hit’ - from the time I ‘ground’ the club and say ‘down and hit’ takes about four/five seconds - no time to get any nonsense in my head and WHAT a difference it has made to my ball striking, unbelievable! By using this method I am tension free completely - its like getting out of a self imposed ‘jail’ - love your videos.

The entire lead arm is a lever and the fulcrum is in the lead shoulder. The base of the lever is the lead foot. The force is between the fulcrum and the load ( like a broom ). The club itself is a secondary lever. The plane is three dimensional and so too is the takeaway. It travels back up and in simultaneously. The so-called A swing has a flaw and it’s compensation built in ( shallowing through forearm twist as opposed to axis tilt. You have constructed another excellent video. Cheers

Thanks for the videos. I started with your driver takeaway and the right hand down focus makes sense to me and I plan to see if it is something that works for me. When I came to this video I expected some reinforcement of that technique but you said nothing about it. Not sure why. Anyway, the other thing I noticed in this was your left wrist posture where it seem to be more concave than today's players. But when I look at your club head position it doesn't look open so maybe your wrist is flatter than it appears. I'm 70 years old and striking my irons better than I ever have simply because I learned how to keep the clubface more closed and strike it cleanly. It was a tip from a former PGA pro to think 'watch down' and it completely changed my iron play. I think it is an instinctive move to concave your wrist because it's a more powerful position but you don't realize it opens the clubface. Also people tend to thing of the clubhead moving like a kitchen door where it makes a 180 arc through the swing. Start closed and stay closed produces more effortless power.
Now I have to figure out how to master the longer clubs like fairway woods.
I'm looking forward to reviewing all of your videos as I like your way of explaining things.

I played a lot in the 90s. Stopped around 2007. Started playing again in 2020. Now I’m addicted all over. I was around a 10-11 Hdcp back then and just took a lesson from a pro to fix a few new issues. I’m 48 now and can’t hit 300 yards anymore but it was more than just that. It didn’t feel right. He told me a take away trick very much like this (and tempo of course being the SINGLE MOST important thing - slow down!). This has changed my swing back to a powerful and accurate one. Great video.

Great video. I see so many teachers who say the toe of the club should be pointed straight up when the club reaches horizontal and that is absolute death in my golf swing. I have a strong grip, so the clubface needs to match my spine angle when viewed DTL or even be slightly closed to that. Nice to see that reflected here. It is amazing how big an effect something seemingly so little can have, but hey that's golf. The drills in this video should really help & I'm going to put them into my practice ASAP.
