    I really really really like this driver drill guys.....This was the main thing I did for YEARS that make driving the best part of the game! Maybe I should have done some more chipping and putting back then but oh well :)

      I am a 2 handicap. Driver has always been my inconsistency. Distance has never been an issue but when I get out of sync I have no idea where it is going. I have worked with some great instructors over the years. I understand the swing well. But this was the best video, simplified instruction & swing thoughts that I have ever seen or heard for a driver!!

I started golf 4 years ago and I have never find a cure to my slice. I think now I have understand how to swing it. Thank you Eric, really appreciate it. Fantastic drill, thanks Eric. There are plenty of good coaches on youtube but you're one of the few great ones.

    Just watched this video for the first time the other day, played golf yesterday and tried to put this into action. It was shocking how good, how consistent I was immediately driving the ball! I had ZERO range time to practice beforehand. Great results were instantaneous! I’ve watched tons of driver videos over the years and none of them, NOT ONE, can beat the effectiveness of this one! Can’t thank you enough! Amazing results!

    Alex. Congratulations. You are now 2 for 2.
    I did the right foot back yesterday. Started to stripe my irons so solid and extremely straight. Same results today.
    I put this video into my range practice today. The driver swing immediately improved dramatically. Gained 20+ yards. Solid contact. The few i hit poorly were due to NOT keeping right shoulder down and not moving forward.
    Thus, you are 2 for 2. Thank you so much

    I watched this video for about a week. Since i work from home most days i was in my garage doing this drill. Finally was able to get to the range. Warmed up first with some wedge shots, still did the drill worked well, then went to my normal 6 iron, worked just as good, was hitting straight irons shots. Finally got to the driver. Follow all three steps, Left arm, both arms, total body, head back. Setup to hit my driver, straight down the middle. Hit it a few more times just to be sure worked very well. Thanks for the video👍🏾👍🏾

    last week I committed to this drill / sequence. I'm a 12 HC and just getting going for this season. I have to say my drives have never been better or more consistent. My irons are already pretty decent, but my driver was very inconsistent. Some good days - mostly bad - always chasing a new change. Some days I could drive it 260 but most days 200-220 with an annoying OTT side spin. This sequence of drills - the combination of rolling the arms to release / close the face and the calmness and tempo it's creates for me is nothing short of a miracle. The worst miss now - after doing this at the range 4 times - is either a draw hook or a pretty minor fade. At half my shots are high straight flights with 5-10 yard draws and 250 yards. I'm not even swinging hard - yet. Like 93-95 mph. So I know there is more there to go after. But I'm going to be patient and get this ingrained on the course. One thing I have noticed though is that a good number of my shots that are not straight can be pulls. They are long because I'm closing the face. I can correct by closing my stance more but that may not translate to playing on the course....any thoughts there? Ball position adjustment maybe - or weaker grip? thanks for this great lesson. It made me excited about driver.

    As many other golfers I’ve struggled with the Driver. After a period away from golf, I have REALLY been on the range the last year or so. The Driver was at best, as good as it ever were before - but I didn’t have the feel of a good stroke.
    I saw this video once - and went for the range to test it.

    This is awesome and explains the launch angle. I've been at 10-11 degrees with 225-230 carry. With this drill my numbers are 13 degrees launch angle with 248 carry. What a difference and it also fix my shoulder to stay down and having my head stay back. Getting rid of the bad picture is tough to do (lol) though. I also applied this to my irons and increase my the yardage. Lead arm rotation allows for a sport feel versus a technical feel.

    This explanation is very clear. I also put the alignment stick just 4" or so over the top of the ball. So I have to come in low to avoid hitting it. However, since I am left hand dominant I really have to "push" with my right hand to avoid pulling or hooking. This has been my struggle for years. (Someday I hope to find an instructor who is left handed but plays right. The ones who aren't don't understand how this left/right conflict holds us back).

I have to say Eric this three stage drill had me hitting awesome drives today at least 20 to 30 yards further than normal and straight. We’ll see, if it lasts longer than 24 hours. I'm glad that I just came across this video. In the last two years I've been hitting my driver longer than I ever have. Unfortunately with that has come a lot of misses. Basically topping the ball. I'm a high handicapper at 28. My short game is good. It's getting off the tee box consistently. My longest drives have been around 275, but probably average 230-240 yards. I don't slice, I hit draws, sometimes straight, and the dreaded hook. I was told I'm moving my head around too much during my swing. I'll be heading to the range tomorrow and using some of your advice in this video. It's been embarrassing duffing my driver 20 yards.

    Thanks Eric! This was great! I was still fading it though so I moved my ball position up to my left foot and was able to hit it more solid with a little draw. This is maybe because it’s taking me a bit longer for the driver’s toe to rotate past the heel. I also tried Rahm’s old thing of having about 6 inches of space between the driver face and teed up ball at setup. This promoted a low take away along the ground 😅

    Hey Eric. Ever thought of making a companion video that addresses misses we might see when doing this drill and how to fix them? This drill is awesome and I'm seeing some really great high draws and hoping to ingrain the move. On the way my misses are a low/mid ball-flight straight ball that hooks, and a high, far and straight push anywhere from 15 - 25 yards right of target. Tks for the great drill!!!!

    Thank you! I think you just highlighted my problem. I’ve been moving my head during the driver swing. My miss is hitting too low on the face. My drives vary from 200 to 240, due to the inconsistency of strike. Direction is usually good (straight or draw).

      You got it! Yes that sounds right....definitely something to look at to help hit higher/farther if you already got the straight part!!

      Hey! Yep I see that for sure....I would need to see your swing to say for sure (send swings to www.cogornogolf.com so we can see and help)
      But without seeing and educated guessing I would usually see that from
      1. Weight hanging back too much on back side in downswing
      2. Club path too far off plane (usually under) but could be both

    This is crazy and I’ll explain why. I’m new to golf, less than 8 months playing. I started out hitting the ball about 230-240 yards carry on good shots. Then I started to shank the ball bad. 3 weeks ago on the tee box I would take practice swings with just lead arm holding the club doing the exact thing your talking about. I was really just looking for a good area to setup on and put my tee in the ground. Looking for flat sections for my feet. Long story short once I started doing the 3 practice swings with my left hand and really focusing on closing the clubface on those swings, I started crushing the ball. It helped me hit my first and longest drive ever of 315 yards!!! Now I’m consistently driving the ball 270 yards. Mind you I’m still scoring in mid to low 90’s with a best of 88 😁😁. I see 75’s in my near future but my goal is to score a 79 or better before late August which will be my first year of playing golf.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks! Following the arc left!
      Hands are traveling up and in from about the time they reach the trail thigh through impact.....but from hands hip high to impact the HANDS are going UP AND LEFT.....WHILE....the club is going DOWN and RIGHT
      As soon as impact hits the club head is working back up and in

    Learn from you all the time Eric, appreciate your knowledge and how you teach it. Would be nice to hear in more detail how one can get rid of a strong hook - personally a slice might be preferred over a hook (not a draw) as that has a uncontrollable mind of it's own making tee shots a scary part of the game. Happy Easter all.

      Yeah to get rid of hooks.....opposite of this :)
      1. Find out why face closed to path and lessen
      2. Find out why path too far in to out an lessen
      You may feel club working more out to in....or left past impact while PREVENTING the face from over closing
      Check this one for hook fix portion:

    Follow-up - I just tried this in a PGA Tour Superstore Trackman Bay that I rented for 1 hour. Before today's experiment, I didn't ever hit my Driver. Whenever I tried, I hit thin, weak, pull-hooks that didn't get airborn and went maybe 60-80 yards. After a little practice, I was able to hit right to left draws that started right of my target line. I had a 19y-25y curve L. My average carry was 169 and my total distance "jumped" to a range between 210- 245. I think I was able to land half of the drives in the fairway and the other half were split between 2 of the aforementioned weak pulls and the rest of the half were dead straight pushes into the right rough. With a little more practice, I'll be hitting the fairways 7/10 times. I'm 61 years old and don't hit the ball far, so, being able to hit Driver or Fairway Wood off the Par 4 and 5 tees is going to be inportant to bring my WHS Handicap Index down.
    Thanks Eric!!!

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  6 месяцев назад

      Yes----can be great with neutral, weak or strong grip....really depends. Could be several reasons why you hit low left....I wish I could give you a simple "yes" or "no" but that would be foolish without me seeing your swing on video. I would go find a great coach to work with in person or send videos in to www.cogornogolf.com so we can help there! Once we see your swing will be easy to say what grip to have and what else is going on to cause that miss/how to fix!
