    9:40: THIS. This is what has been plaguing me with both my driver and my fairway woods. I can get the takeaway started, but there's always a point where I don't know what to do next. When should I start hinging? When should I start tucking my trail elbow? I've been doing both way too soon, and it's been wrecking my downswing. It was so nice to see this broken down. I've got a much better understanding of sequencing now. Thank you so much!

    Eric this is a tremendous addition to the to the prior video, which Ihave been working during my practice sessions. So, thank you so much! if I my be so bold as to suggest that the logical progression of these videos is to take it to the irons, say 5 through 9!

    Great video! I find the most success with my driver when I exaggerate reaching the club head as far away as I can in the takeaway. Also, the 90 degree shoulder rotation and 45 degree lower body/hip rotation has helped me astronomically. Appreciate all you do!

    Eric. 3 of your videos have transformed my game. Left arm release drill, same drill for irons ... and now this one. Distance and consistency have been amazing. 1/2 to 1 club on irons and 25 - 30 yards with driver. My balance and correct follow thru is a bonus.
    There are many online golf gurus, but their videos are band-aids. It is impossible to fix the result without correcting the cause. Your videos are comprehensive, discussing causes and subsequent results.
    My misses are slight pulls to the left. Maybe trail shoulder needs to be slightly lower, or trail hand releasing to soon, or slow to rotate in downswing.
    The miss left is 5 yds on mid irons and 10 yds with driver. Acceptable but correctable with some more range time.
    I'm 72 years old, knee replacement, separated shoulder. Your videos have resulted in 160 yd 7I, 245 carry, 260+ with driver.
    Thanks, I'm glad I found you online.

    Thanks Eric, if I can say when I practiced on getting my shoulder plane correct, it corrected so many other aspects to the golf swing, I couldn't believe my swing thoughts for me were that simple, do we need other things correct for a proper swing, of course, but for me the correct shoulder plane, is so simple to understand, it's repeatable, and it help to get my side bends correct also,its amazing what 1 proper action can do for a golf swing, great breakdown and great examples used so it's easy to understand.

    So, I went out on Saturday to play golf and tried this drill and swing thought during the round. Hit my driver much better than usual. Sometimes left (mostly), sometimes right and once in a while straight down the middle. Got a few comments from my playing partners how much better I was driving it. The combination thought of club head far away and lead shoulder down seemed to be especially effective.
    Thanks for the tip, hope I can keep remembering it and adding to it.

    Hi Eric - Great video as usual 👍 Hopeless at the mo’ with Driver. Had lesson last week here in London, was told need to be much taller from spine and Torso which obviously brings me nearer to the ball. Feels weird, because I’ve obviously been standing too far away ! Anyway, did start hitting the ball a lot better. Will build in your training with what my instructor has told me next time over range. Here’s to 320 yards carry -ok, maybe knock 100 yards off that ! 🤣 All the best, Ken.

    Hi Eric, Great video! Thank you. Compliments the previous driver video beautifully.
    Can you give me a tip or two to stop the upper body lurching forward on the through swing. My back swing is ok but on the downswing throwing the club through the right side of my upper body lurches forward. Help!

    • @honkerh8r564
      @honkerh8r564 27 дней назад +1

      Yes!!!!! I have a hard time with charging the ball when I hit driver. I have been almost feeling like I lean back when I hit driver lately. I know backing up off the ball is a cardinal sin, but I haven't lost any distance. In fact, I've gained it. So the feeling like I'm backing off the ball at impact is probably not reality. I'm probably just not sliding my upper body forward to smother hook the ball like I usual. I would also like to see some tips about properly staying behind the ball. The feeling like you're chopping a tree is good in concept (you don't lean your upper body past the trunk when you chop a tree), but I just can't seem to visualize that when I actually hit a ball.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  27 дней назад +1

      I would add an object over my left shoulder that I need to keep my head back of and learn to let the arms sling off your body as your head stays back.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  27 дней назад

      Hey James! In terms of club path.....yes.
      Always want to club head arcing to the ball from inside......then hit the ball.....then back inside to left.
      Main difference with the shorter vs longer clubs is the angle of attack its coming in on (think airplane landing). More down with irons, less down/more up with driver

    I did all of these things to try and improve my driver swing and none of it worked, UNTIL I changed my transition. I wasn't ab;e to get any consistency with my drive until I learned to relax at the top and let the club and my arms fall before tried to create speed. I would get to the top and grip it hard and straight up muscle the club through impact. Of course that doesn't work. Nothing was in sync. I instantly doubled my good drives more accuracy and more distance.

    @ 3:25 he's explaining " no shoulder, no width " but if you look at his demonstration when he's showing no shoulder, it's actually because he's not pushing the right hip back at all. When he shows shoulder = width , he's pushing the right hip back like you should. Ofcourse you can't turn to get any width if you leave your hips at address position. Incorrect explanation in my opinion

    • @guitar1950
      @guitar1950 28 дней назад

      isn't it about combining the shoulder move and the hip move? I think Eric would say that is the movement needed.

    • @honkerh8r564
      @honkerh8r564 27 дней назад

      He may be just having you focus on the shoulder in this lesson and assuming that you are also going to pivot your hips or push the right hip back. I kind of do the same move where I start the downswing with my right shoulder, and the hips just go with it. I do this because I'm very right side dominant, and I'll tend to roll the club inside and get stuck if I pull back with my right side rather than push back with my lead side.
      Edit: I mean that I start my backswing by pushing back with my lead shoulder rather than pulling back with my trail side, and my hips just kind of follow. Not starting the downswing with my trail shoulder. I don't know where that came from :)
