this video saved my golf game, cannot stress enough how game changing the “throwing the club” is. i’ve always seen people say hit down on the ball, watched countless videos on compressing the ball. first time i started visualizing throwing the club i started hitting pure iron shots more often than miss hits. thank you for this

Like everything Danny does, its a simple explanation, not filling the head with tens of issues you must address before and during the swing. For me, Danny is the only teaching pro I watch, because of the simple terms he uses and to maxamise effect, he concentrates on just 2 or 3 issues at one time. Keep up the great work Danny.

Danny, you have been kind enough to respond to two of my inquiries, and I want to return your kindness.
I realized (as a 70 y/o beginner) that I wasn’t swinging correctly because I couldn’t balance myself on my left (lead) leg. So I spent over two months every day just standing on that leg.
Then -gradually- I would turn my hips. Then after the two months, I practiced leaning with my hip to the left and shoulders otherwise- all standing on my lead leg.
It’s not a quick fix, but now I’m comfortable making the necessary weight shift. I have “lag”, and my 7 iron has gone from 125 yds to 155 or more. I finish upright and facing well towards the flag.
I’m hoping you can improve this self-made drill, because my problem all along turned out to be balancing on my lead side as a beginner.
God bless you. Your videos helped get me started at a time in life when I hear most golfers ate hanging it up. I’m

I don't normally write but after today's practice round I was left amazed and gob smacked walking away with +3 after 9 hole and I play off 20!
I've never really had trouble with my balance I've always felt that to be good. However, I was also of the same mind that the club went forward, until I discovered this and realised about keeping the butt close to the body as well as discovering throwing the club and 'casting'. I also took your advice from "How to Nail your backswing Takeaway" video and all together today I hit some of the best shots and approaches I have ever hit. From chipping to pitching and even out of sand this all worked and applied.
Thank you so much, your a great teacher.

Danny, great job! I used to golf at least once a week, and practice almost everyday. I was an honest 9-10 handicap. I had arthritis in both hips and my swing changed as both hips got worse. My swing got to the point of being a "rocker" because I lost movement in my hips. I would rock rearward on the back swing, and then forward on the front swing to obtain weight transfer. Well... It got to the point I could no longer play golf. However, I had both hips replaced 1.5 years ago and someone invited me golfing. I found my swing was still a rocking swing. My new hips worked so well...NOTHING in my golf swing felt right, nothing. After trying your drill (5 times) I can clearing see EXACTLY what I have not been doing, and it is the move (uncoiling) that I need to focus my new swing on. This is the most difficult move for anyone one learning golf to master, however, with this drill...it completely makes sense. Thank you for sharing.

I have been struggling with my irons for the last year or so -- always hitting it heavy and behind the ball. This tip from Danny is amazing and spot on. I have been doing this drill for less that a week and it has changed my iron play -- I almost had my second hole in one of the season last week. Once you get use to the feeling of swinging on your front foot (it takes little time) you are on your way. I have hit some incredible irons shots the past few times out. Just keep practicing this just as Danny explains it ... great tip and Danny is the best teacher because he keeps it simple!

I love that dot visual. Used it in my round today and ball striking improved alot. Used to get a fair share of fat shots before. Great stuff. Probably the one golf video that's going to help me more than any other.

Every now and then a golfer will see a tip from a teacher and something will click in his head because the tip made so much sense. This is one of those tips for me. I played my first round today since watching the video and I dropped 15 strokes off my previous round...and it could have been 20 if my chipping had cooperated. My ball striking today was better than it has been in a very long time. I used to be a mid-to-high 80's golfer but lost my mojo some years ago. I've tried everything over the years to fix it and all I did was over complicate my swing. This drill does a great job of reinforcing balance, ball position and tempo...at least that's what I took from it. Thanks Danny! You've made the game fun again.

The one legged drill has been a huge help, but it was the last little bit about throwing the club out that helped me diagnose the terrible error I was making: my grip had migrated to something less than optimal and I was restricting my ability to throw the club out! I love your thesis that the body does highly intelligent things to compensate for errors earlier in the swing, it has been the best algorithmic tool for working on my game that I have ever received!

This is the first video I have watched (& I have watched 100's) that has made complete perfect sense that I can totally relate to & understand. I tested the "throwing the club & letting go" theory today on the range....and viola!! Thank you Danny for such a wonderful, plain english explanation. This is going to change my game like no other. Had a back operation 5 weeks ago only started playing golf again July last year after a 6 year lay off due to a really bad back injury . Took that long to recover enough to play again practiced constantly day after day at the range and the golf club i joined . I used the feet together drill to start with my ball striking started to get really good start the beginning of this playing great considering. But due to alot of back problems during the summer having to take time off to recover . Then start playing again subsequently my game has deserted me just had another 5 weeks off after a procedure to repair nerve damage . Played to today for the first time in 5 weeks had a shocker that bad i nearly walked off and give the game up forever as my iron game was exactly as you described I hit tops or weak hooks ,which is so frustrating as I used to hit a very powerful iron , came home discovered your video on RUclips now i am determined to work hard and use your drill start from the beginning again . So thanks keep up the good work as your videos are easy to understand and follow with great tips on technique . Thank John.

Really enjoyed this. Used it during practice today, already focusing on hitting the ball first. It worked well on full shots but needs practice. Love the hands getting closer to the body. This will be amazing. I found massive gains in strike during chipping & pitching by keeping aligned. Thanks man! I'm 13.2 and I think I might come down 2 shots with these thought processes.

Just came in from the course, after a frustrating day of inconsistent iron shots. My golf buddy was trying to explain how I was making the mistakes explained in this video. I get it now!!! Can’t wait to get on the range, then back on the course to try it again with, hopefully much better iron play. I’ll try this with my hybrids, and driver as well. Love the drill, Danny! I do this drill to warm up before hitting balls now. The bit at the end about the hand path guiding the ball out was gold. I was under the same impression about my hand path. I would have a great shot shape (draw) but I would struggle getting a consistent ball first strike. The small piece of information was huge for me. Thanks Danny!

Hi there. I watched this video at 3am as I don’t sleep well. And I was up at 6.30am to play golf at 7.30. I can drive the ball well but my problem is hitting fat irons. My best score of the season so far was 75. After watching this twice this morning, I put it into practice in my game, probably not the best time to try it, but anyway, what a difference, I finished with a 68, delighted!!! Thank you for this. Wow. Makes so much sense. I'm one of those who gets hooked on 'guiding' the club. Very wrong. I was a pitcher when I played baseball. In the early years I was 'guiding' the pitch often, just to insure the ball went where I wanted it to go when throwing fastballs. Very wrong according to my coach. Just relax and 'throw' the ball making full use of the rest of my body as usual. Just like what Danny says about 'throwing the club' and doing all the other body movement as usual. HUGE difference now with all of my clubs.

Good video! One tip I heard or read somewhere that has helped me tremendously is to imagine the ball as a clock face with 12 pointing/facing the target. Now you want to imagine making club contact with the ball at 7 o'clock. It's absolutely impossible to do if you're 'casting' the club. To hit 7 o'clock you must get your hands and body ahead of the club. Helped me a bunch to imagine this as I swing, hopefully this helps someone else out there. Hit em well folks!

What I love about Danny's coaching methods is tricks in how to feel in order to achieve what he has shown you is the right technique. The aiming of your backside to the target in the backswing revolutionised my feel of the turn and I get way more power. No one else has given that tip to achieve the right swing. This tip looks like it will do the same for me as I think I move too much for irons in my swing and need to feel cored to the centre
