Most Amateurs Do This Sequence WRONG!

    In this video, Adam teaches how the hips should move in the backswing. Most amateur golfers tend to lead the backswing with the hips, leading to an inside takeaway and the arms moving to the top independently. In order to combat that, the golfer should feel the arms and upper body move first while the hips move 10%. From there, the body and arms can travel to the top in unison with the hips.

    Man I would love to get a lesson from Adam. The guy knows his stuff, but it’s hard to pick it up from watching a video if you don’t have someone showing you the correct “feels” in real time.

      @PorzakGolf Hey Adam, I notice you do not flare your left foot out at adress? I've got told by many golf pros to flare my left foot about 20 to 30 degrees. What are your thoughts?

      @@troyberghan6788 Adam says foot flare restricts your turn. A little flare is fine for comfort but don't go crazy with it.

    Until I saw this wonderful video, I doubted that I would ever be a consistent ball striker. I now understand how to sequence the backswing and body rotation. It was like "flipping a switch." I have a newfound understanding on which to work.
    For the first time ever, I parred three holes in a row yesterday. I was thrilled. I did not realize that I was using my arms so much. It is not about upper body strength.
    Your video changed my game! Thank you. Thank you. Love the game of golf!

    I'm too tight in my hips to do this. No way I can turn my upper body and not my hips like that

  • @Jonny4fingers
    @Jonny4fingers 2 месяца назад +1

    The insight about body rotating, then having to pause while the hands lift, is absolute gold and explains why I get OTT unless I force the hands independently back down to the right hip, though by that time the right hip is already turning. What great insight!! Thanks!

    Absolutely love the content. You're basically the only channel I'm watching anymore after starting with 10-15 I used to go to to overwhelm myself. It would be awesome to see you have a few more lessons with some higher handicappers with more severe issues. Maybe you're only showing the better swings of each individual but it seems like all of the lessons you post are with pretty decent golfers looking for refinement and not the broken 20 handicapper like myself. I'm 8 lessons in and arguably worst than before though, so maybe I really am just that bad 🤣

    Coach,
    Fair to say you can feel like you are turning into your lead side to let those hands get a head start if you struggle w the early hip rotation?
    Simpler way to phrase it: feel like my lower body is going towards the target while I hinge the club back. Then once I’m at that stop point you reference, then allow the hands and hips to go together?

    • @lasvegasbreakingnews1752
      @lasvegasbreakingnews1752 3 месяца назад

      Really?! You start your hip turn right away?! Sh$t, no wonder you can't hit the ball. Just a hint, most golfers start with the take away of the club head into their back swing. But hey, if turning your right hip and then whipping around the club head works for you, go for it.

    Great subject great content. I would like to share my thoughts: When I keep my trailing knee in general restricted than extension, I feel I cannot turn enough and arms overtake the last 1/4 of my backswing and my upperbody raises slightly than at setup. My trailing knee does not look good as if it appears not stable. Beyond, I may sway because my trailing hip does not go enough back. So, taking the trailing hip back creates space for more turn. Yes, I do not like going too much back as well what you are referring and try to stay more in front. Your comments are very much appreciated, Adam. Thanks.

    this could be one of your best, IMO. One comment, when the body turn is 10% then 90%, I believe the wrist set at those points is 90% then 10% !.

    10%/90%
    Does that mean at 10% I should feel my left shoulder is done pushing my hands and arms to the right, and that my wrist is completely set with thumbs fully pointing up, and the remaining 90% is my body turn to the top of the backswing?

    Thank you! I always feel like my backswing is a bit too long and as a result I often got steep and swinging to the left especially with my longer clubs causing that weak fade or pull. I never realized that it was the result of my hip rotating to early during the backswing. The feeling I had to accomplish this is by starting my backswing with only my arms until hip height before starting to rotate my hip.

    Very interesting, I early extend very often (esp. with long clubs). I made some slow swings in my living room, and i pretty much start my swing with my hip. Gonna try to keep it a little more silent during the start of the swing.
