    Danny you are a super star! Your online coaching lessons are truly amazing and simply inspirational. I’m 68 years old, had a hip replacement 6 months ago, decided to supplement my physiotherapy by going to the driving range, never touched a golf club in my life, and started hitting balls!
    I’ve followed your instructions diligently, suffered all the issues as warned against by you, corrected as suggested, and to date making wonderful progress!
    There’s no looking back. I’m hooked thanks to you.

    One thing I noticed at the range the other day was by slowing my backswing down I was able to think about what I was doing. Danny this is fantastic! I’ve been a “roller” of my wrist in the takeaway ever since I started playing 15 years ago. Ive watched countless videos trying to find a correction, but nothing seemed to work (in the interest of fairness, a couple of them were yours). Took this to the range today and noticed a difference in my ball striking immediately - it’s by far the most concise explanation of how to maintain the Y I’ve come across. Can’t wait to keep grooving this and work up to a full swing!

I followed both your tips during my last round and shot an 82 (with ice on some greens) including a 280 yard drive, which almost gave me a nose bleed 😁. It even helped with my short game. Hi Danny just watched this video. This body shape is a real eye opener it is the basic but crucial position that players of my level don't maintain throughout the swing, it tends to break down after the takeaway. Once the body stops turning due to lack of flexibility we continue on, manipulating the rest of the swing with our arms. Destroying any chance of a repetitive result. Your tip using the tail of the Y is fantastic. This should give us the cue when your body has run out of rotation the wrists come into play and it's time to end the backswing. Giving us the correct length of backswing in relation to our flexibility.
    Thank you for giving us your insights and help they really are so welcome.
    Happy new year and wish you all the best for 2024

    Hi Danny; I found something that really helps to begin the backswing before anything else happens. I make a small forward weight shift but not moving the club before I start taking the club back for momentum rather than taking it back from a static position. It makes my takeaway much smoother & prevents taking it back too quickly.

    Always struggled with consistency in takeaway and rolling formarms. Every time i tried drills to fix this, my swing became wooden.

And today your great video on a similar topic with great exercises. You have sweetened my Saturday! I can hardly wait to try it out on the driving range. I must try to get a life coaching lesson from you one day. Your ability to explain golf is second to none and your drills are so simple and easy to adapt. A few weeks ago my brother-in-law told me he had stumbled across a great teaching Pro on RUclips (Hi Andreas btw in case you read this). I should definitely have a look at him, he would love to take a lesson with him. His name was Danny Maude (sorry for the initial misspelling). Hi Danny, first at all, thanks for all your amazing videos. What I like the most is your passion. Keep it up. I just want to say that sometimes is confusing. In lots of videos, your backswing is on waiter plate position for your right wrist. But recently, like in your last video, you encourage the backswing with the palm of your right arm to be far from your body while you squeeze your elbows. In other videos you encourage to do the swing among the swing plane, while in others you encourage to first let the club fall down and later rotate. It’s like two different approaches at being taught and make me confused. Cheers.

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  Год назад +1

    Danny - I think this video coupled with the release/follow through video you did 2 weeks ago are game changers. The only issue I have is that when adding the extension drill I notice I move my head forward prior to impact. Not sure if other viewers or students have the same issue.

    Great video. Even more impressive that you were fighting the weather. This reinforces what I’ve found in the past but I tend to loose the feeling and my consistency suffers. The drills are fantastic and so simple to understand and put into practice.

    Wow, you must have known I was just contemplating this. I was on the course yesterday and started bending my right arm to complete my backswing. It felt good but I started really pulling my drives left. Funny how when you are searching during a round how easy it is to stray from fundamentals. Thanks for getting me back on track.

    Another super helpful video! There is another part of the takeaway that I am still (sometimes) struggling with, and I was wondering if you could do a video on it if you get the time? This video helps a ton with what your arms are supposed to do, but I sometimes find myself putting the club (and arms) in the wrong position on the plane on the swing. e.g. I know that the club is supposed to end in the backswing, roughly on an opposite angle to where it starts from, but I sometimes find I am out of position in the backswing, which causes either a hook or a slice (depending if I come in too much in to out or out to in). I am looking for a drill to always ensure that the club moves backward on the correct plane. I try to do this by visualizing a line in the arc, but it's not consistent. Thanks for all you do!

    Thanks Danny,
    As a reasonable golfer who is struggling to reach the next level of consistency, these drills really resonate with me. A great set of exercises for ‘wristy’ types like myself

    Nice Danny. Pro tip, one of those rubber dog toys with the hexagon holes in in makes a great training aid like the balloon. (What the Pro Sendr uses but for $5 instead of $170) and there are different sized dog toys to choose from!

    Love your videos. One question I have is in one of your videos you give an example of curling a dumbbell at the top of the backswing which creates a bend in the trail arm but in this video with the drills about maintaining the "Y" you talk about not breaking the trail arm and losing the "Y" at the top. These 2 concepts seem completely opposite of each other.
    Thanks again!
    Steve

    This was perfect for me. I'm a senior golfer (lower flexibility) and I just had a lesson on Wednesday. My take away was horrible. Instructor was right. Videos don't lie. He said we need to get the take away right and consistent before we move on. I will be doing these drills.
    Wish you had a class here in Arizona! The way you explain things just seems to be easier for me to understand.
    Thanks!!!

    Best ever video you have made. As usual very well explained. The final part of the back swing is the missing key to most golfers back swing. the correct way the wrist set.at the final part. You should have your own SKY SPORTS CHANNEL.

    I had a lesson recently, showing me exactly this and I started hitting the ball further, by 30 yards using my 7 iron, but more importantly, straighter. I stopped blocking.

    Hi Danny, again great video. Only question from my side, and I could be wrong, that this swing method is contradicting with the swing method of Pete Cowen. Is my observation correct?

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  Год назад

      Hey George, a couple of people have said that because they interpreted Pete as saying bend the right elbow but he was primarily focused on the way the right arm and elbow rotated.
      It needs to rotate inwards towards the body to create the loaded position

    Hi Danny. Didn't video the Y drill but went and had a bucket of balls and then played 9 holes. Overall this drill made a huge difference to my ball striking - driver and irons - so will keep using this drill and feeling very positive about the results!

    Danny, i am hoping that the penny has dropped for me ... I watched this Y shape drill and tried it out at the range the next day. I used my 4 iron which is my worst club for some reason. I like your comment about 'not losing the integrity of the letter Y' and this is what I concentrated on. Man oh man... this drill worked for me almost every time. I need to get to the range again and again and keep trying this. This technique may well be the game changer that I needed. Many thanks Danny!!!

    This serves to remind me how much mobility and flexibility I've lost and what I've been doing to compensate. I realized I was not only bending my lead arm way too much. I was releasing my lead hand pinky grip at the top of my backswing to get more lag.
