- CALLAWAY EPIC FLASH SUB ZERO DRIVER, Mark Crossfield and Dan Hendriksen test the Sub Zero Callaway Epic Flash driver. Tested on the golf course as well as inside dry numbers does the new EPIC FLASH from Callaway Golf do what we need a sub zero to do. The Epic Flash driver from Callaway golf will be used around the world and by some of the worlds best golfers. Can it work for you and will it help you hit more fairways and longer drives.

This should do well given the success of the original Epic but I'm going to wait 6 weeks and see what the Rogue Spark has to offer.

I was testing the Sub Zero against a Rogue last week, and the sound of the Flash Sub was startling. I got good numbers with it, but I just couldn't get over the sound. A real shame. The Standard Flash is louder than Rogue or Original Epic, but much MUCH nicer than Flash Sub.
Many years ago I was working in a supermarket in Stockholm and I remember selling cheese to none other than Emperor Ming (Max von Sydow). Didn’t ask him if he played no 1 lost ball or not.
Surprising. I will tell you what is not surprising, Dan. He is splendid. Just that nice guy that everyone hopes for in a brother-in-law.

Thanks for the review - this really helps me exclude these two new Callaway models from my testing matrix for this season :-) Now I just have to test Cobra, TaylorMade, and Titleist against each other (and maybe the new 2nd Gen PXG).
The noise is hysterical, borderline embarrassing. I'd feel I'd have to apologize to my playing partners everytime I walked off the tee 😂. Lovely test though Mark with the even lovelier Dan.

I wish I lived next door to Dan. I think he would bring an incredible Caesar salad to the barbecue.
In 5 years I'll be able to pick one up for less than $150 Aus, and add it to my driver collection of Cobra Amp Offset, Ping i20, TaylorMade Aeroburner and R1 that I hit all the same distance. My 16 year old son on the other hand absolutely smokes the R1 and I often find it in his bag when he's on holidays and I'm at work.😂

Last year you performed a test where you set the shaft of the Rogue SZ into its draw setting, and it seemed to tame your excessive fade issue … try that again? Maybe the slightly more upright lie in the SZ is just a better fit for your swing characteristics.

Always fun to see if there’s any actual difference between Epic and Sub with Callaway. Are they coming out with a 3 wood as well? Not in the driver market at the moment. Cheers bruh!
Mark and Dan good video post, don't forget to give us/me the review of the Cobra f9 driver as soon as it arrives for you. Interested to see if you feel it's that much better than the f8 or just so so.
Why doesnt Callaway make a driver that you can change the weight from front to back so you don't have to choose between low spin and higher spin? I really want to try one of these but for the money, I just don't want to commit to a spin rate without trying it for a while. I have a 2016 m1 and love that I can tinker with the spin. If you are gonna have 2 different models, it should be one cheaper non adjustable neutral model and a fully adjustable model. Taylor made has this aspect absolutely correct. I wish Callaway would offer this and I might give them a try.
They did offer that in the original epic sz.. 2 and 12 gram weights interchangeable front and back
Comments about Dan on dog leg hole was the best part. Otherwise, all reviews say try it. Depends on the player.

I'm starting to think that all future driver reviews should be based on: price, number of stock shaft options, adjustabilty, looks and sound characteristics. Everything else is pointless when dependant on the human interaction (sponsored or not 😋) .

Hi mark, you said this club makes you fade a little more than normal is that to do with the lie at address? You say all the time when adjusting driver shafts (those with adjustable shafts) that you override the lie angle at address when adjusted, so why not with this driver? #lockyarmy

the standard epic flash was spinning around 500rpm less with Mark than the sub????
Sounds a bit like the old Nike sq ...square drive we referred to buy us as the bean can because of the sound... i would know if someine was hitting one anywhere on the course....hope the Callaway isn't as bad as it sounds on video...could be a bit embarrassing!!!
To me this is one of if not the worst looking driver that has came out in a while. The line on the top looks offputting to me and the color scheme to me looks very cheap. Again, personal preference but I would never ever ever pick this up to test it based solely on looks
They will be allowing you to pick from a few custom colors which is good.
Head cover is far worse

maybe im not right, but i think Flash is more of DC Flash than Flash Gordon ... lightning and speed etc. :) About the drivers ... i dont like the colors :(

Would a low spin driver help someone who hits down on the ball? Or take lessons to change AoA? What are you doing Dan?
Ray Farrell take a lesson I think, that’s my issue too but I wouldn’t want an unforgiving driver for the sake of a few yards

Why go high pitched in noise when every driver on the market is heading toward the more mute carbon noise? The muted is much more appealing, and much friendlier on the ears when we hit the good ol rock.... I mean range balls.

Not as low spinning for a Sub Zero because the front weight is only 2g.

If you want to draw it more naturally, then move the weight towards the heal a bit more. If you want to fade it, move the weight more towards the toe. Problem solved. Also I believe Mark is striking the ball too much and too soon, towards the left. In other words he is releasing too soon and needs to get his release about 20° more past the ball.
