    Heyhey Brock the reason that they are not used much on dump trailers is because the adjustments will be different for each load, your load in a dump trailer will be different each time you use it. One time hauling dirt one time hauling rock , each weighing different which changes the adjustments. But with an RV or travel trailer the weight is pretty much the same each time. Good video

    • @RockhillfarmYT
      @RockhillfarmYT  2 года назад

      Good point, and I thought about that but generally I load it to full capacity every time
      You can readjust it for a different amount of weight in a couple of minutes but most people probably don’t feel like doing that
      Thanks for watching

    Brock, just a small recommendation, put the retainer clips in from front to back, that way if you ran over something on the road if it popped up and hit the pin it can't be knocked out.

    It’s not just the weight you tow that you have to consider. Example is Ford tells you to use a weight distribution hitch if the tongue weight is over 500 pounds on the half tons. Meanwhile on the Super Duty F350 or F450 with the 3 inch receiver hitch they have now said distribution hitches are not necessary on the newer models.

    • @RockhillfarmYT
      @RockhillfarmYT  2 года назад +3

      Right. On my ram 1500 it says 5000 pounds. On my current ram 2500 it says you may want to use a weight distribution hitch on heavy trailers but it doesn’t put a weight on there
      I think the length and height of the trailer also make a big difference. This 14,000 pound dump trailer probably doesn’t sway as much as a 14,000 pound 25 foot long camper
      Thanks for watching

      @@RockhillfarmYT Ford has a sticker right on the hitches if it’s a factory installed hitch. Ram like GM do their own things. The one thing Ram does that all manufacturers should copy is the door jam sticker that clearly gives you the correct weights for what you can safely tow as that particular vehicle was built from the factory. Keep the great videos coming!

      @@RockhillfarmYT Brock, as always a great video. Remember that sway is only one reason. In your case the hitch is distributing more weight to the front axle when you are bumper pulling. So even though your dump trailer may not sway as much, you always want to distribute weight back to the front axles for braking and wet weather driving.

    Hey Brock. I'm curious why you have the dump trailers coupler mounted so low? Seems like you could level out your trailer by raising the coupler instead of a longer drop hitch. Just curious. Good luck and be safe. 🙂🚜🇺🇲🦌

    How did this thing end up performing for you and your application? I went to your channel to find a follow-up vid, but I don't see one.
    I am about to order the same hitch for my 33' TT. With my existing cheap EAZ Lift WD setup (just chains) and cheap friction anti-sway bar, the damn 1-ton still gets blown around more than I'd like. I'm hoping that dropping some coin into the problem with this innovative product will help. I've researched a ton of these more expensive WD hitches, and a ton of folks on YT argue that the Weigh Safe is as good as it gets, short of the 3 thousand dollar Hensley hitches that I'm sure work great, but I'm just not going to drop that sort of money. The only other option that I looked into is the Equalizer WD hitch, but the Weigh Safe app and design looks like the easiest and most effective thing for a guy like me that just hooks up the camper on the weekend and in the summer.

      I am really not the best person to ask because I am not currently using it.
      I use the other weigh safe hitches every day and love them.
      I am sponsored by weigh safe and they asked me to do a set up video on this product but I decided it really doesn’t make sense to use a weight distribution hitch on a dump trailer because it weighs a different amount every time I run it and would need to be adjusted to really work properly.
      As you know they are meant for travel trailers and RVs and I don’t own one of those

    • @RobertHasty

      I'm in the same boat on that question. I'm guessing you put the weight of trailer/camper on hitch let the auto leveling do it's thing then take all your measurements.

    Great information! About 98% of all folks pulling trailers dont know what they are doing for sure! The first WDH I used in the mid 70’s was a Reese Brand and I could literally lift the rear wheels of the truck off of the ground with it putting weight on the front axle of the truck and the trailer tandems. It was made a lot heavier than the hitch you show here but it didn’t have any kind of a weight gauge. Really enjoy your video’s the content is great and really needed just to make people “Think Safety”. 👍👍

    I think the weight safe hitches are great when they work but the gauge on mine broke 3 times in 2 years they will not replace it again I have a Bwise ultimate dump trailer just like TTWT has. that I tow daily in the summer for my landscaping business I still use the hitch but for the last 2 years the scale is broken. The company does not stand behind there product. I had to pay shipping to have it fixed the first 2 times. They also would not warranty it for the first year because they went of the manufactures date instead of the date i ordered it and I did have my receipt to show them. bottom line I order a $350 hitch and it broke 3 times in the first 2 years and I had to pay shipping and was down a hitch.

      Just looking at it it seems like that would be a negative but since it is weight distributing the company describes that offset as a positive….

    VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS HITCH!! Will not work on all travel trailers. I have a Jayco 330 RSTS that experiences dangerous amounts of trailer sway with this hitch. There is not enough adjustability between the spring arms and the spring arm platform which causes a decrease in surface area and friction needed to control the sway. I contacted Weigh-Safe customer support and they basically blew me off without even attempting to help with my problem. Will be buying a different hitch as this one is too dangerous to use with my trailer.

    I'm not taking any information from this video from somebody who doesn't know how to load and unload a trailer or the how to use a hitch on a pickup truck either fits on a bumper or gooseneck or fifth wheel without looking up an app to find out how to do it

    • @RockhillfarmYT
      @RockhillfarmYT  2 года назад +3

      I pull trailers every day. Bumper pull and gooseneck.
      Whatever complaint you have about this system would be with the company that designed it.
      I’m demonstrating a product that requires the use of an app. There are lots of weight distribution hitches that don’t require that but this one does. Most of the other brands you use a tape measure to see how your weight is distributed Between the front and rear axles.
      Just a change of the times
