Important note! You’ll notice the “includes paid promotion” notification at the beginning of this video. The ONLY payment I accepted from Weigh Safe for this video was my travel reimbursement. Nothing more. Cheers!!
Thanks for the disclosure, I’m impressed and glad they flew you out for us to all learn more. I wish they had spoke more about the sway control. I know it distributes weight and that is a huge reason to get this hitch.
I bought a WeighSafe True Tow (heavyweight) after watching the Hitch Battle videos. It was a huge improvement in my towing experience. I love everything about it. Infinitely adjustable for my various tongue weights. I’ve been to the scales numerous times and the weight distribution is spot on every time. The slider is easily removed from the receiver making the weight easier to handle for my old back. And, I can drop the tailgate when connected. After using it for nearly a year and 8,000 miles I absolutely love it. Thank you, Cory, for helping me make a great purchase- and I used the promo code for the discount. I have recommended it to many curious campers.
Our little trailer is only 5500 pounds. However, our dealer set us up with a Blue Ox when we bought it. Weigh Safe or someone representing them stated that the gauge can be less than reliable at low weights. I've noticed that the Blue Ox makes a difference, so I tend to think that even with this light trailer, that we will benefit. And at age 75, the BO can be challenging to setup at odd angles. I have to lift my vehicle wheels almost clear of the ground at times. I think that is a bit hard on my tongue jack! That and the superior ride draws me to this hitch. Am I being ridiculously overkill on this? Thank you for the reviews! Hopefully, you get some commission on this one. Btw, I am looking at the medium weight True Tow for the slightly lighter head. David
Hi David! I don’t think you’re overthinking anything. You’re simply doing your homework! Just to be clear any weight distribution hitch will offer challenges when hooking up at odd angles. I’m not sure the Weigh Safe will remedy that situation. On that note you shouldn’t be having to use the tongue jack to that extreme either. Having used both hitches I do think you’d see a nice improvement with a medium weight Weigh Safe. Especially if your tow vehicle is on the lighter side. Let me know how things go. Cory
We are ready to buy but one dealership said they were having problems with them breaking. I have seen a lot of reviews saying they are having problems with the scale breaking, the hitch breaking and the hitch ball coming loose. Are you seeing issues currently? Need to order very soon. Thank you for your help and we love your videos.
The weight distribution hitch has been great. I believe their aluminum hitches can have issues when abused past their stated capacities (which happens often). Nothing is indestructible but I’ve been VERY happy with the build on the 2 separate hitches I have (heavyweight and middleweight).
I recently received my mid weight True-Tow system after waiting several months for them to be back in stock. I wondered why the delay since everything is made and assembled "in house". and found some parts of it have "Made in China" on them. No explanation was given with the shipping Bill Of Lading. I appreciated them honoring the wanderingweekends discount code, but now I'm a bit nervous as to if the bread and butter parts made from cheaper Chinese steel when the Heavy Duty model is apparently all made in the USA. What's up with THAT???
Thanks for the tour. We bought a Middle-weight hitch for our new TT. We are picking up the trailer on Friday. Excited to see how it does. Thanks for all of your reviews. As a new camper your videos have been a go to resource for us.
Well, I made my order of the middle-weight, got my confirmation that it had shipped, then got a notice that they could not deliver the 4" drop until the end of April; could go with the 6" and get it in early March - would like the 6" but the top of my receiver is 19.25" which could jeopardize the hitch in low spots. Stuff happens. It kind of goes along with having our truck stolen at the end of November - and then getting it back - repairs completed on 1/12/23; buying a new 2022 Grand Design 2600RB on 11/3/22 and finding the undercarriage had "excessive corrosion" (per Lippert) at the end of December - should have looked and/or have had it inspected; GD and the dealer finally agreed to address the issue (Lippert did not) and I do not know when that will be completed; returned the ReCurve 3 that the dealer supplied instead of the promised TR3 to buy the WSMW; based on your videos I had told them I would bring the WS if they were not providing the TR3 - of course, that was the Heavy, before I knew about the MW. Hitchless and trailerless - maybe we should take a hint - but we will press on! Thanks for all the great info!
Thank you for this video, enjoyed seeing how they are made and tested. We purchased a heavy duty weight distribution hitch after your hitch comparison and the promo code was so greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Really enjoyed the tour! I geek out on that stuff too so it's nice to see how it's built and their quality control. You definitely sold me on the heavy duty hitch when I ultimately get my trailer. Just kind of waiting out of trailers with the stupid cost 😂
I also purchased the Weigh-safe middleweight because of you, and I stopped by the factory on my way from Idaho to Arizona and they installed it for me. The difference in towing performance before and after was stunning!
I had decided on the pro pride hitch for our first retirement RV. But, after watching your shoot out and this video. The weight safe is now on the top of my list. For a number of reasons. But ease of setup and cost are the 2 big ones.
Love the video. Based on your other videos I ordered the hitch last Thursday using your code for a discount. It's nice to see quality products built in the USA
Haha. Not clean. My part time retirement job is helping a friend at his radiator repair shop. Weight safe looks like a hospital operating room compared to our shop. Great video. I’m not going to far this year, have a new to me truck to pull my trailer. Once it proves itself capable I’ll start doing some longer trips in 2024. ( Can you say the Yukon and Alaska ) I’ll definitely look at the weight safe then.
I am ready to order the middleweight but a little nervous because you have not fully tested. Having visited plant would you move forwarded with mid versus hvy wt. I have a time crunch for travel. Have 25 foot airstream with 1000. Tongue weight. 2023 f 150 max tow. Any thoughts
I have a super duty as well and being able to open the tailgate is a big thing for me. I have a blue ox now and I can…. What other hitches will allow this?
Very interesting tour! Thanks. I know on Equalizer, a lot of folks size up the bars. I am considering a middle weight weigh safe. My 2600RB is 8300lbs GVWR. I am usually around 7500 pounds. Are the 8500 pound bars good here or is there any stability advantage to using the heavier bars on this type hitch?
@@WanderingWeekends I just looked at specs. The tongue weight is limited by the bars. I run around 900 on the tongue, so I need the heavier bars. Your discount is $127. I owe you a beer!
I really don’t want the scale tho. I’d love to see a weight distribution one without any scale made by them. I just don’t see them being accurate long term and don’t wanna pay for something I don’t want or ever plan to use. Cool sure but I don’t need or want it. That’s why I chose the 180 series for me use case
The scale is crucial on the weight distribution hitch. You need the tongue weight before engaging the hitch and the distributed weight while engaged. The app and the scale set their weight distribution hitch apart from the others.
@@WanderingWeekends I’m not trying to be rude or disrespectful. But if it’s so crucial how have we gone hundreds of years and there are countless brands with no scale and no intentions of said scale? Again I’m just asking a logical question is all. I definitely see the point behind it. However something like this I wouldn’t trust long term to be fully accurate. As a master auto diesel tech I know these types of gauges have to be calibrated every so many years and to my knowledge does anyone do this?? Again no rudeness or anything I’m just asking
No disrespect taken 1. These hitches haven’t been around for 50 years much less 100’s. I’m not sure where that came from. This tech is constantly being taken to new levels. No one else has a scale because it’s patented. Pretty simple there. No one wants to get sued. 2. I’ve tested 9 (soon to be 10) hitches and these perform better than all of them minus the $3500 ProPride. Take from that what you will but I’m convinced the perfect setup (which is achieved by the scale) is the reason why.

Make me a believer that the gauge will remain accurate. Nothing said about that in this video making me even more skeptical. In one of your video's you mentioned that you had to adjust the hitch every time you hooked it up even with the same load making me believe even more that this thing is not accurate. I'm not trying to be rude but based on everything I've seen with this hitch the accuracy is definitely a major concern. Until this issue is addressed I won't buy one.
Weigh Safe products have worked well for me. That said, it doesn't matter to me one bit whether you purchase one or not. Your skepticism is welcome here... but they test the gauges... I watched them.
Weigh Safe has shifted their discount to 10%... while unfortunate it still saves you around $100 on a WDH!
