    Great video. I run the anderson right now but it's not capable of putting enough weight back on the front with a heavy TT.. plus it's not as easy to hook up as this unit despite what people say. Last the brake material might last a season before needing replaced. This hitch seems like a great new design. Thang for reviewing it!

      1) a rubber strap that latches over the pump handle to make sure it doesn't pop out
      2) a way to secure the nut that bleeds the pressure from the pump, its right on the side of the pump where a kid can just unscrew it at a rest stop

We pulled across Oklahoma and I did not even know we had 35mph wind until I stopped for fuel. Very happy with it so far. Tow set up is : 2006 dodge 3500SRW with a grand design momentum 25g. WoW 😢 Now this is an awesome hitch. I am looking into the Gen-Y, Anderson and now this B&W hitch. We tow with a 2020 Infiniti QX80 and our e2 Fastway hitch is so noisy and it’s horrible with 15-20 mile an hour winds. We don’t feel safe with it at all. This hitch is in our wish list now since it’s very expensive.

    • @SaltyDog69

      I tow with a 2023 Armada and use the Eaz-Lift (dealer gifted) 😉, it is noisy and heavy. My prior trailer I used the Anderson hitch, really liked it. I only tow a 22’ Rockwood mini lite.

  • @Denden505
    @Denden505 Год назад

    The hitch seems like there would be a lot of torque and pressure at the coupler since the bars are so short. I would also consider adding a safety chain around each cylinder support pin bracket to mitigate cylinder failure while towing.

    Oh Lord, all I need is another hitch. I now have three, and I am again tempted by this one. I first got the Weigh Safe, but I quickly found that the weight of the hitch and bars was more than I wanted to deal with.....I'm 72 and looking for an easier life. So then I got the Andersen hitch, but had difficulty with it (nothing big....just more sway than I wanted). Then I bit the bullet and got the Pro-Pride, and it is easy for this old guy to manage ..... except for the weight of the stinger. But now I'm eagerly awaiting your evaluation of this B&W hitch. It will be interesting to see how the sway control stacks up against the others.

  • @Griff8898

    Looking forward to the full review. I'm now between this one and the weigh safe. I like the adjustment on the fly abilities. I'm still sporting a BO swaypro that I've had for a couple of trailers and now a 37ft'r. I've got plenty of truck, but I'm now realizing (through your reviews) I don't have to put up with some of the BO deficiencies ie. sway, adjustment, porpoising.

    You are a great information resource on RVing providing a camper perspective without a sales pitch. Interested in the product because of the technology. I have a 2022 F250 with the 7.3 and just did my first tow with the truck. Only .2MPG difference between my old Suburban with the 5.3 engine. Curious as to what tire pressure you run on your tow vehicle and on your travel trailer as proper tire pressure can cause some towing issues along with proper additional cargo weight distribution in the trailer. Thank yo for this review!

    • @WanderingWeekends
      @WanderingWeekends  Год назад

      Appreciate that!
      Max PSI on the TV tires =80 psi. I run. The front at 65 and the rear at 75. This seems to give me a good ride along with adequate pressure to handle the hitch of the trailer. For cargo distribution you’ll need to make sure a minimum of 10% of your loaded trailer weight is on the ball. I’d cheat towards 15%.

I saw something in the rear camera video on your test drive flapping I thought a chunk of safety chain was striking the ground but must be the tag I see in this video.
    I have had an equalizer for 5 years on my camper and it’s brutal to mount and hook up and very noisy when not lubed properly. Also at 25” inches is that ball hight the max ? It looked as though you brought it up to the last hole and it maxed out. Lastly will you be keeping this system on permanently or moving on to #11 in the near future ?
    Thanks really enjoyed your videos appreciate you posting.

    Nice looking hitch. I like the weight distribution system a lot. Neat innovation! But it seems to me the sway control still relies on friction between the trailer receiver and the hitch ball. So its a sway reducer as opposed to a sway preventer like the Propride system. Anyway, a really nice video and I'll look forward to your full review.

    My initial thoughts are that while the hydraulic WD control is pretty cool. It’s great at fine tuning your WD setup and nice that you can do the full setup from one side of the hitch easily.
    However the hydraulics are also a failure point that more conventional hitches don’t have. And you know it’s going to fail at the worst possible moment.
    Also it will be Interesting to see what hook up and disconnection is like. As it is the system looks like it might be a bit of a pain point.

    My first instinct on this hitch is that it may not work well on lower trailers, such as enclosed cargo trailers like a lot of truck camper owners tow behind their rig, like I do. Most cargo trailers only have a hitch height of about 18-20". Lower trailers would cause this hitch to be too close to the ground.

      I have this B&W hitch and they don’t have to be in a straight line with each other, although it helps. I did find that if the trailer and truck are on extreme non-level ground w truck much higher than trailer, I had trouble removing the bars from the hitch due to lack of travel space. But that is likely unique to me as I have a center frame support that starts 16.5” behind my jack that prevents the cylinder from swinging far enough back.

    So two questions:
    1. Since it is beefy, how much extra tongue weight does it add, because that does need to be factored into payload calculations?

    • @WanderingWeekends
      @WanderingWeekends  Год назад +2

      1. Only the scale can really tell you where your payload stands. Keep in mind the hitch moves weight to the trailer as well. How much weight? You’d need a scale to know exactly. That could be a great vid.
