@nate0 Ever since I started in car audio, I’ve always installed everything myself. I do not like to rely on other people and I’m definitely not gonna pay that amount of money to do a crappy job. And besides if something goes wrong, I know my system from top to bottom so I can diagnose everything that occurs without having to pay somebody every time if some issue rises up.
I built a box in the mid 90's for 2 Earthquake 12" sub-woofers out of 3/4" MDF and covered the outside with cardboard to make it look like it was made of cardboard, The install also had a non functioning small Jensen amp that only appeared to be running those 12's.
Dude. I absolutely LOVE your channel and YOU! You just seem like such an all around honest, cool dude. ALWAYS a huge smile, positive and happy. The world needs more Parkers. Don't ever change my man!
Hey buddy, I ordered the 4x4 cardboard sheets today for the build. I'll be starting on it soon. I'll start updating videos when the project is started. Can't wait to see yours.
i remember when i was like 14 i put a 15 into the wheel opening of a 44" super swamper tire. it was funny and flopped around to much to even get a sound with
Well wanna hear something funny.. I bought a new car last week... My lil brother 23yr old is wanting to learn how to install bigger systems... And he needed some extra $$ so.. I gave him a install job.. I bought a 2nd VW CC Turbo sport.. it's a 2013 and my daily is a 2010. My 2010 has the big ol K04 turbo system upgrade.. it's ridiculously quick alot has been done to it.. anyway since Skar had a sale on Subs.. I bought three more VXF 15"s. They came in and I ordered a new Box from Down4sound tuned to 30hz it's a custom box to fit the car.. it was gonna go into my daily but now it's in my newer 2nd VW CC. Well I was working on our farm and I stopped to help him get that big ass box in the cars trunk. Everything went good. So I left him to finish it while I milked the cows and fed our 650+ goats we have around the farm. Yes we own and operate a large 800acer dairy farm here in Marshall NC btw lol. But anyway I go do that. A few hours later I come back to check up on him to see if he needs help or got questions n he is finished with it.. 🤔🤔🤔.. well it sounded amazing loud as hell btw. So I paid him $200 bucks told him good job n all... A few days go by.. I just so happened to open my passenger door and I seen my Power wire going through my door and through my wheel well 😂😂😂😂... So Everytime that passenger door is shut it smashes my power wire 😂. So I go and follow the path he took.. he done alot right but he didn't take it into the engine bay correctly obviously lol he went throw the door option 😂. So I had to pull the wire out and re run it myself and put it through the firewall which was kinda hard so I can't be mad at him. Atleast he tried 😂😂. But yeah my 0g Down4sound pink ofc wire was being pinched in the door henge which could have shorted out anything. But it's fixed now.. I asked him wtf 😒 😂 and he said he couldn't find a opening for that size of wire through the firewall and he wasn't about to drill a hole in my car.. so I respect that. But yeah when. I seen it I couldn't stop laughing n I said to myself that lazy mofo ran my power through the door lol
Mad props to your bro for wanting to take on an install like that for you. In my trade alot of our decisions could backfire and i mean a back charge from our customer. In example they added a new bathroom vent/light combo but the original was only a vent on it's own switch. Homeowner wanted the light, and vent switched seperate so we had to get a new switchleg/wire and make the switch box bigger. I was in the attic and my foreman was in the bathroom ready to feed me the wire and I had to get down the wall. Both of us airheads didnt think that the bedroom the bathroom was attached to had built in shelves and we assumed it was a soffited area for ductwork or whatever. Tells me to beat a hole in the sheetrock from the attic next thing you know I'm staring down from the attic into the master bedroom we walked through to get to the bathroom from this hole I just beat in their ceiling. Not something that happens very often definitely wont forget that mistake anytime soon. Morales of the story sometimes you have to make those executive decisions and as long as EVERYONE is careful it will be fine. Being too careful, or careless, usually shows itself somewhere down the line.
For 200 bucks I woulda ran your wire through the door jamb, too. I say you got what you paid for 😏 Just fuckin widja. My ex-bro-in-law didn't completely bolt his front seat down after running his power under it. First good bump set his carpet on 🔥 lol. Yeah. No fuse. 😂
steve meade has done a few of these. i really like what he did for the black chevy he did. 5 star 911's are some of my favorite videos too. i'm no world class installer, but some of these you just have to wonder how methed up the guy was. crazy.
Parker! Cardboard box! Please though double baffle it, and use thicker packing cardboard! When I was like 15 and first getting into audio, I bought my first ever subwoofer and I had it wired free air for my first ever testing, and I loved how it sounded when I would drop it off into the cardboard box it came with 🤣 let me relive this nostalgia please 🤘🤘
I was working at Long John Silver's in school and put the 8" sub from my Sparkomatic Bass Cannon in a cardboard drink syrup box. Didn't sound too bad in my room...
Parker I was wondering what makes you always do reviews on 12in subwoofers I was just curious why the 12 is your favorite it's happens to be my favorite size subwoofer to
I was 14 and I did it in the door as well. It did pinch and the truck almost went up in flames. I look back and shake my head over it. I always think back and what could I do better and change. That was the biggest one and I think about it everytime I do one
Oh this brings me back to my installation days i have so many story's from working on mike tysons cars to the biggest hoopties and fixing other shops just atrocious installs. But one that sticks out in my head is this younger guy around 20 or so he comes in and is looking at th tweeters just tweeters he ask if this is all we have and i said no we have stock in the back but theres 6 sets of 1 inch tweeters their on display hes like yea i need more i said how many vehicles he said just fo my regal so he buys 16 1" tweeters and pays for installation i go outside to pull car around to o into install bay the whole deiver side is t-boned so i had to get in from pass side headliners hanging i asked where do you want these i had to mount tweeters on sun visors pillars doors basically the car was a big tweeter no bass or even mids for that matter lol just a grand worth of tweeters
If you decide on a cardboard box, make sure it's got multiple baffles. Maybe contact a subwoofer distributor, see if they have a huge box with multiple boxes inside. Also port box with cardboard tube for authenticity, i've seen plenty of coaxial shoe box builds (6x9s ect...). Keep em coming brotha 💪
I do audio install and I will have to say that half the issue is people asking for certain things or things in certain places and aren’t satisfied unless it’s done the way they want it so you’re stuck doing something you normally don’t want to do.
Can you do a review of the dayton audio ho 12? I see it on audiophile subreddits all the time, but almost no videos on it in a car. Would be greatly appreciated. You would get all the views of anyone looking into it!
I once made a sub enclosure out of a cardboard microwave box,a exacto knife a trunk of old clothes ,old can of fb resin.a old reciever from a garage, a 300 watt boss amp,a walkman and a power block from a old xbox and about six other random speakers from tvs and junk cars ,,,had my room sounding like a marching band..i just cut the baffle out with the extacto knife.tuned and taped my cardboard cut out port out for 32 ..it worked fine until i started to apply resin .but luckily there was a trunk of old shirts etc.which i cut into pieces along with the resin, and started with a kinda of base that i built onto and after it dryed that shit was thick and hard and it sealed airtight.... looked like a mini couch but it shook the house ...
I can now just imagine the things going threw my buddys mind when i told him i could fix his cracked subbox with a bottle of woodglue and a roll of brawny pappertowels..🤣🤣🤣🤣

If the stereo shop burns your car down, you can sue them for a good amount get a new car and stuff 10 18” subs in there later. ☺️
