I just replaced the surround on my 10W7 after 18 years. $40 and some time to fix what is now a $1000 sub. Not bad. Cool to see all the competition these days. I don't even need all the power this can put out with a JL 500/1 amp and a sealed box I built. I enjoy hearing. At 52, I have some friends with hearing aids now. Take it easy young dudes.
That's why I keep resisting the urge to upgrade from my single skar vxf 15. It gets plenty loud both in and out of my truck. At shows I hear some of these guys with multiple high powered subs on 10k+ watts and wonder how they can still hear
I loved my Rockford T1DS12’s. Right now I’m running 2 JL 12TW3’s….as I have serious space limitations….and they hit pretty well for shallow mounts. They are running off a Rockford T-750 amp, which is a cute little beast. I’m new to your channel but it only took me watching a couple of your vids before I decided to subscribe. Beasts! I got two v3s with high xmax coils, on stiff suspensions, and carbon dust caps both in a 4fc shared chamber tuned to 33hz running off of a SFB 3k. The windshield flex is no joke, and the sound quality is excellent. If you do decide on getting them, I would recommend going with at least 2.25cf per sub and a 4500-5000 watt amplifier for power. They laugh at the 3k.

Curious if you've tried out B2 subwoofers yet? Like most brands they do have nice entry level subs. But keep up the great work! 👍
Sorry for the delayed response, Sunday wasn't exactly "restful" haha. I had every intention on buying the 8" B2 XM Rages. Wanted to do a 3 sub setup. But couldn't turn down the deal on these 12s. Same 2 amps are currently powering the B2s and they definitely want more 😳😏 BUT, with 2 kids, buying bigger amps or amp will have to wait.
JL Audio W7’s can’t be beat for SPL and SQ in a small box. Even better, they don’t require a lot of power to get loud, all the brands Parker uses are too power hungry. Power to power, none of the subs Parker uses can compete in SPL and much less in SQ than the W7’s.
Got my first set of subs about 16 years ago. They were Cadence Beast on a Cadence Z series amp (analog) Those were probably the best sounding subs I've ever had. Next was some Memphis Audio M3s .. wasn't impressed. Went to a couple Cadence ZRS with a C2 amp. Hit hard but still never had the quality of the Beast IMO. Now I'm running some Crossfire 10s in a custom built Fox Box clone w/ custom port (under backseat of a crew cab) These are good quality. Sound good and hit good for what they are.
Need to check out B2, and now I know the price can be high, but Hutchinson Audio are pretty extreme and not really tested or rated by many. But from those I've seen with them absolutely love them. And extremely customizable.
My Favorite Subwoofer's i Had Where 2 12" Rockford Fosgate Hx2s.. With A Kicker Kx1200.1 "Trunk Sounded like it was gunna blow off... It was The Oldder Kx it was Gray with the Side cage plates.. An i had a Few 12 an 15inch American Bass subs..
I just replaced my 3 kicker cvr 10s with 2 12s power acoustik bamf running at 1ohm and I have to say they bang...took little longer to break in the most subs but gotta say didn't think these would bang this hard or flex like they do.budget subs for the win
Good list Parker putting the skarbage in the dead last spot lmao while ya put the Xv2 above everything. I own a Xv2 10 myself and that lil guy is a behemoth that I've literally beaten the shit out of it demoing and freq sweeping and it still keeps throwing 💪
How do you get into competitions and stuff? There isn't anything like that around where I live. I so wish there was. I work and live at a 40 acre resort hotel..plenty of space to do car shows and such. I'd love to set up something cool this summer
I have 2 of those audiopipe quad stack 10s in a 3.5 cf ported box tuned to 30hz, it's the 5th box I've built for my vehicle & it sounds far better than any of the other of the other boxes I've installed. I had a dual skar svr sealed, a box with 4 6.5 skar evl's & a single toro force 12s. I'm probably gonna build a box slightly larger for 2 audiopipe bdc4 12s knowing it'll certainly be amazing after seeing what 2 10s can do. In my opinion, there's no way you're gonna beat the audiopipe quad stacks for the dollars to performance level you'll get. I'm running a deaf bonce aab 2900 amp on the subs & sometimes we gotta figure out the "bass to space" compromise on our daily drivers. A friend i work with was highly suggesting that i try the quad stacks & I can see why. They sound good on all types of music & hit very very hard at less than half the price of anything that compares to them.
Run a audio pipe amp to it... you will change your mind.. it's garbage... doesn't hold up... and if you don't cool them off with any kinda fans.. ur risking burning your ride up.. not to mention they draw way to many amps for what they put out
@@crookcounty1978 yeah audiopipe subs are OK, but I run taramps for bass amps. Who's got room for a audiopipe amp Anyhow? That new soundqubed Korean built amp looks nice tho
I wanna see somebody playing some of the updated SSA subs. They were right up there with Sundown and RE Audio years ago and they're still hand made in the US. I used to run their SQ sub, the Dcon but I switched to a Skar VVX for more output in the same price range. Its hard to find any videos of the new Icon or Zcon playing
I’m running a 10” XV2 after running a JL Audio sub and to me the sound is almost the same. The sundown does hit harder though. I think the JL sounds a bit better and more efficient so it plays bass at lower volumes. I wish on your chart you had listed the name of the subs. I would like to have that.
Am in kenya in East Africa an I have a van that I accused recently and I wish you call come over and wire this old van with nice sound, God bless the good knowledge and works of your hands.
You should make a removable wall enclosure. Put it in for testing and take it out for driving so you don't have major blind spots. Wall, wall, wall!! Spl score I bet would be phenomenal!!
Question for the tech guys here....have subs become more inefficient over time? Back in the early 2000's it seemed everything had a sensitivity in the 90db's and sometimes over 100db's, but all of these are in the 80's. Has something changed with design or are modern subs just so beefy that the extra mass makes them less sensitive?
I kinda lean towards pointing a finger to our far east or west depending on how you look at it, mass production suppliers. Seems like the mass and "cheaper" to produce subs that get built across seas in China using possibly sub par or cheaper parts and materials have a little to blame. Obviously I'm just speculating and not saying ALL subs shipped from China are like that but 🤷♂️idk. I get what you mean though.
Today’s subs are geared toward high excursion and ported boxes. Super stiff and need a ton of power to move the cones. SQ and efficiency has gone out the window.
There's a lot of confusion with xmax, people will see a huge number on one sub and see another with a considerably lower number and assume one moves way more than the other. But the formula xmax= coil winding width minus top plate(gap) thickness divided by 2, so a sub with a 3"(76.2mm) tall coil winding width with a 3/4" (19.05mm) thick top plate has 28.3 mm xmax seems pretty big...but a same 3" (76.2mm) tall winding width with a 1.5" (38.1mm) thick top plate instead comes out to 19.05mm of xmax... that seems way lower a lot would think wow that one moves way less but the truth is there both going to have similar overall excursion, It's just 2 different types of motor architecture which one is better you will hear opinions on both sides.
The timphany 15 only lists 10mm xmax but has like 3+" of travel lol a lot of people don't understand TS specs or how they are calculated/affect enclosures and sound.
Exactly....the information and knowledge is out there. I get it though, some people can't or don't want to sit and listen/watch someone speak about the technicalities of what makes a subwoofer play and perform the way they do. Myron/MB Enclosures, has done a good job at explaining to an extent.
Still believe the bdc4 12 is easily the best budget banger to this day I still have vids of them on my channel but these deafbonce avatar 12s are INNNNSANE
Audiopipe is definitely the underdog here, for the price, they have decent quality products. The sounds in the video was a little messed up parker fyi. Good video though
I agree, I installed 2 10" TXX in my sister's MKX. Powered by one of my older JL 750/1 and it sounds hella good. 👌😎 at around 130 per sub I was skeptical at first but damn, I'd purchase myself after hearing them.
I’m doing 2 Sundown Sa v2 12”s on a Sundown SFB 3000D. 0gauge, big 3, with a Ds4 LT0 lithium battery in the back. Stock alt and battery. I’ll probably get a agm battery for under the hood. All in a 2019 accord 2.0t. I’d like to do the alternator upgrade eventually but do you think I can get away with it for a little while?
Honestly, I think as long as you do the batteries for the time being yes, but if you can sneak a digital voltage gauge into your budget I'd recommend it. Just watch out for extended high level periods when at idle. Just my .02 but definitely get the alt when possible 👍👌
I love DB 3015. My only regret is not getting the R but I wad able to buy the reg 3015 for like $400 new. Really lucked out on that one. It eats my MD8k
The db 3015 and the 3015r is the same exact sub. The only difference is it added "400" watts rms to it. They are both the same exact weight and same exact specs other than that. I had bought the last 3015 from gp car audio and I had to pre order the 3015r. Production prices went up for the 3015 so it cost more to produce thats why the price went up and they added the r to make it seem like it was upgraded but it's the same. They are extremely underrated subs. I have two taramps bass 8k's for my one 3015 and one 3015r they both handle it well. I have them wired to 2 ohms and clamping around 5,400 watts. They take the power very well.
I really like all your insight and wisdom. I bought subs because u said they were better so I could use some free one because I lost mine somebody stole them
Thank you 4 sharing all this cool content , i love BASS so i find everything here interesting. I used to have a systen but don't at the moment, hopefully soon tho god willing. Man I love subs I’m running 2 alpine type rs 750s on a old school Zeus 3200.1 with a Zeus 1000.4 v2 for the highs sounds dope slamming in my grand marquis custom ported box
So i'm unsure if i have owned more then 5 car audio subs but here is my list 1.)Digital Designs 715D series: best subs sound quality and volume wise as in gets hectic loud with amazing bandwidth no matter the box and sounds soooo smooth on every note. 2.)Sundown X15 V1: The King of wind, this subs only trade offs is the SQ part and bandwidth by 15% other then that it hits like a truck at anything below 33hz and cause so much air pressure it's ridiculous to compare it to any other sub in that aspect and at the moment i am enjoying the hell out of it and getting another one. 3.)Ice power 715: The middle man sub this is a local brand that uses DD parts or parts close to it swapped for one a while ago and loved it best sub for the price in my country pulling off a 143DB@24hz on 1800watts a bit back and like the DD it plays everything smooth and loud hell i have vids going down to 15hz easy only drawbacks is the subs coil is wound lighter then the original DD715s which means it takes less power and can get broken if pushed too hard so 140-145DB on music is round it's peak capabilities and maybe low 150's burping. 4.)Targa Venom 15 : I kind of have too much good to say about this sub got a 141DB out of this sub on 200watts and had some crazy fun using it best for playing mid lows as in 35hz to 40hz and likes 47hz to 70hz a lot so good for a burp vehicle and great for somebody into House music, Techno and EDM genres overall, very good SQ overall only drawbacks is it takes only 900-1200watts clean and does get hot, the tinsel leads are direct not sown in so they break when flexing too much and their price skyrocketed in 2021. 5.)Hybrid 15H350 The weird one, this is a PA driver yet it's here on my list? Reason is when i threw it in my car it destroyed many subs i heard at the comps as in got almost as loud played down to 19hz and sounded even better and also did so on way less power due to the sensitivy aspect and best part is it costs less then half of what even entry level aka street level car subs cost, if i started out i'd have bought these instead of the cheapies i ended up buying this sub shocked me loved 26hz, 29hz in my car had a bandwidth down to 19hz ate 1200watts for 8 hours straight and didn't get hot at all meaning the 3 inch coils can take more and best part is the Sound quality is in another league compared to any Car sub only downfall is the lows sound different and it's low Xmax means the lows are not windy at all just loud and honestly since the DD715 D is the closest in SQ yet gives that oomph i would go DD if i wanted that certain sound but if i started out i'd have said this is the way especially since there is a ton of benefits for a beginner regarding money.
I have a dd 718 waiting on my desk. It is going in a bmw e91 that is being fully sound treated. (Box - 226L tuned to 28Hz with a 10” aeroport). How was the power handling with the 715? Planing to run it with a SD 2000.1 EVO
@@gregorijs3kivi ran a Sound Digital(SD) 3k on mine easy peasy subs not even broken in yet man just know they take a whille to break in and if in the right box sounds soo deep like really different sounding subs i believe you will be very happy. Id guess a 142 to 147DB is possible on a 718 easym
@@iosifkovalenko8364yes, after some years and experience i understood that 👍 now i have 2x 812f in a 6th order. Does 144db on the glass sealed at 47hz from 1000w clamped. 140++ from 20hz and on with a door open
They are very hard to come by these days and pricey, but i would love to see a deep dive on Blues audio and Linear power, back in the day when Blues first came out i had the 10.5's and the 6.5's on linear power amps, i could not blow those Blues speakers, i still have the 6.5's, brittle now but still fire, i put so many watts to those tens, rms i think was 150 or 300 watts, they took 3000 no problem and didnt even get hot or smoke, Blues are fantastic, not powerhouses but just durable as hell, the coils on them are just insane.

Need to check out B2, and now I know the price can be high, but Hutchinson Audio are pretty extreme and not really tested or rated by many. But from those I've seen with them absolutely love them. And extremely customizable.
Hutchinson got some sexy ass neo subs fr
X2 on that! Those Hutch look fine AF and damn, the few vids I have seen 😳🤘👌 they ain't effing around 😎
My favourite sub is definitely the x12v2.
Have one in a wagon and box tuned to 32hz and it's feakin amazing!!
I have a couple Skar 15’s with a skar 2000 watt amp and I’m happy with the set up. Pounds to be honest.
Would be great to see a sub battle that budget doesn't matter. Like an Orion Hcca or SPLX😁
Absolutely love your videos. Can't wait to see what 2022 brings.
I don't have enough experience with different brands and models, but I'm really happy with my XFLs.
We need a video on that badass Subaru bub
Good list Parker putting the skarbage in the dead last spot lmao while ya put the Xv2 above everything. I own a Xv2 10 myself and that lil guy is a behemoth that I've literally beaten the shit out of it demoing and freq sweeping and it still keeps throwing 💪
How do you get into competitions and stuff? There isn't anything like that around where I live. I so wish there was. I work and live at a 40 acre resort hotel..plenty of space to do car shows and such. I'd love to set up something cool this summer
Would like to see a demo of SQ subs comparing JL to other options for SQ.
I need you to Review the resilient sounds platinum 12 Parker❓❓❓
Damn that looks heavy. Can see the truck squat a bit when he placed the subs on the box 3:27 😂 thats awesome
Hey! I am ordering 2 of the quad stack 10s, could you maybe send some videos of your system? I would be interested in your boxes aswell! Thanks man!
30hz ?? What do you listen to that's that low all the time
Run a audio pipe amp to it... you will change your mind.. it's garbage... doesn't hold up... and if you don't cool them off with any kinda fans.. ur risking burning your ride up.. not to mention they draw way to many amps for what they put out
@@crookcounty1978 yeah audiopipe subs are OK, but I run taramps for bass amps. Who's got room for a audiopipe amp Anyhow? That new soundqubed Korean built amp looks nice tho
Love the cat in the video!!! More of him too, please.
Will do!!
I wanna see somebody playing some of the updated SSA subs. They were right up there with Sundown and RE Audio years ago and they're still hand made in the US. I used to run their SQ sub, the Dcon but I switched to a Skar VVX for more output in the same price range. Its hard to find any videos of the new Icon or Zcon playing
ssa built by fi right?
@@Furybeatsgme I don’t believe so.
Had some alpine type a and blew both of me with my hypnotics amp 😂🤦🏽♂️ lookin to upgrade but wanna stay with 2 12s lmk what y’all think.
Can you use the car subs for home theatre application?
I’m running a 10” XV2 after running a JL Audio sub and to me the sound is almost the same. The sundown does hit harder though. I think the JL sounds a bit better and more efficient so it plays bass at lower volumes. I wish on your chart you had listed the name of the subs. I would like to have that.
Always informative info. Enjoy the vids as always! Shake the pillars !!!
I have an x12 v3 as my daily sub and it takes 2900 at 2 ohm from my skar 4500.1 all day long
Am in kenya in East Africa an I have a van that I accused recently and I wish you call come over and wire this old van with nice sound, God bless the good knowledge and works of your hands.
You should make a removable wall enclosure. Put it in for testing and take it out for driving so you don't have major blind spots. Wall, wall, wall!! Spl score I bet would be phenomenal!!
Great video, glad to see the audiopipe make it onto the list
Great vid as always brother. Hope you can get some resilient sounds platinums in there this year, love to see your thoughts on it
2024 update video?
The Sundowner subs have my attention.
PARKER man you need to get some resilient sounds on your channel bud love the vids you make for everyone
Still loves my American Bass Elites. Sound the same as the xfl to me. Best budget banger to me.
The xfl can handle a lot more power tho..
I'm running 4 sundown x10s on two taramps 5k...almost done with installation putting it in 1995 chevy 2500 4x4 just two door
I have 2 championship pioneer 12 inch subs in a sealed box, what type of amp do I need to make them hit hard
I'm new to the new generation of stereo systems but right now I've got XFL 12!! 3000 Peak and it beats hard
1000 rms or the 1500???
And then the new solo X came along 🔥🔈🔥
What up parker you need to review some resilient sounds platinum 12s I love them and there a budget sub
0:14 love the fact that you cat can talk! More catnip then!
I like DC in my jeep. I'm not a big Sundown fan but I'm thinking about a couple of Xv3's for my daily.
Subs are more inefficient because we have a lot more power to power them with nowadays
@@gamescents3719 yeah but the amps that power them are more efficient
Today’s subs are geared toward high excursion and ported boxes. Super stiff and need a ton of power to move the cones. SQ and efficiency has gone out the window.
@@raulfernandez9111 yeah but they ain't built like shit atleast
Excellent Demonstration 😮
Nice list bro! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Happy new year!!
Would be a great service to the basshead community to share all that knowledge.... especially in a indepth video
@@jase1911 all of it is already discussed in videos on RUclips they are just educational and therefore kind of a bore 😅
Thanks Parker,love the videos !
Aww my sub is #1! Thanks again for the sub Parker it’s going to make a great addition to my system.
Yessir!! I miss it but glad it is in good hands
Yeah I really like the 3012r. Even under powered they get down and sound good
I really like all your insight and wisdom. I bought subs because u said they were better so I could use some free one because I lost mine somebody stole them
I would like to see how digital design matches up
Which brand has cleaner bass? DD Audio or CT Sounds?
Thank you 4 sharing all this cool content , i love BASS so i find everything here interesting. I used to have a systen but don't at the moment, hopefully soon tho god willing. Had a lil question not sure which would sound better. (2)10in subs or (1)12in sub? Not sure if they all have the same wattage what the sound would be 🤔✌️💯🌴🔈🎶
What do you think about the American bass xmaxx I'm thinking about getting 2 15s I have 2 12 xfl but blew both of them out smh I'm in the process of reconing them hopefully everything gose good
Killer video! Good to see some old pics from the rents house in the keep! What did you ever do with the audio pipes? Keep up the great content and happy New Years brotha
Man I love subs I’m running 2 alpine type rs 750s on a old school Zeus 3200.1 with a Zeus 1000.4 v2 for the highs sounds dope slamming in my grand marquis custom ported box
Crossfire FTW 🙌
Need to try the Resilient Sounds subs.
I think I’m gonna run 2 XFL 10s and maybe a smart3k in my GFs 2015 Camry
So i'm unsure if i have owned more then 5 car audio subs but here is my list
1.)Digital Designs 715D series:
best subs sound quality and volume wise as in gets hectic loud with amazing bandwidth no matter the box and sounds soooo smooth on every note.
2.)Sundown X15 V1:
The King of wind, this subs only trade offs is the SQ part and bandwidth by 15% other then that it hits like a truck at anything below 33hz and cause so much air pressure it's ridiculous to compare it to any other sub in that aspect and at the moment i am enjoying the hell out of it and getting another one.
3.)Ice power 715:
The middle man sub this is a local brand that uses DD parts or parts close to it swapped for one a while ago and loved it best sub for the price in my country pulling off a 143DB@24hz on 1800watts a bit back and like the DD it plays everything smooth and loud hell i have vids going down to 15hz easy only drawbacks is the subs coil is wound lighter then the original DD715s which means it takes less power and can get broken if pushed too hard so 140-145DB on music is round it's peak capabilities and maybe low 150's burping.
4.)Targa Venom 15 :
I kind of have too much good to say about this sub got a 141DB out of this sub on 200watts and had some crazy fun using it best for playing mid lows as in 35hz to 40hz and likes 47hz to 70hz a lot so good for a burp vehicle and great for somebody into House music, Techno and EDM genres overall, very good SQ overall only drawbacks is it takes only 900-1200watts clean and does get hot, the tinsel leads are direct not sown in so they break when flexing too much and their price skyrocketed in 2021.
5.)Hybrid 15H350
The weird one, this is a PA driver yet it's here on my list?
@@EBMproductions1 which brand has cleaner bass? DD Audio or CT Sounds?
@@gregorijs3kiviyou’re tuning way too low for dd. go big box, large port and tune 35-40 hz. should be able to get 10 hz below tuning with authority
@@iosifkovalenko8364yes, after some years and experience i understood that 👍 now i have 2x 812f in a 6th order. Does 144db on the glass sealed at 47hz from 1000w clamped. 140++ from 20hz and on with a door open
My old school MTX THUNDER 9500 has both SPL and SQ.
That kitty likes the bass!! 😂😂
What about the g2 sub? Thinking about picking up 2 12s
Try out quantum audio
They are very hard to come by these days and pricey, but i would love to see a deep dive on Blues audio and Linear power, back in the day when Blues first came out i had the 10.5's and the 6.5's on linear power amps, i could not blow those Blues speakers, i still have the 6.5's, brittle now but still fire, i put so many watts to those tens, rms i think was 150 or 300 watts, they took 3000 no problem and didnt even get hot or smoke, Blues are fantastic, not powerhouses but just durable as hell, the coils on them are just insane.
